Very professional video . As a diy er I have difficulty understanding the backwards part of upside down and backwards . Maybe you could explain please . Marking the flat board on the saw is a really useful tip . Thanks for a super channel .
1. You are the man, and I’ve learned too much to list from you over the years. 2. I’ve used tiny screws in the past to hold mending plates on the back of crown but it takes more time than your staples. the staples you shot to keep the 1/4” ply on the back of crown splices are t50’s?

Maybe I haven't made it this far, but I'm wondering how to cope a bullnose profile, say for a window grid on a door, to tie the bullnose(double ogee oieces) pieces into a quarter(single ogee) profile type side piece... it has to start with an outside miter cut, but other than that the same process?
Sorry, I don't get into that in the Crown Molding program or any other. However, if you watch the baseboard programs, you'll learn all you need to learn about coping.

But the crown isn't upside down. I generally try to follow the manufacturers catalogue, and that Classical Craftsman crown molding, designed by Brent Hull, adheres faithfully to the classical orders. There you go! You learned something else!
@@THISisCarpentry There is no right or wrong regarding orientation. Even in the Classical molding line the plain edge is shown both on wall and on ceiling. Usually the plainer edge is on the wall and Usually the shorter width is on the ceiling . But I ALWAYS ask the designer (if one is involved) or the customer if they are the type that likes to play 'designer'. (in many classical applications the more ornate would have to be at the bottom because it also served as a 'clip' on location for wire hanging pictures (no holes in walls)
You should have many thousands of views. This is absolutely full of valuable information. I could do without the music but it’s not giving me a headache. I’m 60 and been doing this work for 40 years and I’ve learned so much tonight viewing this. A bit too late though but I can teach my son.

I like a double cope twice in a square room for tight joints. Just my preference

So crown molding actually makes some wall errors more obvious. Caulk is your friend up to a point I guess.
