It wasn't a Queen audience. All of the 72,0000 tickets were sold before Queen was announced as part of venue.
Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the star.
“Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said David Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time because they could connect with an audience.”

    • @marciebulsaraorcutt
      @marciebulsaraorcutt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Right… They mentioned that it wasn’t a Queen audience, and that this fact made it so remarkable that everyone was clapping along during the song as Freddie instructed.😎
…I’ve also read from folks who were in the live audience over in Philadelphia, that the whole crowd there were ALSO following all of Freddie’s instructions as they watched the live simulcast during Queen’s entire set!

Not all audiences are Queen Fans. The tickets were already sold when they found out that the Queen was performing. The doctor did not allow Freddie to perform but he did not follow it. He is very professional. They prepared for that occasion so they could give a good performance and make the most of the 20 mins allocation given to each band. Queen stole the show. Freddie is the greatest frontman of all time. I hope you can react to "somebody to Love" at Milton Keynes. Thank you for your great reaction. More Queen please!

I was 15 years old in 1984. I was living in California and had friends sleep over. We got up at 4am California time and watched this whole event. It was an amazing show from London AND Philadelphia. Queen put on the best performance of forever. My friends and I were just like those right there. We were standing, dancing, and singing along. People in Philadelphia were also standing and singing. Freddie had global crowd command and control.

No ear mics...no clicks and no autotune. Just great musicians and songwriters and singers.. They stood out, because Queen always practiced!! Bob Geldof said that Queen understood what he wanted! Don't just sing your newest hit....and Queen gave a full 17 minutes of all music...non stop...a mini concert. Others just sung around 3 songs. Its not to say others were not good. They were. But Queen’s performance outshone everyone because they performed from start to finishe, 6 songs. Queen were used to doing medleys too...well known in their concerts. And, they had huge stadiums down to a fine art, and Freddie utilised every single part of their huge stages! Running around everywhere. So he utilized the Live Aids stage to the Max!

Oh my gosh, you are so cheating yourselves. You absolutely have to watch this performance from start to finish it is so well put together. It is only 21 minutes long and so worth seeing in its original form. Elton John performed at this show and called Freddie a ba*tard for stealing the show. Bowie was the act that followed Queen at Wembley but I don't know who was the act immediately behind them in Philly. Bowie did great and kept the flow going. If yo do the whole concert make sure you get the one that starts with the comedians who are dressed as English Bobbies. Some of the other videos of this set cut off which is annoying. This is not my favorite song as are not some other of the Queen anthems but live they all are perfect.

Live Aid was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, attended by about 72,000 people, and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, attended by 89,484 people. one-third of the global population tuning into a TV broadcast at the same time. That's what happened on July 13, 1985, when 1.9 billion people watched musicians perform in London and Philadelphia to raise money for famine-stricken Ethiopians.

I am happy to hear reactors who mention the whole band. Roger and Brian are still touring - now with Adam Lambert as frontman. He is not Freddie and does not try to - has his. own style - but he Can sing the songs - try to find “Who wants to live forever” 2016 it will blow your
minds - it was the day after a mass shooting in Orlando - and is dedicated to the victims. The Music lives on . ❤️🎼🎶😉

    HI GUYS!
I’m sure a LOT of folks will be asking you to react to Queen’s ENTIRE 20-minute Live Aid set all-in-one-piece (which - YES! You should!)
    However…
IMPORTANT NOTE re the Live Aid videos:
FYI, there are SEVERAL great-quality copies of Queen’s Live Aid video posted on various YT channels (some are remastered/UPGRADED video quality)…
…Unfortunately, tho, the last couple of years there’s been a “corrupted” video on YT also that has part of the last song CHOPPED OUT.
AND… recently, another different “corrupted” video’s been posted, with part of a different song CUT OUT. What’s even WORSE about the most recent one, is that they’ve blatantly STOLEN the video from this channel: Mundo do Rock.
    How to tell the difference:
The REAL Mundo do Rock vid has ONE logo in the upper corner. The FAKE/STOLEN version has TWO Mundo do Rock logos: The larger one in the upper corner/another tiny duplicate in the bottom corner.
…Which makes it quite EASY to avoid that one, but there’s still the first “corrupted” vid floating around.
EASIEST way to “play it safe” when picking a copy of the video:
Pick one that STARTS W TWO “COPS” introducing the band…
OR, just get a LINK from one of your Queen fan viewers.🖖

Freddy was number one for sure, there will never be anyone like him again. For a very different but equally powerful audience interaction you should watch Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Stagger Lee live at Glastonbury in 2013, I can guarantee you have never seen or heard anything quite like it, parental advisory warning though

That is so strange you suggested this haha! A friend of mine showed me that exact performance about a week ago for the first time! Might have to do a reaction to it as it was a VERY good performance!

I saw it live on TV . Yes, they certainly stole the show, but people who grew up with the band in the 70s will say that Rainbow 1974, Hammersmith 1975 Earl's Court 1977 are better. Freddie was younger and had a clearer voice and they played better songs. No Queen fan actually likes Radio Ga Ga

In 1984 Queen played 3 shows in Sun City breaking the UN cultural boycott of apartheid South Africa. Great performance but what bloody hypocrites.

They were misinformed, they were told it was a mixed audience, they weren't the only band or artist. Elton John and rod Stewart also played there.
