Number 1 mistake I made very early on which a lot of watch channels don’t ever talk about is buying your “dream” or “grail” watch too early cause as soon as you get it, the what next phase starts and it literally ruins your whole watch collecting journey.
@dd-dd2co I dunno but having to buy another brand in order to go up a list just to get a Rolex seems more like bribery than normal business. I'm not even sure this business practice is leagal in my country.
I really enjoyed this video. I think all of us watch collectors at some point have these same thoughts. I absolutely love your collection. I don't think you made very many mistakes at all. Maybe a bit too many Tudors. Don't let people tell you any of your watches are too big for your wrist. They all look fine. Wear what makes you happy. Like you said, most people don't notice or care what you're wearing on your wrist. You have a great collection you should be proud of. I love your watch box. I'll definitely be checking this sponsor out.
Many thanks for your support and your kind words, I really appreciate it! And yes, I think if I really need to let go of some watches, the Tudors will definitely be on the chopping board 🫢
Love the lessons learned and I can relate on all of them. Great content and patience reigns supreme when building a collection. I have to tie myself down and hide my wallet after new watches come out. I find that actually waiting a couple of years after new releases is the best time to buy. One question; do you ever consider buying used? You seem to buy all new watches from an AD.
Thanks and I like your advice! I never considered used and always buy from the AD. I do like the AD experience and also like to know that I am the first person wearing the piece. It is not my intention to trade in and out so this is important to me. Plus, I don’t see any reason why I would want to pay over list for a piece that is not straight from the source. With these in mind, I never ventured out to the pre-owned route, but this may well change in the future 😆

This passion makes us do things that are only given deep rational thoughts after the fact. I can’t tell you how many pieces I’ve sold, had sellers remorse, contacted the new owner and bought them back. Nothing feels more silly than paying twice for a watch that you had already. Very wise lessons, I agree with all of your tips. Throughout my hobby, I mostly adhere to your last one: wear/buy what you like. I do inform myself about trends, novelties, etc - but my box is filled with pieces I all truly love. A majority are Japanese, due to my love of the country and of Seiko in particular. There’s a Seiko 5 Chun Li (My Street Fighter main), a Presage SPB167 with a lovely hemp pattern blue dial, an Astron which was recommended in Tokyo at Akihabara by my friends there, and a Pikachu G Shock my girlfriend at the time gave me. Then I have a whole space theme with a quirky Xeric Apollo watch, the frankly hilariously underrated Bulova Lunar Pilot (a high quality quartz reimagining of an original that went to the Moon with Apollo 15, replacing the Omega Speedy of NASA astronaut Dave Scott which actually *failed*!) and - of course - a MoonSwatch. Finally, my two Swiss pieces are an Omega Planet Ocean 42 with an 8500 movement, and a Rado Captain Cook 37mm in white. The first one is my “power” timepiece when I want to channel my inner Daniel Craig, while the Rado is a lovely everyday and summer watch. Thank you for sharing your collection and enjoy them! They’re a wonderful set of timepieces. Cheers!

I sold a few Seikos and have two Turtles that I really like (Tropical Lagoon and the Willard Naomi Uemura). I also traded a Black Bay Bronze for the Black Bay blue bezel 41mm. Traded a Black Bay 41 with the silver dial for a Planet Ocean 43.5mm orange bezel earlier this year. I've definitely made some mistakes too.
I don’t collect. I wear. That’s one nice looking Tudor. I have a personal rule. Never buy more than one watch of the same brand. After 20 years I finally broke my own rule when I purchased a Seiko Presage. 😂
I only over buy vintage watches, otherwise i have one diver (bb58 blue), one GMT (Traska Venturer), and one quartz Titan I use to set the rest of my watches to 🤣. The rest are all vintage Seikos that I baby, re-furbished and eventually will sell. Lord Marvel, Lord Matic, King Seiko, and Grand Seiko. The next watch will eventually replace my Traska GMT, but TBH I won't ever get rid of that watch because it's by far the best watch I've ever owned. The Rolex Explorer II (white dial is coming to my collection in August)
Great video - I think having the blue and black BB58 is great idea - I have the black one and love it but the blue looks awesome! Smart move having both !!
Oh yes the Bosphorus watch box is really classy! This particular version doesn't come with compartments but I believe Bosphorus offers a different version of this box which comes with extra space for accessories. I use my Moonwatch box to store my straps at the moment 😉
The only "mistake" I know from my young collection is not starting earlier or even later. Cause I could have got a variation of my watch that did not existed at that time
Looks like you get stung by FOMO a lot. That sub looks too big for your wrist. A Ginault Ocean Rover would be a better fit. You have both the Submariner and Submariner Date? Probably best to offload both. Also offload the Omega Speedmaster (also too big) and the Black Bay Bronze (also too big). Keep both Black Bay 58's as they are a better fit for your wrist, but you'll probably be annoyed when they re-release them next year with an improved crown, METAS certification, and most importantly a T-Fit clasp.
Along with buying too fast I would add buying too many as a mistake. Unless you have a social media channel I think going over 5 - 7 is a mistake. Better to keep improving in quality rather than adding watches. Although I would also say there is nothing wrong with a watch you never wear if it still brings you joy.
New viewer, here. Very good video. I’ve made some of those mistakes. I really like the BB58 blue but I already have a BB Heritage burgundy. Have told myself maybe I’ll let go of the burgundy but it was my first “luxury” watch so I would have to be emotionally ready if I make that decision. Maybe I’ll wait and see if a blue Pelagos 39 is released which would make it a bit different from my Heritage. Cheers.
Thanks for the kind words! Sounds like you made the right decision to hold back, unless you are still thinking of the BlueBay58 every day now 😇 I wonder what Tudor will bring us next year, a blue P39 would be a welcomed addition to their line up for sure!
Nice video! 40 mm maxi case is to big for you. 36 DJ is perfect for your wrist. You need a Vintage Rolex in your collection and the older model 40 mm case size more comfortable and would fit good on your wrist!
Thanks for the constructive feedback! I always wanted to try the vintage GMT but couldn't get pass the older bracelet now that I have experienced the modern solid bracelet... maybe one day ...
I totally agree with going vintage. You have a fantastic collection of new watches. I like the idea of a watches previous good times. Great video, KC. Buy what you like, who cares what other people think. Also, think of the money you will save if your wife is not into watches. Unfortunately, both my husband and I have the watch illness. 😂😂😂
What a beautiful watch box. When you first start I can’t see what brand the watches are really and being this is the first time I’ve seem your channel I thought it was maybe a mix of San Martin and Seiko based on looks. Just shows how much watches are status symbols that make little sense. My opinion obviously. Not implying thats why you have these premium brands as there are many reasons beyond prestige and status, it’s just an observation.
A very fair point. However, I don't see watches as a status symbol, otherwise, I could just have one expensive piece and be done with the journey. I like to experience different models but my wallet strongly disagrees! 🤣
Thank you for sharing it with us. Could you make a video showing your watch collection, I own a couple of Tudors and a Submariner we have similar taste hehe

Interesting musings , I have similar issues with my Ali Express purchases , the difference being I can maybe buy a tyre rather than a car with the cost of one . Thanks for that. Love the box , I think we are operating on different levels 😂.
So the Speedy is to big, then you go on to show every 42mm diver under the sun. Look at the watch 3 feet away on wrist in a mirror, camera lens distort.
Glad I stumbled across your video. Good tips for someone looking to build collection, like me!, I am in market to buy Omega and AD is offering a discount but online discount with eBay etc is better. Any suggestion which way to consider?
First of all, welcome to this rabbit hole, I'm glad you are thinking of building a watch collection! For someone who is relatively new to this hobby, I'd suggest going for the AD route if budget permits as the experiece of buying a luxury watch is almost as important as the watch itself, at least to me personally. So if the price differiental is not huge and is acceptable, I would buy it from an AD. Also, you never have to worry about authenticity when you buy from an AD, but the same cannot be said for buying from non-AD sources, which is proabbly not ideal for a 'beginner'. I hope this helps and good luck with your watch collecting journey!

All beautiful watches but they should all speak to you as well. I have different watches all at different prices that I love because they tell a story. First one when my dad passed then my watch from my first business deal. They’re all different.
Thank you, and yes, it is always nice to be able to link a watch purchase to a special event/moment. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, I'm sure he is in a good place now.

Thanks for the suggestion, Fabian! You have a solid collection by the sound of it, nice one! I have considered making a SOTC video but thought my pieces are too generic so it didn't make pass the idea stage 🫢
@@KCTimeShare I literally watched all your videos. And let me tell you something my collection might no be the best same as yours but we are your followers, I can speak for them and tell you we will more than pleased to a video like that
Thanks for your kind feedback! I will give it serious consideration in 2024 🫡
Interesting musings , I have similar issues with my Ali Express purchases , the difference being I can maybe buy a tyre rather than a car with the cost of one . Thanks for that. Love the box , I think we are operating on different levels 😂.
I'm glad you have enjoyed my little video 🤣
So the Speedy is to big, then you go on to show every 42mm diver under the sun. Look at the watch 3 feet away on wrist in a mirror, camera lens distort.
Good advice 👊🏼
@@KCTimeShare - thanks! I got a SD43 at a retail. Your videos are helpful
whats the color of this case ?
light tan patina ?
honey patina ?
java patina ?
It is called 'PARCHMENT PATINA JAVA' - link to the product here if you want to check it out: www.bosphorusleather.com/products/petra-watch-case-for-eight-watches-parchment-patina-java
Excellent content.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Good points.
Thank you!
My deam is the 10 watch Rapport Heritage Macassar box. Never see enough videos online about boxes.
I like the Louis Vuitton 8 watch box but the price is a lot and the cushions are too small
What is your wrist size out of interest?
@@KCTimeShare im a 7 and a half inch wrist
@@auricgoldfinger8249 Got it, thanks!
Much appreciated for sharing. How I wish 1 day i could own anyone of those watches. For now, even that watch box could set me back months/years (sry, 3rd world problems😂)
I'm broke AF, I wear my casio proud. N I would wear that sub till kingdom come tho😅
Being a responsible spender is the key. There are great watches in any price point, and Casio is king in its range. Solid choice my friend!
Very human replies-you are a little harsh on yourself. This can be an unforgiving hobby, but you have done very well. Thank you
Thank you for being so supportive, it is very much appreciated 🙏🏼
All beautiful watches but they should all speak to you as well. I have different watches all at different prices that I love because they tell a story. First one when my dad passed then my watch from my first business deal. They’re all different.
Thank you, and yes, it is always nice to be able to link a watch purchase to a special event/moment. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, I'm sure he is in a good place now.
The first 2 watches (BB58, moon watch) I have had in the collection twice over my 5 years. All 4 are gone.
That is such a shame. At least you got to enjoy them, twice!
lost more money on both enough to buy a new Black Bay 58 and then some probably.@@KCTimeShare
i can relate with you the other half mistake haha
Welcome to the party! 😂
114060, solid piece! My mistake, dumping thousands on fixing my vintage pieces
Ouch that hurts! At least you get to enjoy your vintage pieces though 😁
@@KCTimeShare I’ve spent thousands on watches vintage Tissot and Omegas from the 30s because they belonged to my Dad and a grand on my mom’s wee lil Longines, but memories are gonna cost 😂
Did we have the same parents??? I refurbished all three of those brands!!!!
Wow.....that many Tudors😅, the power of false n forced marketing. It actually works.
I am a big fan of Tudor, and I probably own too many! 🥹
100 likes from me . I love you man you made me feel so much better .. so many similar mistakes and especially when comes to the gifts for the wife .. bought her two Rolex to please her and both are in the closet .. I believe this is just a form of ocd…
What made you buy the wife a SECOND Rolex?
@@eyeheartsushi2212 I was offered out of the blue retail price from the AD a datejust so I couldn’t say no. Still in box unworn…
I hear you. We both need to learn from our mistakes so it seems 😆
@@KCTimeShare you know this game is partly ocd… what to do 😆
@dinamiena6186 Why didn’t you wear it? What size is it and what bracelet and bezel configuration?
Well said about the spouse :)
Thank you!
Every one of those watches looks comically huge on your wrist. The Explorer is the only one that is well proportioned for your wrist. The others just look ridiculous.
Thanks for the comment. Now, let me go back to my own video and listen to the 8th mistake again 🙃
Lol. In my view the best watches aesthetically on your wrist would be 1. the two tone (best) 2. the blue tudor and 3. the Submariner.
Thank you for your feedback, I do appropriate it, but my mistake no.8 in this video still stands 🤣
@@KCTimeShare 😂
$1200 watch box? Nope. Nice collection though.
It is a very nice watch case though!
How can anyone who owns an Omega speedmaster want to buy a Moonswatch?
Owning both is not mutually exclusive to be honest…
Mistakes: collecting "others" watches, a rolex centric collection.
I guess that's the difference between a specialist and a generalist, I wonder which side of the fence are you on 💬
But at the Time the Bronze bb58 was Indeed Rare. I Would only consider it a mistake in you dont enjoy the Watch.
Thanks for making me feel better. But yes, I did enjoy the BronzeBay58, in fact, I still am. I just wish it can get more wrist time~
@@KCTimeShare yeah i know that feel. But i still try to give it the time It deserves. But it competes with my 54, My 1926 and my prx
I introduced my wife to Rolex for her birthday and now she wants another one. We are collecting watches together it’s fun
That’s the best! 👏🏼
I think you should daily that Challenge
What challenge?! @@
@@KCTimeShare Sea Dweller Challenge 😆💪
You should sell that Omega Moonwatch. It is too big as you said.
Thanks for the advice!
The sub looks huge on your wrist , people are right
But I love it 🤗
@KCTimeShare wear it with pride then! You do you, but 38mm to a max of 40mm is likely your "ideal" perfect size.
@@SavageKillaBees Oh yes I don’t disagree with you, I have the DJ36 and 36mm Explorer, they fit my wrist size much better but I do like wearing a bigger piece from time to time 😎
A couple of Rolex fell in my lap and I realized that I couldn’t comfortably afford it & done it anyway.
I guess you will still be better off if you ended up selling the pieces, so it is okay? 😇
Many beautiful mistakes!!😅
😂😂😂
It seems like you are collecting mistakes more than you are collecting watches. ;)
Oh yes at this rate, totally! 😂
6:19 😂 Sry, but that is a life lesson...
Oh yes, I learnt it the hard way! 😂
How big is your wrist?
Hi there~ it is roughly 6"
What's your wrist size?
More or less 6” I’d say.
@@KCTimeShare That deep-sea challenge looked comical on your wrist. Enjoyed the video 🍻
@Alex_Fung Thanks Alex!
Sounds like that's an entire box of regrets
That's the whole point of the video lol
What job allows you to support this habit?
Whatever it is, TH-cam is not it, at least not for the size of my channel 😆🤣
Mistake 1 is the plastic watch!
Many people will agree with you, but I do like to have a quartz plastic watch which is always ready to go.
@@KCTimeShare so many much nicer options in quartz in metal cases.
Oh yes, that, I don’t disagree 🤣
You have way too much money 😜
On a serious note, the most important thing is to learn from mistakes.
Oh 100%! Making Mistakes are fine as long as we don’t make the same mistake twice!
I really can't comprehend how people can afford to buy so many expensive watches. What kind of jobs do they have?
Whatever the job is, being a small TH-camr doesn't cut it 😆
i made no mistakes as i bought reps lol.
You don’t say! 🤣
10:30 dude is just justifying getting his wife a casio 😂
Gosh, you made me rewatch my video just now! I'm pretty sure a Rolex watch is more expensive than a Disney trip 🤣
You need to wear
I don't disagree with you tbh!
So your collection consists of mistakes ?
🫣
The product is the buyer not the watch
I presume you mean “problem”, not “product”? I agree with you tbh lol
