I mean, to be fair, the tests are about wisdom and courage. One could argue it takes courage to take on a hinox with nothing but a metal cube and wisdom of how to essentially beat the trials super easily lol
my box broke too, but fortunately, for precaution i got some shitty weapons on the first floor. I did not fight the Hinox with them, i simply stasis him, and then threw the shitty wooden stick on his eyes. When he falls and sits on the ground, you can then snap the weapons on his collar. He has an knight bow, sword and shield on him, and the box that broke had 10 arrows, then it was just a normal Hinox fight
@@Faz-86 Master mode! i kept the same strategy on the other trials! the middle and the last ones are even better, because there is already a bow on the the Forst floor of each one, grab as many weapons, and the bow, and when you get to the Hinox, stun him and grab his weapons, you can kill him pretty much only with the Knight Bow and Sword, if you don't let him heal
@Immortal Doggo The sword is almost for sure enough, sometimes it breaks, but you can finish with the bow. And as i said, the metal box you encounter underwater has 10 ARROWS inside it. Don't use the box to hit the Hinox, break it on the ground and use it to shoot
SOMETHING GENUINELY HELPFUL! If you get to the Hinox and you screw up your skew, it's not completely over! The section of water where you make an angled cryonis cube can be used for a makeshift skew generator! Just jump from the ground and make a skew by doing the shield jump ONTO the angled cryonis cube! I thought I messed up but I figured I'd give it a try and it worked! Middle trials skipped thanks to that!
Still works in August 2021 - in master mode!! Here are some tips that helped me a lot. Don't cheap out on the skew. A strong skew in an exact cardinal direction makes clipping way easier. I recommend going into the Keo Ruug shrine that he was skewing on. After beating it (the answer from left to right upon entering is 5, 3, 1, 2), there are ramps that point exactly in all 4 cardinal directions where you can get a perfect skew. This is super helpful because the trial walls are in exact cardinal directions. My out of bounds area in the trials looked slightly different, but the rooms are in the same place. If the ground looks like you'll fall through, you will, and you'll have to reset. I found that hitting the Hinox on the chin was more consistent than the belly. Even in master mode, beating him was very easy after a couple failed attempts where I didn't have the timing and hitbox figured out.
I can’t seem to get it....inside the shrine at the pillars where exactly should I be aiming at, at the base or on the slope or on flat ground just beside the pillar?
@@number6223 if you're still at it...seriously just do what dude did on the side of the shrine. Run up it, get your shield out, but land on it like you're snow boarding...then test out your skew ONCE. It seems like the more I played around testing it, it was getting weaker (in trials/out of bounds). With a good skew, I even got hit twice during the middle trials trying to get the shield from the bokoblin...and still made it to the Hinox.
I'm usually against using glitches in my playthroughs, but this is an exception. The amount of stress that I had to go through during my normal mode run was immeasurable, and I'm not planning to have to go through that again in Master mode
Normal mode was Disney compared to Master Mode. The silver Bokoblin on level 4, took 4-5 (not in order) bomb hits dead on, and didn't even flinch...was all "FK THAT!!!!"
@@windrogue78 it's the same principal of the regular mode, except more time crunching and running around avoiding massive damage. The issue with me, was that I was throwing several bombs on the bokoblins face, or near, and it was doing 0 dmg. I don't know wtf that was about. Several times.
@@Jason_Van_Stone I have completely boomeranged since yesterday I beat the beginner trials As for the bombs, im pretty sure the bokos have invincibility frames when they get up from a ragdoll
Some tips: - It's a bit more consistent to get skew from the great deku tree's nearby branch. There's a very steep incline that gives you just enough time to jump off before you slide down - Use the sheikah sensor to locate a blue hinox, that way you know if you're in the right box
July 2020 it still works. some tips - Defintely get a good skew -- use the shrine - Be very patient.....like very patient -- it took around 2 hours for it to work for me. trying to jump into the hinox temple took a while - make sure to check at times that you have a skew during the glitch - don't get hit by any monsters -- I noticed that if you get hit you almost always lose the skew - take out the monsters who have bow and arrows first - Use the bombs - When you meet the Hinox, don't hit the stomache but rather hit the eye or the head area of the monster with the metal box. I found it to work more consistently in like hitting and stopping the hinox from attacking - make sure to check if you re at the right building. - I found that restarting my game after each trial was helpful. If your doing the glitch for over like an hour, the game can just shut down. Not a huge problem but my game crashed once after 2nd trial. - follow what the video says to do this glitch will work, you just need to set it up right and perform the actions right. aight hope this helps. This was just my experience so no hate pls.
For the final one I can’t to the hinox. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m able to shield clip the first part easy(even after getting hit) but the second part is hard. In the video it looks like he’s using his paraglider into the shied clip. And also I can’t tell what’s going on after I go through the wall which almost always ruins my skew. Any tips?
@@Druggy-Doggo I messed up st Beginning trials for the hinox. The first wall has no colission but the second has. Just stay between these two rooms Zoom with your shiekah slate to get ur cam position. Then find an angle where u can lool between those rooms. And try to have a like 3 step Distance. Sprint for like 10 frames and then shield jump. If this dont work try to get an better skew IN the shrine
another good way i found to kill the hinox is to destroy all the trees with the bombs. then the hinox can't take them to attack you. then create a ice block in the water, climb up there and kill the hinox using your bombs. you're too far away from the hinox for it to attack you but close enough to damage it with the bombs!
Tried the strategy with the ice blocks so that the hinox won't reach you... turns out: he just casually walks though the wather destroying the ice blocks so... yeah not really safe. Tried this in Master Mode btw, maybe thats the reason because the hinox is black here?
NOTICE!!!! One thing he did not mention, when you check for the skew, you have to be facing north or south. If you face east or west, you would only clip forward or backwards, which doesn’t show.
4:35 'Now, the good thing about this is you have an unlimited amount of tries to get it' Unless you randomly bump into the wall wrong, which resets your skew, forcing you to do everything over again Could mentioned that
I cant fucking do the shield skew shit Edit: im retarted i was doing the whole unequip chield thing on the shrine slope thing instead of just normally shield surfing against it THEN the unequip thing
For the middle trials, Take the time to grab a bow and some arrows in the first room. And make sure you have Stasis+. If you accidentally break the box, you can stasis the Hinox and shoot it’s eye to stun it for a good while. Just make sure not to be near it when it’s falling to the ground, it could kill you
A tip for everyone: If you lose skew in the trial, you can get it again by using the axe to chop down a tree, then stand up against the tree, facing the side of the trunk. Press ZL and move right up against the downed tree, then do 2 backflips, a shield parry, and then a forward shield surf. If you do this correctly you should get a strong skew off of the curve of the fallen tree trunk. This is much quicker than exiting and reentering the shrine.
You can also make two ice cubes and try to shield surf off one and land by the top corner of the second one. You can adjust accordingly. Make sure to reset each skew because even if you miss, you can have a skee albeit a small angle (1-5 degrees). But what Jami said is more efficient. But the ice cube trick basically makes it so you can have skew in any direction you want
@@beanslol1725 when you skew, make sure Link is fully sideways. You'll notice a jitter in the animation. If this doesn't happen, then you didn't skew and need to redo the processes on the shrine.
@@aysenuryilmaz59 I did it and it took me like 20 tries, its like he said, 2 frame window in a 30 fps game, you have to hit a 15th of a second correctly, but just keep trying. Its harder because of the blocks.
Just completed the final trials. Knowing which side of the wall to clip through helps a lot when you know if your skew tilt to left or right when landing. If you lost your skew, you can get it back by jumping on the tree on floor 1. Also once you reach the final floor outside and you lost your skew again, use cryonis on the water on a edge slanted surface and jump onto the ice block. My first attempt my metal box broke, so its best to clear floor 1 and grab arrows and weapons if you suck at this game like me. Very helpful tutorial!!!
What I did was I got close to it and dodged his hands and then stasised him. Then when under and stole the weapons attached to him, when u get the bow, grab some arrows in the ground and then u can easily kill him with that stuff
My suggestion is to actually beat the first room of whatever trial you are in completely and getting all the weapons available before going to the Hinox room. It's way easier than going into the room with no weapons and fighting him with a metal box. The video makes it seem easy, but rhe hitbox of the metalbox is extremely inconsistent, most of the time the Hinox will simply not get hit. Unless you do this is a frame perfect fashion, it just does not work. The weapons in the first room are usually more than sufficient to take him down if you have Stasis+. And you can also use Remote bombs. In fact, it is important that you do. If you accidentally fail to hit him one time with the the metalbox, then you most likely will not be able to hit him again due to the inconsistency I mentioned. So the Hinox will have the opportunity to grab a tree, and if he does, say Bye-Bye and restart because you are basically guaranteed to die. But if you destroy the trees with remote bombs, he cannot do this.
Here’s my story: after getting a really good skew, I got up to the final room in the middle trials. Just as I was about to break through using the 2-frame window on the Cryonis block, I accidentally bonked against the wall… with my shield out. Pain.
ok so, for anyone still doing this glitch, you can actually reobtain skew by placing a cryonis block on the tilted water, then placing another cryonis block behind it, and then just shieldjump onto the tilted side of the cryonis block it's a bit tricky but it's better than restarting
@@sambazeley5366 where are you trying to obtain skew? the best place for beginners is the Yah Rin shrine near Lurelin village i don't remember if the tutorial shows that or not other than that, it's just a matter of practice
I just did that literally two minutes ago, but I wasnt gonna let an hour of time go down the drain, so I went back to the edge of the water, made a crionis block, and gave myself a wicked good skew off of the corner of it
I think the gauntlet idea is really interesting, but I think if you could save between rooms or at the very least safe zones would really minimize the frustration (especially on master mode)
Sir Octopus I agree with you, a save system really does not make sense for the trails imo. But I feel like the trials weren’t meant for master mode. Some rooms are really designed to take slow, but in master mode you mostly can’t, because of the regeneration.
It would have been really entertaining if they did what the previous games did, and created a gauntlet where you could go in loaded down with supplies and still burn through all of them.
The key to this for those who are having trouble getting back into the Hinox room after clipping out is resetting your skew. Place an ice block at an angle on the edge where the water starts. This allows you to shield jump to reset the skew and shield jump to create a new one onto the angled top of the ice block and slide off. Since the skew is weakened by clipping out the original wall, this will create a better skew. After that, it was easy. Keeping that box from breaking.... not so much
Appreciate the video and the help. I beat the sword trials in regular mode and that was hard enough. I can’t imagine the pain I would go through trying it on this mode. So thanks for not letting me suffer. Took me a while to understand the whole skew thing. And how it worked, but once you get a good skew it’s simple to clip through a wall. I’m just more impressed that I was able to clip through the wall leading to the Hinox considering you can’t really see anything. But I hit those first try all three times. So thanks again!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've got palsy in one arm so combat is always a crapshoot for me; the idea of not being able to save between rooms, then mess up 'cause I literally cannot control Link very well and have to start alllllll over just stressed me out so much. (tips below) A couple things I did differently that might help people: 1. Don't bother trying to cheese the Hinox. Nothing I did worked consistently, if at all. Just sneak onto its hand, let it lift you onto its belly, IMMEDIATELY stasis it and steal everything around its neck. The bow and sword he's got should get you through the entire fight no problem (not sure if that's true for Master Mode though). The metal box he uses in the vid has arrows; for the beginner trials, grab it with magnesis and whack the Hinox in the head with it until it breaks. Grab the arrows, then fight the Hinox like normal (I practiced on the Hinox on the Digdogg Suspention bridge for a while until I got it down). For the other trials just pick up arrows before you leave the first room & don't bother with the metal box. 2. One of the other comments mentioned an alternate route for the final trials, which I highly recommend: instead of going between the two dark domes, go around the one on the right. There will be a clear path to the other side of the canyon he paraglides into in the vid. Take that, then turn left and run past the three rooms with the large floating cubes. The fourth room has the Hinox. I mainly used this path 'cause the "infinite stamina" glitch shown is physically impossible for me to do. 3. If you're low on hearts (I only had 13), eat a meal to get max temporary hearts before entering the trial. That way if the Hinox gets a lucky hit in or if you get blasted by lightning running over in the final trials, it won't matter as much. 4. For the middle and final trials, try to clear out the first room without getting hit before attempting the glitch. Getting hit with a melee attack ruins your skew, so I found it easier to kill everything first and then focus on trying to clip out of the room. This isn't necessary in the beginner trials since you can just run up a tree and crouch to get them to leave you alone, but you can do it if you want. For everything else, just do it *exactly* as shown in the video. I had to pause the video to see where he jumped from to clip out of each room. Make sure to check your skew before entering the trials as well, and make sure it's at least 90 degrees. Hope this helps! Good luck everyone!
Guys, come on, you’re much better off actually doing the trials; they’re well designed and you’ll learn a lot about the game in the process. Oh, you’re on Master Mode? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL nvm screw that crap please continue

lol yeah, i finished it in normal mode (barely) and then i can't even get past the first set of trials in master mode (though i'm not an expert at games, but i am really good :P)
If this keeps happening, I recommend just watching the entire cut-scene where link puts the sword into the pedestal. I was having this problem and this fixed it.
True. Even though there’s way faster methods nowadays, this is the easiest/most user-friendly. I’m on my third or fourth time doing this skip, just because I love replaying this game, and it saves me so much time and headache
After an hour and a half, I can safely say I’m finished. Still works 5/4/2020. 100%ing master mode is a great way to pass the time in quarantine. I recommend grabbing all the loot on the first floor of the final trials as it is possible to beat the hinox with it if the crate breaks, and those hinox fights are really anxiety inducing!
holy shit, Thanks so much for this guide. I was pulling my hair out doing master mode of this, and after this I got the fully upgraded sword following your guide. much love from your neighboring country of Norway
Finally, a tutorial that explained everything! All of the others assume you know how to do the various tricks. I’ve tried a few but this was the first that actually worked!
Yes this still works and yes it's frustrating at first trying to clip through the walls but it can be done. Some tips, get your skew to a 90 degree angle, it will make clipping through the walls so much easier. When attempting to clip through the walls unequip as soon as you see your shield touch the wall (you might not get it on your first try but keep trying.) When fighting the boss the box can break so be careful but if it does just spam bombs. (I attempted this on Master Mode.)
Okay, after banging my head against a wall with this, I have learned a few things, ontop of how to do it. First, your skew needs to lean the opposite direction of whatever wall you're facing (I.E. lean back, the straighter the better). Second, you can actually get skew from the large tree in the middle of the first area in the beginner trials, fairly easily TBH. Finally, lets say you're facing a wall, and your skew leans right, turn to the right, and it should then lean back, meaning you want to use THAT wall. The skew he has in the video is actually not ideal, as he leans slightly to the left of the wall he's facing, which is why it takes a few attempts.
Tip: go inside the shrine in korok forest and put the code from left to right: 5, 3, 1, 2. Then use the pillars in the closed off area. It is the most consistent way of getting a skew because it is a completely smooth surface. Just remember to find the correct direction when you enter the trial.
thank you for your service (also tip to anyone reading this, if you get skew on the right side of the pillars from where you walk in, you’ll have the same angle as Linkus)
Does you have to be facing a specific direction inside the shrine? You can get through any wall in the trial but there’s only one wall to enter the trial with the blue hinox - that’s where i’m having trouble
@@tobecontinued6882 I attempted it less than a month ago and it worked then, and there haven't been any Updates for BotW since, so I can confirm that it still works
Wow, I managed to beat it with this guide! It took a looong time for sure 😒. I beat it honestly on normal mode, and was not interested in doing it again on Master mode. So greatful for this guide 🙏
After exactly 11 hours of rage quitting, dying, messing up my skew, I finally killed the Hinox on the Final Trial, just to accidentally fling the box at myself and die cause I had half a heart, feels bad man Edit: aaand I finally completed it
I accidentally closed my game when i was talking to the deku tree after u do the final trials and it didn't save so I decided to not do the trials again
2019/Jun/27: Still works! Some key notes: Don't slam against the wall, that also resets the glitch. Funny story: Finally I made it outside. I arrive the cliff where you glide to. But it never stopped raining for me o.0 So going uphill even with the whistle technique was HARD. Finally made it inside the dungeon (and stopped raining at that point). Grab the box, start hitting the Honix, but I was Too close... HE SLAMMED IT. I end up with 1/4 heart thinking all hope is lost. But after luring him to palm trees, eating coconuts, and spamming both type of remote bombs... I DID IT :'D
Tip for all: hello from 2023! If you are having issues clipping in/out, make sure that after you unequip shield during the flip, IMMEDIATELY resume pressing forward on the left stick after removing your thumb from the d-pad. This brought me from like a 10% success rate to 90%+. Cheers!
5/24/19 It still works I appreciate this video man. You saved me a long time of retrying. I can't stand Trails on Master Mode. P.S. (Edit) I also found that during the fight with the Hinox on MM, If you pick up the Magnesium Block and bring it to his eye level, swing the box left to right back to left was easier than hitting his stomach. I did damage faster, he also had a small hitstun animation which locked him into place and it prevented him from accidentally stepping on the block. I used the right analog stick on the pro control btw. Did all 3 trails in about 30 mins.
Just got fully upgraded with this. The last trial is the hardest to set up but it worked. I found that reseting your skew using an angled ice block on the edge of the water bubble really helps to glith into the hinox trial room
Thanks for spelling the directions for this out so clearly. Getting the shield clip to work was easy enough, but the directions to take once I'd clipped through the wall for the final trials were driving me crazy! Funny thing is, once I got to the Hinox, I was out of position, and he smashed the metal box before the fight even started. Ten minutes of giving his heel the Achilles treatment with remote bomb, it was all over.
here just to say that if u feel overwhelmed cuz u can't pass the trials unless u use the glitch, it's fine. normal mode, master mode; it doesn't matter. u can always do them in the proper way after if u feel and want to. the game is yours, u decide how to enjoy it. the most important thing is that ur having fun ❤️
@Christian King it's the bare minimum, really!! nobody has the right to tell u how u should enjoy ur game. it's ur game, not theirs. having fun is the most important thing ❤️
especially since it’s single player, play how you want. if you like playing completely glitchless that’s fine, if you want to abuse glitches to the fullest that’s also fine
This is so true. I had completed all of the divine beasts and put off going to the castle to face Ganon. On a whim, I was headed to the castle and found a pretty good route directly to Ganon. Went for it and "beat the game". Still playing it ever since, trying to find most of the koroks and shrines. It helps to be in the right frame of mind and just have fun. Getting frustrated makes things more difficult.
Hej! This still works as of January 2022. I just wanted to gather all the helpful tips that I got from different comments in this video. I would like to credit the people, but it is quite difficult to look for all of them again. So here it goes. As many suggest, DO NOT CHEAP OUT YOUR SKEW. Having a really good skew helps a lot, try lots of times on the shrine's slope until you get a good skew. Also, try to not get hit by enemies, since it "weakens" your skew. On any difficulty, try to clear out the first room, this is in order to collect arrows, a bow, and a few weapons to beat the Hinox. As previously hinted, forget about the metal box, or at least I never got it to work consistently. It was easier for me to just fight the Hinox. Here was the strategy. As soon as you reenter the room, sneak to his hand and let him raise you to his belly. Even if you step on him, it never wakes him up. Steal the weapons from his neck, and let the fight begin. What you want to do is run to the metal box that Linkus uses, magnesis it and drop on his head to make some damage, and collect the arrows that are inside. Usually, 10 arrows should be enough (At least for me in master mode). Once you have some arrows, just do three steps 1. Keep your distance and stasis him. 2. While in stasis, hit him in the eye. 3. While he is stunned on the floor, run and attack him directly. to deal some additional damage. When he stands up, just run again to keep your distance. By this time Stasis+ should almost be reloaded, so that you can just repeat the process until you kill him. For me, it was easier to fight the Hinox on the 2nd and 3rd trials, since you can get lots of arrows in the first room. However, it is quite easy to mess up your skew on the first room of the 2nd trial, since enemies can hit you quite easily. If this were to happen to you, just load outside the trial, and try again, be patient! It took me quite a few hours to finally get the first trial. 2nd and 3rd were easier. Good luck everyone! Some other tips that might be useful. - If you are having a hard time to reenter the Hinox room, you can reset your skew by making a cryonis block at an angle on the inclined surface of water and jumping on it. - If you don't really have any weapons while fighting the Hinox, just spam bombs at him like crazy. Change between bombs and throw them as quick as you can to avoid regeneration (Master mode) - On the third trial, you can also go around the right sphere instead of going between the two of them. By going to the right and just going around the sphere, there is literally almost a path that guides you across the gap, and the wall that you need to use the glitch to climb.
Still works 2024. Just did it yesterday, but it took a while to understand how to do it. The content creator describes it very well. It's interesting the way all the levels are laid out after you glitch through the wall. It's almost as if the designers wanted you to be able to do this.
I keep losing mine as I attempt the wall clip. After several tries, without landing on my shield on the ground, my skew goes away and I have to reload.
@@Shigarui This is happening to me as well. I think it has to do with unequepping the shield to late though, like after basically already hitting the wall (even when not on ground).
Btw if anyone wants to make it a tad bit easier. 1. Speed buff before entering trial(makes it faster) or attack buff(clears hinox faster for other steps) 2. Get the weapons at the start before clipping out(to throw it at the Hinox eye) 3. Just get the weapons on the Hinox some how(if he wakes up throw weapons into his eye for stun) 4. Break the metal crate instead of attacking the hinox with it(arrows for the knight bow from hinox) 5. Beat the shit out of him
Just managed to do this... oh man my master mode run can finally be 100%'d. This thing is stupid on Master mode the health regen at least should be turned off.
Here's some tips: Using the scale in the Yah Rin shrine will give you an excellent skew If you lose your skew trying to clip back in bounds, make a cryo where the water starts to tilt, and another behind it to jump onto the side with.
@@VijoPlays I KNOW. It was pure hell. I played nothing but botw for 3 weeks until I finally beat the stupid beginner trials. That was seriously the one of the most difficult challenges I've ever overcome in a game. It's up there with Cuphead and The Perfect Run which took me five years to beat.
Oh hell yes. Master Mode Master Trials are cruel, any excuse to get around them would be appreciated. Even just the first round, where the lizalfos are dang near impossible and require perfect chained sneakstrikes
Mid and final trials are about the same difficulty as in normal mode, but this damn beginner trial... You blink for one sec and those damn lizards go from 1hp to max
@@heroicaknight4735 lol what's up with Lizaf- OH. That one room with 2 of them at the center whereas the whole room has water. That part is less difficult once you pick up as many weapons as you can, and save them for those 2 silver Lizafos. The trick is to not knock them back, but if you did, you have to use arrows and bombs to defeat them. Use an ice block or two as a passive shield.
@@Zhello79 well yeah. I just have then in general. They move so fast and jump so far that it's nearly impossible to fight then mano a mano. Yeah you could use bows pretty effectively, but that's not as satisfying to me...
I can confirm that this glitch still works in 8/27/22. It took me a couple resets to kill the hinok with the metal box I recommend turning on aim with motion controls setting so that you can move the box up and down quick and not to hard. But it took me about 30-45 minutes to complete all the trials combined and it was super fun in my opinion.
I can't even get through the first wall I have the skew But my controller keeps opening the bomb menu when I'm pressing the button for the shield menu, so I pand on my shield and have to reset
Linkus, I absolutely love you. This helped me a lot, picked the wrong room on the last one but I clipped back out, ez. Love the content, the info and runs. Keep it up!!!
To anyone who loses their skew and outside of any room, you can use cryonis on the egde of the level (5:59) to regain a skew and get back inside. If you are in a room (havent tested) maybe try to use a tree or nearby rock to regain your skew.
Thank you so much! I been stuck in Master Mode Beginners Trials for so long that I don’t even feel Bad for beating it while glitching. A good tip that I found while fking it up is that if while fighting the hinox you place the box in between the stomach and the head you Can hit him in the way up (head) and on the way down (stomach). Which makes it faster to Kill.
Getting through the walls is nigh impossible. He makes it look insanely easy. I've been trying for 3 hours and got nothing. (yes I have good skew) I ended up just doing the trials the intended way for 5 more tries and beat it.
Lol it was pretty easy for me. I have a few tips. First is to make sure u are using the right wall. Second is try to not get hit while you have the skew, or your skew will not be as good. Third is to just make sure you unequip the shield just before you hit the wall, so that your skew activates just while you are hitting the wall. Bonus tip: for the Hinox, hit lightly. If you hit too hard the box will break. He will almost certainly kill you if your box breaks. In the case that it does break, do a flurry rush when he does his clap attack then grab the sword on his necklace, as it have a high damage output.
1. To get the right skew more often, run up to the "seamless" or "smooth" part of the shrine's surface, more to the top, then unequip your shield as soon as it touches that surface. Link should slightly "pop" off the surface and ragdoll. You should then have at least a 90° skew to the left, if you face the same side as Linkus at 3:21. (tip: you should NOT hear the shield bump sound, as you lose the skew if it makes contact) 2. If you're having trouble clipping through the wall of the third and final Hinox, try clipping through the opposite side of the arena. You're probably on the wrong wall. 3. Hitting the Hinox's chin with the box works as well and is easier, you can even chain two hits if the box touches the stomach before the chin. Don't be overly gentle with the movement. 4. If you die at any point, you keep the skew, no need to redo the whole process (As Linkus said, the glitch carries over loading screens).
I used this video years ago to accomplish what I couldn't before. To this day, I still owe Linkus everything for showing me how to skip what seemed impossible. Thank you so much, man. 👍
Finally managed to get the beginners trial yesterday (own the dlc since release lol) aced the mid trial first try and took around 2 hours on the final trial. So quite optimistic I started the beginners trial in master mode and well... let's just say I'll try the glitch next
Go into a blessing shrine and jump on the right wall that is near the monk (it is very steep). This will give you a skew that is perfectly "east", meaning you can do the clip almost 100% of the time if you have the timing right
Okay get it to Work for the First trial. I started with jumping against the shrine. After Link dropped strange on the ground like a ragdoll i had this skew. Afer this Its Important to not land on the shield. If you Do, u reset the skew. Then it worked on the First try inside the trial. But couldnt get it to Work on the second one.
@@VindicatorMorty His method to get the skew was the problem for me because you could get a weird angle when obtained and in order to clip you will have to perform that same angle and that's why it hardly worked for me using his method. I followed this tutorial to understand how to clip (th-cam.com/video/yTTlv_fxBn4/w-d-xo.html), I recommend you to watch it and I am sure you will be able to clip the wall faster and in a more precise matter. Just remember which cardinal point you use to create the skew, if you did north then the wall to clip is the north one. To complete the trials once clipped I did followed his tutorial, in that area he did a really good job!
@Ryan Giancarlo Sutter Cruz im curious how you did the normal trials with less hearts than is required to even get the master sword which is a requirement for doing the trials 🤔
@Ryan Giancarlo Sutter Cruz sorry can't help myself. But your full of it if you say master trials are easy. That shits hard for the best BoTW players that exist.
That first trial with the docks and the silver lizalfos is why I really REALLY wish they would've disabled the Health regen for the sword trials because it doesn't matter how much you do if they decide to head into the water and stay there until fully healed
Confirming this still works on the Switch for Master Mode in August 2020. Thanks so much - this was extremely helpful! TIPS for those struggling: 1. I found it was easy to figure out which wall to clip into / out of once in the trial by testing out different directions, going with the direction in which Link would skew 'backwards' before self-correcting forwards. 2. With the final trials, my skew kept getting affected by paragliding / climbing once outside the first box, so I took an alternative route by running around the black dome on the right-hand side (mentioned at 11:27) and following the edge until there was a way to the three floating blue cubes/boxes (mentioned at 11:40). Took longer to get to the Hinox box this way, but I clipped into the box on the first go consistently. 3. Definitely follow exactly what's done from 1:37 on the shrine re setting the skew. This was the best tip! 4. My skew kept getting affected once I was hit, so try to avoid this. 5. For Master Mode middle trials, there's a Boko bow at the very back of the middle section mentioned at 8:36. So floated up there, grabbed the bow, went to the other sections to get arrows (used bombs to wipe out the bokoblins), came back to the middle section and used floating / slow-mo shots to headshot the bokoblins and took the shield once they were dispatched. Hope this helps!
Finally got it to work took over a day lol was jumping too close to the walls, so wasn't getting through. Cheers its helping me in master mode. 20th June 2019
I only got it to work once on the TV i got through the wall in to the open field but i could not get through to the hinox at all, it probably works on both but I figured the frame rate drops more in hand held than on TV but watch the video VERY CAREFULLY and copy him exactly and jump from the same distance away from the wall as he does and where abouts in the wall he does its pretty much what I had to do.
Can confirm it works as of june 22 2019, skipped the trials without too much problems. Advice: Gain your skew from the Kaam Ya'tak shrine, below the central tower. When you enter, turn right and run until you find a stream. Use the ramp where the water comes from to gain the skew. Then warp to the korok forest thing and begin the trials. The wall you want to clip through is always behind you when you spawn in the trials. Also keep in mind when clipping into the hiniox room, you must not be visible, and INSIDE the walls on the outside, as they have no hitbox. Also, it is possible to kill the hiniox with only remote bombs as I did the first time I tried this cause I broke the box. Good luck!
Master mode with this beginning trial was impossible. Thank you so much I tried it for hours. This glitch was actually pretty easy and I glitched out and in first try. The Hinox trick was surprisingly easy to do
Still works today! Can be a pain to master getting the skew if you don't hit the shrine good enough. I used the trunk of the Deku tree just behind it to get the perfect horizontal angle you want. Make sure you are facing as WEST as possible when you do it.
Yeah I got the skew to work, but how do u stop the metal box from breaking, Ive made it there like 5 times but every time it keeps breaking with about 1 quarter health remaining
I tried this skip when i first got BOTW and did my best to master every glitch and exploit i could. It took me 3 years, and coming back to master mode feeling like the game was brand new to be able to actually preform Shield Clipping. After all the tips about skew, and suggestions on the best spot to get it, the trees inside the very first room gave me the perfect horizontal-link-skew i needed to clip through the wall behind the camp fire. I was so elated i had to and bask in the success of the moment before trying to fight the Hinox
For those that are having issues with this as I was. You have to make sure when you're setting the skew that you are facing EXACTLY west. Meaning the "N" on your minimap is at the 90 degree angle. Once I did that, I clipped through the wall my first try.
This was THE MOST helpful thing I have ever watched. I did the full trials in about a day and a half, just because I was not realizing that you need a really good skew.
October 2020: still works. I’ve done this 5 times now, it can be a real pain, but it does work and it’s worth it. Get a bow and collect as many arrows as you can for the hinox in case the metal box breaks on you.
that's what i was doing wrong. I've not been facing the right wall. But i do have a question. Is it possible on master mode? Edit: Nevermind work's on mastermode. Thank god you uploaded this
(sees "1 week ago") Bullshit! ive been trying all four directions, and then i end up Losing my skew...but i can clip through a wall First Try, in a shrine...just not the Trials...and im On master mode, my Normal Mode i did it the Normal Way...but im stuck with a 30-damage Sword because these walls are double-thick or somethin -_-
rtyuik7 I’m having the same issue I’ve been doing it for about 4 hours on master mode can’t even get into the first hinox.... I did it all within an hour or so on the normal mode :(
This video is still great and easily understandable. I recently decided to start a new game and I forgot how to do the skip. Your video once again helped me do it.

After an hour of trying the final trial and the frustration that came with failing on the last room (with the guardian, riders, and lynel), I decided I’d give this a try. I managed to get this done start to finish in about 30 minutes and it still works great (5/10/2021)!! Anyone that can’t pull this off, you need a better skew. I did not skew off the shrine however, I could never get a good one for whatever reason. I actually entered the shrine right by the trials, went to the area where the monk is/was. There are pillars and walls there that are nearly vertical. I pulled off a perfect skew off those walls. Bashing the Hinox in his blubber has never been more satisfying! I don’t know how the hell you figured this out, but thanks a ton! :)

My box broke when he was about max health, and I'm playing on master mode, so I threw bombs at it for about an hour.
I did the same thing! Quickly switching between both bombs about 1000times 😂
my box broke too, but fortunately, for precaution i got some shitty weapons on the first floor.
Ícaro Araújo master mode or normal mode? Takes forever on master mode 😩 lol

The hinox broke the box so I kept chucking bombs + at him until he got to and 8th of his health then I died to a tree
Dude, I got three of then at the first try and I think it was for your tip, thanks
This is the best info on the skip, the ramps in the shrine are letting me clip through on my first try almost every time.

- It's a bit more consistent to get skew from the great deku tree's nearby branch. There's a very steep incline that gives you just enough time to jump off before you slide down

- make sure to check at times that you have a skew during the glitch
- don't get hit by any monsters -- I noticed that if you get hit you almost always lose the skew
- take out the monsters who have bow and arrows first
- Use the bombs
- When you meet the Hinox, don't hit the stomache but rather hit the eye or the head area of the monster with the metal box. I found it to work more consistently in like hitting and stopping the hinox from attacking
- make sure to check if you re at the right building.
- I found that restarting my game after each trial was helpful. If your doing the glitch for over like an hour, the game can just shut down. Not a huge problem but my game crashed once after 2nd trial.

another good way i found to kill the hinox is to destroy all the trees with the bombs. then the hinox can't take them to attack you. then create a ice block in the water, climb up there and kill the hinox using your bombs. you're too far away from the hinox for it to attack you but close enough to damage it with the bombs!

One thing he did not mention, when you check for the skew, you have to be facing north or south. If you face east or west, you would only clip forward or backwards, which doesn’t show.

For the middle trials, Take the time to grab a bow and some arrows in the first room. And make sure you have Stasis+. If you accidentally break the box, you can stasis the Hinox and shoot it’s eye to stun it for a good while. Just make sure not to be near it when it’s falling to the ground, it could kill you
A tip for everyone:
If you lose skew in the trial, you can get it again by using the axe to chop down a tree, then stand up against the tree, facing the side of the trunk. Press ZL and move right up against the downed tree, then do 2 backflips, a shield parry, and then a forward shield surf.
If you do this correctly you should get a strong skew off of the curve of the fallen tree trunk.
This is much quicker than exiting and reentering the shrine.
Thanks, wish i read this before leaving and re-entering the trial cuz of loosing skew, why do i loose it tho?
@@dhycee8215 Basically, if you unequip your shield too late and it collides with a surface before you unequip it, you can lose skew.

I can't even figure out how to skew
Just completed the final trials. Knowing which side of the wall to clip through helps a lot when you know if your skew tilt to left or right when landing. If you lost your skew, you can get it back by jumping on the tree on floor 1. Also once you reach the final floor outside and you lost your skew again, use cryonis on the water on a edge slanted surface and jump onto the ice block. My first attempt my metal box broke, so its best to clear floor 1 and grab arrows and weapons if you suck at this game like me. Very helpful tutorial!!!

@Son Goten Animations Yeah but you have to keep running after throwing them and it helps if you upgrade them first it still takes a while though.
What I did was I got close to it and dodged his hands and then stasised him. Then when under and stole the weapons attached to him, when u get the bow, grab some arrows in the ground and then u can easily kill him with that stuff

C R LOL me to
What if i bombarded them?
Until he dies. Then you find him again and repeat. Twice. This poor Hinox man. The real MVP lol.
Pain.
ok so, for anyone still doing this glitch, you can actually reobtain skew by placing a cryonis block on the tilted water, then placing another cryonis block behind it, and then just shieldjump onto the tilted side of the cryonis block
it's a bit tricky but it's better than restarting

I think the gauntlet idea is really interesting, but I think if you could save between rooms or at the very least safe zones would really minimize the frustration (especially on master mode)
Yeah there really needed to be a save system in place. I did it on normal without too much trouble but master mode? forget about it.
The lack of saving is the whole point though, it's a trial to test your abilities. If you can't beat it you can't upgrade the master sword
Sir Octopus I agree with you, a save system really does not make sense for the trails imo. But I feel like the trials weren’t meant for master mode. Some rooms are really designed to take slow, but in master mode you mostly can’t, because of the regeneration.

Keeping that box from breaking.... not so much
Hi I am having the same trouble I cant jump to the Hinox on the last trial :(
Lol
What did you mean by the angled top?

(tips below)
A couple things I did differently that might help people:

OMG RIGHT AS I SAW THIS IT HAPPENED TO ME
It must’ve been patched or something because it happened to me too
It's not patched lol, there's just a chance for the game to crash when going into a loading screen with this glitch active
If this keeps happening, I recommend just watching the entire cut-scene where link puts the sword into the pedestal. I was having this problem and this fixed it.
I almost broke down in tears when this worked, I’ve tried so many different methods and after only one reset this worked, thank you so much!!
True. Even though there’s way faster methods nowadays, this is the easiest/most user-friendly. I’m on my third or fourth time doing this skip, just because I love replaying this game, and it saves me so much time and headache
Tip for everyone: Use the almost vertical stone wall towards the left of the shrine instead of the shrine itself to get a better skew
Got it first try. Thx

I also did this on master mode... My box broke in the first few seconds.... The boss is very hard to kill with the bomb
Skew lol i cant get the skew i literally fo the steps but i get no skew its all patched has to be

@@rocco_siffredi. what I did was just kept on fidgeting with the skew method until I tilted completely sideways, then you should be good to go
Ok
@@Cosmic2V did you go to the same wall once inside? I'm having trouble clipping with a sideway skew
You are a straight up G for this one
My guy you got me sorted tysm
thank you for your service (also tip to anyone reading this, if you get skew on the right side of the pillars from where you walk in, you’ll have the same angle as Linkus)
Wait what I’m so confused?
Does you have to be facing a specific direction inside the shrine? You can get through any wall in the trial but there’s only one wall to enter the trial with the blue hinox - that’s where i’m having trouble

Cheers!

I appreciate this video man.
Amen brother!
Tell me about it
What about on the WiiU
Michael Hipp Not sure. I forgot they even made BotW for wii u. Can't hurt to try. The glitch is way easier than most would think.
I can never get a good skew and never make it threw he wall and my shield keeps breaking
“Pay attention to where I’m running” I can’t fucking do that if you speed it up 30x lol
The only thing that sucked was getting into the Hinox room consistently with shield clip. The ragdoll glitch sometimes messed up my clip.

If you wiggle the box between his arm and his belly you do a TON of damage fast
Once you have some arrows, just do three steps
Change between bombs and throw them as quick as you can to avoid regeneration (Master mode)
- On the third trial, you can also go around the right sphere instead of going between the two of them.

Anyone else who has a really good skew in the overworld and then a thrash one when you enter the trail
If you’re losing the skew you’re waiting too long to unequip the shield when jumping into the wall
That can't be it.
I can literally not unequip it any faster than i already am.
So that means when doing it wrong ONCE the skew is gone?
Dazai! Idk I did the whole trial on my second play through this way. Skipped the whole thing finished it in 15 minutes.
Btw if anyone wants to make it a tad bit easier.
1. Speed buff before entering trial(makes it faster) or attack buff(clears hinox faster for other steps)
2. Get the weapons at the start before clipping out(to throw it at the Hinox eye)
3. Just get the weapons on the Hinox some how(if he wakes up throw weapons into his eye for stun)
4. Break the metal crate instead of attacking the hinox with it(arrows for the knight bow from hinox)
5. Beat the shit out of him

That part is less difficult once you pick up as many weapons as you can, and save them for those 2 silver Lizafos. The trick is to not knock them back, but if you did, you have to use arrows and bombs to defeat them. Use an ice block or two as a passive shield.

My shield broke while trying to set up my skew again
Thank you so much! I been stuck in Master Mode Beginners Trials for so long that I don’t even feel Bad for beating it while glitching.
A good tip that I found while fking it up is that if while fighting the hinox you place the box in between the stomach and the head you Can hit him in the way up (head) and on the way down (stomach). Which makes it faster to Kill.
Getting through the walls is nigh impossible. He makes it look insanely easy. I've been trying for 3 hours and got nothing. (yes I have good skew) I ended up just doing the trials the intended way for 5 more tries and beat it.
dude same lol
Lol it was pretty easy for me. I have a few tips. First is to make sure u are using the right wall. Second is try to not get hit while you have the skew, or your skew will not be as good. Third is to just make sure you unequip the shield just before you hit the wall, so that your skew activates just while you are hitting the wall. Bonus tip: for the Hinox, hit lightly. If you hit too hard the box will break. He will almost certainly kill you if your box breaks. In the case that it does break, do a flurry rush when he does his clap attack then grab the sword on his necklace, as it have a high damage output.
btw if you go inside the yah rin shrine you can get a scew from the slope on the scale inside the shrine, it's way easier and it gives you a good scew
I got through the wall but I couldn't get outside
I've done it a bunch of times but I keep dying to the hinox...
(tip: you should NOT hear the shield bump sound, as you lose the skew if it makes contact)
Cassiano Barcellos “don’t be overly gentle with the movement” the box broke.
I used this video years ago to accomplish what I couldn't before. To this day, I still owe Linkus everything for showing me how to skip what seemed impossible. Thank you so much, man. 👍

Go into a blessing shrine and jump on the right wall that is near the monk (it is very steep). This will give you a skew that is perfectly "east", meaning you can do the clip almost 100% of the time if you have the timing right
thank you so much bro this was the only way i got it to work

How. Link is not falling to any side.
yeah i couldn’t get it to work either
Okay get it to Work for the First trial. I started with jumping against the shrine. After Link dropped strange on the ground like a ragdoll i had this skew. Afer this Its Important to not land on the shield. If you Do, u reset the skew. Then it worked on the First try inside the trial. But couldnt get it to Work on the second one.
sabotaged skater git gud. I did it no problems
To complete the trials once clipped I did followed his tutorial, in that area he did a really good job!

can you please help me i cant even get the skew
Confirming this still works on the Switch for Master Mode in August 2020. Thanks so much - this was extremely helpful!
TIPS for those struggling:
Thank you! I used the alternate route you mentioned for the final trials, worked like a charm.

Good luck!
Thanks, that works great!

After all the tips about skew, and suggestions on the best spot to get it, the trees inside the very first room gave me the perfect horizontal-link-skew i needed to clip through the wall behind the camp fire. I was so elated i had to and bask in the success of the moment before trying to fight the Hinox
a whole year has passed and I still can't manage to do step 1
Tristana Kazame I am legit soo stuck with trying to get a Skew that works
Pranav Bhagaloo run up a shrine wall until you can’t anymore then do a forward shield jump
I just get a slew of a tree in the trials
Lol same
Use the slopes _inside_ the shrine rather than the shrine itself, the inner slopes will give you skews with perfect strength and angles
For those that are having issues with this as I was. You have to make sure when you're setting the skew that you are facing EXACTLY west. Meaning the "N" on your minimap is at the 90 degree angle. Once I did that, I clipped through the wall my first try.
HOW !!!
Pierre Bakou just follow the video he shows which wall to noclip to
This worked for me first try! Thanks very much man!
Thank you! Your tip gives the best skew. I’m still having issues getting through the wall though.
This was an absolute life saver in the impossible version of the Trial that is Master Mode. Thank you so much for this!
1 Word:
Kaboom
How are you supposed to get the bow and arrow?
@@chuchu2090 collect arrows after dodging them in the trials. kill enemies to get the bow.
Oh yeah apparently also the box will drop arrows if it does break so its like the box is telling u to do that.
that's what i was doing wrong. I've not been facing the right wall. But i do have a question. Is it possible on master mode?
Edit: Nevermind work's on mastermode. Thank god you uploaded this
truekiller yes i’ve done it
(sees "1 week ago") Bullshit! ive been trying all four directions, and then i end up Losing my skew...but i can clip through a wall First Try, in a shrine...just not the Trials...and im On master mode, my Normal Mode i did it the Normal Way...but im stuck with a 30-damage Sword because these walls are double-thick or somethin -_-
rtyuik7 I’m having the same issue I’ve been doing it for about 4 hours on master mode can’t even get into the first hinox.... I did it all within an hour or so on the normal mode :(
Porky Minch hey if you don’t have any advice or help don’t reply :)
This video is still great and easily understandable. I recently decided to start a new game and I forgot how to do the skip. Your video once again helped me do it.
I love that you call the right analogue the c stick. GameCube for life.
it is a c stick
@@Soupcupy if you're using a GameCube controller, yes. Otherwise no.
It is a c stick
@@siwuki5093 No, it's a right analogue stick because he's playing on a controller that isn't a GameCube one.
@@n1nj4l1nk the name c stick isnt exclusive to the gamecube controller. Proof of this is the c-stick on the "new" nintendo 3ds. c stick and right analog stick are interchangeable terms for the stick regardless of whether its gamecube or not
After an hour of trying the final trial and the frustration that came with failing on the last room (with the guardian, riders, and lynel), I decided I’d give this a try.
Did you get the ancient arrows in the final trial?
