Tbf since it’s optional stuff I’m down for it. I know sunbreak had a controversial endgame, but I personally found it a lot of fun apart from the slow anomaly level progression and low rank afflicted hunts
i think this guy is harder than rey dau cause rey dau's attacks are slow and very telegraphed. After doing big attacks rey also stops any actions so you have alot of big openings. 4 or 5 star Dosha on the other hand has faster attacks that hit like a truck and is harder to hit similar to Goss Harag.
this has been true for a lot of these fanged beasts compared to flying wyverns. Their body skeletons don't have any real tells or visual indications. Their moves just sort of happen, and now that Capcom have doubled down on delayed attacks somewhat, make them frustrating to hunt. This is why Offset moves requiring preempting the timings a little is gonna suck for these kinds of fights.
@@bladechild2449 I dont agree at all, Dosha has Great attack Tells, you can even see them in this video, every big attack and even small ones have a certain motion to show that its coming, many attached to its head as the starting point, which Then travel to other parts of the body throughout the animation.
@@Tommyvang187I would still say flying wyverns have some of the best tells, not to mention they are the most common monsters. But yeah doshuguma has some good tells.
low level monsters with oneshots and extra hp are always the worst, cause they arent given as much time and care for their animations and development as bigger monsters so it gets rough, mostly impatience from the simple moveset causes mistakes, but thats a personal problem. definitely the hardest monster ad by a long shot
I was trying out dual blades and pummeled a 2 star doshugama, constantly popping wounds and whatnot, but just now I fought a 4 star one thinking "oh how much different could it be?" Went through all my heal items, took 3 times as long to kill, and I could barely get any wounds to show up. I was surprised as just how much of an impact the star difference made for the same monster.
Yeah it looks like you're hunting an HR level monster with either basic LR gear or real early HR gear, which.. yeah. You're gonna get your shit rocked in.
I really like how they made gunlance branch off of lance's poke gameplay even more with wilds there's so much more to its movesets now, with shelling even used as a movement tech to dodge or reposition
I kinda wonder what the reward disparity will be for this. Because if it's just a few extra mats or something, people won't bother with them. Now, increased chances at gems and stuff... perhaps.
every time I've hunted a monster that said it would promise more rewards ended up filling my screen with mats, it made the brain juice happy seeing them
I think its neat to find more stars of the same monster. It can help provide an extra layer of challenge to familiar foes, even if it's basically just more health and damage.
Noticed myself today, i was just starting to try out the other weapons as i grab the greatsword and chase a 5 star doshaguma and my hunt was going pretty well until he reached that part when he enrages and opens up his old wounds, proceed to cart me in one hit LOL
@ It does keep the other wounds, allowing for easy big damage if you can reach them, so I’d argue it ultimately makes the hunts quicker, especially in Co-op.

I was thinking that he was a bad tempered Azuros as well. well done fight!
I kept feeling like the Doshagumas I was fighting were sometimes more difficult than the Rey Daus I fought. This might be why. I no-carted Rey Dau on every weapon, but maybe the real challenge would have been no-carting 5* Dosha.
i fought Rey Dau till it's nesting ground which had electric fields all over the ground and i found a cool Pod that dissipates electricity on the ground. I wonder if it prevents Rey Dau from enraging if i shot the pod at it. Didn't get to try as i killed it already. It does remove the electric field on the ground when i shot at the ground.
From what I know all it does is create an environmental hazard when he attacks the ground. It would leave a delayed electrical explosive on certain attacks it does

Hey caoslayer, do you think WSFB is the best combo right now? Or do you think spamming regular fullbursts is much better? Because by the looks of it, fullbursts do better damage compared to wyrmstakes which only do about 1-3 damage per tick. And it also doesn't help that one of the startup moves you need to do for a WSB, the wide sweep, was heavily nerfed in terms of damage. But I don't know I'm not really a math guy. Maybe some other people smarter than me can tell what the most optimal combos are.
now that the beta is over I got time enough to sit down and break down combos and timings and try to properly figure out stuff. My gut feeling is that burst spam is great at small windows and if you don't have the stake ready.
@caoslayer Ah, okay. I mostly just spammed fullbursts and took advantage of those faster recovery animations. Not to mention that Guard is able to cancel those recovery animations now so that really made me wanna just spam fullbursts everytime with no worries. I honestly think that even if those were the only things added to the Gunlance this gen, I would've already been satisfied. But they really went above and beyond with this weapon this time around. Sometimes I think they actually hired a gunlance main for once while they where trying to make this game lol. With all of that said, I still feel weird about WSB and WSFB though. I think this is the first time where gunlance had a move that did multiple different attacks at once with a single button press. So I'm still getting used to that. I know higher animation commitment isn't new to gunlance, but this one feels a bit different than before. But yeah, I still very much appreciate them being added into the game. Here's to hoping we get to master those WSFB guard points in the future.
