  • Hello, in this video I show you the best solution I found that worked for me for a common issue on 14-16 toyota corrolas, the speaker wires get damaged by rain/snow water and go bad.
I hope this video was helpful.

My speaker on my 2012 corolla just went out this week. Its the exact same one and I do get alot of water around this area, Its my daily it goes through alot generally. I will be trying this liquid tape stuff, Looks like a permanent fix and I definitely dont want my new aftermarket speaker damaged.

Yep, make sure to coat it well, it’s freezing cold now and it still works, just sometimes there is a slight static noise but it goes away when the cabin warms up, wish you a successful fix man ;)

How is this holding up after 11 months? I've been battling with this issue for years, but haven't tried liquid tape. Most of my fixes only last 6 months or so.

Hello, thanks for your comment, it’s still holding up until this day, liquid tape is a great insulator when applied properly, it protects from water damage and moisture.

I just had the fix and new speakers done today, sound great, there is a lifetime warranty on the install. The boys at visions electronics in canada know there stuff . They are aware of the toyota speaker wire issue.

Same issue with 2015 corolla. best fix is take the car into an electronics shop and upgrade the speakers and pay the install. Toyota uses aluminum wires that starts to disintegrate where the wire connector plugs into the speaker. the speakers are also paper and not good with moisture. Forget the fix, upgrade your speakers and the fix at the same time.

A speaker upgrade won’t fix it unless the installer will insulate the wires correctly.

I am hoping they did the job properly, but if it fails again there is a lifetime guarantee on the install.

I thought the stock wire was aluminum and not able to solder

It is a bit difficult to solder but it’s doable.

Check the sound balance in the settings, maybe it’s not centered.

Both front speakers don’t work dealer said Toyota know about the problem and need new vapour barrier and door wiring harness.

Oof, sorry to hear, I would inspect the wires and see if they can be saved, they should’ve made a RSU or recall for this 😑

@@randomfixesyeah It’s going to cost me 1410.49 Canadian to get fixed . That was the service manager that said it was a problem that Toyota knows about. I don’t have the tools to do it myself.

@@tylerhorton8537 wow, it’s that expensive! 😧 get an estimate from independent shops, I don’t really trust them but it’ll cost less for sure.
