I read somewhere that the devil detests Thomas Kempis' "Imitation of Christ" more than anything. I'm not sure if that's true, but nonetheless, I've been carrying that little red book in my purse for years. It should be part of everyone's library, right next to the Holy Bible. I've been reading more scripture in lent. during mass when the eucharist is present I sit quiet and still. the presence of the eucharist is real.
Very profound counsel: Expect a trial. Eliminate the option. Rewrite the script. Fill yourself with the Word of God.
Jesus: my Way, my Truth, and my Life. In you, and through you, do I live and move, and have my being. By imitating you, I have the all that I need for my Salvation!
"We need to expect the trial."
"In temptation, a person is humbled, purified, and instructed."
We should not despair, therefore when we are tempted, but to PRAY TO GOD MORE that HE will see fit to help us.

God I love you. At the start of Lent I started saying the Angelic Chaplet. It begins "O God come to my assistance, O Lord make haste to help me" I was then inspired by the Holy Spirit to use it in the face of temptation. For several weeks it worked great. Then Satan ramped up his attacks, so I decided to order a pocket gospel which I will receive today. Then I saw this on youtube and decide to give it a listen. You recommended that prayer and that practice. Again, God I love you. Thank you so much Fr. Mike!

What a liar Father Mike is - the perfect "wolf in sheep's clothing".
Jesus said child rape was UNFORGIVABLE (Matt 18:6-14), and everyone who supported it will get eternal damnation. That means every catholic.
Jesus said you should:
1) punish the pedophiles viciously
2) find and help every victim
and it's a sin EVERY SINGLE DAY catholics continue to disobey Jesus.
Every day, Catholics do the EXACT opposite, and use Jesus to get away with it, committing the worst blasphemy possible, also UNFORGIVABLE (Mark 3:28).
Fr Mike will lie to your face and tell you that the goal is the imitation of Christ while his catholic church runs the world's largest child rape cult.

"The Imitation of Christ" greatest translation of the bible on how to live our life like Jesus 🙏🙏 . most read book in history after the bible.
I see your point very clearly. After 19 years of the same argument, I did write the script. Fortunately, they were divorce papers. There is only so much that one person can take, and the other receives. Nothing in return. Believe me, this is it lost on me. I am back in the Catholic Church, it took a long time to get here, but I am much happier. Happier than I would have been if I had stayed married.

Hearing imitation of Christ is so refreshing since these days nobody seems to tell Catholics they should strive to imitate our Lord Jesus Christ. Once I read "Imitation of Christ". Back then, I was pretty eager to do that and for some time, I seemed to lower my goal. Truly our goal is imitating Christ, not just following because each Christian should be another Christ.
Currently doing the Lenten companion and this stuck with me:
When we entertain the temptation, we strengthen the tempter, and the more likely we are going to fail. Resist the temptation immediately, like Jesus.

I bought the book The Imitation of Christ 2 years ago and it’s my goal to read the whole book every Lenten season. I have to say that the book showed me a more peaceful alternative in looking at the stresses in life. It’s the “What is more important in your life?” question. Thank you Father Mike for bringing this amazing book up!
Advice to 'imitate a prototype' and assurance of "Abide in me, and I in you" (RSV John 15:4) has the latter withstanding the extreme tensions of the former.

Deliverence. Every church would have at least three people anointed for deliverance to cast out unclean spirits and/or have people pray and break off generational curses... Deliverance is 1/3 of Jesus' teachings. Don Dickerman isn't Catholic, but has good info on this. Same with Derek Prince. I was delivered from childhood depression and other childhood issues such as suicidal thoughts. After deliverance, gone for years still. Nothing to manage. They are GONE. I keep the doors closed. Best kept secret in religions. Why did they stop this teaching? Most who are against it have never been through it. Thanks for this video.... Good to learn about deliverance in addition to this very wonderful info

So providential, rewriting the script. I honestly felt a lot of temptation and oppression today which I think just came after my newfound motivation after this Ash Wednesday. But in fighting the good fight, I avoided paying any time and attention to that negativity since I felt like it would steal from meditating on what I wanted to give to God. It’s like I wanted to come home, so to speak, and make it on time versus getting delayed while I could spend all my time with the beloved!
Fr. Mike, I had the privilege of attending online talks by a wonderful Franciscan Friars of the Renewal priest, Fr. Augustine (who reminds me so much of St. Philip Neri), from the latter half of 2020 until December 2021. He taught us the same prayer when experiencing difficulty or struggle: "Lord, come to my aid. Lord, make haste to help me". I usually pray that prayer when I suddenly feel worried about my parents or depressed while I'm outdoors. Thank you so much for bringing up the prayer in your homily. God bless. 🙏🙏

I'm really having trouble knowing how to deal with a 20 year trial. It's not the trial itself that is surprising. It's the duration and seeming permanence (in this life) of it.
Hi father mike good to see and hear you I have been Catholic all my life so discourage with the church I don't follow what the pope says haven"t for about 6years I was going to a Christian church which is different it is good to be with other people who believe I follow you father Altman father pavone I listen to Matt I pray I seek answers of what I should do I did go to the latin mass which I enjoy I now found one near my home I do not want to go back to the Vatican 11 church I miss having comunion I had back surgery a few monthss ago then my husband had COVID this week I am going to church of the Latin mass one church of the Latin mass does not follow the pope the prist passed away about a year ago they now have mass in the evening this is hard for me to attend I will try this other church and hope it is not taken away by the pope pop maybe they are not following him he is not one I want to follow I pray for you father Altman I support all the prist that are being prisacuted by the pope and bishops not to stand for the truth I am sure all of you have your crowns as far as the bishops and the pope I wonder what GOD is thinking of them not standing for truth thank you for the mass I hope and pray I keep seeing you and father Altman father pavone cause all of you are my life line to the mass love all of you is there an email I could wright to you thank you GOD BLESS🌈🌈🙏❤️❤️🙏

One question father. You mention taking the weekend off from lent. What is your opinion of Sundays? I've heard that as long as you didn't give up something that is in itself a sin the church not only allows but actively encourages taking Sundays off.

I prefer the definition of a disciple as one who is devoted in service to a greater good / purpose. Not sure I would attribute it to following a single individual, e.g. a rabbi (or priest).
