  • Mission: Accepted features successful med school applicants. We dive into their full applications, looking at specifically what worked well, along with what they could've done even better.
    To apply to be featured on Mission: Accepted, fill out the application at MissionAccepted.tv/apply.
    If you like Mission: Accepted, be sure to check out my other series Application Renovation, in which I give feedback to students who got rejected from medical school. We follow a similar format with full, detailed application breakdowns: applicationrenovation.com/

    She totally should’ve applied to Wayne State SOM. They check off all the “boxes” in terms of class size, diversity, affiliation w children’s hospital, in a city etc.

    guess proper comma use isn’t necessary to get into med school

    It’s not that anyone gets in only because of their race, it’s that your race didn’t make it harder for you. There’s a huge irony in not recognising that “privilege” (to use the verbiage) when applying to medical school.
    That said she’s extremely competitive and personable, so yeah she definitely deserves it. Affirmative action does a disservice in this way, that some people may think she didn’t have phenomenal stats and experiences

      Yes I completely agree. She is a 4.0 African-American and that essentially gave her a ton of points in my opinion. For example, it is a huge red flag for someone to mark "Most Meaningful" to an activity they had 0 hours in, but not something they spent 550 hours in. It could just be a small hiccup, this is not to demean her academic achievement, but I have seen far too many impressive 4.0 Caucasian or Asian applicants in Application Renovation.

      You guys need to put this to rest. You didn’t get in because you weren’t good enough. She, and other black kids, get in because they were. Get better experiences and interview better.

    • @chi7087

      “Some people may think she didn’t have phenomenal stats”… you’re just racist…. like… that’s why you think that

    • @AlphaNumeric123
      @AlphaNumeric123 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chi7087 Blacks get far lower MCAT scores and GPAs, but are let in on average explicitly for affirmative action reasons (AMA says this openly). They're also twice as likely to drop out. I guess objective facts that you don't like are racist, lol the entitlement and delusion is unreal with you. I'm at top 5 but nice try. I would take advantage of the scholarships and easier admission if I was you too, I don't blame you at all

    • @AlphaNumeric123
      @AlphaNumeric123 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chi7087 Also genius, I was saying "some people may think" and DISAGREEING with that logic. People definitely think that black people are let in with lower stats--because it's a matter of fact. Check AMA stats, Einstein.
