  • My Royal Enfield Classic 350 Reborn has 15,00 miles on it and has all the available bolt on goodies supposed to improve the bike.....
Friend Bob has same bike with 3000 miles and is totally stock. So what is REALLY the difference?
You may be a bit disappointed at the results which cannot be hidden on camera if you spent approx £800 on the extras...

I guess that RE have perfected the Classic 350 as standard, all I have changed are things like touring seats, bar end mirrors and heated grips. After over 2 years this is still the best bike I have owned in 54 years, relaxing and just great fun to ride, every journey a pleasure. 😊

Non engine extras are prob all needed to improve the bike in a few areas and it is indeed stick or modified a fantastic bike! 😁👍👍

Solo seat and bar ends is all I've done.
Tried the airfilter, didn't impress, and was too noisy .
Love as is after two years.

    Great vid thanks Bruce.
My 350 is stock and my pal’s has DNA filter and cam. Bikes have v similar mileage and we’re roughly same weight.
We’ve tested the bikes performance numerous times and can confirm that at lower revs there’s no discernible difference in performance.
But at higher revs he simply pulls away from me every single time. Especially up hills or into a headwind.
We both have and ride other bigger bikes, but we absolutely love the relaxed riding experience that the 350 Classics bring.
RE 350’s are an absolute hoot to ride with or without mods. The additional few horses that the filter and cam gives is in my view worthwhile. But we’re all different. Thankfully.

Hi Bruce. That's the best way of showing the improvements (or lack thereof) from tuning parts. I'm leaving mine bog standard as a lot of folk are saying that the cam only produces power at the top end but is cursed with less torque low down. Volcanic Brown bought back one of his 350s that had been tricked out and came to the same conclusion and appears to be in the process of switching it back to OEM parts. I've never fitted a performance cam to any bike that improves everything and performance air filters can only improve air flow when balanced with the correct exhaust or if the OEM filter is too small for the engine.

You’d need a big bore/higher compression piston to really benefit from the performance cam. Maybe needing to change fuel grade in the process too.

Coincidentally I talked about the same thing in my video I uploaded today. I did the decat pipe and DNA air filter and I'm very happy with the changes they make to the bike. I don't think that I'll bother with the cam as, like you say, it's not really that kind of bike is it?
I think that perhaps some people have too high an expectation with these mods and they may be trying to turn their Classic 350 into something that it's not designed to be.

Old biker and mechanic here. I believe in the old adage; 'if you want a powerful bike; buy a powerful bike' and that is certainly not what the beautiful little 350 is about. Having said that; I would do the mods to help the poor thing breathe more easily, but the air filter and the decat exhaust would probably be as far as I would go. Those mods would not necessarily be aimed at upping performance, but at engine longevity and well being as the long term ramifications of being so restricted on intake and exhaust cannot be good.

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Love the video's. You could cheat and never ride with a standard classic again - then all the mods will be amazing 😂
But seriously - one of the best ownership experiences of this wee bike is that you WANT to fiddle and change it. I love that you can change the cam shaft - why not! The more we fiddle, the more the deep bond forms. So yes - a modern (classic) bike from a top form marque (RE are on a fantastic roll) is going to have billions of hours of calibration to make it superb . But all the changes make it your bike - deep, deep down. And that's worth every penny you've spent. Even if standard is best - if I had one - I would also be tinkering all the bloomin time, because it just encourages it.
Smashing vids - love the bike, and roads.

Bruce, haven’t messaged for a while, as I’ve been away, hope you are well. I really loved my classic, I did the DNA mod, de cat pipe panniers, engine bars etc and other cosmetics and Hitchcock rev counter. It went really well with decat and easily indicated 73+. Although, I did feel like I was wringing its neck on dual carriageways, they are great back road bikes for sure. So now my confession, I sold mine, reluctantly. The main reason was at 6’2 and 34” inseam I always felt like I was sitting on top of the bike and never felt completely comfortable. So alas I am no longer an RE owner but I still am very fond of the bikes, the brand, build quality and exceptional value for money, ride safe mate.

You don't seem to even get it up to 70! I wonder if there is any difference getting to and passing 70mph.

The bike pulls a lot better since this as went back to stock gearing 😁👍

I sold my 350classic. Prefer my 500. Much better torque. Nothing wrong with the 350 though. But 500 feels strong and has the 'character ' 😂
