Well, think about this: Breath of the Wild was out for six years, and much of the fanbase really seeped into Sidon as the #1 husband in the game. Think of it like being given a puppy by your friend, and then one day, they just take them back and never let you pet them again.

I wonder why Nintendo decided to make the collision in BotW and TotK double-sided? The only thing it does is it requires you to do is clip twice, not hard, just more inconvenient! (It's not like most people know how to execute any out of bounds tricks!)
I suspect that wasn't intentional, but a side-effect of the logic to make almost every surface in the game climbable. The reason I suspect that is because by designing the game to be one where players can climb on literally almost anything, they probably wanted to use game logic that very consistently made sure such surfaces were behaving correctly everywhere they appear.
