I'm on the same journey with my Classic 350. So far I have installed air filter, exhaust, windscreen, and a cam. The windscreen is surprisingly critical in getting the top speed out of this bike. As for the speed limiter, it is in the ECU and uses the front abs tone ring data. I have it on good authority that the hunter ecu/throttle body does not have the limiter and is a direct swap with no programming necessary. I'll be making this swap sometime in March. I fully believe the little J engine is capable of 90mph and I intend to prove it. Why you ask? Cause I can and it's fun to try.
Very interesting input. Highly doubt i'll ever do the windscreen but the hunter throttle body confuses me. I dont understand why the throttle body would make any difference. I'll ask my RE rep and my shop if they know anything about that.
@@FoxParasyte the ECU is permanently attached to the throttle body. Your RE dealer probably won't be able to help you as I haven't had much luck in that regard. The parts are available on eBay though.
I have an old CB250 for the Smokey Mountain 500 vintage ralleys. It is shocking what a simple Spitfire windshield does above 45mph for a tall rider. The RE350 is basically equivalent in power torque to that Honda 234cc twin....except the Honda doesn't have limiters built in. Just a mild cam and a gear ratio...that can be altered easily. However you may rag out the motor quicker.
Purchased the Classic 350 2 years ago….have loved every minute in it! Got me back in the mc groove after having stepped away for about 10 years…. 63 years old and hoping to ride for many more years! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I really needed a video like this. I turn 18 next month and plan on getting my first bike and i've been looking at all my options and Royal Enfield was a choice for me because it was the first bike I had ever been on in my life and we're also indian. We live in Texas and if you don't know, we go fast to say the least. So thank you.
As a re hunter 350 owner I recommend a.honda. I do enjoyy hunter, but you will like a rebel 300 or 500 more. Re has rather mediocre parts support and dealer support here in the USA. If u lived in India I'd say definitely.
@@FoxParasyte why not 300? Has more performance than hunter 350. I mean I'd rather have the 500 but while we're talking id rather have the 1100. But if op is wanting a re 350, there not bad and have a ton of character. Iv hit 80mph on mine and to be honest if you don't mind and not having passing power the new re 350s do just fine cruising at 70mph. The 5th gear acts as a overdrive so your not running super high rpms like say a Suzuki drz400.wich has way more power but revs so high at those speeds you feel like your killing it. But yea is recommend any of the Japanese makers over any.one else
@@blakecrosby5123 i really didnt care for the 300. My friend had one that she wanted me to try out for 100 miles. Its NOT a bad bike but for the price i don't see a point in buying the 300 over the 500. Im working on having the cam installed and removing that speed limiter. A guy i know from Austria has a 350 that goes 87mph apparently without pulling hard on rpms The 1100 is absolutely lovely and i would love to have one to add to my collection 😂
I just got my California motorcycle endorsement because of this bike. Since I didn't need it to commute to work or any other type of necessary riding, it is strictly for pleasure. I have no problem using GPS clicking the avoid highways check box in settings and cruising up the 101, or up to Julian, or any number of beautiful rides that is pleasurable just for being a road. It is so much fun for that purpose and I am 100% satisfied with this purchase.
Speed limit on UK motorways and duel carriageways is 70 mph. I've done a good few hundred miles on motorways doing 60, and it's been fine. Mind you, trucks and people towing can only do 60 so i just tucked in behind a lorry and crunched the miles. No worries. On the whole, UK drivers are pretty good about overtaking so i didn't feel pressured. 😊
I bought a 2023 Classic 350 because of the high MPGs. I got around 75 mpg during the first 500 miles so I'm happy. I plan on taking back roads when I travel and will stay away from highways/freeways. If I wanted to do highways I would have gotten a bigger bike. Even if I could do 85 mph I wouldn't go on highways with this little bike. I am happy with my RE Classic.
@@MrBlaze256 75 mpg was the initial break-in mpg. I didn't let the bike go over 45 mph during this time. I took the bike on a "shake-down" cruise of 180 miles afterward and got 85 mpg keeping the bike at 65 mph.
I have a 22 Signals edition and the only mod I did was installing the large opening airbox cover. On the freeway, with the larger filter cover I am able to hold a steady 70-73 which is fine for where I live. last summer I ran 2100 miles in five days in the mountains and the bike did well. Overall, it could use another 5 hp but it is good as is, it meets my current riding needs.
I like your bike man. I myself have a hunter 350 and it’s a pretty good bike, the way you show your bike is amazing and the way you modify it is amazing too , I am thrilled to see your next video on the classic 350. ❤❤
I love the Hunter. I thought about getting one and modifying it a little different compared to the classic. They have different exhaust set ups and parts for it over the other 2 350cc models. Thank you!
Not going to lie, I take my classic 350 everywhere, its such as blast just to ride it in general. I'm a sucker for single cylinder air/oil cooled motorcycles. I have done the same upgrades and it was worth every penny
Really enjoyed your video and past videos. Im buying in 3 months the Classic or Bullet 350 and Im planning on making the same mod (decat mod, fuelx and DNA), but being european half of the problems you got on highway dissapear, here you can go 75Mph constanly and you are quite safe, being "slow" on the right side of the highway is quite respected and hey, if I plan to do 3 hour trip being able to go 100Mph speed is useless. The next understandable mod next is the cam mod, but I find it over my needs. This bike is all about style, sound and efficiency. Thanks for the video mate.
Sometimes design or style is more important to someone than performance. It might not be the best tool for everything, but it has perks for some things, and that's enough for some people to want it over other selections. The classic style is gorgeous, and these bikes are simple, reliable, and have tons of mods you can do even aside from the performance. I look forward to seeing what you do with the future mods!
Oh for sure. I LOVE the way the classic looks. Performance upgrades aren't totally necessary but can help in certain situations depending on what the rider so desires. I have a handful of modifications that i plan on undergoing with the Classic that have nothing to do with general performance. Levers, seats, shocks, ect... so that will happen......... when spring comes around lol
A middle of the lane full frame size bike that can't make a pass of a slow car or a truck in under 10sec is a danger....plain and simple. To cripple a 350 down to 20hp or less at the factory is moped/scooter logic to comply with a nanny state rule somewhere. The other reason may be the casting and parts are substandard and therefore should not be pushed to their fail limits. Don't know if that's in play with this motor.
@@michaelmurdock4607 under stressed does not equal bulletproof. If I never drive a Yugo or Vega too much or over 20 in warm weather...then is it bulletproof? How come Triumph makes 400s with 38hp? That's India....and that bike has been selling in India for years before coming to EU and NA markets this year.
@@STho205 triumph 400 are liquid cooled....you can make air-cooled 350 make close to that much power but you aren't going to pass the modern emission and noise regulations.
@@superchargedpetrolhead reasonable, but put a much better after market fuel manager on thevRE FI and the output temp drops in half, emissions are lower and the thing doesn't sputter and pop 1930s style on decel. Air cooled true Japan 250s could still pass emissions with 20hp or better. I would summarize they cheaped out on the fuel injection and electronic ignition across the board, like avoiding the water pump.
I love that you share a passion for bikes! In other news, birthday is tomorrow and celebrating it with a huge bang, going to GoodWill and DiscTraders (depending on weather) and ready for everything ^^
My Birthday is right around the corner as well. I might be heading out to the disc replay come Monday and other areas to film. Who knows. Either way Happy Birthday!
My Classic 350 is right up there with my favorite all-time bikes. Because it is so fun! I am picky about the highways I take her on, but oh well. Between the incredibly low purchase price, amazing fuel economy (I'm getting upwards of 80 mpg) and just the joy of riding, these bikes can't be beat.
Very insightful video. I have been impressed with your vlog skills and wealth of information. I have the DNA stage 2 and decat pipe with open silencer. Can tell big difference in "get up and go" even above 55 mph. Still on the fence on the fuelx. Going back to watch your review on it again. Thanks for your work and looking forward to your next one.
Honestly i think the Fuelx LITE is the way to go unless you really want a manual way to adjust the fuel mixture with the PRO version. The thing that sold me on the device working was the header temps before & after the install. If i ever get my hands on a SCRAM i'll get the PRO and do a separate series with that bike.
very good video, thank you. Here in Wyoming, 80 mph speed limits, coupled with an altitude often above 5000 feet, makes riding the 350’s a challenge. Also, add 35 mph headwinds to the equation , just for fun. That said, I do enjoy riding my little 350. That’s from a guy who once owned a 97’ CBR1100 Blackbird.
I had the 2005 500 Electra X and the 2018 Classic 500, first thing I did on both was raise gearbox sprocket ! tooth, could have even gone 2. makes a big difference on highway, mind you, the 500 had enough power to pull it up hill and down dale. Then did the exhaust mods to loose weight and improve flow.
I have installed a 16 tooth drive sprocket which helps the engine to run a bit more relaxed and sit more comfortably at higher speeds. And it kinda improves the fuel economy. My next mods will be a new cam shaft and a rev counter.
Thanks for the video! Judging by the condition of the roads you're riding, I'd guess you're in Michigan? I grew up in the Detroit area. Know those roads very well. Cheers to you for having the courage to ride the Classic 350 in those conditions. I don't have the nerve to do that. Enjoying riding my Hunter 350 on Tennessee backroads at the moment. May brave that trip to Michigan if ever I buy an Interceptor 650.
Your modifications won’t be fully realized until you put in a bigger cam, and Hitchcock’s has a dyno chart for the stage two cam. It appears to give the 350 roughly the same power as the Himalayan 411. Keep in mind that you’ll be looking at horsepower at the wheel, not the crank.
My thing is, numbers don't really mean a damn thing to me for Dyno. 25 to 30% increase in HP in theory sounds absolutely amazing, but do those numbers translate to real day to day riding? That's what i'm curious of when i install the Cam.
No doubt this bike is a unique & atrack more attention than any Kawasaki or Suzuki.... & It my personal opinion that bike should be look like this.... Other than platic bundle ... Awesome video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice bike. I have an Interceptor 650 with filter and exhaust update which makes it go so much better. Highly recommend Quad Lock over the X Grip by the way.
Once again, a great video. Do you find the 350 sounding strained at 65mph? Buzzy? Do you get the feeling you are doing it harm by running extended times at freeway speed? I don't have a problem with a 75mph speed limiter but going max revs all day sounds like a good way to wreck the bike. People have tried the larger sprocket and commented that it made the bike more relaxed at 65mph, but it doesn't increase the top speed and it tends to bog it down in slow speed acceleration. Half the people that put it on report that they removed it after running it for a while. They did not have the performance mods on it, however. I read that the cam can add about 5hp to the bike, it is targeting the low, mid range performance envelope, the complexity of installation makes me leery of it. It would undoubtedly void the warranty.
So... here's my thoughts. A STOCK 350 is definitely strained at 65+ and yes is buzzy. Granted i have NOT had a stock bike that has been past the brake in period. That being said the bike modified like mine has zero issues going to the speed limiter. No vibrations, buzziness, strain. If it wasn't for that limiter i know it would go past 80 all day long. As it sits at 75mph, top gear on flat land. The bike displays the "eco" sign on the dash which it never really did as frequent prior to all these mods. The problem lies with the fuel mixture needing to be balanced. Which is where that Fuelx comes into play. Without it you more than likely will cause damage to the engine (long term) I have zero desire to touch the sprocket size, don't see a point unless im upgrading the quality of the sprockets and chain. As far as the CAM goes. People say that it adds 5HP but they neglect to say whether or not it is just the Cam alone or combined with other performance mods. A dealer that i'm working on a sponsorship/partner with is more than willing to install the cam and test it out. He says a lot of that warranty stuff is "bullshit because majority of the dealers here in the US don't have a clue about these bikes" I'm not installing the cam on my own. The dealer is going to help me and is willing to allow me to document the process for the following "PRE" episode.
I used to live in S W Michigan. That where you live mate? I know there's a Royal Enfield Dealership in Elkhart. I'm a Brit with a classic 350. I popped over the pond to visit some mates last spring. Dropped by the dealer and bought some merchandise I haven't seen in the UK. Like your work mate. Cheers! 👍😀
Yeah i used to deal with them, but there was a personal issue that happened so i try to go anywhere else. I love Michigan. Used to be from Chicago, the placement was a crap hole by the time i left several years ago. Love the classic, i also hate you for having colors that UK has that us Americans don't. 😂 Cheers!
@FoxParasyte I used to live in S W Michigan. Nearly 3 years. Lived in Chicago for 6 months in the 90's. Hard winters. Weird about the colours thing. Wasn't aware of that! Have you seen the new Royal Enfield Shotgun? Bloody lovely. My fave is the green. Also, the new black and gold Royal Enfield Continental GT is breathtaking! I'd love one but at my age, I don't think I could hack the riding position. 😄
Yeah buddy you have way better colors and graphics on the UK bikes than we do in the US. I've seen snippets of the Shotgun and the New Himalayan. They both look great though the Himalayan makes me wonder. That bike is far more advanced than RE has done in the past. So i can only imagine in the next few years we'll have totally digital instrument clusters and higher tech equipment which i'm not sure how i feel about that. I desperately want a GT in green to turn it into a proper race bike with the full faring and kit. But like you idk if i can deal with the rider position. My foot is still recovering damn near 3 years later lol.
Enjoyed the video! I used to have an Interceptor 650, and would be interested if we get the Bullet 350 here in the US. I’ve not ridden any of the 350’s, so the only insight I have on them is from videos like this!
I want to fully custom a GT650 to have that full fairing idk if my F-ed up foot would be happy with that but i love the bike far too much. Idk if i want another 350J series bike here but i'd gladly take a 500 single of the bullet and classic
Those fully faired GT’s look amazing. I think Baxter Cycle out in Iowa had a couple fully assembled and painted a while back. I remember drooling over them on their website! If I had all sorts of money to play with, one of those with the big bore kit and some higher end suspension would make for pretty slick bike!
I enjoyed your video. It's very enlightening about driver courtesy in your part of the world. There is a guy motomorten on youtube that has done the cam and before/after 0-60's and it seems very similar to your 0-60 without the cam.😕 It looked like the times were based on the speedo rather than the s/w you used. Also there seems to be talk about the hunter throttle bodies being used on other j series bikes to remove the speed limiter, if that is of interest. I'm looking forward to any more mods videos.
Hmmm, yeah i can't go based off the speedometers anymore because of their inaccuracy. When i do get around to the Cam i'm definitely going to include numbers before and after. But instead of doing the best of 3 runs to 60mph. I'll do 10 runs and go based off the best and the average speed. If i can get a hold of a bone stock 350 and do a proper numbers run between the 2 bikes. that would be amazing but we'll see if that's doable with the dealer/partner i'm working with come springtime.
Fuzzy Biker from Iowa has a video of a Classic 350 that was "hot rodded" by Baxter Cycle. A cam was installed in that bike. Check it out. Obviously, for those of us here in the States who want a big single based on this platform, the best solution would be if RE would make a 500cc version of the Classic/Bullet. They could bore this very solid and dependable engine just enough to make it a bike that could, easily, get down our highways at 75+ all day long. By the way, I took demo rides on all three of the 350 variants during the Sturgis Rally and everyone of them had a speedo that was 3mph optimistic.
I've seen that video and their Scram one. I just wish they had something to record numbers instead of feel. I say that because when i put my exhaust on i felt like i was going far faster, when in reality it was damn near the exact same. a 500cc classic now that the RE name has been successful in the US would be a big hit. So long as they keep it a 1cyl. I don't want a 2cyl classic at all.
Great stuff mate. USA is way more concerned over highway perfomance than Europe.because of its huge size I do it at 60mph inside lane usually behind trucks beyond their air wash . However I avoid them normally as much as possible just because they are so bloody boring. Back road relaxed riding is what these are spot on for. No bike does it all . A Goldwing is great on highways but around town and back roads you can do it but god they are a lump.
since the ECU uses the speed indicator from the ABS for the speed limiter, it makes sense to take the ABS rings to a machine shop and have them plasma cut another one with less tabs and spaced further from eachother for the sensor to pick up. Therefore the ECU would think the bike is traveling slower than it really is. This may effect the ABS function but it's a retro bike so pretend you are driving a vintage which didn't have ABS. Just a thought.
@@FoxParasyte that would be the cheaper and easiest way. However, if you would still like the warning lights to work and not have them illuminated all the time then the modified rings would be your option.
I like the mods you have done and would do similiar. My question is - do the mods allow you to have enough power to get a rear sprocket with fewer teeth? This would allow lower rpms on the highway and higher speed- as long as there's enough power. Adding the windscreen to me is essential. If that's not enough I would add the cam. All along i will have an oil temp gauge. If oil temp is over 180F- it gets an oil cooler - to preserve engine life. If that isn't enough to me and if oil temp is low, I'm headed to get a higher compression piston, which wouldn't hurt gas mileage but make it better with correct gearing. I don't even have my classic 350 but I can't wait!
You can twist and turn whatever upgrade about the engine, sprockets and exhaust / intake, still the fact remains it's a 20hp motor and the bike isn't getting any lighter. Changing a sprocket will give you a higher top speed at the cost of some acceleration, gearing down will give you the opposite. Going on highways is bad enough with this bike, even though you can hold it above a 100 kmh, you feel the engine reving pretty much already. Thus a 6th gear would be great here, nevertheless would the gearbox be able to take the stress? If so why didn't RE make it a 6-gear box? I have this bike and I've been over this a 100 times, you can tune it to death yet never become fully satisfied. That is why last week I bought the Shotgun and I'm selling my 350 Classic. The Shotgun is very similar to the 350, only with a double sized motor and a bit heavier. It'll shoot away and catch those Harleys on the highway any day ;) I should add that I love my Classic 350, it has given me plenty of joy and fun days for about two years, BUT, both I and my spouse are kind of 'heavy people' so the Shotgun is really what I've been waiting for.
It is restricted via the fuel injection module. Someone has replace their module with one from the hunter and the restriction is gone. You can find the video on here somewhere.
@@FoxParasyte My bad. But there is a another way. BHP UK in Hull England released a video recently stating that they had an ecu work around. Maybe drop them an email.
I fitted the same optimiser that you have and put a 16 tooth front sprocket on it also fitted an on off switch on the ABS and she’s good for a whisker under 90 mph 0 to 60 is around 8 seconds if you short shift into 3rd then hold to 4th and again till it s showing 65 then let her wind up to top speed she be doing that in about the same time a stock bike will get to 60 ish the fuelling is indeed overseen by the ABS and is way better with the ABS switched off , plus above 60 mph you can feel the difference in the fuelling and the acceleration is much more linear and much more economical above 60 than stock hope this is helpful 👍
That’s the key. Don’t ride to be there in a hurry and don’t trust any other driver. I would enter the California freeway with my 4 way flashers on. However staying off the freeway is the best idea.
Just gave it a look. Very interesting results, does look like it'll improve on the subjects i talked about. Though i think he's going based off his speedo and not any sort of GPS device or a Dragy like i've used to give accurate and detailed information. Either way if he's gaining what he shows then i'll see big results as well.
I've seen a vid with before and after cam times to 60. Think it was the guy in Norway? Did make quite a difference. Add the Hunter throttle body which contains an unrestricted ECU and you're done!
I'll more than likely revisit this when i have the Cam installed. Interested in the whole throttle body thing. I'll get with my guy and see what they can do
That's really difficult for me to say. Honestly. I think that I would like the halcyon 450 more if I needed to go on roads that were say 80 mph. But for roads that are more geared towards countryside City. Basically anything under 70 mph. I would pick the classic all day long. I just love the bikes so much.
Hello from Europe here, where we acctualy drive fast on our highways. So, is it American Highway capable? From what I know, the maximum speed limit on rural interstate highways is 70mph, with a 45mph minimum. On four-lane divided highways, the limit is 65mph, and on all other highways it's 55mph. Here in Europe, where I live, highway speed limit is 80 mph, and police tolerate 90 mph and slightly above that, especially in tourist season when we get people from all the Europe, especially coming from the German autobahn where they don't have so much limit. Buses and trucks can drive 50 - 60 mph, and I can easily drive safely on the right side of road on my Classic 350 on constant cruising speed of 55 mph. But yeah, Classic 350 is for back roads, for those nice roads where speed limit is lower, around 50 mph, and it has enough "juice" to tackle any problem. But I mean, come on, American Higways? Sorry mate, but you are slow as hell. :) My usual highway speed in my BMW Z4 is around 100 mph.
That's why i say it comes down to the highways you take. I can get around just fine by me but i know the roads extremely well. Taking this bike on highways in Chicago, Vegas, or California is a suicide mission. Most of my realistic travel doesn't exceed 80mph tops. Does it mean i stick to that on my much faster bikes... Hell no lol 😂
Run a switch from the fuse box to the handle bar and splice it into the wire under the fuse for the ABS and switch off for highway riding most of us learned to ride without ABS and the likely hood of it being of any real use at speed is slim and the safety factor of not having the rough running and clean running up to 85 mph is a no brainer for me
I actually have a Meteor so it isn’t identical to be fair but same motor I don’t have a DNA but do have an x light and still a standard exhaust and is nudging 90 mph
@@FoxParasyte easy way to find out i imagine would be to pull the fuse i suppose n try it , it can’t do any harm or it would be pointless put it the fuse in the system so worth a bash
I've been wishy washy about the subject for a long time. Still am to this day. Don't have plans for it as of yet and don't know if the cost is worth it since it'll be near 700 bucks to have shipped to me. Not counting cost of install (I'm not doing it) and my skeptical nature of the product in general. It's kinda a huge turn off. If Hitchcock were to develop one, i'd be about it all day long.
@@FoxParasyte Hi. Thanks for reply. Yes I agree with you. But for someone that didn't spend a cent yet in any performance update, I think to myself if it wouldn't be worth thinking. Give a look at this google search: "FULL KIT: 500cc Big Bore for HUNTER, METEOR, NEW CLASSIC BULLET" It's making my inner child dreaming in the case of it's proven reliability. Cheers and safe ride.
Yeah i've seen the kit. the 500cc would be a bad idea in America because 100 Ron fuel hasn't been a thing since 2014 (if i'm correct). I'd be interested in the 411 kit but even then something about it really worries the hell out of me.
i put a DNA air filter , stage two cam from Hitchcock motocycles , got rid of the cat. converter and put the new open flow muffler for the hunter from hitchcock on the result is very good , i can almost keep up with my mate's KLR 650 from zero to 100km per hour (60/65 miles per hour ) over that speed the KLR is faster (it would not be good if it was not , right ?) oh yeah the KLR does zero to 100km in about 6 seconds and my hunter is not far off that .... i hope this helps .
That's weird, i dont doubt you at all but i can't imagine even with the cam a 350 having any better than a 8.5 for 0-60mph. Maybe with the hunter being 30lbs lighter and having a different geometry of the other 2 bikes it affects the acceleration but still that seems wild to be that much faster.
@@FoxParasyte my other mate who is a rider also did ride my hunter when it was bone stock and than he did ride it when i did these modifications , his first words when he stopt where ( this thing does have 25 to 30 % more power now ) . so maybe try it yourself instead of imagine things . 🤔🤭
Odd to hear you refer to the 350 as "The Royal". It's always been "The Enfield" here in the UK, probably since the company made its first powered bicycle. 🙂
Your not the only one to clock me on that lol. I don't have a good reason why i call it "The Royal" it's just something that happened and stuck in my brain. I think a small part of it is when I think Enfield I think Lee-Enfield. I know that's silly of me.
Before Fuelx i would definitely say it was worse. With the fuel x it seems the same if not better than stock. I notice on highway specifically when im cruising, eco displays on my screen far more than it ever has.
Does every bike need to be a tourer? It's so weird seeing people criticise low capacity bikes for not being able to overtake trucks at 80mph uphill, something they were never intended for!
What about a front sprocket with 2 less teeth? Yeah sure you'd miss a bit of acceleration but it's a very easy and cheap mod that will do a big difference for highways
I enjoyed your video. The way to address some of your issues is definitely with the performance camshaft. I’ve done a lot with my Classic 350, most of the common modifications make minor improvements, the camshaft is definitely a very noticeable step up in performance. The low speed riding of the bike is just the same lovely bike as standard. Once the revs rise you definitely feel the cam working, where the standard bike struggles, the modified bike just keeps pulling hard. It hit the top speed with ease. You can pull onto the highway and overtake cars so much easier. Like you I just love this little bike, the camshaft just makes my smile even bigger. Check out my camshaft fitting video: th-cam.com/video/heylXlwUcjs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=m1Gec3rb_chHS8Yo
Thank you for the input. Im for sure going to revisit this once the cam is installed. A dealer I'm working with wants to work with me on the series and other bike stuff as a partnership. Theyre more than happy to do the install for me. I'm not going to pretend i can do that Cam thing myself. Would be stupid difficult for me in more ways than 3
I am not surprised no reputable company is making a part to fix the speedometer error an up the top speed a hair, as there is a bit of liability you would take on messing with ABS. But its a stupidly simple part to make so I am surprised no one has done it their self on youtube yet. Thought about getting one myself an would likely fix that but we dont have a local dealer in Chattanooga. Nearest is up in Knoxville. Probably would have bought one already if they had a local dealer.
From my understanding simply swapping the ECU/throttle body from the Hunter will eliminate the top speed limiter. I've been talking to my dealer about it and he's interested to try the swap just for kicks
@@FoxParasyte Assuming that is true, I assume thats a pricey option. $200+? Also what does that do to the speedometer error and ABS? You would be putting a ECU programmed for a front tire size of a 17 inch rim on a bike with a 19 inch rim. If my math is correct, that flips the speedometer error, which would also kill the limiter problem too. I dont think 10% would be an issue with the ABS, but... An ABS tone ring with one less hole in it though, should fix the error an give you that difference in speed for about $30 US, if someone made one. At least in the US, 70-75mph is common interstate speed. A $30 part that gets you a real 75mph is all you need. Thats about a 5% change for the ABS to deal with too, not 10%. But I may be wrong to assume the ECU even has anything to do with ABS an the Speedometer. That could be handled elsewhere with the ECU just using the down stream data. I dont have the bike to look at myself.
My dealer is a madman so who knows, he might just say F it and try it just for kicks.
I love those old small displacement CBs just wonderful bikes.
Maybe look into the interceptor or the super meteor that might be a better option
As a re hunter 350 owner I recommend a.honda. I do enjoyy hunter, but you will like a rebel 300 or 500 more. Re has rather mediocre parts support and dealer support here in the USA. If u lived in India I'd say definitely.
@@blakecrosby5123 maybe the 500 rebel but definitely not the 300. Just from personal experience
A guy i know from Austria has a 350 that goes 87mph apparently without pulling hard on rpms
The 1100 is absolutely lovely and i would love to have one to add to my collection 😂
Yeah mine is pretty quick but i enjoy cruising A roads at 60 even though there’s plenty more in it so i can’t argue with that strategy
what speed are you going to get 75mpg? ive got a vstar 250 78mpg at 55-60mph

I feel that the FuelX is the FIRST mod to do since these bikes are really lean from factory.
I would agree with that after seeing firsthand
very good video, thank you.
Biggest performance upgrade seems to be the Hitchcock hi-lift cam.
I have installed a 16 tooth drive sprocket which helps the engine to run a bit more relaxed and sit more comfortably at higher speeds. And it kinda improves the fuel economy. My next mods will be a new cam shaft and a rev counter.
I want that rev counter so bad. Last time i looked they were sold out.
@asyteCheck out Hitchcock´s dyno chart anyway and look att the rpms. That cam gives usable power where you want it.
No doubt this bike is a unique & atrack more attention than any Kawasaki or Suzuki.... & It my personal opinion that bike should be look like this.... Other than platic bundle ... Awesome video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good Video, keep up the good work and common sense commentary!
Nice bike. I have an Interceptor 650 with filter and exhaust update which makes it go so much better. Highly recommend Quad Lock over the X Grip by the way.
I don't like the quad lock forcing me to have a specific case for my phone.
Without it you more than likely will cause damage to the engine (long term)
I have zero desire to touch the sprocket size, don't see a point unless im upgrading the quality of the sprockets and chain.
As far as the CAM goes. People say that it adds 5HP but they neglect to say whether or not it is just the Cam alone or combined with other performance mods.
A dealer that i'm working on a sponsorship/partner with is more than willing to install the cam and test it out. He says a lot of that warranty stuff is "bullshit because majority of the dealers here in the US don't have a clue about these bikes"
I'm not installing the cam on my own. The dealer is going to help me and is willing to allow me to document the process for the following "PRE" episode.
Thanks for such a detailed answer! The specs on the cam look good and having a pro install it is smart. @@FoxParasyte
@FoxParasyte very informative response. Beautiful bike. I've hit like& subscribe
On my Classic 350 I've done the stage 2 intake and open baffle. Next step is the replacement cam but thats gonna wait until spring time.
That's kinda where i am.
I would HIGHLY recommend a Fuelx though. Temps were reading 400 degrees without it. With the Fuelx almost cut that by 50%.
@FoxParasyte seriously though, look up the 2024 Continental GT black/gold. Amazing!
It is beautiful holy hell. See we dont have that in the US. Closest thing is Dux Deluxe which is the white and black with a touch of gold.
Same for me. Glad you put it in a video.
Very mature comments. Nice to hear. I own a ‘22 Signal model. Subscribed 😊
Ahh man i LOVE the Signals. They are so stupid hard to get here where i live.
Hmmmmm Big bore kit? i thought they said they weren't going to do that for the 350J
Great stuff mate.
USA is way more concerned over highway perfomance than Europe.because of its huge size
I do it at 60mph inside lane usually behind trucks beyond their air wash .
At that point i'd just remove the fuse to the ABS entirely
It'll shoot away and catch those Harleys on the highway any day ;)
I should add that I love my Classic 350, it has given me plenty of joy and fun days for about two years, BUT, both I and my spouse are kind of 'heavy people' so the Shotgun is really what I've been waiting for.
Such a beautiful bike
Certainly is, thank you 😁
It is restricted via the fuel injection module. Someone has replace their module with one from the hunter and the restriction is gone. You can find the video on here somewhere.
that module that i think you're referring to doesn't fit on the classic 350 for whatever reason.
Nice reasoned review. I believe the Hunter will go a little quicker. If it could hold 70moh up hill into wind it woukd be okay on 🇬🇧 motorways
MoTo morten does do a 0 to 100 km aka 0 to 60 mph after cam install if you wanna check it out
Just gave it a look. Very interesting results, does look like it'll improve on the subjects i talked about. Though i think he's going based off his speedo and not any sort of GPS device or a Dragy like i've used to give accurate and detailed information. Either way if he's gaining what he shows then i'll see big results as well.
My setup exactly Same as yours, except I have the CAM. GET the CAM.
Oh its coming...... In spring.
2 feet of snow outside in -10 weather. Ill have to pass until then lol
I'll get with my guy and see what they can do
I know you’ve ridden both, price aside would you prefer a Janus Halcyon 450 or the RE Classic 350?
Bug off
Run a switch from the fuse box to the handle bar and splice it into the wire under the fuse for the ABS and switch off for highway riding most of us learned to ride without ABS and the likely hood of it being of any real use at speed is slim and the safety factor of not having the rough running and clean running up to 85 mph is a no brainer for me
I actually have a Meteor so it isn’t identical to be fair but same motor I don’t have a DNA but do have an x light and still a standard exhaust and is nudging 90 mph
Someone told me that disabling that fuze also for whatever reason disables the entire speedometer. Any truth to that?
@@FoxParasyte im not sure of that on the classic to be honest but it doesn’t on the Meteor
@@FoxParasyte easy way to find out i imagine would be to pull the fuse i suppose n try it , it can’t do any harm or it would be pointless put it the fuse in the system so worth a bash

Is that a stock rearview mirror? Do you know if that is available in USA? Thanks.
It's stock on the classic but im now using the bar end mirrors. The stock ones should just be available at any RE dealer
I have same bike, same colour as its my favourite colour. Love it
It's honestly one of the prettiest color options. That and that almost powder blue classic. They're both beautiful
Hi. What about the great option of all? Big bore kit? :D
Give a look at this google search: "FULL KIT: 500cc Big Bore for HUNTER, METEOR, NEW CLASSIC BULLET"
It's making my inner child dreaming in the case of it's proven reliability. Cheers and safe ride.
Yeah i've seen the kit. the 500cc would be a bad idea in America because 100 Ron fuel hasn't been a thing since 2014 (if i'm correct). I'd be interested in the 411 kit but even then something about it really worries the hell out of me.
My speedometer broke and goes to 100mph and my bike runs the same I hope that limiter doesn’t kick in
It’s a nice bike the 350 I recon if they put a 450 in that bike it would be perfect May be RE will do that ,jimmy Aust
There's a 650 classic coming out
i put a DNA air filter , stage two cam from Hitchcock motocycles , got rid of the cat. converter and put the new open flow muffler for the hunter from hitchcock on the result is very good , i can almost keep up with my mate's KLR 650 from zero to 100km per hour (60/65 miles per hour ) over that speed the KLR is faster (it would not be good if it was not , right ?) oh yeah the KLR does zero to 100km in about 6 seconds and my hunter is not far off that .... i hope this helps .
Considering the guy i'm working with wants to put that camshaft on as soon as he can... we might just see what it does on a classic lol.
Does the fuel consumption drastically change with your mods ?
Before Fuelx i would definitely say it was worse. With the fuel x it seems the same if not better than stock.
I notice on highway specifically when im cruising, eco displays on my screen far more than it ever has.
I'm curious if anyone has found out how to disable the damn Speed limiter😅😂
Does every bike need to be a tourer? It's so weird seeing people criticise low capacity bikes for not being able to overtake trucks at 80mph uphill, something they were never intended for!
I'm not criticizing the bike for that at all. I've never needed to overtake on the highway for this bike.
Now you just need a big bore kit.

Why arw the roads in US look like they are from india ???
Welcome to the Midwest.
Specifically in the dead middle of the salt belt.
may be roads in north of Hindiya.. in south India we have far better roads ;)
Add turbo
I disagree with you, I didn't have any problems riding on our motorways in the UK
Our experiences are going to be different depending on our situations. Nothing wrong with disagreeing at all
