My favorite thing about Carla is her asking Eren and Mikasa and Hannes to come back for her. She's willing to die for her kids but she's still so terrified of it. It makes her feel so human. I think it's better than characters who are willing to sacrifice themselves without any fear. Those characters don't tend to feel as flawed and human.
Hell yeah this is a great point. These three characters really do offer some amazing contrasts throughout the story. Mr. Braus specifically gets me every single time he is on screen
Shadis is low key like Snape from Harry Potter. He loved a woman who feel for someone else and now he is looking out for his would be wife's son after she passes away. Especially when he initially tried to sabotage during scot training.
Yeah, Carla was overall pretty good. I understand what Dina went through and the situation she was in, so while she wasn't the best mother, her and Grisha were young and definitely didn't grow in any sort of, well, "stable environment" like Carla was. So Grisha got to make up his old mistakes, Dina tragically never got the chance, and Carla was, well, overall pretty solid.
If we try to think about it, eren and every other kid in paradis is quite privileged compared to the kids back in Liberio and other internment camps outside Marley where even kids could be turned ito titans. I mean there are limits within the walls, but at least they are not treated as "disposable".
@@thebookreader287 True, and that situation alone allows for a healthier environment, and Carla likely had loving parents, or at least ones that didn't neglect her the way that Zeke was, and her upbringing in that sense would help the situation in terms of her own parenting.
Carla was one the most unique character in Aot. Most of the characters are drunk on something as kenny said. Some wants to get out of the walls to explore, some wants freedom, some wants truth, some wants knowledge about their world. But carla was not really drunk on something. Season 3 episode 11 Carla's words to keith. who said Eren needs to be special. He doesn't need to do anything or achieve anything to become special after all he is already special, because he was born into this world and look at him just how cute he is. These words tells a lot about her. She didn't want anything from eren or the world. Truth, freedom, knowledge, adventure. she didn't want any of that because the one thing she loved the most( Eren) She already had him and that is how motherly she is. She just loves to have him in her and that unconditional love for eren made her see the beauty in their world. Where other charaters were always unsatisfied because of how the world treats them and how they never get what they want. But carla never cared that her whole life was inside the walls, she never really wanted to know the truth about the world. Maybe she was drunk, On her love for eren. But she never had a thought of hatred and dissatisfaction. She just wanted Eren to live his life and that is rare in aot. Onoy other characters i can think about like her are.. Sasha and marcel. Sasha is pure feminine Energy. She's the best girl and then Marcel, He was drunk on his love for his brother. we didn't really saw too much of marcel but whatever we saw. we can understand that he knew what they were doing was not the right thing to do. He knew they will die in 13 years and he didn't want that for his brother. But that is the thing these were also the reason of their deaths in aot. They were too pure for the world of aot, They weren't made for that kind of world. Edit - Yes there are more characters like Armin, falco, Mr. Braus, etc etc who are like carla in a way.
To make it even sadder, Carla's legs weren't crushed, because u can see her moving them normally when Dina picked her up. She just said that to convince Eren that there is no point in helping her and he should try to save himself. A true mother ❤️
@@ookami5329 Key word here is "normally" If that coward hadn't chickened out, she would have lived without significant injuries other than the Psychological trauma. He failed her.
@@friendlyanomaly6109 With the amount of debris on top of her legs, I'd be incredibly surprised if they weren't broken. If you replay the clip of her being grabbed by the titan, you can see that she barely moves her legs (not nearly enough to rule out broken bones.) One of the things I love about Attack on Titan is the nuance, and this scene is a good example of it. Hannes didn't fight the titan because he didn't have the courage to, he says so himself. But if he were to fight the titan, would he be able to beat it? He was likely still intoxicated, so he might've ended up getting eaten himself. If he succeeded, then he'd save Carla. I personally think what he did ended up being the correct choice, even if it was out of cowardice.
I've wondered if the plague was really that serious considering how primitive paradis was compared to the rest of the world. To Grisha it might have been as simple as curing the common cold
Carla is a great mom. She doesn't expect her son to be perfect or even great. If he grows up to be a good person and lives a happy, humble life, that's enough for her. Fate, of course, intervenes. Still, she adopts Mikasa as part of their family wholeheartedly and wants her children safe and happy. Yes, she tries to dissuade Eren from indulging too much in his curiosity but what good parent doesn't worry about their child being in danger? Had she had more time to live, her stance may change on the matter of the walls and the Titans but she was never given the chance.
The other choice was more like an extinction plan, you are not killing anyone instantly but planning the extinction of a civilization in an unviolent manner. This plan still stands cruel to the people inside the wall but you have to choose the lesser evil right. Either this or kill everyone else in the planet. Eren is being selfish, he loves his friends so much that he is ready to kill everyone else in the world to keep them safe. Basically both options are evil but you have to choose the lesser evil.
I remember back then, when I watched the 1st episode of AOT and Carla being eaten ...and I hadn't watched another episode of the series for 6 months. Technically, she's not important at all lmao. Eren killed her
You're way off bro I must say you have a pretty distorted way to view the show. Most the time when I watch your clips I'm like "tf this guy talking about..."
Dude is 100% spot on what have you been watching lol
👎 anyone can be an “important character”... even “Keith” a spectator who found Greshia who could of been an ass to the attack titan.
