Box is the man and his stuff with SubD and cool tricks like this. Not only impress`s you but makes you realize the many possibilities SketchUp offers. Or mysteries is has left to be found.
I tried making doors & windows using your previous videos, got a little bit success also but there were some problems, so It would be really helpful if we get a series on making complex dynamic components (i.e. Windows, Doors, Staircase, Boundary Walls, Railings etc) with varied options. These videos are really helpful, thanks a lot. Subscribed.
I hope sketchup will add more native tools like this weld tool. No more extensions in the future, just full native tools. I hope sketchup will consider this suggestion. Thank you.
Just used this method to make twisted sticks of boiled candy and I have reduced the memory size by half of a candy made using twist and bend plugins. Many thanks.
Great video as always! Having scoured the internet there doesn’t appear to be much content around dynamic components and how to create them. I’ve been stuck on a programming problem for an animation sequence I’m attempting. Any/all walkthroughs on a bunch of examples of how to use different functions would be great content, I don’t know how many others have gone down this rabbit hole. But it’s deep, and I’m a bit lost.
Hey, Great content. I love this video. I've been experimenting with this technique and am having a problem. I created the same kind of form as your video shows with the same techniques with the goal of creating a series of 3d shaped lines that I could then use follow me to wrap a shape around the line. However, when I do follow me on the line the shape twists as it follows the line. Instead of staying with a convex side facing always inward, it curves and ends up pointing downward. Could you see if you can reproduce this and explain why this is happening?
After using the Move to with the modifier key to make a single copy, simply type the number of copies you need, followed by the X key and you will generate an array!
@@SketchUp Thanks. I didn't know what the modifier key meant so for others like me the modifier key is control or shift on your keyboard. Pressing it while using various tools changes their action. I cant believe I didn't know this.
Could you please help me understand why this tube squeezed asymmetrically. Upper part squeezed while lower part remains almost unchanged, where is a boundary b/w "hard/light" squeezing? Can I predict it?
The bottom is "Anchored" by being connected to the circle. The deformation has to do with a bunch of geometric calculations related to keeping the curve connected while changing the angle of the first segment... I am not really smart enough to explain beyond that. I recommend you make a model and try it yourself!

That was really great, Aaron (and Box!)! These skill builders are fantastic and are such a benefit for us SketchUp users!

Many "You're welcomes"
Fantastic man.... I never thought about. All these time I've been using follow-me tools. Coooooola!
I'm late to the party.. but absolutely loved this!! Thanks!! 🎉
skill builder videos are cool , reminder of tool usage and exporation of techniques.
Never stop learning and experimenting! There is always more to see!
Very cool. AND... reminds me to say that it's ridiculous that Sketchup does not have a native weld tool in the kit.
High quality options. Very creative!
6:00 whaaaaaaaa....? How does that even make any sense? I can't understand the concept why is it behavior like that!
MIND BLOWN~
Thanks Aaron these vids are so helpful really appreciate what you do for us
Good knowledge, well done, thanks for sharing with us :)
Thank you for clear work!
awesome❤❤

I will add this to my list!
Super gemacht 👌👍👍👍
Thank you so much Aaron :)
As ZeroLife said... WHAT????? I didn't expect the deformation. I don't get it! Love'd it none the less.
I can use this technique to make a ring in pinion gear for deferential. If I also apply your technique for making a screw.
Very nice. Need to your help regarding weld tools. I did not find this tools at my Extension menu.
Easy. Quick. Cool.
Excellent, thank you
great skill thanks. Now just pop it on top of a Moscow building and colour the spirals.
I've tried to scale the top surface but lines didnt bend (only a few lines connect the to surface move)
i got the same effect too.. any other hidden step that was not mention?
Sketchup God, especially for people like us who are using skp 2014
cool vid thanks
👍 👍
Cooler than cucumbers!

Hi, i want to build a ring that is not always the same width around the finger. Can you help me? tks!
Is the welding extension different from what we have in SU 2021 (“weld edges”)? Thanks for another great tutorial!
It is... or was.... This was from before Weld was a native function.
Cool
WOW!
This app is good my son is ten and he is using it.
It works at sketchup pro 2017 ?
a magician is speaking, a magician is creating.......
COOOOOL
Great video. I have one question. How does that copy function work when you say you're typing 23x? I don't seem to have that tool or option.

Nice Nice Nice.
Шедеврально
que demais!
very cool, better than follow me of course.....

@@AaronMakingStuff Thank you!
🤯
I did it!!!
Awesome!!!
