  • Finished setting up my RE 350 Classic with the CAT removed and free flowing hot bottle exhaust and DNA Air filter and stage 2 cover, result is a far better running engine that pulls higher gears at lower revs without that strangled engine lurching as before in stock set up. It tops out at 75 mph on stock gearing for those interested but that's not what this bike is about..impressed with the changes, costs;
    DNA Filter with stage 2 cover available for £75 if both in stock at Hitchcocks UK
    Cat replaced with 42mm OD stainless pipe - £8 on eBay
    Steel black short bottle exhaust from India - £54 on eBay
    If you enjoyed this check out my playlist for my Royal enfield Classic 350, thanks!

    Looking at the filter and new cover cap, it looks like the space I use for docs in the side should be taken out. Wondering if the cover allows all the free breathing that the new cover allows?
    I could put the docs on the other side I suppose - not as nice, but would work...
    Might just order these and the 16-tooth sprocket as well. Fun to do some simple upgrades with Fall weather coming!

    With regards to the stage 2 cover,do you think the standard cover could be opened up with a hole saw and cleaned up with a smooth file then replaced? Or would a hole interfere with fitment after?

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark, I have seen some people post in the past they had cut the original cover and opened it up with a drill,
      Some people fit both DNA and Stage two as I did, some just fit the DNA filter and leave the box stock, some leave the stock filter and fit the freer breathing stage 2 end, I bought the DNA as it’s washable an so reusable which I like, and at the time the stage 2 end was also in stock at Hitchcocks U.K., but I’m sure if you drill the original cover you should get te sane results at the stage 2 end cover, hope this helps! 👍😁

      Hi Alex, the pannier rails and panniers. We’re from India via eBay, sadly they are copied and not genuine RE items and poor fitting with wrong length bolts etc and rusting already at the welds and not on salted roads yet,

    I have the DNA filter 2stage kit which is great. Even sounds better! I do like the look of the original exhaust though on mine. I no you can just de cat it! But wondered what your thoughts on knocking the cat gubbins out of the standard pipe 🤔 and re fitting it? Only issue could be not time in 3 year's. What do you think ? Does it feel considerably more torque or not! The air filter has made a difference already. Not bothered about speed at all though. I altered my thruxton baffle and lost mid range torque until I fitted a K&N

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert, I think the mid range increase is part de cat and part DNA filter - that’s just seat of the pants feel not on a Dyno etc, think best keep the CAT complete and just buy the Hitchcocks de cat mid pipe for the £90 and use stock silencer and see how it goes?, prob best keep the CAT for future MOTs as probably expensive to purchase new going by car prices

      Hi Andrew, I bought these on eBay via India and although approx half the price of those here in U.K. and waterproof they are it turned out copied and the left pannier frame is made wrong and the pannier bag does not sit on correctly. Hi Rockintigger, the tank rack stayed secure but I only used to bungee waterproofs on it, but once I had painted the bike green the suction pads would not hold it secure enough to trust it, possibly from my rough paint spray!, so I tgen used magnets from cheap Chinese Go Probmagbet mounts but the threads are really not long enough-I solved this with a dollop of Arladite rapid and it’s solid now 👍😁, but on your stock paint the rack is firm enough stuck 👍😁

I’m also decatting her (sounds painfull without anaesthetic 🥴) but it looks like I’ll have to lose the centre stand as the cat’s got two rubber stops it rests on, but I’ve got a paddock stand to fall back on. That is really the main question. Would be nice if someone has got an answer.
      Also to see the color of the ignition plug before and after installing the DNA filter says a lot about if everything is working fine.

      @@dertechniker8867 Instal cold and then after fitting, let the engine idle for 15 minutes (without revving) to let the ECU recalibrate.

      I believe as mentioned in above comments the fuel system seems to reprogramme itself - it is quite hard at first to have the faith it’s ok - maybe that’s after years of old carburettors on motorbikes! 😁👍

    I'm thinking the filter swap would improve performance even without the cat removal....

      The bike is definitely running a bit cooler with the cat removed- which must be a good thing, but yeah the change in filter is probably the most noticeable improvement in improved power at low to mid range through the gears
