I did one hunt to try the feature with them and they are cracked out of their minds. Constantly provide buffs through demon powder and hardshell powder, if I place a trap down or want to lure a monster into ivy traps they will actively follow and lure it over, instantly stop attacking the moment the monster gets afflicted with sleep, place bombs if you do for an optimal wake-up, borderline uncartable (a LBG NPC hunter took Rey Dau's max charged railgun to the face and was like 40% hp) And probably a bunch things I didn't notice as I only did 1 hunt with them. But they are absurdly well designed NPC AI.
Sunbreak NPCs can already do everything you mentioned here, like buffing, flashing, trapping, mounting, sleep bombing, inflicting status, using endemic animals, etc. The frequency they do that depends on their behavior (support, balance, or offensive). They are useful in general and they don't deal massive damage because the monster isn't scaled to multiplayer in Sunbreak (correct me if I'm wrong).
So in other words we wont be hearing as many complaints about playing with "randoms" and having them cart all the time. Now we have real fighters who have a good idea of what needs to be done. The analogy to the Summons in Elden Ring is a good one (my summons helped me get thru that game)
I mean Sunbreak has them and they were great, but you had to unlock them as you progress the story, so far it seems Olivia might be unlock at the beginning and I’m guessing you unlock the other two as the story progresses perhaps there’s more of them they haven’t shown or what the full system looks like in the retail version
i don't think 99% of the community have ever complained about randoms in mh. With the exception of alatreon in world cause that was a very specific situation
@@1234numbersnot all randoms are clueless to put it nicely. It will take longer with SH but they are consistent combat wise. Competent Hunters in a SOS is a dice roll but the hunt will end much faster
I'm so glad they brought back this from Rise/Sunbreak, I usually solo hunt and while it is great and a nice test of skill, hunting with a party feels way better. In fact, the followers from Rise/Sunbreak encouraged me to try the multiplayer and even with randoms the game felt much more enjoyable!
The Support Hunters are also very customizable. I didn't use them because I generally prefer to play solo, but I noticed in the menus you can turn off a lot of their interactions if you don't want them too powerful, such as mounting, traps, even power clashes and offset attacks.
Now i wanna see if they add personality to our NPC helpers. Would be funny if we can bring fledgling hunters and a seasoned NPC schools them lmao like of they flash at the wrong time the season hunter will get mad lol
They use flash pods at decent times and traps. Definitely better than some randoms. But when you've put a ton of hours into Monster Hunter, you start to welcome the chaos from randoms.
I'd rather they be a little better than average players than the alternative. Might actually use them if it means the occasional flash gets used, tho maining two parry weapons I kinda like being targeted more often. Time to experiment with the lure shot maybe
So funny story, I finally went after Rey Dau in the last hour of the beta and forgot that I wanted to test the support hunters out. So I sos and forgot it was a doshaguma hunt and they never showed up for me because they were hunting the main target. It took me 10 minutes or so before I realized because I was tired and when I tried to cancel the sos they glitched and didn’t go away so I was stuck with a 4 person scaled Rey Dau for my first encounter and failed the hunt 46 minutes in. He was limping and probably only a few hits from dying…then the time for the beta was up…
For the longest time during the beta I thought they were actually other players joining my hunts. The AI is unreal, buffs and heals. And their use of flashpods was absurdly good. I really hope we can customize them and give them better equipment later too.
You can move around faster by looping: backwards walking shell into long back hop. Finish by using focus mode to turn around and engage with lunging wide sweep into wyrmstake full burst.
1:59 That’s the most accurate flash bang I’ve ever seen. I hope they make flash pods in master rank the new normal. I have ptsd of getting flash every 20 seconds.

Honestly i will do likely like in sunbreak. Play trough with friends or solo. And if i gotta clear out alot of quests. (I aim for 100% in games i really like.) I tend to use ai hunters to not have to wait people, but maybe the sheer volume of players will change that.
The games are already easier than ever so i dont see myself using them much outside of cool story moments and to maybe speed up some annoying farm, but its a cool feature. Sure would have loved them helping me farm G rank gold rathian in 4U a few days ago :)
great now size of the mp hunters pool will shrink even more i like playing with people even if they suck sometimes i suck too now the ai can carry you ? man how not to sell me on this game
No one complained about it in Sunbreak. Not everyone has a good internet connection. It’s really a non-issue. Especially since we have cross-play and 100-player lobbies now, the online player pool shouldn’t be an issue.
Well its entirely an optional feature. I don't plan on using it because I personally think joining randoms, playing with my dedicated group, and soloing is significantly more fun. I see this feature there for those who's internet is unstable or can't play online at all but still want some semblance of MP.
The pool of multi player hunters is bigger than ever, goofy. The game is cross play on 3 platforms. I doubt you'll have a hard time finding people to play with.
The pool will be great. If you only played world/rise in 2024 then I understand why you have that perspective, but when world was released there were a ton of people playing and sos flare took only 30 sec for someone to respond.

the fact that they don't count towards the cart limit is crazy.
I bet you could use a hunting horn for buffs and just let them kill it by themselves
