I have no clue why people need to be so rude. To 90% of people it's obvious from the first few seconds it's not essential oil but it is a great video on infused oils for adding to everything from soaps to balms!!
People are so critical, often without any polite, beneficial advice in exchange for their criticism. an essential oil is defined as:a natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source from which it is extracted. before there were advanced machines to pull every single drop of potent oil from plants, this method is how it was done. so, this is an essential oil as she is extracting oils from the plant. we as consumers are just spoiled by the intense concentration of the machine, etc extraction so sometimes it's difficult to appreciate a simplified extraction. thanks for the ❤video!
even with modern technology, no machines is require in entire process. It's simply chemistry invented in 1st century B.C. Like wearing shoes, It's just hard for stupid people. By stupid people I didn't mean to imply anyone in particular, especially you.
There are also cold pressed " Essential oils". These do not use a steam distillation process and they do not use any heat. She said in the video that she is making an infused oil. Herbal Infused oils are amazing and can be used when making herbal salves, herbal balms, and ointments. They can be used to create wonderful Body butter creams, face creams, handmade soap and more. Essential Oils are not supposed to be used as is straight out of the bottle on your skin although I know currently there are many who do this because they do not know it is supposed to be cut. You are supposed to dilute them with a carrier oil - the amount varies based on the plant matter being used. Herbal Infused Oils when complete already have that extra carrier oil (Ex: her Grapeseed oil or Jojoba oil) and can be used as an Herbal Oil right onto the skin. Anywa... Herbal Infused Oils are just as Amazing :)
Wonderful tutorial, just thought you should know however that the reason those store bought oils cost so much is because they are super concentrated and are the extracted (essential) oils from the plants where what you’re making is known as an infused oil (which for those who don’t know is also effective and has many of the same benefits just not as strong as the essential oils alone) a good way to illustrate this is take a couple pieces of styrofoam and drip some pure essential oils on one and the infused oil on the other and you’ll see the difference in strength as the pure essential oil will dissolve the foam. God bless.
@@xavierrose8208 so I'm a herbalist and a Norse pagan... Extracted essential oils are not synthetic, they are actually naturally occurring oils within the plant itself extracted from the plant through distillation, essential oil and infusion oils are not the same thing and a herbalist would know this
Thank you! I've used this for my orange oil in soaps and I'm using it in lavender soaps as well. For those complaining she clearly states in her video that this is an infusion and not for medicinal purposes. So what if the title is different?! This is an excellent resource for those of us who've had it with paying so much for the oils. We're after the scent and not the medicinal properties, this is a much better alternative than chemically processed goods in the stores.
@@laurabrown5953 I'd assume so. It worked fine for me some 8 years ago. Just as long as you use a good unscented carrier oil it'll do just fine. I think I popped mine into a Crock-Pot
To clarify, she is not making essential oil. She is making an oil infusion. Completely different. And while grape seed has a light smell it also has a very short shelf life and heating it up shortens it even further. True essential oil, never goes bad (with the exception of citrus oils). This infusion will go rancid and in three months or less. I find this video extremely misinforming. As retailer who sells EO's I also find it frustrating to have to constantly re-educated people because of this kind of misinformation.
I enjoyed your video...I have started making my own oil infusions and extracts myself. I am so sorry to see all the negativity on your post. You have a fabulous garden too by the way.
Simple Soaparie It's not negativity to tell the truth. If you want an oil infusion this is one way to make it, but if you want an essential oil this isn't the way to do it. It's that simple.
Sorry, it isn’t negativity. She is lovely but it isn’t essential oil, it is an infusion. There is a huge difference between them. You have hydrosol, tincture, tea (which is an infusion in water), infusion in oil, essential oils. All she needs to do is change the title of her video to “Infusion”, then it would all be good. I think perhaps we were disappointed not to see the distilling process.
Russell Hill agreed on that. Misinformation is dangerous for those who doesn’t know and who is actually trying to source information. Her video is understood for those who have a bit of knowledge on the topic but if they don’t it can mislead them towards something that can actually harm them.
Simple Soaparie what people are saying is not negative it’s enlightening and educating. Big difference! She is not making E O she is making infusions. Nothing wrong with pointing that out and correcting it.
Hello. Verty interesting, thank you. I wanted to suggest another method of low temperature control that might help. You crush and bruise all your flowers first, then put them in a glass bottle with your grape seed oil, close the bottle top losely, then place this bottle in a deep saucepan of water on a low heat. Bring the water up to boil and then just very gently simmer for several hours. This would keep the temperature constant, below boiling 100c/212f and stop it going above what you want. I have a fantastic French oven which allows me to set the temperature anywhere from 300c down to 50c (and with the fan this is perfect for drying fruits and mushrooms etc).
This is great for the products you are making, but it is NOT an essential oil, it is infused oil! When you use alcohol, it is a tincture. There is a reason you pay so much money for 1oz of essential oil it is because it requires so much plant material to make a small amount by a distilling process and it is extremely concentrated unlike the infused oil you made.
Juan, the term "essential oil" comes from the time of the alchemists. During one of their many experiments, they discovered a fluid that did not mix with water. They thought they had discovered the "quintessential", or fifth element, after earth, water, wind and fire. It has nothing to do with being essential for the plant or for humans. Furthermore, watuwaitn4 is spot on with his comment on this not being an essential oil. Her products might be very good products for different uses, but it is NOT an essential oil. It will have totally different properties, so please do not compare essential oils to her extracts.
I love your accent 🧡 Also I think if you dry your flowers in your oven before you do this infused process you will speed up the cooking process, as well as lowering the chances of water being in the oil which could potentially cause mold.
Thank you for this beautiful video. I am a big fan of infused oil. I just discovered your vlog, will check out others. Just wanted to clarify to your viewers incase anyone thinks infused oil is same as essential oils of plants that we usually buy would like advise the following: The essential oils that you buy tend to be expensive because they are the essence of a plant, basically the extract from inside the plant that is extracted usually via steam distillation or solvent extraction or Carbon dioxide extraction. They are not the same as infused oil ( which is shown in this video but infused oil also has tremendous benefits & although not exactly same as Essential oils which we tend to buy, infused oils can be made at home as per this excellent video and will have many of the benefits as shop bought essential oils but not all the benefits of essential oils. Essential oils are highly concentrated extract of a plant s Essence where as infused oil is like making tea except you use oil instead of water to infuse so many of the goodness from the plant or flower will infuse into the oil.
There's nothing dangerous about a lilac infused oil used for scenting lotions, soaps, and household cleaners, as she stated very clearly in the video as her intention. She does misunderstand the difference between an essential oil and an infused oil, but for her purposes, either will work. It would be great if she corrected her mistake, but it is an honest one. All of these angry people are doing more harm, in my opinion, in the manner of their correction than any harm she has done by misunderstanding the nature of what she's making -- or more precisely, the nature of what she had been purchasing. (She seems to understand that she's making an infused oil, but she just seems to be a bit mixed up in believing that an essential oil is the same thing.) And for the record, infused oils do contain essential oils, as long as they are kept covered during the infusion process. Otherwise, the essential oils, which are volatile, will evaporate. So a properly infused oil will have the same benefits, along with some others besides, of a true essential oil that is diluted in a carrier oil -- because that is basically what it is, except that other oil-soluble constituents of the herb besides only essential oils will also be extracted into the carrier. So, if anything, what she is making can in many applications be the better choice.
Yes the nice thing about an infused essential oil is there is no need to mix it with a carrier oil...the essential oils in the plant become bonded with the grapeseed oil and the end result is similar to an essential oil mixed with a carrier.
Your video is great....thank you.....i am going to use your method make fragrances....for gifts from my garden....essentials....do not smell the same anyway.....i prefer to use this.....haters are gonna hate....as they say....
th-cam.com/video/XteSApGK7n4/w-d-xo.html Subscribe my channel freinds for information c these video for ur hair treatment hair growth n all... Use it once home made better than any brand of oil
Clarifying a mistake made is 1 thing but yall are actually embarrassing with your rude comments. I would like to Thank this lady for her time and effort. I rarely watch one video to gather information. Thanks again hun for the time and effort you put into this video, it's very informative and helpful to understanding this process. Thank you also to the ones that clarified the difference between infused and essential oils. Something I was not aware for. Get happy folks and just do you ! 😁
This is an herbal infusion, not an essential oil. An essential oil would be extracted by distilling or pressing and would only include oil from the herb (lilac in this case) not grape seed oil. Infusions can be used to make products where a carrier oil is required such as a soap or a lotion. Thanks for help on infusions though. You saved me time since I was only cooking for about 3 hours and letting them sit for a month.
Thank you for breaking down how to infuse oils, you are very pleasant and you have a beautiful garden. I have just started growing my own fruits, vegetables and herbs this year organically and I'm loving it. I have subscribed to your channel and can't wait for more videos. Have a blessed day!
Nice video. I just wanted to tell you that what you made is macerated oil instead of essential oil. To make essential oils you need to use a method of distillation and you actually get the oil of the plant. I would recommend you use dried plant instead of fresh as fresh flowers still contain water which will make your product likely to go rancid. Best way is to actually doing it over a few weeks and changing your plant material every week or so. Cheers!
I had lilac bushes when I was growing up and they are so beautiful and smell amazing. You are so lucky to have them in your yard and enjoy them every spring. That in itself is wonderful.
I heard that the ceramic bowl of a crock pot [slow cooker] is better/healthier than this metal pot. You can moderate the temperature very nicely to 200 degrees too in a slow cooker. Then there 's the safety aspect of oil and a stove. Grapeseed oil is lovely and light and I wonder about adding other healthy additives.
Lovely video. As an aromatherapist, I pray you don't mind if I tell you the difference in natural and synthetic oils. Synthetic oils have been bleached. You know they are not organic as there is no organic stamp on the bottle and te bottles are usually plastic or clear see through bottles. Organic and pure oils must be in dark glass as light destroys the odour molecules and turns the pure oil toxic. You are going to a lot of tender loving care when you infuse your oils, so it might be best to honour your loving work with organic or cold pressed oils as the oil you infuse your plants with. Sharing is caring Love Robyn xxx
Actually, I don't think she is being very clear at all. She holds up a bottle of EO stating that she is making it herself much cheaper. Hardly clear. More like confusing.
that's because after i sent her a letter the changed the video, but she is still misleading the public. She is diminishing the art of extracting an essential oil. It takes 60k rose heads to make 1 oz of Essential oil, not 2 cups of Lilac to make 16 oz of essential oil?? lol
I'm inclined to agree - I think that her heart is in the right place, and she seems like a nice lady. I don't think that she is willfully trying to be deceptive - unfortunately she refers to essential oil several times in conjunction with her preparation, and compares the price of essential oil to her oil extract, and shows a bottle of a commercial EO - so it would be confusing to a beginner... Essential oil is very different from an extraction into a vegetable oil.
She CLEARLY states in the title how to make essential oils and in the description it CLEARLY states how to make your own lilac essential oil miss missy
She CLEARLY states in the title essential oil and in the description and she says throughout the video she says making lilac essential oil NUMEROUS times. She said one time lilac infused oil so it is very misleading. So there!
I think I, like many people, actually did a search for “how to make essential oil” knowing full well that essential oil extraction requires specialized equipment, also knowing I would find instructions for home oil extraction methods like this one, which is much more accessible to the general public and will work for my intended use. I find I was right to do so. If only essential oil will work for whatever one needs to do, I imagine one will have done their homework on the subject. This works for me! Thanks
I know this is a late post but I loved your video because of your honest and easy going manner. I am starting a foot massaging business and regardless of infused or essential oils...I am going to use Infused Oil. Yes, I know about how each is extracted and I would prefer Infused, just like this video. 1. It is a simpler way of making them for what I want to do. 2. The smell and benefits are still the same. The only thing that is different is that one is more concentrated and I don't want alcohol in my oils. I don't want to make a carrier based oil either. I also don't want to gather tons of it to make one bottle. Aside from that, Keila is such a great person. I love her enthusiasm and video's. I have Scribed Keila. Keep up the awesome videos! ♥
Your garden is lovely! I will try your technique with my gardenias, as my daughter is interested in trying soap making. I think it will be more special using our own flowers from our garden. Thank you for your tutorial. We use grapeseed oil all the time for cooking, so we should have everything we need!
Beautiful! BTW Grape Seed Oil is high in Vitamin E, has a high burn point (meaning it will not smoke at high temperatures), and is great for massage (low odor).
Grapeseed oil is great because you can heat it up without ruining the nutrients in the oil. It also has high amounts of Omega 6 & antioxidants That oil is especially great if you want to fry something because of its high smoke point, unlike olive oil which burns easier Thanks for the video :)
I appreciate your video and am considering making my own EOs as well. I do wish to say though: you mentioned that you started making your own EOs because you got tired of paying $10/bottle. First of all, the brand now that you’re using, they’re a typical conventional drug store brand. I’ve looked into them, their labels aren’t very trustworthy. Also, even just 1/2 oz of pure, organic, therapeutic grade essential oil takes a minimum of 10 hours to distill. I agree that store-bought essential oils are highly-priced, but that’s also coming strictly from a consumer/customer perspective. We feel that way because we don’t see the time, effort, energy or money that’s spent on producing high-quality oils. I felt the same way as you before I started making my own colloidal silver. Once I started making my own colloidal silver and selling it, I started relating to and understanding sale prices better. And I’ve also been tempted to raise my own product prices to make my own effort time and energy worthwhile, which is something I never thought I’d do. Anyway, good video overall, I just wanted to add that.
Genecy Salas This is NOT essential oil, so don't think you can use it the same! If you truly want to make your own essential oils, search "steam distillation" to learn how to get REAL eos ...
This lady is wonderful. She is very easy to listen to, easy to understand and very resourceful. Why do people want everyone to be perfect and exact in what they do? This lady is sharing her resourceful ideas and will save you money. I was taught that only GOD can judge....AMEN.....
thank you so much! ignore these blokes with comments about this not being essential oil. they have NO idea where their oils come from or HOW they are made I am sure. they are buying online from non regulated sources so whatever. Keep posting new stuff. Love you!
I really enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing it! I do it similar too, it don't matter to me if it's an essential or non essential oil or whatever... I go for the scent myself! it's the scent were after... hahaha ...not only that but its cheaper and smells the same so i see it as a win! Good Job!!! :)
This is not an esencial oil, thus is an oleat - you put to infuse a plant into a oil base at Bain Marie not directly on stove for not cook just infused. Essentials oil are the small amount resulted from distillation the little oil at the base of a hydrolat after distillation. From a 1kg of flowers maybe you'll get 50ml essential oil and 200 ml hydrolat. That's is expensive and worth it! 💕🌱👍
I don't get why people keep calling it "essential oil". Essential oil is the product of distillation (and you need A LOT of herbs), infused oil is this one and tinctures are extracts using alcohol (you can use other things in place of alcohol, but I can't remember now). Then there are tisanes (herbs infused in water). No intention to be rude, but this is misinformation.
Thank you so much for sharing your D.I.Y. essential oils video. I found it informative and easy to understand. I'd love to make my own soap, candles, home fragrance sprays (like Febreeze) and beauty products. This is the first video I've watched. 🙌🏽 Nameste🙏🏼✊🏽🫶🏽 Ember
I'm subscribing cause I love that you speak slow and you repeat things, also, I have watched two of your vids now I loved them, thank you for taking the time to save our money.
it's not an essential oil, it's an infused oil. the reason why the "one unce little bottle" is so expensive is because it takes a myriad of lavender to make oil. the plant itself is pressed till every drop comes out. it's 100% lavender, just like the grapeseed oil you bought is 100% grapeseed. you get what you pay for. it's like comparing a tiny bottle of thick dishsoap to a huge bottle of watery dishsoap. the tiny bottle is more expensive because it's 100% pure, the bigger bottle is less expensive because it's 70% water and not soap. big doesn't always mean more.
Dont listen to those uncultured close-minded people who cannot express their argument in a proper way. You have done an outstanding work there, your intention to acknowledge people is truly lovely! I support you from the deepest of my heart.
I don't care if it is infused or essential all I want to say is I'm so impressed with this knowledge and would like to know if I can still use it with my face
Good tutorial on how to make infused oil (different from essential oil). Keep in mind this works better with some plants than it does for others--plants whose desired chemicals are hydrophilic (I believe ginger, lemons, cilantro, etc. are some examples) will not dissolve well in a cooking oil, which is hydrophobic. An alcohol extract may be a better call for said molecules
The only reason she entitled it an essential oil it's because indeed it is an oil with the essence of the herb that has been used. Although there are many ways to do an essential oil and this is an infused essential oil of lilac and there is nothing wrong with that! Thank you for the informations on how to make an infused essential oil mam, Good job! 🙏
I just watched this today. I have lavender in my garden but not in flower, so I cooked the leaves in a slow cooker with grapeseed oil for 7 hours. OMG the smell is through my house and is so divine. It doesn't smell like lavender though. This is the first post that says to cook fresh. Everywhere else it says to dry. I prefer instance gratification, so I hope this works. I will try it in my soaps. I think I would have to use the lot as I dont think this can be stored as the leaves have moisture would could make it go rancid
PwnageDev : Could you please explain in more detail ( what type of alcohol, what flowers work best, how hot to heat up the oil etc.) the alcohol extraction method you mention in your reply - thanks
PwnageDev But even boiling off the alcohol you will still have sugars left behind from the vodka. Which would not be actual essential oils. I've been a brewer for quite awhile, I know the chemistry behind brewing liquor and beer. Boiling any alcohol will actually infuse some sugar into the oils. Sugar is VERY hard to completely boil off. Only actual way to create real essential oils is distilling. No sugar and grain added like there is in alcohol.
You're absolutely right in that she said it wasn't an essential oil... but the title of the video is "How to make Essential Oils" We all understand what she meant... but the title is a little misleading.
For the record to all those commenting on how important this dang title is to you when you could seriously keep on scrolling or just thank her for taking her precious time to show you how to do this.. SHE DOES STATE in the BEGINNING in her kitchen that these ARE INDEED INFUSED so get over your high and mighty selves and leave this woman alone and if you don't like her video by all means GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and better yet.. take a good look in the mirror at your own imperfections and judge yourselves accordingly and I believe then you will have no time to do anything else in this life. Thank You for the video Keila... I for one sure enjoyed it.
You can crank up the heat more in order to break open the cells of the plant. On an industrial scale essential oils are cooked in a pressure cooker where the temperature is very high.
THANK YOU FOR TEACHING THIS METHOD TO ME...you have saved me sooo much money and now I am able to make use of my wonderful smelling flowers in my garden. I just subscribed+look forward to learning more from you..I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
This is a nice video for infused oil, but infused oil and essential oil are two very different things. Infused oil may suite the purposes you are using them for, as you stated in you video, however you cannot compare the price of essential oil bought in store to your infused oil. Essential oils are more potent then infused oils are, and it is made through a completely different process. The process would involve Distilling the herb or flower you're using, it would be placed in with water, and as the water evaporates the oils from the plant are carried up through the vapour and are separated in the system. The reason you get such a small amount of ESSENTIAL oil at the store for the price it is at is because the plant materials you just used would only yield a tiny amount of essential oil, 100% concentrated. Some essential oils are cheaper than others because they dilute the oil with another to make more quantity, and market it as 100% natural essential oil, to make it sound pure, its not a 100%, for example, lilac, but the lilac used will be 100% pure. I hope this helps you understand the difference between essential oils and infused oils, as well as why the price varies by so much. The video essential oils home made - steam distillation can show the process used for essential oils. In the mean time you might consider re titling your video to say infused oil not essential.
It was eight years before and you commented 4 years later. Now its 4 years later ... Wtf we don't know whether she or you even watching this.... but you insisted to change her title and I insisted you to stop being like this...lol
For those purists posting negative comments, this is NOT essential oil, but her procedure yielded *way more* of a _very similar_ product for considerably less money, compared to buying the 1-oz bottle. For most uses (cosmetic products, air fresheners), this is a very good option. Like.
Such a nice way to present and so very educative. Very helpful video as essential oils cost too much plus you have a beautiful voice and style. Keep it up and nice work, lady. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for this video tutorial. Very useful information, I guess this instructional video could apply for lots of different flowers and essential oils. I am thinking of lavender, lemon, sage, rosemary. Plenty of essential oils that can be made.
Thank you for your video, Keila. Please ignore the rude, overly educated people (or people who THINK they are educated) who seem to only be able to find happiness in trying to make others feel inferior. I completely understand the points you were making in your video. At no time did you claim to be an expert, and at no time did you say that you used your oils to make products to sell or give away to the public under the pretenses that you were selling them genuine essential oils. Everything you said you used your oils for are used for your PERSONAL use, and you are absolutely not misleading anybody. Did any of you arrogant asses ever stop to think that maybe the reason for this particular video was for the benefit of people who cannot afford to buy true essential oils or a steam distiller to make true essential oils? Maybe, just maybe, the purpose of this video was to provide a good alternative for those of us who cannot afford to purchase a distiller. That is exactly what I got out of the video, and I will definitely give this method a try until I can afford to purchase a distiller. Thanks again, Keila!
Happy Hour But it's not an essential oil, it's a oil infusion and she hasn't changed the misleading title of her video which suggests what she made was the same thing as the essential oil you buy in store. As for your comment about people being educated or being overly educated, that is uncalled for as they are correctly pointed out her mistake, which may mislead.
For Christ shake, essential oil is terminology for a specific product, not "essential" as in your daily vocabulary. Grapeseed oil isn't the most used oil for infusion simply because it's chemically unstable and have to use fresh. pple only use it as infusion base for cooking purpose as it contain omega 6. Everything abt this vid was wrong, so nothing to hate.
Wow that looks so easy!! You did a great job!! It will save me so much money doing it myself now! I alwaysvwanted too but thought I needed special tools but you just used a pan! Awesome! Thanks for showing me how to do it now! are all herbs and rose petals and vanilla all the same cooking time and temperature about? This is so exciting! Thanks, I love your garden too!
Andrea Anderson There’s many ways to do an oil infusion, Solar, Double boiler, Oven extraction or crockpot. Personally Solar is the best because you do not compromise the medicinal value of the plant material. You can use dry or fresh herbs to achieve an infusion. If using fresh, make sure the herbs have been washed several times and hung to dry for at least 2 days. You don’t want any water mixed with your oils. You will need a food grade glass jar with a lid. Fill the jar with “Organic” herbs, 3/4 full and top with a high quality carrier oil like Grapeseed, Safflower, or Olive Oil, making sure the herbs are completely covered with the oil. Close with the lid, label the Jar with kind of oil used, herbs used and the date. Place in a warm, sunny window sill and let infuse for about 6 to 8 weeks. Strain and rebottle the infused oil and make sure to label and date. Now you have an herbal infusion that can be used for many things, like soap, lotions, creams, massage etc… Making an essential oil is much more involved, complicated and an absolute art in itself. Strictly speaking, Essential oils are not really an oil, they are highly concentrated plant essences because they do “not” contain any fatty acids. There’s also different methods to extract the pure oil out of a plant, spice, seed etc. It also take a huge amount of plant material to extract a little bit of oil, but the medicinal values are exceptional and the oil will penetrate into the blood stream, unlike an infusion will not. Methods of extracting an essential oil are thru Steam Distillation, Solvent extraction, Cold Pressed and the Enfleurage process. Just as a good and quick example, it takes 6600 LBS. of rose petals to extract approximately 35 oz of essential oil. What you find on the web about extracting an essential oil, is not all true (some are). Explaining the process of this is an intense and fantastic class with a lot of information and it takes years of learning and schooling, not something that can be done in a few minutes. If you are interested in learning this art, I suggest looking into theida.com or many other reputable schools.
Michael MuhammadTech no, Michael, the instructions given in this video are not correct. Extracting any citrus oil can be done by cold press of the peel or in some cases thru stem distillation, which requires a huge amount of peels, we are talking pounds and pounds. What this lady is doing is only a an oil infusion, which you can not so with citrus, because it contains to much water. As I explained in one of my statements, it takes 6600 LBS. of rose petals to extract approximately 35 oz of essential oil. Hope this helps.
1 ounce of essential oil will always be more expensive than cooking plant materials in 16 ounces of grape seed oil, because cooking plants in oil is technically an infusion. This is comparing apples to oranges. That bit of plant/flower material you put into the pot would only yield a few drops of pure/true essential oil. For you to come up with a whole ounce of a true essential oil, you would need to steam distill a great deal of your garden resources. Then you would see why a company has to charge more than grape seed oil for a medicinal product. I hope this video hasn't turned too many people away from buying quality essential oils, under such false pretenses.
Despite the criticisms and corrections, I enjoyed your video very much, found it useful and very pleasant to watch. Thank you for taking the time to share your process! Please don't stop making videos! Blessings.
This is NOT how to make essential oils. This is a great tutorial on how to make infused oils. Change the title and it will get a thumbs up. I should have known better because lilac doesn't t even have essential oils. But I would not leave the stove on for that long. Get a crock pot.
Tank you. This so amazing as I always asked myself if essence oils could be done this way. But, I really found a vido that so simple as I imaged. There were those videos that you have to spend so much money to do it as you have to buy its. Yeah that you again!!! You made my day.
Thank you I will try this with the milkweed this spring. I’ve always wished for milkweed oil for personal scent I did not realize how easy it is to do!
A lilac working with love on a bunch of lilacs. You just brought the heavens from your garden and with patience and love extracted the elixir...... Thanks, Thanks . God will surely bless you because you are no doubt his ONLY ANGEL. love from India.
This video is not titled correctly. This is not essential oil, this is an attempt at an infused oil. And this is not the proper way to do an infusion either. Why is she sauteing her lilac?!? Horribly misleading in her choice of words and just a terrible, terrible waste of lilacs.
Heat infusing yes; "sauteing" the flowers . . . not even close . . . .are you going to all of the videos espousing that this is how they make essential oils . . . ?
This is an infused oil, not an essential oil. EOs are stronger but ought to be diluted. To infuse an oil, use very low heat to avoid destroying the oil- I use a jar in a crock pot (bain marie) at its lowest setting that is then plugged into a dimmer. Or use coconut oil or jojoba oil which are more heat resistant.
I just made some Rosemary essential oil and it is wonderful. The color is so deep green and the aroma is fantastic. No, I dont have a home distillation machine. I used her method prior to me seeing her video.
this is not essential oil. don't spread misinformation like that. this is a lavender INFUSED oil, not ESSENTIAL oil. essential oil is the pure oil of lavender, unadulterated by other oils.
+Roobz Z this thread has had a serious focus shift, from making a fragrant oil, to constantly correcting people. BTW, she is making lilac oil, not lavender. Not to be rude, but just so no one is misinformed.
great job in doing it yourself. I understand exactly your point on making your own type of oil and adding oils to use to crush out the benfits of the lilac. People sometimes get mad when you are teaching other people a more affordable way of doing it. Keep on posting. I am also a retailer of essential oils and this is another way of getting a less stronger benfit but more affordable and usable in your products. And this you can apply on your skin because it is an iffusion. While the essential oil you are going to have to dillute it anyway in your products. So either way similar effects. Good job.
Queen Yemayah Denkyembo true
small scale distilling of essential oils
Queen Yemayah Denkyembo Also definitions also change with time. SOME words do change in meaning based on context including era.
God bless.
Thank you for the info Josh!
So true
Cool, however those of us who are herbalist or Wiccan prefer infusions to synthetic oils so this is fine.
@@xavierrose8208 so I'm a herbalist and a Norse pagan... Extracted essential oils are not synthetic, they are actually naturally occurring oils within the plant itself extracted from the plant through distillation, essential oil and infusion oils are not the same thing and a herbalist would know this
Holy crap if it dissolves styrofoam I wouldn't be wanting to put it on skin then.
Can this process be used for other flowers like roses or peonys?
@@laurabrown5953 I'd assume so. It worked fine for me some 8 years ago. Just as long as you use a good unscented carrier oil it'll do just fine. I think I popped mine into a Crock-Pot
@@winstonchaychel Thanks🙂❤
To clarify, she is not making essential oil. She is making an oil infusion. Completely different. And while grape seed has a light smell it also has a very short shelf life and heating it up shortens it even further. True essential oil, never goes bad (with the exception of citrus oils). This infusion will go rancid and in three months or less. I find this video extremely misinforming. As retailer who sells EO's I also find it frustrating to have to constantly re-educated people because of this kind of misinformation.
I agree completely with you
I’m so sick of people calling these essential oils.
Simple Soaparie it’s actually very constructive criticism. It does nobody any good to have incorrect information.
Simple Soaparie what people are saying is not negative it’s enlightening and educating. Big difference! She is not making E O she is making infusions. Nothing wrong with pointing that out and correcting it.
Omg! “A rose by any other name.. “ I don’t care what you call it, this is amazing!! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
she was a lovely lady and loved the way she made lilac. I'll be doing this. thank you for the video. very informative and you're just lovely.
she hot woman
I concur.
Hi
Good idea
Which fruits do youvdry in oven? & can you retain the nutrients?
This is great for the products you are making, but it is NOT an essential oil, it is infused oil! When you use alcohol, it is a tincture. There is a reason you pay so much money for 1oz of essential oil it is because it requires so much plant material to make a small amount by a distilling process and it is extremely concentrated unlike the infused oil you made.
+watuwaitn4 Essential means: absolutely necessary; extremely important.
It does not mean the way somthing is made.
+watuwaitn4 And how to make essential oil?
+MindAndLife making real essential oil is hard for the average person to do in their own home and requires distillation or some sort.
Essential oils are usually extracted via steam dustillation.
I love your accent 🧡
Also I think if you dry your flowers in your oven before you do this infused process you will speed up the cooking process, as well as lowering the chances of water being in the oil which could potentially cause mold.
Hello! How many minutes in the oven as well as the settings? Can this process work for lavender too?
Thank you for this beautiful video. I am a big fan of infused oil. I just discovered your vlog, will check out others. Just wanted to clarify to your viewers incase anyone thinks infused oil is same as essential oils of plants that we usually buy would like advise the following:
The essential oils that you buy tend to be expensive because they are the essence of a plant, basically the extract from inside the plant that is extracted usually via steam distillation or solvent extraction or Carbon dioxide extraction.
Please send your details mail id or youtube channel name
Thank you.
Yes the nice thing about an infused essential oil is there is no need to mix it with a carrier oil...the essential oils in the plant become bonded with the grapeseed oil and the end result is similar to an essential oil mixed with a carrier.
Thanks for the explanation!
Thank you for this explanation
I LOVE your backyard! Your accent is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
COOLJAZZY I can hear a lovely Brazilian accent by the beautiful lady. Am I right?
COOLJAZZY I thought she had and accent like gru from despicable me
I would definitely say Brazilian too!
Completely sounds Brazilian.

Hi
You saved me time since I was only cooking for about 3 hours and letting them sit for a month.
thankyou
Cheers!
The proper terminolgy would be an infused oil.
I had lilac bushes when I was growing up and they are so beautiful and smell amazing. You are so lucky to have them in your yard and enjoy them every spring. That in itself is wonderful.
I love the way you made the oil so you can always enjoy the fragrance.
For everyone complaining she clearly states in the video that this is infact Lilac Infused Oil..
Thanks
Nice video on how to make Infused Oil and not Essential Oils. The title of this video is misleading.
It also has high amounts of Omega 6 & antioxidants
That oil is especially great if you want to fry something because of its high smoke point, unlike olive oil which burns easier
Thanks for the video :)
Ma'am you are my lifesaver!!!! I love essential oils so much but I am a cheap ass and didn't want to spend so much money on oils. You are a blessing!
Genecy Salas This is NOT essential oil, so don't think you can use it the same! If you truly want to make your own essential oils, search "steam distillation" to learn how to get REAL eos ...
Absolutely correct. Thus is an infusion not an essential oil.
This lady is wonderful. She is very easy to listen to, easy to understand and very resourceful. Why do people want everyone to be perfect and exact in what they do? This lady is sharing her resourceful ideas and will save you money. I was taught that only GOD can judge....AMEN.....
I thought the same thing! That blouse is adorable! I love it!
thank you so much! ignore these blokes with comments about this not being essential oil. they have NO idea where their oils come from or HOW they are made I am sure. they are buying online from non regulated sources so whatever.
Good Job!!! :)
I’ll definitely be trying this! But what setting would I leave it cooking on, on an electric hob? I only have settings 1-9 💓
This is a lovely. straight-forward, informative and gentle video. Thank you very much!

Isn't this just infused oil, and not essential oil?
Thank you your post is informative.
Andrew De Freitas she just said that it's an infused oil at 1:42 go back and listen. damn that hard to listen???
Andrew De Freitas actually essential oils were not pressed it's made using the process of steam distillation
It takes 100 pounds of lavender flower to make one 15 oz bottle of PURE 100% oil ;)
LISTEN SHE SAID IT'S INFUSED OIL! FRICK YOU!
Dont listen to those uncultured close-minded people who cannot express their argument in a proper way. You have done an outstanding work there, your intention to acknowledge people is truly lovely! I support you from the deepest of my heart.
Her backyard is so pretty!!!!!!!
Does it smell good. Can I use it as a skin oil? and how long does the smell last?
I just watched this today. I have lavender in my garden but not in flower, so I cooked the leaves in a slow cooker with grapeseed oil for 7 hours. OMG the smell is through my house and is so divine. It doesn't smell like lavender though. This is the first post that says to cook fresh. Everywhere else it says to dry. I prefer instance gratification, so I hope this works. I will try it in my soaps. I think I would have to use the lot as I dont think this can be stored as the leaves have moisture would could make it go rancid
Interesting, but I don't think this is an essential oil. This is more of a flower essence, which is still nice, but it's not an essential oil.
You are correct, Mary. This is an infusion, NOT an essential oil. A TRUE essential oil has no other ingredients other than the herb or flower.
PwnageDev HI ; thx 4 this explination but please can you explain more
PwnageDev i would like to know an easy way to extract 100% pure oils of plants at home or if you can give me a site to learn how to do it and thx
i love this i'm currently making mint oil out of olive oil and mint leaves from my mini garden with this formula, great work!
Essential oils are the extract of a material, not the addition of one.
+Sir Douglas Howel, 5th Seat thank you. this is sad.
She made it pretty clear that these were not "essential oils" but aroma oils, if you were paying attention.
You're absolutely right in that she said it wasn't an essential oil... but the title of the video is "How to make Essential Oils"
We all understand what she meant... but the title is a little misleading.
+Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ yeah this is TH-cam tho.
It's an oil infusion. it does have the "essence" of the plant which makes it an "essential" oil.
I want to make lemon grass how i can do it ?
You must distilate the plant
@@swarthyswan you can do it the same as this though , as long as you use a base oil it will leach and pick up the triterpene's
THANK YOU FOR TEACHING THIS METHOD TO ME...you have saved me sooo much money and now I am able to make use of my wonderful smelling flowers in my garden. I just subscribed+look forward to learning more from you..I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
I love her accent and personality.
Your presentation and explanation is superb.... You tell everything in details not much hurried... Your video helped me
The way she says lilac is cute and satisfying 😂🥰
Can grape seed oil use in any other herbal plants or flowers for making oils? Please suggest. Normally I use olive oil...
Thank you...
Tru
You are not only pretty but also speak so beautifully!!😘😍
It's as if one is being taken thru a kindergarten class!! So lovingly!
Blessed Be ! Thank you ! You are Stunning and SO BEAUTIFUL ~
In New Jersey as a young
wife I filled my home with Lilacs from lavis bushs in my yard. So fresh and fragrant.
Your back yard is amazing!!
For those purists posting negative comments, this is NOT essential oil, but her procedure yielded *way more* of a _very similar_ product for considerably less money, compared to buying the 1-oz bottle.
For most uses (cosmetic products, air fresheners), this is a very good option. Like.
Stop repeating comments other..if this is not a essential oil! Then fine!
It will be fine if the title changes. Word!
RAPTUZ bruh
Such a nice way to present and so very educative. Very helpful video as essential oils cost too much plus you have a beautiful voice and style.
Keep it up and nice work, lady.
🙏🙏🙏
This video was so informative, I subscribed!
Oooohhh Happy Hour...that was awesome!!!
Thank you for making this video. You have a lovely garden and sweet voice. I just needed to know how to infuse flowers and get their scent.
If this lady had continued on with her TH-cam channel, she would have well over 1 million subscribers by now
This does NOT make essential oil. This is just an infused grape seed oil. You would need vastly more lilac to make 2 cups of lilac essential oil.
Please beware, this is NOT an essential oil, but an oil infusion made with way to much heat.

what is the difference between essential oil and oil infusion? and which is the right way to make essential oil?
Now you have an herbal infusion that can be used for many things, like soap, lotions, creams, massage etc…
Making an essential oil is much more involved, complicated and an absolute art in itself.

So lemon oil is the same thing? just use lemon peels? Can we do that?

It's for lotion and shampoo you dummy
Despite the criticisms and corrections, I enjoyed your video very much, found it useful and very pleasant to watch. Thank you for taking the time to share your process! Please don't stop making videos! Blessings.
This is NOT how to make essential oils. This is a great tutorial on how to make infused oils. Change the title and it will get a thumbs up. I should have known better because lilac doesn't t even have essential oils. But I would not leave the stove on for that long. Get a crock pot.

open your ears... thats what she just said.. ffs.
Tank you. This so amazing as I always asked myself if essence oils could be done this way. But, I really found a vido that so simple as I imaged. There were those videos that you have to spend so much money to do it as you have to buy its. Yeah that you again!!! You made my day.
Beautiful garden and awesome video :)
Thank you so much..I was really in need of knowing how to make essential oil and here I came across..

I did not realize how easy it is to do!
How to make milkweed oil
Thank you for sharing, I also don’t want to spend 20dlls in a bottle of oil infuser that I can make myself 😄
This has been a genious video! I will try this out today! Lots of hugs from Budapest, Hungary
Well that was fun & positive : ) Thanks for sharing!
Heat infusing yes; "sauteing" the flowers . . . not even close . . . .are you going to all of the videos espousing that this is how they make essential oils . . . ?
I have peppermints growing in my yard. I’m making some this evening. Your video was great!
sooo this is a tutorial for infused oil not essential oil.....
It's worth noting that the $10 1 oz bottle is PURE essential oil, rather than 2 cups of grapeseed oil with lilac aromas.
I just made some Rosemary essential oil and it is wonderful. The color is so deep green and the aroma is fantastic. No, I dont have a home distillation machine. I used her method prior to me seeing her video.
Is it okay if the oil bubbles a bit I don’t have a way of taking the oils temperature
I’m currently making some with rosemary and have no idea what temperature it’s at
@@zaidcastillo7716 It is best if it doesn't bubble. That might mean the temp is too high.
Lala Shelala thank you
Lala Shelala it bubbles a bit but I tried to keep it from doing that and now I have a subtle smell in my grapeseed oil
this is not essential oil. don't spread misinformation like that. this is a lavender INFUSED oil, not ESSENTIAL oil.
essential oil is the pure oil of lavender, unadulterated by other oils.
+Roobz Z this thread has had a serious focus shift, from making a fragrant oil, to constantly correcting people. BTW, she is making lilac oil, not lavender. Not to be rude, but just so no one is misinformed.
Oh get a grip, if it's not what you're looking for, look at another video.
This is lilac, not lavender dum dum
It is not LAVENDER it LILAC. See how you are.
great job in doing it yourself. Good job.
That isn't essential oil, it's infused oil, big difference
Good information on essential oil with very sweet and clear voice. Liked your kitchen also. All the best.
Thanks.
