Absolutely mindblowing Soundtrack! Catches everything; atmosphere, action, sadness... stoism, heroism simply! EVERYTHING! Vigilent fast high octane tunes, with such a nice fill! It's unbeliveable how they could manage to get this sound so good on a 8 bit cartridge. Truly pioneers of it's time!
Love it! Some of the best music on the NES. Natsume games had such a great and recognizable sound, thanks to Iku Mizutani's sound driver. Every soundtrack the man touches turns to gold. It would be awesome to see Kouichi Yamanishi's other NES works on this list at some point too: Shatterhand and the under appreciated (and painfully rare) Dragon Fighter (credited as Ukkari Yamanishi). Both are personal favorite soundtracks of mine.
Remember when I borrowed this from a friend. Maybe a few days or a week. Can't really recall but I do remember that in those few days I got longer in the game than he ever did. Never finished it because it got quite intense later on, but still nice memory. The music still kicks ass. "People" might think "computer-music-game" is nerdy.. But I rather listen to this than any "real" song that has been played on the radio for the last ten years. This got some real melodies which I can't say about whatever the radio is offering!
From NES era to todays Wii U/PS4/XBONE era there aren't many games which have soundtracks where every single track is solid. This game together with only a handful of others mark up those games.
+Florin Liviu In my humble opinion no. NES games didn´t always have the oportunity to choose a difficulty level, adapting to each individual player´s skills. Plus, nowadays you can get games with a freeroaming world full of side missions. The NES catalogue has games that have survived the test of time, but I think that a lot of them aged badly.
+Cynical Alexx yes you are right but the test of time shows how good they actually are and the fact that a lot of gamers all around the world still play them means something . Let's not forget that NES and SNES are the fathers of all the new consoles today :) . Nice talking with you , I am happy when I meet a NES fan but I don't think you are a crazy addict fan like me LOL . Have a nice day :)
+Florin Liviu You are right, it´s true that they survived the test of time (Who hasn´t played Tetris, Super Mario Bros. 1/3, Bubble Bobble, Contra, Mega Man 2, Punch-Out, etc). I didn´t grew up in the NES era, I was born 14 years ago, but one has to recognize the masterful design of a game. And it isn´t due to the age of the console, since the Atari 2600 came around 1979 and while it has it´s legacy, it was too primitive. With a few exceptions (Adventure, Indiana Jones and the Lost Arc) you played for 3 minutes an extremely basic game and that was it. On the other hand, games like Ninja Gaiden were pioneers in storytelling, with it´s rich story explained through animated cutscenes. Games like Super Mario Bros and the Mega Man series set a lot of standards in platform games. Contra (though it was originally an arcade, most of us know the home console port) taught us how run and guns should be handled, with it´s multiple-direction shooting. The NES even had a port of one of the greatest arcade games in existence, The TMNT Arcade. My hat goes off to you.
My golden collection of my games was : Captain tsubasa 2 , Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 , Shadow of the Ninja , Dragon Fighter , Kick Master , Adventure Islander 2 and 3 ,Jackie Chan , Final Mission (S.C.A.T.) :D and Kunio Kun Nekketsu Soccer League , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and 3 and Rivercity Ransome ( both NES and GBA ) and Tokyuu Sherei Solbrain . These are my GOLDEN COLLECTION...yeah !!
@230 Yash Bidhuri I live in the UK, I know that there wasn’t as many games available on the NES compared to the states, but I’ve still had some great childhood memories with that console and with the limited games I’ve had
Also I have been a fan of them since I was little and and one my first GBC games was there game Power Rangers Time Force and from then on I have been a fan of them ever since. :)
Espectacular banda sonora, emocionante, epica , yo lo jugue en su momento y hasta tenia q grabar las musicas desde el tv a una grabadora para escucharlas una y otra vez!!!!!
When I pressed the play buton I only said one word : WOW ! I know the game and I played it but now after so many years when I found it and listening to it's music leaves me with no words ... Imagine how it was to a japanese kid in the 80's-90's to have every single best titles like this one when they first came out !? Damn ....
+tibuking Well, there is technology out there to make your OWN 8-bit music, however it is hard as hell to do it if you are NOT a composer or know anything about music or using trackers.
I liked the music so much I brought the game off Nintendo's Virtual Console on the original Wii on my Wii U. It's a challenging action platformer that's worth it!!
Ninja Gaiden Shadow was originally planned to be a Game Boy adaptation of the NES game Shadow of the Ninja. The Nagoya division of Natsume, which developed Shadow of the Ninja, also developed Ninja Gaiden Shadow.
I hate that why my childhood has passed !? Life was most golden at those time and I'm happy that these games are a lot better than today's android -_- . I thank to the person who upload it and I always listen these awesome songs...forever :')
Contra level tier game, co-op was awesome, and ironicly made the game harder. "YOU MOVED UP TO FAST GOD DAMNIT NOW I DIED CAUSE THE FLOOR DISAPPEARED!"
So happy I found this, in europe it was release as "Blue Shadow" - therefore I couldn't find the Wiiguy version. I didn't have a big library in the 90s, so this and Megaman 3 were the OST's I grew up with.
OMG dude ! You are god damm awesome ! I just asked you yesterday for this game and now here it is ! I can't tell you in words how happy this makes me and how good and strange it feels ! It makes me travel instant back to that golden years ! I can't belive how EPIC this games are and how FATAL are the soundtracks !! Thanks again for this EPIC uploads , they mean so much to me !! I have to give a truck of beer for this EPIC uploads !! You are the coolest !! I hope that this games will never die !!
Tell me this isn't Double Dragon 2 style. And it goes to show that this was an Epic Era for chiptune. Shunichi Taniguchi (Wild Guns/Ninja Warriors) has some great art on the cover too.
***** oh shjt, dont know what happened ...i swear i tot i didnt listened that one : / anyways, thx a lot cuz this is the BEST music NES have by far(imo) KAGE rulez!!
stage 5 makes me think of a cross between the museum from the gameboy version of batman, and the stage 1 music from original castlevania. very well done.
I played the heck out this as a kid! This soundtrack is incredibly nostalgic. I perfectly remembered the ending theme and staff roll for more than 20 years. NES had brutally short endings, and the soundtrack would just loop endlessly after credits until you turned it off - always gave me a bitter-sweet feeling. New game+ gamers will never know those feels :D
This is my game when I was 7 years old... Until Tecmo wants to f**king buy them out.. Just so that the Ninja Gaiden title can stand out of a better Ninja game.
KurisuBlaze They should be focusing on the game series that's really their flagship in Pocky & Rocky ;) They make such awesome music in pretty much all of their games.
Today's generation do not understand our 90's timeline when we were playing games and there was no tension in life...I pray that PS3 version of Kage and final Mission must be made by Natsume with these soundtracks and cool 3-D action moves !! :') I really love my Golden timeline.
somewhere beneath, but really they should come back with their great games, i miss all those game, scat and Kage and so many, even if they remake all their games i will play them
say what you want but this was a bad ass super ninja game with some bad ass super ninja music aside of the ninja gaiden NES series....i wouldnt mind seeing a new HD remix version for DL on XBL & PSN....arranged soundtrack and all that....
+WiiGuy's 8BitStereo i made a vidoe test on this game, i played it a lot when i was younger, i beat the boss who transform into a bird but i never get too garuda XD
+Overlord My big bro got my to Garuda but he wasn't able to damage him enough to actually decrease his life. After that,I don't remember any other memory of my brother actually beating Garuda but I'm quite sure he didn't.Ah!Nostalgia.
I don't know why but ninja games make great soundtracks, look at the ninja gaiden's trilogy, it's the only one in my opinion to have a perfect soundtrack in each episode.
I think it would have been much better if the boss fight wasn't lame. I remeber the boss fights are too easy (too obvious patterns) but take so many hits to kill them. It's a good game though, with kick-ass music.
Did anyone find this game to be really easy? If I remember correctly I finished it in a day. My mom got pissed and said I shouldn't have been able to beat the game so quickly and grounded me from games for a while lol.
This game had hands down one of the best soundtracks on NES
One of the best NES soundtracks! :) I love it so ❤❤❤
Most underrated soundtrack on the NES!
Absolutely agree
+Olivier Cadieux oh? who underrated it?... TELL ME...
A dark organisation of evil, which is called... the Internet.
+Olivier Cadieux That internet.. I hate him
Journey to Silius soundtrack is another terribly underrated one
Absolutely mindblowing Soundtrack! Catches everything; atmosphere, action, sadness... stoism, heroism simply! EVERYTHING! Vigilent fast high octane tunes, with such a nice fill! It's unbeliveable how they could manage to get this sound so good on a 8 bit cartridge. Truly pioneers of it's time!
Iki Misutani - Best composer 8-bit ages
The best NES-ending music.
true
So bada$$
Same composer as in shatterhand. Iku Mizutani. It sounds so much the same :)
Natsume made such great titles for NES :) Great memories!
One of the greatest games to never get a sequel.
This game has not need for sequel at all, You'll feel satisfied just like watched an action film when you beat this game through.
But this needs remastered 🔥
This game needs to become new ps5 franchise about badass ninjas
@@dullhandul5952 And now we got a remake !
@@DrXoay where?

One of the best music and games played since school

Simply a fantastic soundtrack. Natsume always knew how to success in music.
From NES era to todays Wii U/PS4/XBONE era there aren't many games which have soundtracks where every single track is solid. This game together with only a handful of others mark up those games.
+Elrinth Nothing from todays era will ever be as perfect and long lasting as NES era was !

you cannot imagine what this OST do to me.
it makes me feel like i relive the best moments in my life
This game / the soundtrack / all a delicious hidden gem in the NES library
For sure, still criminally underrated game.
The most badass intro theme of NES game universe.
Great to listening em once again❤️
Those tunes in this game are fucking awesome and kick ass!!!
My golden collection of my games was : Captain tsubasa 2 , Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3 , Shadow of the Ninja , Dragon Fighter , Kick Master , Adventure Islander 2 and 3 ,Jackie Chan , Final Mission (S.C.A.T.) :D and Kunio Kun Nekketsu Soccer League , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and 3 and Rivercity Ransome ( both NES and GBA ) and Tokyuu Sherei Solbrain . add shatterhand to that list, please :)
There was one more classic Mighty Final fight (NES) :)
@Bolas Tristes Shatterhand = Tokkyuu sherei Solbrain
@ Trilok Baghel well bro ! It was also one of the action game & mostly I used to choose Guy as I love ninjas..
@@SaebaRyo21 mine was Cody because i liked to punch in the face alot xD mate can't believe i am replying after 5 year damn..
The ending theme is just too good!! This ending and double dragon 3 rosetta stones ending have the best outro theme
Used to play this game back in the day, such an awesome soundtrack, but I know the game as Blue Shadow
@230 Yash Bidhuri I live in the UK, I know that there wasn’t as many games available on the NES compared to the states, but I’ve still had some great childhood memories with that console and with the limited games I’ve had
natsume's music never seizes to amaze me. :)
Also I have been a fan of them since I was little and and one my first GBC games was there game Power Rangers Time Force and from then on I have been a fan of them ever since. :)
Wow, the stereo effect really enhances this soundtrack more than others. I never realized how heavy it sounded.
easily one of the best soundtracks on the NES. actually goes good with the echo. thanks wiiguy!
Espectacular banda sonora, emocionante, epica , yo lo jugue en su momento y hasta tenia q grabar las musicas desde el tv a una grabadora para escucharlas una y otra vez!!!!!
The style of this music is almost the exact same as the music of Shatterhand. I'm not kidding.
+alienspacebat Same composer
pale-nac0n Not a surprise, since the developer was the same too, though some developers hire multiple composers.
+alienspacebat same composer maybe`?
***** stupido, use your ears
***** *published* by Jaleco. Natsume developed it.
When I pressed the play buton I only said one word : WOW ! I know the game and I played it but now after so many years when I found it and listening to it's music leaves me with no words ... what artist who created such awesome soundtracks in 8 bit era!! its a shame nowadays having all technology we dont see that!
+tibuking Well, there is technology out there to make your OWN 8-bit music, however it is hard as hell to do it if you are NOT a composer or know anything about music or using trackers.
I like your version best! The left and right channel is totally different and you can clearly hear the harmony!! Love you!
this soundtrack would be definitely in my top 3 of nes games :D
my gosh..i remembered ,that was my fisrt game in my fisrt video game...tubo gamexD
What a nice choice for first game :D
I used to play this gem in my neighbours home in late 90's😇😇
Sin dudas la música de Natsume es lo más!!
I liked the music so much I brought the game off Nintendo's Virtual Console on the original Wii on my Wii U. It's a challenging action platformer that's worth it!!
The band Complex Numbers (russian, not well known in canada or the US) did a remix of the prologue and the stage start!
What made this game stand out is the 2 player option if I remember right, was co-op at the same time.
Yeah, too bad it was harder to play the game unless your partner was better than you :P
Contra level tier game, co-op was awesome, and ironicly made the game harder. "YOU MOVED UP TO FAST GOD DAMNIT NOW I DIED CAUSE THE FLOOR DISAPPEARED!"
Haajala hahaha yeah... that never happened *rolling eyes
So happy I found this, in europe it was release as "Blue Shadow" - therefore I couldn't find the Wiiguy version. I didn't have a big library in the 90s, so this and Megaman 3 were the OST's I grew up with.
It was "Kage" in Japan, it's even harder to find :D
Omegacorpse i also known this game as kage,
Thanks for the post, I listen to this all the time.
I never thought the box art for this game described it very well. It's too blue and orange for a game that has so much black in its color palette.
0:47 Sea Port is the best video game song ever!
I think this is #1 NES OST. And Natsume will probably easily take half of my top 10.
Natsume & Sunsoft were the real deal in the sound dept.
And Konami was sooo close behind them.
Capcom had some great composers
OMG dude ! You are god damm awesome ! I just asked you yesterday for this game and now here it is ! I can't tell you in words how happy this makes me and how good and strange it feels ! Awesomeness in 8-bit form.
Also known as Blue Shadow.
Also known as Kage
it was supposed to be a game boy game as well or was it the other way around hmmm lets check wikipedia
because both games blue shadow and shadow warriors (game boy) has garuda as the final boss
I get sort of a cross between Castlevania II: Simon's Quest and Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword Of Chaos.
I will never ever .....EVER forgive Natsume for having this photo on the cover, thanks Europe for having the manga version wich i have on my cover XD
Wow❤️
This is one of the best soundtracks I've heard for the system!
And I never would have found it without your channel, WiiGuys, so thank you :)
This brings back some old memories :D good memories
Tell me this isn't Double Dragon 2 style.
And it goes to show that this was an Epic Era for chiptune.
Shunichi Taniguchi (Wild Guns/Ninja Warriors) has some great art on the cover too.
This game has amazing ost
Наконец я смогу подобрать ноты на слух) Как удобно в стерео отключать один канал и работать с 2-мя дорожками вместо 4-х в моно)
missing stage 1 song but thanks for making a compilated of all the songs!
Haha, Stage 1 is at 0:47 dude, right there in the tracklist ;)
***** oh shjt, dont know what happened ...i swear i tot i didnt listened that one : /
anyways, thx a lot cuz this is the BEST music NES have by far(imo)
KAGE rulez!!
buena
hola:)
Never heard this one, definitely underated, its excellent.
stage 5 makes me think of a cross between the museum from the gameboy version of batman, and the stage 1 music from original castlevania. very well done.
1:24-1:40 During the first stage theme, it starts to have a "OH MY GOD IT'S CASTLEVANIA OH MY GOOOOOOOOD!!!" feel to the theme.
The intro is sick.
The ending is even sicker
Would LOVE a modern day rendition.
Soundtrack feels very Shatterhand in a way.
On the gameboy the game called Ninja Gaiden Shadow was actually a reskinned Shadow of the Ninja that was in development at the time.
the only ninja game that went toe to toe with the ninja gaiden series!!
that's the reason i didn't found a lot of soundtrack of that game because i knowed it in the name of Blue Shadow ^^
I get some serious Shovel Knight vibes from some tracks :)
I wonder if this soundtrack influenced Kaufman?
I played the heck out this as a kid! This soundtrack is incredibly nostalgic. I perfectly remembered the ending theme and staff roll for more than 20 years. I LOVE THIS GAME SOOOO MUCH!
where is Natsume today? these game were the best! with the best soundtracks
Natsume's still around, but they're focusing on their flagship Harvest Moon series.
KurisuBlaze
They should be focusing on the game series that's really their flagship in Pocky & Rocky ;)
They make such awesome music in pretty much all of their games.
haelsoprofeten but Pocky and Rocky are a Taito franchise. ;)
Kiki Kaikai was originally a Taito produced arcade game in the 80's.
Today's generation do not understand our 90's timeline when we were playing games and there was no tension in life...I pray that PS3 version of Kage and final Mission must be made by Natsume with these soundtracks and cool 3-D action moves !! :') I really love my Golden timeline.
somewhere beneath,
but really they should come back with their great games, i miss all those game, scat and Kage and so many,

Pure magic. 🌟
My favorite game.
say what you want but this was a bad ass super ninja game with some bad ass super ninja music aside of the ninja gaiden NES series....i wouldnt mind seeing a new HD remix version for DL on XBL & PSN....arranged soundtrack and all that....
It's on virtual console on the original Wii. Man it's pretty challenging after the 4th stage, the music is pretty awesome for 8-bit!
I love the music of that game, specially the Level 2 music.
Correction: Dragon Fighter IS on this list! Can't believe I missed that!
OMG,... MY FAVORITE GAME
Really cool soundtrack!
So what are they doing this year? They are SUPER quiet.
feel like chris brown sampled this for his turn up the music
So metal :)
stage3 & stage5 my favorites :)
Pretty darn good themes, and being a hard game, the benefit of replaying is hearing the music more! :D
+WiiGuy's 8BitStereo i made a vidoe test on this game, i played it a lot when i was younger, i beat the boss who transform into a bird but i never get too garuda XD
+WiiGuy's 8BitStereo a hard game? it was pretty damn easy to me hahah
+Overlord My big bro got my to Garuda but he wasn't able to damage him enough to actually decrease his life. After that,I don't remember any other memory of my brother actually beating Garuda but I'm quite sure he didn't.Ah!Nostalgia.
killer game, finished it again some days ago damn hard
I don't know why but ninja games make great soundtracks, look at the ninja gaiden's trilogy, it's the only one in my opinion to have a perfect soundtrack in each episode.
Natsume always had great music.
I do hope Dreamtheater cover these soundtracks :)
Kind of like Special Cybernetic Attack Team, Action in New York and Final Mission. Another Natsume game, golly gee willickers.
the sound of the garuda theme is similar to the 1st boss in an arcade game called gemini wings
0:00
i can still remember the twin tower
Complex numbers, a techno band, did a rework of it. :D
9:52 Final boss from Ninja Gaiden Shadow!
I believe Natsume has became bankrupt.
PUKING RAINBOWS OVER HERE!!!!!! SO MUCH RAINBOW PUKE!!!
私はこれらの曲が大好きです✌ adoro estas músicas.... e cadê a Natsume? 😄
Never played this one. It sounds a lot like Megaman and Castlevania had a baby.
Also known as Blue Shadow (EU) and KAGE (JP)
Yes, of course
The strange thing is that i'm european and I have KAGE (In english).
Thnx, that is just hilarious... They just aren't doing anything amazing anymore.
Final boss
