Amazing narrative therapy technique father. So cool to see how much biblical teaching and therapy overlap.

It blows my mind how powerful this homily is. For the past six weeks i've been struggling is with the fact of being between protestant and catholic churches. I thought by learning everything from different churches that we could bring our is spiritual family together. So I started seriously studying the bible and the catechism with college level notes. In doing that I realized that I wasn't showing my true face to God. Then I understood why my ideas were actually Gnosticism and how catholicism is the only way and the one true church. And now my life and the bible is opening up in ways I never thought possible. I give my life completely to the catholic faith now. And i'm ready to wrestle with God like jacob did. I'm so blessed that god would have so much mercy and grace for me even though I have no reason to deserve it. I am unworthy and he still uses a welp like me.

May God continue to bless you on your journey.
Although most faith traditions have some elements of truth, there is only one that has everything. That's the Catholic Church, founded by Jesus, Himself. He is still with us today in the Holy Eucharist. If we're truly looking for the truth, we'll find it in the Catholic Church.

No way...I picked up Till We Have Faces recently. Right before clicking this video I was feeling overwhelmed; I am a new revert and have been feeling a fear of "what if God isn't real." I prayed "I believe help my unbelief" and then put this video on as background noise. Our Lord is so Good and meets us where we are.
    Thank you, Fr.

God forgive me😔. We are half way through Advent and to be honest I am not preparing or doing anything, not even so much as listening to these beautiful homilies. I've been telling myself I'll wait for 2025 to go to confession, start listening etc.
Decided to sit down and just start by listening to these Sunday Homilies for Advent, but really listen and think and pray and take notes to review daily and make connections across all 4 Sunday Advent Homilies. If i dont die on Christmas, to continue taking these lesons into 2025 and beyond. Figure I can't be the only one who feels this way. So starting today going to put forth effort to build community online and/or in person. This will build accountability to my plan to improve my spiritual life, and the consistency of this will bring about actual change instead of just going through the motions and letting homilies go in one ear and out the other, and continue in this as a community until we see You Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, Face to Face 🙏.

So true, I see the same faces at mass every Sunday. I "know" them and they "know" me but only on the surface, but they are suppose to be my second family. Sometimes my church has events and stuff that I think about going to but often don't. As the only practicing Catholic in my family, I go to mass every Sunday by myself. I need community and fellowship with other faithful believers. Not enough to just go to mass say hi and bye till next Sunday. We all need community to help one another stay accountable to our faith and stay consistent in our faith. To think if the world ended on Christmas, if I did see Christ Face to Face who would I bring along with me? Brings tears to my eyes to envision going to mass for all of eternity with my fellow parish members, the faces I see very Sunday, but really having know them and conversed with them here on Earth now.
I will think of something this week and pick 1 or 2 people at mass next Sunday to start building fellowship with. Thank you Fr.Mike for these homilies. Maybe that can be the thing we just watch these homilies together and share what stood out to us or what our plan of action will be to put the teachings into action.

    • @AdoredGlorified

Yes, more than just me seeing Christ Face to Face, who am I bringing along with me, helping to prepare for life eternal? For we know not the day nor the hour (Matthew 24:36.) What a blessing it would be to see my whole parish in Heaven worshipping Christ together for all of eternity.🙏

Please go to confession. Don't make excuses. The reconciliation is always tough, no matter how often u do it, because pride and shame we feel are from the evil one. We all are wretched souls, that's why He gave up His life for us. 😇

  • @ana-u1g8o

"Just start." I just ended terms with my on and off LDR situationship a few hours ago. After I sent him a long message saying my apologies for my shortcomings and offering him to reconcile if we will put God in the center of our relationship, he replied that we should not make things harder and just move on. I was so sad that I am the only one who wanted to reconcile so I went to TH-cam and found Fr. Mike's homily for Gaudete Sunday. While watching, I realize that the narrative I'm telling myself, him, and God is that I'm deeply sorry for being human and wanting to be loved, but God's narrative may be that I should just show up during these difficult times of longing and he will fill me with His love. Lord Jesus Christ, heal both of us and others who are going through tough times. May we be reminded that one day we will see you face to face.

I've been through similar situations, and it's tough. I'm sorry you're going through that, but God answers our prayers if we make Him the Lord of our lives as you have. He removed someone that you weren't meant to marry. No offense intended I know it's still very fresh and tender, but God will provide a lamb for Abraham, and so God will provide you with a spouse on His terms. God be with you, wait on the Lord. Stay strong.

Thank you for your truly inspiring homilies. I look forward to them every Sunday. Even when I attend Mass elsewhere, I always come back to listen to your homilies. I deeply appreciate the effort and heart you pour into preparing them for us each week.
I’m also really enjoying, ‘Face to Face’, on the app. You have a way of making us see things in a completely new light, awakening our awareness. Your words never fail to nudge my conscience or bring back truths I once knew and felt but had forgotten.
Please know that I’m keeping you in my prayers. God bless you!

Amén! Your homily describes exactly how I've been feeling sometimes. I want to be truthful to my Heavenly Father, but I'm afraid I'm not even close. Today's readings have the key, so I can start being a better child of God. I should REJOICE as GOD ❤ me with all my imperfections (even the ones I don't want to acknowledge or aware of them), but I must also be the face of Christ for others by doing my job the righteous way.

After I sent him a long message apologizing for my shortcomings and offered him to reconcile if we will put God first in our relationship, he replied that we should not make things harder and just move on. After watching Fr. Mike's homily, I realize his reply was synonymous to "just start" or something like "let's do the bare minimum to move on from something that is not working anymore." This may be where faith starts. The narrative I was telling myself, him, and God is that I'm sorry for being human and wanting to be loved, but God's narrative may be that I should show up in these times of difficulties of longing so I can see His love. Lord Jesus Christ, heal both of us and others who are going through tough times. May we be reminded of being in Face to Face with you one day.

In this fragile situation, Judas wanted Him to raise a military army to conquer their Roman oppressors, and/or, if he didn't, he was going to hand Him over to the High Priests to face criminal charges of inciting a rebellion against Rome and thus face crucifixion.
Yes, I would definitely label Judas an enemy.

What if I am aware of both stories - what I FEEL in my heart the story of my life is & what I think God’s view of the story of my life is. Both are equally disappointing. I just can’t get past it. I took care of my Mom when I was 20 until she died. My courage failed me once & I took an afternoon off from it, even though she begged me not to go. I cannot get past the guilt of having let her down for those few hours. Can God forgive me for that weakness? I cannot.

Something I thought in regards to the prodigal son, the wayward son squandered his half of the property on a destitute life. When he returns, and the fattened calf is slain, the eldest brother's complaint is it was from his share of the inheritance.
It could be restated "Father, he wasted his half of our property on a life of sin and disowned us. Now you're taking what's left for me, that I earned by being a good son, just waste on him again."
The older brother feels betrayed like he's working for no pay (like a slave). The father reiterates that all the property left belongs to the eldest, but the greater treasure than material wealth is reconciling with family; that mercy/charity triumphs over legalism.
This Christmas season, this message speaks loudly. God might be taking what's "your's" to show mercy/charity to someone who is lost.

Hmmm… gifts…it is Jesus‘s birthday. Why aren’t we talking about the gift we are giving Jesus for his birthday? Why do we say, “I’ give you a gift because Jesus was born, I have a lust if demand and just give me cash so I don’t have to return the gift I reject? So messed up and not wwjd

With all do respect too much talking. 4-5 irrelevant stories mixed together for nothing. I got lost, looks like even you got lost talking. I even forgot what reading was about. Not good 😮Very disappointing.😢

The moral of the story is about getting past the fear of revealing what is actually in our hearts and not being afraid of sharing that with others and most importantly being honest with God when we are face to face. The story of not knowing what he wants for Christmas is about being afraid to actually reveal to his family what he really wants, but it's afraid that they may view him as less than or he truly doesn't know what he wants. The story about the couple is about be worried about being honest about what they wanted, but afraid others would think of them wanting an expensive gift. The story of CS Lewis is about being honest before God about your truth, but having a fear of being completely and fully honest in His presence, face to face.

@ in seminary they teach that homily should be 15 min. max to keep people attention. Also homily is not a TH-cam video 😏😕 it’s a part of the holy mass 🤔

He did a great job with his homily, today and every day. This priest is on fire for the Lord!
He had a main topic, supporting topics, and tied it all together very well.
Bravo, Fr Mike! And Happy Birthday to you today! 🥳
