Brian May himself said he was blown away by how precise Freddie sang all different parts of the multitracked vocals. The song is also an excellent example of why having a talented producer is important, Roy Thomas Barker did a masterful job on the audio mixing, how he leaves in certain imperfections in the final mix, because the imperfections better conveys the emotion Freddie is going for. You guys should check out the documentary that shows how they made the song, with Brian, Roger and Roy Thomas Baker, its really informative.

The most amazing song with Freddie harmonizing with himself is probably " You take my breath away" from A day at the races - truly stunning!

There are 180 overdubs on this song and it was on 24 track tape which when they were done recording was transparent. They then transferred what was on the original to a new tape in order to preserve it. The original is still in the Queen vault which I am sure will soon be the Sony Vault since they just bought the entire Queen catalog for a billion dollars. That whole acapella portion is just Freddie, no one else. The rest of the harmonies on the song are Freddie, Brian and Roger. Thank you for this fun reaction.

Imagine singing one line several times and doing it perfectly so it merges beautifully. There is a video where Brian takes you in the studio and tells you exactly how they did it, you'll see Freddie's original notes on the creation of his song and the original tape it was recorded on. The work was extremely difficult, I think Brian said they worked 12 hours a day and most of it was all in Freddie's head, he explained it as they went along, no one knew where it was leading. A very interesting video, it's called the making of Bohemian Rhapsody. Great fun reaction

That was so amazing to hear! You really hear how incredible Freddie Mercury’s voice was. Such a legend. Brian said in an interview that the band didn’t rehearse this song. It was all in Freddie’s head and as Brian listened to him he came up with the idea of the guitar solo. ❤Queen.

    Musical Genius!!
John Deacon, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor & Brian May together = perfection! 💜
I heard they wanted to add a few more tracks but had to quit or the recorder was going to overload and shut down! I’ve always wondered if that’s true?!??….if it is I’m gonna go with the recording machine needs to be mentioned as the unsung hero!! It knew when to tell Queen that’s perfection, quit now! Or I’ll do it for you!!

This was really interesting--you should definitely check out the documentary Brian May did about the recording of this song. (Also I've been reading a book by Geoff Emerick the sound engineer for the Beatles in the 60's--everything recorded on 2 track or 4 track and the innovative ideas they came up with on those songs considering the limitations in technology at that time.)
