      Another Fun Fact - For the fight sequence, they filmed round 15 first and then filmed it backwards wiping off the make-up as they went along. They also rented out the Pet shop for a day and a half.

    I lived in Philly when Rocky came out. The whole city went nuts! The radio stations were deluged with calls requesting the theme song. They asked people to stop calling, saying they couldn't play it any more often than they already were, which was about every 15 minutes. Everyone went to Institute of Art to get their picture taken at the top of the steps.

    Philly girl here who lives near the Art Museum and I go see his statue regularly. 🥊 For every person in 1976 who heard the first sounds of the trumpet from ‘Gonna Fly Now’ as the word ‘Rocky’ scrolled across the screen in the opening credits, you were never the same after that moment. That song changed history and epitomizes an underdog becoming champion.

    Amazing our hero finally remembered the American mind set. We love underdogs in this country. We will always support them. He showed that being a great success and not being poor any more did not guarantee happiness. It comes through in all his films. Rambo was a success for the same reason. He endured even more pain and suffering in his life then Rocky. But his long term toughness and his creativity for survival had us on his side all the way through John Rambos life. In the end he finally makes it back home. We learned to love and admire his fictional characters. They are part of “American culture”. To see him at the beginning of all that adventure and success is heartening. Thank you you tube for showing these moments.

    • @tdunph4250
      @tdunph4250 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Corno di Bassetto You could at least admit that you don't really know what your talking about instead of getting out the Thesaurus and having a field day. This was Sly's first appearance on the Tonight Show. I am sure Mr Carson didn't want to intimidate him by making the interview complicated or have Sly become embarrassed by coming across as being too self involved with himself. It was a rather simple, yet informative interview. As with your criticism of Mr Carson, I defy you to find ANYONE nowadays and going backwards to at least when he retired in 1992, who you can mention in the same breath as Johnny. As for your piss poor (yet mildly amusing) reference to stepping on one's opinions versus stepping on an actor's lines? That doesn't make any sense at all. When someone were to step over an actor's lines it would most likely be considered talking over the actor or interrupting them. In the case of "stepping on a person's opinion" that doesn't have the connotation. Stepping one someone's opinion would be constructive criticism., which most people nowadays cannot tolerate thus becoming irate and melting like a snowflake. Melt away kind sir, melt away!

    Everyone that I recommend to see the movie Rocky, is surprised that it is a cerebral love story. If you like a serious film about identity and love in a rough life-course, you need to watch Rocky. Now, the sequels were much less cerebral and more tropey for sure.
