  • Mission: Accepted features successful med school applicants. We dive into their full applications, looking at specifically what worked well, along with what they could've done even better.
To apply to be featured on Mission: Accepted, fill out the application at MissionAccepted.tv/apply.
If you like Mission: Accepted, be sure to check out my other series Application Renovation, in which I give feedback to students who got rejected from medical school. We follow a similar format with full, detailed application breakdowns: applicationrenovation.com/

So how should you write an activity that you have done until you submit your app and then plan to do after submission?

No way! I've been watching this series for a while and its so inspiring to see someone who attended the same undergrad that I do. Congratulations on the acceptances, well deserved!

This is awesome. She displayed a great amount of Dr Gray’s recommendations and it paid off. Excited to follow this content into the application cycle

Wow that personal statement was rough. I'm surprised someone wanted to interview her after reading that.

@@YanpingSoongNora Her entire personal statement comes off as very negative, and her stories that are supposed to show impact seem shallow.
Paragraph 1: She states that her expectations were to be silenced by the OB/GYN yet her mom was a patients of this Dr for years. Wouldn't her mom have mentioned that there was a problem with this Dr or change doctors if she was really that bad? Why did she go into the visit with such a negative attitude without even giving the Dr a chance? Maybe she had previous visits with other docs that didn't go well and assumed this visit would be similar but more context would have been necessary to explain that.
Paragraph 2: Not bad, the first part is more aspiration and would work better as a conclusion to the essay.
Paragraph 3: This paragraph comes off as very negative overall. I think it could have worked had she focused on giving one concrete story rather than listing some comments.
Paragraph 4: She leaves a woman having an asthma attack to talk to the nurse and her big moment was asking her for the inhaler a second time? It's a very insignificant moment and I'm confused how asking for the inhaler a second time for a big moment for her. She mentions two medications which I'm assuming are albuterol and a steroid, only albuterol is important for immediately treating an asthma attack and the EMTs already have that. It's concerning that she left her partner alone with a patient in distress. She should have stayed to stabilize that patient and then sort out medication issues.

How short-sighted are you to continue to defend it just because it advocates for women? No matter what the subject material, if you are negative and pretentious on your personal statement, it is still a wonder how she got that many interviews.
But I guess some adcoms can be just as gullible and ignorant as you.
