An entire host of characters were built up and knocked down, but above all else, this was Sindri's game. A mastermind, relying on the arrogance of his opponents to bring about his ascension. One of the best villains in gaming, IMHO.

The voice acting on this game... amazing, all of them. Very characteristic voices and mannerisms, transpiring a well defined personality for each one of the characters. Take Sindri with the snarky tones and Thot's "Holier than thou" attitude for example. The cutscenes, generated from in-game gameplay carefully tailored to tell us a story, so much love must they had put in this. A time when developers would put their heart and soul on their games and extract so much more from what the limited technology could offer at the time. Masterpieces that modern games, most of times, cannot replicate.
Even the inquisition wouldn't just nuke a planet so haplessly. It's a last resort. Especially if the planet has some significance like important resources for the mechanicus
Are we listening to the same voice acting? Is English not your first language? The voice acting in this is not terrible but it is not nearly as good as the newer games (weird dialog delivery in this one in a lot of places). Granted some of the VO is good... but there are so many odd deliveries I cannot understand all the praising comments (I feel It has to be nostalgia).

Like the last moment she says to not destroy the stone, but instead of telling them why(that it keeps the demon sealed I believe), she is vague and orders her troops to open fire.
The Eldar aren't straightforward. What they consider "straightforward" is what you see here: for them, what they say here is probably not just clear as day, but also painfully blunt, worded in a way that even a child would get it. But, to us humans, it's nothing but riddles upon riddles, wrapped up in enigmas. Makes for a nice source of drama.

I just realized, Gabriel dismissed Isador's interest in heretical knowledge for the greater good from Chaos, but then later on Gabriel himself sought heretical knowledge for the greater good from the Eldar despite Isador warning him of the exact same thing Gabriel told him when Isador was the one seeking knowledge, that they have nothing to learn from Chaos/Aliens, and should just kill them. Interesting how Gabriel shows hypocrisy here, and it's one of many factors that depicts every Space Marine at his core is nothing but a man who is fully susceptible to fault.

One of the best games I ever played. Best intro to a game ever. There is no such thing as a perfect game. But playing this one solo was about as close as you can get. Dawn of War. Excellent on so many levels, ( pun intended ).
While the cutscenes aren't that good animation wise, the voice acting carries them all on their own with how good it is (the animation isn't bad, it's just that it's kind of distracting how the movements of the characters in the cutscenes don't quite line up with what's said). I doubt it will happen, but I want there to be a remaster of Dawn of War with Dawn of War 2's style of presentation, + have the dialogue of the space marines in DOW be replaced by the dialogue in DOW2. I like the presentation of both, but I think I prefer DOW2s space marines better.
Now that I watch these after the fact. I know that it's probably done as service for those people whose only contact with the universe is this game, but some of exposition dialogue feels weird. Like I know that Galaxy is big, but it feels strange to have Chaos Lord to be exposed about orks that way. lol
Bale only saw them as mindless savages. Looking on an outside view. Just part of his character, while Sindri understood them and took advantage of their arrogance.
This video is ancient, and it is unlikely that this comment will ever be seen. I have not played Dawn of War, or Winter Assault, or Dark Crusade. But I have played a ton of Soulstorm. All these people saying it was bad? They are liars. The campaign is amazingly fun, and I have completed it a bunch of times with different factions. No, it is not linear. But it doesn't have to be. Just putting in my two bits.
Space Marines weren't always depicted as giants. Back in the 1st edition of 40k, they were enhanced humans, but not to the point of being of inhuman proportions. There were several artwork depicting them as tall as any other humans.

While the cutscenes aren't that good animation wise, the voice acting carries them all on their own with how good it is (the animation isn't bad, it's just that it's kind of distracting how the movements of the characters in the cutscenes don't quite line up with what's said). I doubt it will happen, but I want there to be a remaster of Dawn of War with Dawn of War 2's style of presentation, + have the dialogue of the space marines in DOW be replaced by the dialogue in DOW2. I like the presentation of both, but I think I prefer DOW2s space marines better.

Now that I watch these after the fact. I know that it's probably done as service for those people whose only contact with the universe is this game, but some of exposition dialogue feels weird. Like I know that Galaxy is big, but it feels strange to have Chaos Lord to be exposed about orks that way. lol
Bale only saw them as mindless savages. Looking on an outside view. Just part of his character, while Sindri understood them and took advantage of their arrogance.

This video is ancient, and it is unlikely that this comment will ever be seen. I have not played Dawn of War, or Winter Assault, or Dark Crusade. But I have played a ton of Soulstorm.
All these people saying it was bad? They are liars. The campaign is amazingly fun, and I have completed it a bunch of times with different factions. No, it is not linear. But it doesn't have to be.

Space Marines weren't always depicted as giants. Back in the 1st edition of 40k, they were enhanced humans, but not to the point of being of inhuman proportions. There were several artwork depicting them as tall as any other humans.
