  • Join forces with me, Rick, and chart-wizard How Math, as we unravel the intricate tapestry of modern gender dynamics and societal narratives wielding influence in our lives. Whether it's resisting the gravitational pull of outdated relationship ideals or dissecting the stubborn loyalties in the realm of technology, we're tackling these issues head-on. Together, we scrutinize the impact of beloved Disney tales on women's expectations and the challenges facing men in today's shifting societal landscape. Our conversation goes beyond the surface, probing the consequences of a society enamored with brand allegiance and the pressing need to cultivate personal growth within a supportive community.
Venture with us through the labyrinth of modern social dynamics, where we investigate the transformation of political landscapes and the juxtaposition of inclusivity with exclusivity. As we traverse the terrain of social issues and censorship, you'll gain insights into the nuanced debates surrounding social equity programs and the balance between feelings and facts in our legal system. Our episode peels back the layers on hypergamy and its paradoxical effect on dating, the evolving nature of gender roles, and the demanding dance of maintaining integrity within digital relationships.
This dialogue is a journey of introspection and discovery, urging you to rethink the way we navigate personal and societal relationships. We confront the delicate art of parenting through the rebellious teenage years, the strategies to grow a meaningful social media presence, and the power of impactful content. In the quest for a self-directed life filled with purpose and direction, How Math and I share personal anecdotes, emphasizing the vitality of actionable life planning over hollow self-help promises. Prepare to be enlightened and challenged as we share our experiences and solutions for living a life rich in authenticity and fulfillment.

Rick, I came to you through hoe_math. Fantastic discussion, it brought a tear to my eye in places. I'm 71 and I've always struggled. I always thought it was me who was the problem, now I know the truth, I am not the problem but the cause of my perceived problems. This was such a great conversation. The last ten minutes though were quite depressing. At 71 though, do I want, or need to change, I've been aware of what's happening for a number of years. Am I happy just to watch everything burn in these latter stages of my life, maybe I'll have to be as I don't see anything changing, only harder times to come. Interesting times ahead. So sorry for the youth of today and take my share of the blame for the inevitable disasters ahead. Once again thanks.

That’s literally not the Disney Little Mermaid story. You’ve described the erroneous feminist reading of the story.
What actually happens is the *villain* convinces her to give up her voice, when in fact it’s her voice that is the deciding factor in the Prince loving her. The villain even uses the mermaid’s voice to enchant the prince.
The moral is essentially don’t give up your ‘voice’ as it’s integral to who you are as an individual.

@@Matthew-cp2eg Watch the film again. What I described occurs in the 1989 Disney animation.
The *villain* convinces Ariel to give up her voice in the first act and for the second act of the film Ariel is mute. While Eric likes her, he’s not wholly convinced as she isn’t his ‘one’ with the voice he fell for.
In this way, Ariel’s ‘voice’ is a symbol for her ‘self’. And by giving it up, she’s given up her identity.
At the end of act 2, the prince ultimately rejects Ariel in favour of the villain who is specifically utilising Ariel’s voice to enchant him.
It’s only when Ariel regains her true voice that the Prince sees her for who she is, they work together and become a functioning team.

I did marriage counseling with my ex. He had a male councilor, which was the only way I’d do it, he actually sided with me, and it was just like you said, week after week she wouldn’t make the changes, and mine involved some sexual medical issues, not Ed, and he relized I was doing everything I could and it just takes time, and she just was so impatient about having kids.
She didn’t get despite him telling her, he can still have kids, it’s just going to take some time, but my issue didn’t mean I couldn’t at all ever.
She left thinking she could adopt…. Let’s just say it’s 5 years later and she has a dog and wants to get back together if I let her…

1:12:56 It’s not just narcissism. Those are the tell-tale traits of a cult:
    1. Authoritarian Leadership (to simps/blue pill men) [usually religious or political leaders]
    2. Exclusive, unquestioning obedience
    3. Isolation from the outside world and former life
    4. Financial and Emotional manipulation
    5. Threats of attack from the outside world
    6. High expectations in sacrifice to the authoritarian

Im torn. I feel a bit sensitive to hypocrisy. Using the simile "hey i see a bear and people respond with i don't believe you, where is your bear recognition credentials" while also hand waving away others who claim privilege exists because you " worked hard" seems almost blasphemous.
I might be the hard headed one here but this seems related.

Guys, you are giving into marketing and gimmicks. The Samsung camera's pixels need to be divided by 4, because the pixels are too small to pick up on details.
You can have a 1000hp engine, but if your transmission can only handle 250hp, then what's the point?
Furthermore, Apple will replace those charging cables for free at the Apple Store.
This isn't even comparing the phones' processors, the longevity of the devices, or the resale values.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
    ~Proverbs 14:12
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
    ~1. Corinthians 15:1-4
Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
    ~2. Peter 1:1
    God bless you!
