    Divorce destroys everything. All of it. All. You can't build anything or anyone healthy on a broken foundation. Please help those who are overlooked and grew up with divorced parents Father 🙏.

      Angela, my heart hurts for you. True words: “divorce destroys everything”. It’s ripping a plant up & throwing it away; far different from repotting or transplanting & loosening the roots for it to take hold again. Having been thru one w/o children was hard enough. Seeing my daughters go thru it w/children continues to be one of the hardest things to bear. Anyone who thinks “it is for the best” & deceives themselves that “it will be okay” is greatly mistaken. I understand there are times people have to separate or walk away due to abuse or other trauma, but for other selfish reasons, it is so damaging. The person I was died when we separated. I did not surface to try to start over for 6 months. That’s only because of “divorce recovery programs, retreats & counseling.” Even now almost 40 years later, happily remarried & having new roots in a new pot, I still reflect sometimes & feel that intense sadness. So, I look forward to what would not be in my life w/o that trauma & try to focus on the good. It takes a long time sometimes to see it tho.
      And yes, it affects everyone. My dog died after I was gone & my ex-mother in law had a stroke. The trauma for children is unspeakable. May God bless you dear soul with His Peace. You are loved.

      My parents never divorced, but perhaps they should have. They drove each other literally crazy beyond telling. Extremely abusive.

    • @kathyworland7032
      @kathyworland7032 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@wms72 yes; those are the ones who should retreat to their own corners. Key word: abusive. How love can get so twisted is beyond me. The opposite of love is NOT hate; it’s indifference. Hate is twisted & destructive love. I learned that in counseling & it helped me. Not nurturing love in the family setting is very destructive to those living in it.
      So sorry to hear. May God bless you with His Peace. 🙏🏻

      @@kathyworland7032 Thank you so much Kathy. So many try to quickly dismiss this topic by making excuses for it. No one wants to listen to the children who suffer so much in silence and become adults who don't know where to turn. Thank you for listening and I will pray for you ❤🙏

      My teenage kids told us we had to get a divorce. My fiance was cheated and beat. So he left. Our roots are each other, and total reliance on Jesus Christ. He and I have a very large undertaking of bridge building in our marriage. Both of us are declared null in the Catholic Church. Please pray for those of us who get the grace of getting married a second time and get a chance to rebuild faith, family and family values. God bless you. God bless all of us who listen to these homilies.

    Ok, Fr. Mike, this homily has been hitting home for me so harshly I'm about to charge you for manslaughter. I was about to enter a period of prayer and fasting because I really want to get close to someone, but as today I was realizing that I was pretty much putting God as a mean to an end; I was getting everything backwards.

    Father my parents divorced ,mum felt she had no choice. To be brief as I went into young adulthood the eldest of six . I swore I would never divorce if I was to marry as I felt I had been forced to grow up and be head of the family. Alas multiple relatioships and four mariges down the track plus children grandchildren I am finally long term married and well into the journey back to God and the Catholic church. I follow you and your ministry. God always returns love and love and the holy spirit direction. As to the answer
    God will reveal it in his time. Prayer is the only Answer and the one answer I have recieved i being grateful for every moment the lord gives me good and bad. I think of what our lord sacrificed for us all. 🙌🙏 thank you father.

    The Great Unknowing is our fragile state of being as finite humans. And, it is only when we confess and seek to remedy or transcend our unknowing that we reveal Great Knowledge. This knowing of our great unknowing points us to the Great Knower Who Knows Great Knowledge; for if there is knowledge of great unknowing then there exists a great knowledge that, although unknown to us would-be knowers, is knowable and somehow seeks to be known, as demonstrated by our desire to transcend our great unknowing and know the unknown, but can only be known by a Great Knower who Knows all Great Knowledge into existence, along with us knowers of great unknowing.

    Walking out not knowing where you are to go... How can one go out if they don't even know which direction to go? I can handle not knowing the destination, but if I go left, but God wants me to go right, and I keep going left, then I am continually going in the wrong way. So I need to know at least which direction to go, so I don't keep going in the wrong direction. No one has given me a good explanation for this problem, and it has been troubling me for over 10 years.
    I have asked similar questions in the past, and I don't know what God wants me to do at all, and just going, or just moving makes ZERO sense. There are infinite directions to go, so if God doesn't tell us which way out of infinity, what hope do we have to even going the right way?
    They say we are to do God's will instead of our own will. But God doesn't tell us his will, so we are forced to either not do anything, or do our own will, or make random guesses.

      Scripture reveals God's heart and personality. Study this and pray and you'll start to know God's Will...Serve others wherever you are. God sees your sincerity of heart. You going in the 'wrong' direction is not enough to truncate God's Will for you.

    I think this compliments very well with Dr.Jordan Peterson`s video `Fear is a Powerful Motivator`. This tells why to give up, and Dr.Peterson elaborates on the cost of not choosing painful ways or not deciding what to sacrifice. There is no such thing as neutral in the spiritual life, you are either going up or sliding back down. So we need to keep striking out for the next summit.
    Praise be to the Lord God!

    @00:47, God said a man is to leave his parents and cleave unto his wife.
    Our parents aren’t our God. Too many marriages end in divorce because one spouse or the other is still running home to mom and dad, they never did leave nor cleave.
    Ask Jeff Cavins, I got that from him.
    Edit: The more I listen to this the more Father’s message sinks in. I believe we perceive messages based on our state of mind and state in life.
    What he’s saying makes so much more sense a few weeks later. We’re constantly evolving and changing.

    Roots are everything, but the foundation of these roots is Our Lord Jesus Christ.
    If a nation, a society, a family, don’t acknowledge that, they begin to fail that very moment.
    I won’t loosen my roots - quite the opposite - but I will always look for Christ’s love as their ultimate aim.

    • @kelkabot
      @kelkabot 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Roots are not everything. Our Lord Himself was homeless when he walked the earth, and He told us that if needed we should deny mother and father to follow Him; moreover, He told us there would be no marriage in Heaven, which suggests (to me at least) that marriage is not an ultimate foundation. So neither our human ties nor our financial foundations should be our security, but God alone.

    For many, idolatry is only configured if they are pagan idols. If it's from Catholic saints, then it's not idolatry. Idolatry is anything that places itself as more important than God. Examples: A person has the custom of going to church on Sundays; but if that day her team is playing, she won't go, she prefers to see the game, the team is more important. The Catholic says that he only venerates the saints, he does not worship; but veneration, praise, celebration is part of worship. There is no biblical text that says we have to do this for the saints but only for God. Those angels made by Moses and Solomon for the temple never received any of that. There are people who say they don't have time to pray, read the Bible, go to church, because they work and study. For her all this is more important than God. I have to take care of my children, my husband, I can't, I can't! Many are passing into eternity and getting lost because Jesus is the only one who can save, he is the only one who paid the price on that cross for us. It was not his mother Mary, nor Peter, John, Paul, nor any saint, but only him.
