    Another beauty. My favourite parts of your videos are seeing the putter after it has been grinded and the painting process. Really appreciate your help as well (on Instagram) I recently restored my first 2 putters and they turned out pretty good!

    I love this video! I’ve watched it about 10 times! Like today, I really appreciated the filing work. Are you using acetone to clean up the Loctite or alcohol? It looks awesome!!!😊

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clean up the loctite? Or you mean the polymer caulking?
      I use warm water to get the majority off. Then I let it dry in the hard to reach spots, and just use q tips with a little acetone on them just for moisture to rub the rest off. It's actually a very tedious process that seems to be getting more and more difficult. Lol

    Hey man. For the acetone soak what kind of container are you putting it in? And how are you disposing of it afterwards? I’m getting into doing my own restorations and just want to make sure I am doing things safely. Will a sturdy Rubbermaid container work?

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rubbermaid will be fine. I strain and reuse as much as I can, so any waste I cant reuse, I just let it evaporate, then wipe out the container.

    Hello, awesome videos! Out of curiosity. How to ensure after removing material the putters will not rust afterwards? I just bought a Scotty and will be emailing you shortly. It’s got quite a bit of chatter. Many thanks

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  ปีที่แล้ว

      Carbon putters are Coated so are 100% rust proof. Anything left raw is stainless steel so never a worry for rust. Unless you have a carbon putter and request an oil quench type finish or gun blue then it will need maintenance from rust.

      This kit here has all the sizes. amzn.to/3Qk6CIN And I dont bother pulling the silicone dots out anymore, until I pop the insert off. I find the ones with the screws, pull those out and pop the insert off, then I find the appropriate size drill bit and just pop them out one at a time. 10x faster!

    • @rayCtay

      Was that acetone that you presoaked them in to degrade it some?

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rayCtay It was yes. I usually do it to loosen the silicone up a bit and for any left over paintfill.

      @rayCtay ปีที่แล้ว

      @@igolf906have you ever had an extremely difficult time getting the copper insert out? I have tried jamming it out from several different holes, heated it up with my torch, then even tried blunt hits on my screwdriver from the backside holes which now made a bump on the face from the back side from striking too hard.
      Any advice?

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  ปีที่แล้ว

      @rayCtay slow steady pressure and torching it from the front side. Never hit it with a punch, it will continue to damage it. Heat it from the front and slowly push it out from the back. Have to make sure all the screws are out too

    And would that have been closest to stock, or were these blued back then?

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These were black oxide I believe. That's why most of them you see are rusted out. And this was in Graphite Black. I've done them in Gloss Black too and look nice.
