I like how the various mod factions will actually acknowledge each other when first encountered, and if you check the sound files, they recorded a bunch of voice lines for every conceivable faction that could be added to the game, whether they actually exist or not. The Thousand Sons have some interesting lines if they happen to run into the Blood Ravens...

I think what i love most here is that unification isn't trying to compete with ultimate apocalypse, they are doing their own thing and giving us more great mods to choose from.

This mod revives the campaign for soulstorm, I am playing it so much now, I actually lose fights from time to time now instead of steam rolling everything, I have to use air support, interrupt enemy elites with melee units, no more just sending everything to kill and winning the game. I am loving it! If you are thinking about getting this mod, stop thinking and just DO IT! I am not even someone who uses mods all that often, just follow the instructions and it will work! Enjoy brothers, the Emperor and the mod community protects!
I actually recognize the sound at 35:20 during the Necron Titan spawning. It’s used in another RTS game, Planetary Annihilation, as the sound effect for a doomsday weapon. Pretty neat to see it here

I did not even know about existence of this mod. Here I was playing plain old apocalypse mod and here I see everything I ever wished for and even more.
Time to get back to this comment since things changed a lot from those times. I played a lot of Unification since then and I must say, it was fun ride, but for me who prefers single-player campaign, it became kinda boring. Great strength Unification has over UA is that feels quite balanced. Your T1 units have little chance to rush-crush oponent base. All but the lightest vehicles are almost invulnerable unless you have anti-vehicle units. And you do not unlock armored vehicles, anti-vehicle and anti-structure tools untill you are T2. Problem is, that this applies to all races and there is very little you can do to deviate from this. Every battle was going exactly like clockwork. Do some inf vs inf combat. And then just delay untill you can spawn vehicles to be able to kill enemy fort. Even if you would push him back and have horde of infantry bashing his fort, it would take so long to kill it that you would still have plenty of time to get to T2 and get vehicles that would actualy do the kill. And it became boring after while. On other side Ult. Apocalypse changed quite a bit. It now also has increase campaign squad/support caps (iirc it did not before) and the difference between races are much larger, with myriad of options on how to fight your enemy even from the very first tier. At this point Ult.Apocalypse is doing everything that I wanted from Unification and feels different enough to bring plenty of new enjoyment. Only crucial difference (if you ignore all the super super ultra late game upgrades for Ult.Apoc.) is that you do not have persistent bases on conquered territories. Other than that, Unification mod seems to be bit more polished, but UA offers way more variety in how you can aproach the combat and does not shy from giving huge amount of power to higher tier units.
I wish the mod creators would focus more on polishing the main races rather than adding tons of minor unfinished factions. that, and I wish they just stuck to canon rather than feeling the need to add dumb easter eggs and anime girls to every army. edit: 7.0 released and they've dialled all the pop culture references and coomer weeb shit up to 11. they've even added their own anime fanfiction race and get pissy if anyone dares to question it. why do successful mod makers always have to go and sour things with their egos?
@@Athidius your reply got me to go and take another look at the current state of the mod, and wow was I embarrassed and disappointed. the first thing I see is that they've added a guard regiment of Japanese samurai and magical anime girls, which is all just pure fanfiction based on Genshin Impact and a slither of ancient 40k lore, and that many of the units are just stolen from Red Alert 3. the faction features a Star Wars Mandalorian, multiple Genshin Impact girls, 2B and YorHa androids from Nier Automata, a Russian sniper girl from Black Lagoon, goth girl assassins, space Benedict Arnold, and Wolf from Sekiro. this is absurd.

It does make some sense. Kinda bizarre to think that when Dark Crusade released we were still in oldcrons, but we've not only had newcrons, but we've cranked the Newcrons so hard they've become the posterboy villains twirling mustaches skipping over the Silent King's angst phase. Necron lore's honestly been some of the most changing faction lore in the setting. It's just also sorta crazy Unification went full-tilt to add in as much Newcron stuff as they have.
Necrons realy did not get the most love. He says SM did not get much love...while they have 7 playable factions He says CSM did not get much love... while they have 5 playable factions Meanwhile necrons: 1 playable faction this almost mirrows GWs priorities

I know Fragjacker. He also makes mods for Stellaris. One of his, Acquisition of Technology allows for the supermods Ancient Cache of Technology and Zenith of Fallen Empires to be combined seamlessly. It also adds Fallen Empire versions of Habitats and Juggernauts.
Unification mod is when the fans say when no new dawn of war comes out: "Fine then, we do it ourselves." And on a personal note, it warms my old heart from the day when I for the first time got "Rough Trader" and see what fans made out of love for the franchise throughout the years.
Im a 40+yr guy and played a lot of W40K and Apocalypse years ago. I always watch the Luetin channel and because of the TV series/animations, I'm back in this game. I was looking for texture mods and addons and to my great and happy surprise I found this. Jesus guys, you are amazing people. The amount of time and work you spend to make these mods is simply epic!!! Sound design much better than the Angels of Death series, way way better. Let's go, unification mod review. I'm so happy to see this mod going far here on youtube, it really is wonderful. The team is great, and I loved being there to see it in development and all the hype up to release.
the community mirrows GWs media, thus Imperium fanboys heaviliy outnumber everyone else... which is the obvious consequence of having such a lobsided ip
if anyone wants to try the campaign with the other races, give the stronghold mod a try. it lets you pick each stronghold mission from DC and SS and play it like a skirmish mission, so you can play any mission with any faction, vanilla or new with custom army paints too.
The fact that "make it bun dem" (a.k.a. the Far Cry 3 flamethrower mission music) plays as a Salamanders BGM makes me lose my sanity because of laughter. But oh well, SANITY IS FOR THE WEAK.
Errrrm.... The Deciever was in the original game, it was broken as fuck in pvp games because the fake monolith would constantly draw aggro and amke you re-target your units all the time. Also, if oyu stole a squad wirth a comander, you could get that commander for free if you detached him, which was probably a bug. Yea, fuck that unit, one of the reasons you should never go into a late game vs the Necron unless you are playing IG or DE.
Never understood why those 'bugs' were never fixed... It doesn't seem so hard? I have a thread on the Soulstorm forum about similar 'bugs' and their possible abuse. I'm "Valiant" there, most of the time ;)
I was sold on the mod when I played the Emperor's Children. Noise marines? Cool. Can get fallen Sisters of Battle? Odd but I'm not opposed. Can summon Doomrider? Neat. Spoiler by Hyper can play as battle music? Fuck being lore friendly, this is fandom friendly!

My favorite part is the constant crashing, especially after every stronghold mission. and patches that don't seem to patch anything, just muck up the game even worse.
I had such a weird introduction to this game. First it was AI presidents making a 40K faction tier list, followed by me looking up these factions cause they sounded like the coolest thing, followed by me discovering dawn of war, followed by me discovering this video, followed by me spending 40 dollars on this game and all its expansions, followed by me watching this video entirely and single handedly wanted me to give this game a shot. Especially chaos and necrons. Great video !

I have always thought that if there is any sequel to the original dawn of war game that the sequel would just be a graphics update. There could be some new factions and gameplay adjustments but overall it doesn't need to change at all. I am happy unification mod exists and I hope some people will make a campaign out of it. That would be great.
Are we deserving of their work? My Emperor, these people earned whatever they are getting and a hundredfold more. This game made my teenager years, I will ,by my soul, save some cash to donate, this honestly deserves it.

My experience as a new user: 1) Doesnt work out of box, have to search for solution 2) Find it pretty quick, now the cheats are enabled as default 3) Turn the cheats off, but they are still on 4) Abandon the mod and start playing regular Soulstorm
Unfortunately in Campaign the campaign configurator is set to win mode turned on by default, our mistake, will not happen again. It's a tick box to turn off though and does not affect skirmish.
For anyone getting this or any other mod that uses the improved camera mod that lets you zoom out a sane distance: The DoW Mod Manager has a launch option that disables the fog effect so you can actually see what's going on on the ground.
Lost 4 years of my life playing vanilla DoW to Soulstorm back in 2004-2008. Used to troll DoWSanctuary on a regular basis which I think is now rts-sanctuary. Some of the best DoW players ever came from there. Good times. Might have to try this mod. Great deep dive on this BTW.
Royal dorn lore wise was not in centurion armor, that was done by Emperors TTS…… I miss it. Anyway, just wanted to point that small detail out. I really need to get out more.
I LOVE this mod. The Necrons have the Pylons too but only in survival! And you can use Apocalypse with Unification BUT the Tyranid mods are the Problem. But the Makrer of these mods show you how you can make that (For me it is too much - I wanna play with nice Units and Unification has that..)
im impressed they added Vortigant, This knight is the Player in Freeblade (A F2P Mobile Game) where he loses his house due to a chaos invasion of the World Eaters and is Rescued just in time by the dark angels
This mod is insane, can't wait till every factions have their titans. Seriously what they are doing is everything I ever dreamed of back when Dawn of War was released. I literally bought the game again 16 years later on steam to play this!

the first thing I see is that they've added a guard regiment of Japanese samurai and magical anime girls, which is all just pure fanfiction based on Genshin Impact and a slither of ancient 40k lore, and that many of the units are just stolen from Red Alert 3. the faction features a Star Wars Mandalorian, multiple Genshin Impact girls, 2B and YorHa androids from Nier Automata, a Russian sniper girl from Black Lagoon, goth girl assassins, space Benedict Arnold, and Wolf from Sekiro.

It does make some sense. Kinda bizarre to think that when Dark Crusade released we were still in oldcrons, but we've not only had newcrons, but we've cranked the Newcrons so hard they've become the posterboy villains twirling mustaches skipping over the Silent King's angst phase. Necron lore's honestly been some of the most changing faction lore in the setting. It's just also sorta crazy Unification went full-tilt to add in as much Newcron stuff as they have.

I know Fragjacker. He also makes mods for Stellaris. One of his, Acquisition of Technology allows for the supermods Ancient Cache of Technology and Zenith of Fallen Empires to be combined seamlessly. It also adds Fallen Empire versions of Habitats and Juggernauts.
Unification mod is when the fans say when no new dawn of war comes out: "Fine then, we do it ourselves."
And on a personal note, it warms my old heart from the day when I for the first time got "Rough Trader" and see what fans made out of love for the franchise throughout the years.
Im a 40+yr guy and played a lot of W40K and Apocalypse years ago. I always watch the Luetin channel and because of the TV series/animations, I'm back in this game. I was looking for texture mods and addons and to my great and happy surprise I found this. Jesus guys, you are amazing people. The amount of time and work you spend to make these mods is simply epic!!! Sound design much better than the Angels of Death series, way way better. Modding is the best part of gaming. This looks incredible and will keep the game fresh for many more years.
if anyone wants to try the campaign with the other races, give the stronghold mod a try. it lets you pick each stronghold mission from DC and SS and play it like a skirmish mission, so you can play any mission with any faction, vanilla or new with custom army paints too.
The fact that "make it bun dem" (a.k.a. the Far Cry 3 flamethrower mission music) plays as a Salamanders BGM makes me lose my sanity because of laughter. But oh well, SANITY IS FOR THE WEAK.

Errrrm.... The Deciever was in the original game, it was broken as fuck in pvp games because the fake monolith would constantly draw aggro and amke you re-target your units all the time. Also, if oyu stole a squad wirth a comander, you could get that commander for free if you detached him, which was probably a bug. Yea, fuck that unit, one of the reasons you should never go into a late game vs the Necron unless you are playing IG or DE.

It is sad seeing my childhood franchise getting forsaken by its own creator.
Just wanted to point out the fact that regular Space Wolves do exist as a mod that is compatible with the Unification Mod.
There's also other IG factions (namely the Praetorians, and the Vostroyans).
Was confused about the Space wolves part, I enjoy fighting them in my space marine chapters battle royales.
I found this video on Christmas and it's like Santa came to me! I installed the mod and I'm having a blast on Christmas Eve! Cheers!

The gay chaos marine driving the Rhino sold this mod to me immediately
You won't like the angry marine mod where the vehicles explode immediately after they spawn.
My favorite part is the constant crashing, especially after every stronghold mission. and patches that don't seem to patch anything, just muck up the game even worse.
The stronghold thing has been in soulstorm since day 1 unfortunately, but relic never fixed.
Someone on the mod team is a Nier Fan- there's a chance for 2B to be seen chillin on the IG's shadow sword.
Dude that opening should be a trailer for this mod, absolutely incredible

I had such a weird introduction to this game. First it was AI presidents making a 40K faction tier list, followed by me looking up these factions cause they sounded like the coolest thing, followed by me discovering dawn of war, followed by me discovering this video, followed by me spending 40 dollars on this game and all its expansions, followed by me watching this video entirely and single handedly wanted me to give this game a shot. Especially chaos and necrons.

Honestly though love the mod and think it's a great alternative to apocalypse. I find it really refreshing and will probably play this more often and go to apocalypse when I want my power fantasy
Don't forget that Emperor's Children was made by one of Uni's devs.
All of this and the combat scale of Dawn of War 1 with a newer engine (like Dawn of War 2 or even 3)... it would be glorious.

I have always thought that if there is any sequel to the original dawn of war game that the sequel would just be a graphics update. There could be some new factions and gameplay adjustments but overall it doesn't need to change at all.
I am happy unification mod exists and I hope some people will make a campaign out of it. That would be great.
Are we deserving of their work? My Emperor, these people earned whatever they are getting and a hundredfold more. This game made my teenager years, I will ,by my soul, save some cash to donate, this honestly deserves it.

My experience as a new user:
1) Doesnt work out of box, have to search for solution
2) Find it pretty quick, now the cheats are enabled as default
3) Turn the cheats off, but they are still on
4) Abandon the mod and start playing regular Soulstorm
yeah took me a while to get it working, give it another shot trust me it's worth it
Unfortunately in Campaign the campaign configurator is set to win mode turned on by default, our mistake, will not happen again. It's a tick box to turn off though and does not affect skirmish.
For anyone getting this or any other mod that uses the improved camera mod that lets you zoom out a sane distance:
The DoW Mod Manager has a launch option that disables the fog effect so you can actually see what's going on on the ground.

Lost 4 years of my life playing vanilla DoW to Soulstorm back in 2004-2008. Used to troll DoWSanctuary on a regular basis which I think is now rts-sanctuary. Some of the best DoW players ever came from there. Good times. Might have to try this mod. Great deep dive on this BTW.
Royal dorn lore wise was not in centurion armor, that was done by Emperors TTS…… I miss it. Anyway, just wanted to point that small detail out. I really need to get out more.

I LOVE this mod. The Necrons have the Pylons too but only in survival! And you can use Apocalypse with Unification BUT the Tyranid mods are the Problem. But the Makrer of these mods show you how you can make that (For me it is too much - I wanna play with nice Units and Unification has that..)

This mod is insane, can't wait till every factions have their titans. Seriously what they are doing is everything I ever dreamed of back when Dawn of War was released. I literally bought the game again 16 years later on steam to play this!
