- one of my own all time favs is totally F.A.B.! A 1989 Pierre Cardin I bought new back then at Woolworths for maybe USD 29.99 or so. It still ticks with its Seiko/TMI PC21 calibre after umpteen battery changes and is aged so well, it is more beautiful and especially unique than ever, with its matte nugget-like surface. And the 10 dollar Yukon from around 2000 or so is totally out of this world, with a sort of "Heavy Metal" look, also matte nugget like (WHY don't they make that matte nugget finish anymore?), but with accents and matching bracelet that give it a look any true "Alien" would love and feel elegant with (now where is Ripley??)! Meanwhile my Swiss piece lasted a little over a year and landed in the rubbish barrel! Guess what *I* think of Swiss quality (Citizen also failed me badly and cost me dearly) these days. I should not have to spend thousands to get a watch that lasts a long time. Nowadays, AliExpress rules
Finally! No.6 is on point! I have an average Asian wrist size (6.5inch) and I am wearing my 34mm vintage omega deville just fine. It is all down to personal preference really, as the saying goes "wear what makes you happy" :)
I agree. I have a 7-1/4 inch wrist and my first luxury watch (in 1994) was an Omega DeVille. I was never bothered by the 34mm size and it was one of my top choices for every-day, around town wear for many years. My wife commandeered it last year and now wears it.
You’re spot on! 1: I injured my left wrist deadlifting and for almost a year I used it on my right hand. Going back felt weird! There’s a reason left hand watches exist. 2: wearing bracelets loose _is_ relevant only so much as in it can stretch hollow link bracelets (such as vintage Rolexes). Just what’s comfy! I’ve found that women prefer it looser? I prefer it _on_ my wrist bone. It’s the reason I prefer vintage watches in the summer as it can be worn slightly looser and more comfy than modern solid link bracelets. 3: as for black tie, that has for always been incorrect. For _white_ tie (ie morning dress) then yes, it was deemed inappropriate to not wear a watch, with black tie (ie tuxedos or dinner jackets) it _was_ convention to wear a simple, two hand only watch (no seconds hand), in precious metal and not in a round case. Times have changed and as formal wear has all but gone out of the window, who cares if you do or not or if it’s a sports watch. If Bond can do it, you can! I wore a vintage GMT to the Rolex summer ball attended by the executives of Rolex UK and tbh most people were wearing Daytonas or Day-Dates. Here’s a rule I like to tell people that I think is good: when you start collecting, go from the outside in. Ie: the watch that will work with the most situations (or the most iconic from a brand) and get more and more specific from there. Sure you could have a travel time for flying, but maybe something like a Speedmaster may be more applicable to your life and what you do first.
The size debate annoys the heck out of me! I have a wrist size that can vary from 7.5” to 7.75” depending on the weather and how much extra goodies I’ve been indulging in. I wear watches from 36mm all the way up to 45mm and none looks silly on my wrist. In fact, I’d say the 45mm ones tend to almost look too big!
As for Garmin watches at military functions, it MIGHT be a unit-issued watch (worn to humble brag about a unit they are or were assigned to). I worked at a miliary organization that issued Garmin watches to all its members. We called them the "hockey pucks"--they were like 55 mm across! I wish I still owned it. It was before I paid attention to watches, so I don't remember the exact model.
🤣 while I love the positive outlook! It’s not! 😜💕 like. I know these guys. I know their squadron! They’re just trying to get all their steps in. 😜 but this may be true of some? (Trying so hard to be positive! 🤣💕)
I can't argue with anything you say. I probably wouldn't wear a watch encrusted with diamonds as I think it's too ostentatious for my taste, however, I won't criticize anyone else for wearing one. I was in the USAF in the 1970's and 80's and wore my Seiko 6138 Panda chronograph (a large watch for it's time) to black tie events. I have a 7-1/4 in wrist and my favorite watch is an Omega 36mm Seamaster 300. I have worn it with a suit to weddings, hiking to the top of Nevada's tallest mountains, and everywhere in-between.
Britt, I completely agree that diamonds and precious gems can be cool when done tastefully on a watch dial (maybe on the case too) - watch snobs need to chill out on that topic. Not everything is about future resale!!!
As much as I agree with this, let’s look at it a different way. Without snobbery in the watch world, the watch world would be a fraction of its size. To a large extent, snobbery keeps the watch world alive, thriving, and innovating. Besides, without watch rules, we couldn’t have fun breaking them! 😎⌚️🍸
I had a black tie event and I was wearing my Blackbay 54, it fitted the theme very well, maybe because it looks a little more dressy and slim then most divers, for now I'm still working on build my watch collection since I only recently started, yet I do have a Baltic MR01 as a dress watch and I love it as well.
Am definitely with you Britt, re above or below the wrist bone, they just don't look or feel right below when the crown is pressing into the skin. OK it's more "showy" with a sleeve, but I prefer the more subtle, classy look.
Haha, this was an epic video Britt 😂 And yes, these so called watch rules are made up by snobs 🤪 Wear a watch however you like, right wrist or left wrist…. put it on your big toe for all I care 😄 The world is complicated as it is to even consider these “rules”…. Auntie Britt!! I agree so much. Watch gatekeepers with their rules need to get over themselves. It seems so many people who push these rules are not happy unless they are critical of others. Snobbery is to be mocked and ignored. Long Live the Cult(s)!! and 4:30 date windows.
MY FAVOURITE NEPHEW! 🤣💕 oh BLESS! I think we feel the same about gatekeepers! Every once in a while, I can feel myself gatekeeping … and that’s when it’s time to make a video like this! It’s only watches! 💕 let people wear the watches that bring them JOY! I hope you’re having the most gorgeous long weekend! The sun is…. Actually shining here in the U.K.! I don’t know what to do with myself!
For me, there is only one watch rule: - wear whatever makes you happy. The cheapest watch in my collection by along way is an old Timex Weekender and I’ve just rediscovered my love for it. People love to tell me its flaws - it’s a Timex - it looks cheap - it’s a bit small - it’s quartz - it’s loud. Yes it is all of these things but I love wearing it and it has the added bonus of sticking two fingers up to the watch-snobs.
So glad you showed the VC 1921 American in your case size section. I bought the smaller 36.5mm “ladies” version because the “cushion” case design is very deceiving. It wears closer to a 39mm
I love this video so much. I've always had a smaller physical build due to physical condition. I'm sized out of anything over 40mm (I can barely pull off an Omega SMP300 because of the short lug horns). However, people in my watch group makes fun of me getting smaller sized watches... The community can be such an elitist and toxic masculinity cest pool
My Hot take, 1) Don't care. 2) Don't care 3) Disagree. Men look effeminate with a Gem Set, and it ruins the watch. 4) Agree. 5) Hard Agree. Men don't need a dress watch. 6) Disagree. Men look effeminate with a small watch on wrist.
Great points!! on the sizing aspect - I've got a buddy who loves watches but he is about 5ft tall and 150lbs soaking wet, so he can't wear a 40+mm...he gets discouraged by shopping because of this snobbery aspect. As if a smaller rolex isn't a rolex at all (or insert any brand). i say wear what you want why look like everyone else....oddly enough i wear womens sunglasses sometimes cuz Celine has some sick shades and i've worn bright pink/purple nike running shoes to have some character......be you bro, don't let others that are obviously personally challenged on their own esteem dictate your purchases.
I was coming here to comment this! "Your watch is TOO big!" Sounds like I'm bigger than your friend but I love my 42mm Explorer II and wear it with pride. Wear what makes you happy! Good on you for encouraging your friend to wear what he likes
Like your buddy, I also can't wear 40mm watches abd above so I can understand his struggles. But there are some watches he can check out, like a 38mm SInn 556, 38mm Seiko Alpinist models, 36mm Rolex Day Dates and such. Watches from the 90s and earlier vintage pieces have smaller sizes, so he may wanna have a look at those too.
Britt I really like this video but I’m not sure how you’re using the service when it doesn’t seem to be available in the UK yet! It’s annoying as it sounds really cool. But thanks for the video now I’m really considering getting a tank with 7.75in wrist 😂
Nice video. People should not care about rules! I am left handed so I am wearing my watch on my right wrist. For some reason for watches with a leather or rubber strap I like when it's tight, but for metal bracelet, I like to wear my steel watch a little bit loose, otherwise it's not comfortable, especially in summer time when it's hot. About watch sizes it's a matter of personal taste.
1. I am right-handed, I wear on the right due to family trait from my parents and my grandparents (yes I inherit) 2. I wear almost on my hand because when I was young, every single watch wrist is too big for me, so I can only wear my watch close to my hand 3. I love tool watches LOL
OK your 3. I am trans I don't care what's in the watch as long as it feels like me haha 4. Black tie I wear Promaster Dive Eco-Drive Chronograph with Black Dial 5. I just said that haha 6. also I am trans LOL I don't care whether it's big or small just not satellite dish size or too small for hyperopia people like me to read
We might not all agree which wrist to wear a watch on, but I think that we can all agree that left-handed people are strange and should be shunned, yes?
My posistion with diamonds/gems is it just looks too flashy / gaudy. Then with watch bands that are loose it just looks like a bad fit and personally I find it uncomfortable feeling the watch bounce around on my wrist. These are 2 things that just make a watch look cheaper to me.
9:30 same goes for parfume by the way. wear what you like, you wanna wear Alien by Mugler do it it's a great flowery parfum. And if people are mad because it's not a manly pfarum/watch etc.. they have a whole different level of personal problems.
Even people in the boutiques get hung up on the men’s/ladies size thing. I was in the hublot boutique in London and the guy serving kept telling me the 33mm classic fusion is for women, to the point it was a real efffort to get him to get it out for me!
OOooooooh I'm kinda split on a couple of your points. 'Dont wear a watch with black tie' - I agree with you this is nonsense and I wouldnt dream of NOT wearing one. But 'Dont wear a sports watch with black tie'? Yes, for me. I always wear a dress watch in yellow or rose gold on a black leather strap, simple and understated to go with the dress look. Buts thats just me.
More the Rolex EXP1 since that's what JB and Ian Fleming wore. Anything outside of the novels is bullshit. Even though I know Omega fan boys absolutely hate that JB wore a Rolex but hey facts are facts
How many people actually attend black tie events any more? The last time I wore something that formal, I was in a wedding party. As for watch sizes I totally agree. I have a 7-7/8" (200 cm) wrist and I have watches ranging from 33 mm vintage dress watch to 46 mm big boy. My sweet spot is 38-40mm.
omg the first point! I used to wear wrist watch on my right hand bcos my dominant is right handed. but my mom said who wear watch on the right?? should wear on your left. this was when I was little. since then I always wear on my left. even though I tryna change on my right, it doesn't feel good. strict parents makes me do this 😂 tbh I don't regret
crown guards are less necessary when you wear a watch that has the crown facing your arm instead of hand. I'm thoroughly against the idea of winding or adjusting time with the watch on your wrist. It can cause unnecessary wear on the movement.
i have a 33mm quartz hamilton khaki from the 90s and it's the best watch i ever owned, i find mechanical watches unusable to wear daily and anything above 38mm is way too big, i also wear an apple watch on my other wrist
0:43 I literally can't get over your pen grip. I have never seen anything like it before, and I have seen some bizarre grips during my teacher as a teacher. I must ask, how did you develop your grip?
Great video 😁 the one that hit home with me is smaller watches. I have a 7.5" wrist and love 36mm watches. I refuse to wear anything over 42mm and prefer a 38mm.
On watches at Black Tie: As is often the case with events with dress codes, it helps to have an idea of who is hosting to have a feel for what their expectations are. A great many people will write that (or "formal") on event invites without knowing what it really means, at least in the US. I personally figure that if it's the kind of event that will accept velvet, colored dinner jackets in addition to tuxes, they'd be fine with whatever watch. THAT said, if someone is defaulting to wearing their most expensive watch even if it's a tool watch even if they have a dressier option, I would have questions about their character. On watches with gems: My understanding is that these are popular in Asia and immediately looking down on them is a very Euro and US-Centric perspective, kind of akin to people who immediately look down on Seiko and Grand Seiko because they're not Swiss.
The black tie is probably overused. If the dress code really is black tie strict then you should adhere to the dress code. If that means X then going but XY? Is kinda lame. And in some cases will result in not being allowed entry. Black tie or whatever. Watch papi being in the military I'm sure there are a lot of places Britt isn't allowed to wear pants iso a dress/skirt. I have seen that issue often enough. Same for a man not having a vest or tie. And women wearing watches in black tie is probably a bigger no go than a man wearing a Cartier tank. My wife will never wear a watch with a formal dress. But then again, if it's not a strict event you see women wearing a Garmin forerunner with their dress. I like a classy watch with a dress so it's not for me that my wife refuses it.
Black tie? Either dress, or very restrained sports watch. In Rolex terms, OP, DJ and DD yes, but not Explorer, not Daytona and certainly not Submariner. Those can be worn with a suit, no problem, but with black tie it still does feel inappropriate to me. White tie? Pocket watch or none at all.
I’m with you Britt! Wear whatever you like whenever you like! Watches are meant to be fun! It’s like cars, some just like cars/watches to get from A to B or some like to express themselves, maybe some even show off! Who cares! You do you!
The watch size thing bother me a lot but from the opposite end as I like a lot of larger watches. The constant complaining and criticizing of large watches I think gets a bit much. TH-cam is filled with videos on how small watches are literally better in every way and even having wrist size measurement charts that people should use. There is a pretentiousness in the watch community now around it I hate. As if small, vintage size watches are what “real” enthusiasts should wear and larger watches are labelled as blingy, garish, and the owner is just showing off or compensating. It kind of puts me off my enthusiasm with watches lately. What drew me into the watch world was the passion for all things watches I would see. Big tool watches or G-shocks or small vintage watches and dress watches, a $30 casio or a precious metal rolex. Now there is some strange gatekeeping thing. As if I should hand my watch to someone on my death bed and go “here this was a watch that other people really thought fit me right for the 5 seconds they cared” 🙄
This whole "no watch with black tie" has mever been a thing, at least amoungst those who occasionally don a dinner jacket. Really posh people only have one watch for literally 60 years anyway. Also boomers like a loose watch, thats why Vintage Rolexs bracelets are always fugged. 😂 I want to see James wear a diamond watch to the mess.....😂
The whole sports watch in black tie debacle is strange because sports watches have almost become more common during black tie events than dress watches. I have a friend who thought dress watches were "any watches with a metal bracelet" because he had seen so many Submariners and Seamasters on thr wrists of celebrities at formal events. At the very least braceletes are far more eye catching from afar and that makes them easier to see than dress watches on straps
Right?! I have a friend who has only 1 watch - a TAG Aquaracer. He rarely wears it. He only wears it for nice occasions because it’s so expensive. And he’s so proud of it! And honestly… it looks awesome dressed up! 🤣 I think it’s just sooo snobby and outdated this idea that you “have to wear no watch or a dress watch” …. People need to get a grip 🤣💕
I think why metal bracelets are not allowed in traditional sense is because they are too eye catching, too bold, and distracting. The formal dress codes are in principle should be subdued to honor the host so the host can be the star of the event.
I do agree, that those aren’t good rules to follow. Yet, I feel that there is some truth to the gems, as precious stones for decoration are ironically a cheap way to make something expensive; unlike complications, they don’t do much for the watch itself. But if you have the money and like it… be my guest (or let me be your guest; after all: you’re the one with the money)
Great video Britt and keep up the good work. At the last black tie event that I went to people were wearing all sorts of watches... divers, chronos, smart watches. Seems like no one really cares about such rules anymore. I agree with your sentiment that people should wear what makes them feel good. I just enjoy seeing a nice watch on someone's wrist... any type of watch.
Stupid rules. The only valid rule is: wear the watch that like you and you can pay (or steal, why not? 😁) No children, steal is bad, no steal (except banks, banks are bad)
There is a valid point about loose bracelets - all that rattling can wear out the links prematurely. On a regular Seiko it's no big deal but having a President re-pinned - ouch! But like you say it's the owner's watch
I generally agree that people should wear whatever they like - but I take issue when those very same people try to convince me that their massive dive watch actually looks good with a suit... you can do whatever you want, but it doesn't mean it actually looks good!
Great video, as always. Not a rule but a personal guide. My skin is waaaay too pale to carry off a gold watch. I’d love a Tank Louis but just can’t wear one because it looks odd. To me anyway.
A lot of events have the name "black tie" because it sounds fancy but the dress code at those events rarely comes close. It's the gala type events that use that dress code. Probably white tie that still only uses the strict code. I like how, where I live in western Europe, we are moving away and it's often "business casual" as dress code or "casual chic".
I'm a weirdo with watches... I have big, small, gold, steel, plastic, leather, rubber, titanium, jewels, quartz, solar, high horology, automatic, manual, digital, all sorts. My love, is picking one that suits my day 😊
I agree with all your points apart from no. 5 sports watches shouldn't be worn for black tie especially thick ones . You can wear a dress watch casually but I'm not so sure it works the other way round . Then again what you do is up to you, so I'm not overly bothered.
Agree with basically everything said! Only rule I have don’t buy a watch that is the same size or bigger than your wrist. Then it looks like a toy instead of a luxury item
I never knew the problem that right handed people have with the crown poking into the hand until I tried on a left handed panerai. I will happily continue to wear right handed watches on my right hand so I never have to deal with the crown poke. I also now know why so many right handed people love sprites.
🤣🙈 a majority of weddings are just formal and not black tie! (At least where I live 🙈) I don’t remember the last time I had to wear a full length ball gown to a wedding 😜! Where I’m at, it’s often formal or even cocktail!
I have one rule when buying watches: The lugs should not be longer than the width of my wrist. It makes any size watch look too big.
All I know is the only rules that I care about anything, especially watches, is get what you like, and don't go into debt for your hobby.
AMEN!
I rate that as expert level advice all day.
@@danielgrant9213 thank you.
Awesome advice! I have stuck to Casios (got 7 now!) for this exact reason!

If you don’t wear a watch to black tie, how are Omega going to tease forthcoming Speedmasters?! 😉
...and what about James Bond?! How could he flex without a watch to his black tie?
The only rule we should abide is not hating on other people’s watches.
Well TH-cam is finished if that applies to Rolex, Swatch collaborations, and safe queens 😮
Andrew Morgan will have to get a proper job!

Britt, I completely agree that diamonds and precious gems can be cool when done tastefully on a watch dial (maybe on the case too) - watch snobs need to chill out on that topic. Not everything is about future resale!!!
#1 rule.....never miss a Watch Gringa video
Why is this not pinned 😮
I’m a firm believer that you should wear what you like period. Great content
I just appreciate someone who takes the time to wear any kind of watch, its keeping the industry alive and relevant.
Yes Britt! Let’s get the snobbery out of the watch world 👍🏻
Can we get an amen?! The world and life is complicated enough - wearing watches is meant to bring joy!
As much as I agree with this, let’s look at it a different way. Without snobbery in the watch world, the watch world would be a fraction of its size. You fixed the cabochon on your Tank yuppie! 👏 ❤
Oh snap I wear mine on the left and I'm a lefty😮
Im left handed….Im NOT wearing my watch on my writing hand! Pound Sand ROLEX! 😂
In my opinion, the more sophisticated you get the more you like smaller watches…
I wear several 33-35mm vintage watches.
And I am on the verge of buying the new Nivada Grenchen Antarctic 35mm.
I used to wear bigger watches. Now I prefer sizes closer to 36 mm. (As I have 6,7 inch wrist, they actually look right for me.)
One dimension is imo always overlooked: thickness. A 30 mm diameter will not feel too small if it's 9-10 mm thick. The reverse is also true.
It's impossible to ignore that Britt is very inspired this week!
Whaaaat! Why thank you! This is far too kind!
2:33 Tell that to my 36mm aquis diamond dial 😂 Love it as a summer watch
Am definitely with you Britt, re above or below the wrist bone, they just don't look or feel right below when the crown is pressing into the skin. OK it's more "showy" with a sleeve, but I prefer the more subtle, classy look.
Was that your hand using the middle finger to control the pen at 0:43?
Haha, this was an epic video Britt 😂
And yes, these so called watch rules are made up by snobs 🤪
Wear a watch however you like, right wrist or left wrist…. put it on your big toe for all I care 😄
The world is complicated as it is to even consider these “rules”…. Let’s enjoy watches the way we like it.

New rule: when you are hot looking, wear whatever, whenever, at where-ever and you still look hot.
Thanks for it! Luckily manufactures are kind of moving away from huge sizes.
Skinny wrists like mine don't feel comfy with 42+mm cases
Totally agree with you on all of them
But 6 is exactly on point
I own 36-42mm watches
Love all the different sizes
They all have their place
Mohammed Ali wore a very small Cartier tank.
I honestly find gem-set/diamonds very tacky usually, so when it's done well, it's great.
I love this video so much. I've always had a smaller physical build due to physical condition. Almost no one likes the Planet Ocean with Diamond bezel. But I think it’s cool. Also, I’ve seen vintage men’s watches in 34mm. So it doesn’t matter
My Hot take,
1) Don't care.
2) Don't care
3) Disagree.
Yes....but 'double wristing'...NO :)
Also, a dive watch with black tie just ends up looking like a James Bond cosplay...
1. I am right-handed, I wear on the right due to family trait from my parents and my grandparents (yes I inherit)
2. I wear almost on my hand because when I was young, every single watch wrist is too big for me, so I can only wear my watch close to my hand
3. I love tool watches LOL
OK your 3. I am trans I don't care what's in the watch as long as it feels like me haha
4. Black tie I wear Promaster Dive Eco-Drive Chronograph with Black Dial
5. I just said that haha
6. also I am trans LOL I don't care whether it's big or small just not satellite dish size or too small for hyperopia people like me to read
We might not all agree which wrist to wear a watch on, but I think that we can all agree that left-handed people are strange and should be shunned, yes?
Nothing is true, everything is permitted !!!
Good episode and rule 6 was on point. I’m such a fan of the “ladies” aquanaut luce annual calendar - 5261R 🔥 if only I had the 💸
Even people in the boutiques get hung up on the men’s/ladies size thing. I was in the hublot boutique in London and the guy serving kept telling me the 33mm classic fusion is for women, to the point it was a real efffort to get him to get it out for me!
I've a 31mm vintage Bulova. It wears great.
Buts thats just me.
sausage fingers needs a 41mm + for proportions 😂
The only sport watch allowed to a black tie event is an Omega Seamaster diver 300. -James Bond-
More the Rolex EXP1 since that's what JB and Ian Fleming wore. Anything outside of the novels is bullshit. Even though I know Omega fan boys absolutely hate that JB wore a Rolex but hey facts are facts
Wear what you want how you want with no judgement.
Heck , I’d wear a cheap timex to a black tie affair. 😂
We usually go to around 6 a year.
Exactly, the rule primarily applies to wealthy people.
@@BruceCross 🤣🤣 going to black tie events doesn’t equate to being wealthy (at least now in our case! 🤣)
Rule no.1 immediately disown anyone who hosts black tie events.
Rule no.2 stay from anyone who advocates for oversized watches.
Your “watch size” rule is awesome. Thank you!
omg the first point! I used to wear wrist watch on my right hand bcos my dominant is right handed. but my mom said who wear watch on the right?? should wear on your left. this was when I was little. since then I always wear on my left. even though I tryna change on my right, it doesn't feel good. strict parents makes me do this 😂 tbh I don't regret
im left handed and always wear it on the left, also great cat you have there
Traitor
me too!
Me, too.
crown guards are less necessary when you wear a watch that has the crown facing your arm instead of hand.
0:43
I literally can't get over your pen grip. I have never seen anything like it before, and I have seen some bizarre grips during my teacher as a teacher. I must ask, how did you develop your grip?
I am right handed and wear my watches on the right. Always have, always will. It just feels right for me.
I miss when you would come out tipsy and talk about watches with a bottle of wine or whisky 😄
Me too!!! But the wee baby wouldn’t like it too much. 🥂🥂✨✨✨
Amen sister!
Left handed so I always wear on my right wrist , gets banged up less that way
The whole sports watch in black tie debacle is strange because sports watches have almost become more common during black tie events than dress watches.
I think the James Bond movies helped to make it more acceptable as well.
I have close to a 7 1/2 inch wrist and I’m actually more comfortable wearing a BB58 than the SMP 300 it’s more comfortable and low key.
Stupid rules. The only valid rule is: wear the watch that like you and you can pay (or steal, why not? 😁)
No children, steal is bad, no steal (except banks, banks are bad)
There is a valid point about loose bracelets - all that rattling can wear out the links prematurely. On a regular Seiko it's no big deal but having a President re-pinned - ouch! But like you say it's the owner's watch
I generally agree that people should wear whatever they like - but I take issue when those very same people try to convince me that their massive dive watch actually looks good with a suit... you can do whatever you want, but it doesn't mean it actually looks good!
Is a little known fact that im posh AF, and the no watch with black tie has never been a thing just btw.
Great video, as always. Not a rule but a personal guide. My skin is waaaay too pale to carry off a gold watch. I’d love a Tank Louis but just can’t wear one because it looks odd. To me anyway.
Excellent advice!!!
This is the best singing channel in the watch industry!!! Gotta love low tone Britt!! 🙌🎵🎧🎤
I actually follow Dwight Schrute’s advice when collecting. KISS: Keep it simple, stupid.
Whoa, I never even knew about the rule about not wearing a watch at a black tie event. Shows how young I am and I’m a Gen X’er.
You missed the never wear a leather strap on a dive watch. 😮😊❤
That rule is more of a practical one than style I think. Leather straps just don't last long if they get wet often.
@@MrPleers also a leather strap stays wet and will start to smell over time.
The only rule of watch collecting is that there are no rules of watch collecting
Rules are meant to be broken.
It’s a watch, a luxury item. Do as you please. Just don’t brake the bank. 😎
Agree with basically everything said! Only rule I have don’t buy a watch that is the same size or bigger than your wrist. Then it looks like a toy instead of a luxury item
Somehow all watches slip on my right wrist, so I have to wear them on my left as a right-handed person, lul.
To borrow a phrase from the whiskey community "The best watch is the watch you like to wear, the way you like to wear it"
I’m relying on black tie rules to justify buying a Saxonia someday 😅 #grail
dude, iam lefthanded.. iam a unicorn.. fight me
I never knew the problem that right handed people have with the crown poking into the hand until I tried on a left handed panerai. I will happily continue to wear right handed watches on my right hand so I never have to deal with the crown poke. I also now know why so many right handed people love sprites.
People who wear submariners to black tie events like weddings are just 🤢
🤣🙈 a majority of weddings are just formal and not black tie! (At least where I live 🙈) I don’t remember the last time I had to wear a full length ball gown to a wedding 😜! Where I’m at, it’s often formal or even cocktail!
In fact! I have never been to a black tie wedding! Only formal / cocktail attire!
Is a little known fact that im posh AF, and the no watch with black tie has never been a thing just btw.
In the Royal Navy it is frowned upon to wear a watch at a White Tie event. Black tie ( mess dress / mess undress ) with a watch is never questioned;)
Hmmmm debatable.
@@watchpapi Those are the rules In Dartmouth….other establishments may differ ;)
I kinda like some traditions are held on to.
@@ericb8888 not when I was there! (Which I grant you, was a number of years ago now!)
@@watchpapi Hawke Div ;)
My rules: 1. no buying outside the budget; 2. watch must fit my tiny wrist; 3. must be something I like.
No other rules needes
I just dont get men wearing their watch below the wrist bone and have a scar made by the crown…
I’m right handed and I’ve always worn a watch on my right hand.
Never wear 2 watches! Never! It is ugly. It's silly. Sorry Marc :)
Dang. Britt using facts and logic to destroy watch snobs here. I will now wear a Casio with my suit on Easter!
