I'm a bit of a Rolex fanboy and never really considered owning a Cartier watch. A couple of weeks ago my wife gave me the medium size Santos de Cartier for my birthday after seeing it in your November video (she's a HUGE fan of yours!). I must say that the Santos was a pleasant surprise and I love it for all the reasons you mention with the added bonus that it was a gift from my gorgeous wife and therefore......absolutely priceless!
I own them both and I give the edge to the Santos. It’s far more versatile than people think, people calling it a dress watch likely have never tried it on/owned it. Since Cartier upgraded the WR to 100m in 2018, it’s an excellent daily watch. The finer details on the Santos are superior to the Rolex, imo. Nobody outside of the watch community knows what it is so you won’t be getting any attention (good thing). The tech in the Santos bracelet is simply a bonus. The ease of resizing or swapping bracelets is ingenious.
Largely agree, but people outside of the watch community definitely recognize a watch that says Cartier on the dial. It's a very household luxury brand.
I love, love, LOVE my Cartier Santos medium. Although I own a bunch of high-end pieces from the likes of Rolex, Omega, JLC….even Patek, AP, and ALS, I wear my Santos more than any other watch I own. It’s just that good!!!!
I am so obsessed with you and your channel. I come over from handbag TH-cam but have been moseying on over to jewelry/watches within Cartier and I came across your videos. You make it so easy to understand specifications in watches to someone who literally knows nothing LOL. You really come across so funny and genuine, and it’s such a pleasure to watch your videos!! Off to watch any and all videos you have regarding Cartier watches haha, I am obsessed with the santos de Cartier.
The four Gringa criteria for a great watch: history (heritage), fashion (aesthetics), engineering (and innovation), and design. In my humble opinion, the Cartier wins at least 3 out of four. Thanks, Brittany, great video🙂👍.
It's a pretty good idea. The two watches are definitely similar in terms of specs, toughness, etc. but I think the two watches are looking in different directions. The OP feels like a very nice version of a no-frills, working man's watch (and at one point years ago was priced like it) while the Santos has always been about exuding the sense of luxury that a Cartier should.
FYI the Santos grey and black dials are fully lumed. Totally agree. Great vid. I have a Santos grey dial and I’m SRSLY considering getting a white dial in medium this year too 😳 I have the factory black rubber and grey alligator strap plus the metal bracelet. It’s three completely different watches. The OP can’t compete with that. Add in that the Cartier was the first actual mens wristwatch, the first pilots watch, 110+ year heritage, etc. Last thing, Cartier as a brand and Cartier SA’s treat you amazingly well.
I love love love my Santos!!!! Same as yours, but larger model. Bought it and then a week later (after 6 months from my query) I got a call from Rolex AD saying they had an Air-King for me to buy. Said no thanks. The Santos can do almost everything. And two straps as well. Plus 8 years warranty and got it same day from another AD. The straps are amazing quality.
I made the mistake of looking into Cartier...which has never been of interest to me. Oh crap! Now I have a Santos in my watch list. I love everything about it but for two issues...the polished bezel is a scratch magnet and none of the screws line up...both, I think I can ignore because everything else with the Santos is freaking amazing!!! If I get...strike that...when I get a Santos, I might pick up a spare bezel that I can brush to match the rest of the watch. That way, I could go polished or brushed. I'm a convert and didn't realize it was even happening...its like Cartier is a cult. You don't realize you're sucked in until it's too late! You are right...the OP is a typical watch design. Nothing too special. The Santos has clear design language. A lot of innovation. For me it's like a Panerai, where design language is critical and easily recognizable. For me, the Santos crushes the OP hands down. Does the fact that I've seen the Cartier light mean I'm upping my watch game?
Born in the industrial revolution, before the Rolex. Its cues of industrial screws the fabric that holds the world together. The curve the pure design. Also something that many don’t talk about it screams romance. The romance of flying, the risktaking of new adventures. Like an old movie it shares a history. The Santos is timeless. You have to have one on your wrist to experience it in 1988. I work for Cartier and I got the privilege of trying on the 18 karat gold Santos and although I could never afford that at the time it was heavenly. Many couples also pair it with a love bracelet. Another fabulous design with screws.
Great video, I was looking at a santos dumont for my daughter as you can’t buy the OP. The only thing putting me off is it’s a quartz but I know my daughter and I think it will suit her best as she won’t have to set it if she doesn’t wear it. As I’m writing this I’ve convinced myself this is the route I’m going down. Thanks for the video
Fully agree Brittany! I have op39 white and Santos medium… and santos adds some classy look, comfort and the versatility of the different straps that cannot be found with the op. Said that, if I get my board in the sea, play golf or do some gardening… my op seems indestructible for me and it’s my go to watch (also the BB58)
Recently i have considered taking a profit on my Rolex and buying one of these.... essentially for free. There is something super appealing about the Santos. Got an appointment at the Cartier dealer on Saturday to see in person for the first time.
I like how you make sure the second hands are in sync with the filming of the side by side shot. The quality of your video has been improving. Good job!
WhaaAt! Thank you! 😭❤️❤️ I have been trying really hard to master those little details!l and improve! Trying to get a little better with every video. ❤️
The Santos just stands out among most watches, very unique, incredible finishing and very good value when compared to a Rolex as you get the integrated bracelet with quick change strap and links. Then you get a choice of leather strap to go with that and incredibly the two tone in Japan costs pretty much equal to the explorer as there's a slim chance of being able to get an explorer at retail price. I want to get an explorer at retail price but it's not easy to get and I really don't think it's worth paying more for such a plain looking watch, don't get me wrong, I WANT to buy an explorer but it doesn't offer the same value as the Santos.
I don't see the allure of the explorer or the OP, the most boring watches in the Rolex collection. I own a DJ41 and a ceramic Submariner and both are amazing. But at The Santo's price point it simply unbeatable.
GAH GAH GAH!!!!!! Loved it! You know what ! After seeing this often on your shows it made me look into it more!!!!!! First true sports watch!!!! I’d like one now!;)
Agreed, if given the choice between an OP and my Santos large opaline white dial. It's the Santos all day. I do prefer the screw down crown on almost all Rolex models, which is something the Santos at this price point should have if it's intended to be a 100 meter watch. My ceramic bezel Submariner holds up to daily wear so much better than the Santos. Tha main downside to the Santos besides not having a screw down crown, is its extremely scratch prone bezel. The Santo's ability to quickly switch to alligator black strap and classic white dial makes it a much more versatile dress than my 41mm Azzurro blue DJ. The mere fact that the Santos is in the conversation with pricier Rolex models does without a doubt demonstrate the exceptional value the Santos affords. Buying a used Cartier is an even greater value. Which is not the case for sought-after Rolex Models. The Santos has earned a coveted spot in my watch rotation. Enjoy wearing which ever makes you feel happy, and enjoy them in in good health.
I still think the medium looks great on your wrist. My next watch will either be this or the Grand Seiko Four Season Spring. Leaning toward the latter. The dial is just so amazing on the GS. Plus I already have the Santos Dumont No. 14 bis. Scratches the Cartier itch.
Yeah, the Santos may cost more but at least you can buy one. I'm glad i scratched my Rolex itch a while ago, today I would not consider buying one with the hype and inflated prices. Good video, thanks!
I sold the watch after having it for a several years and always regret it afterwards . back than they weren’t expensive in the used market, so I didn’t get much for it . But it was a tad too small for me , I just saw the large sized In SS with silver dial. It was very beautiful but my family didn’t like it . Oh well. I am a Rolex freak so I would buy a Rolex before buying santos . But the Cartier santos has been back of my head . They got the sizes prefect now . I use to see Cartier watches on Korean airline lady Stewardess , it just looked beautiful and classy on them. It just matched their looks , Awesome watch Brittany !!
I picked up both a santos and a new explorer in 2021, and here are my thoughts. They are both incredible watches and I have no plans to sell either. However, if I had to sell one right now, I would probably sell the Rolex. The santos just feels more special, and is truly stunning. However if I had to sell ALL of my watches except one, the Rolex would probably be the one that sticks around
Love the Cartier Santos.... The blue one just speaks to me.... price aside, it looks better than the OP, or even comparing with other rolex models.... great bracelet feature where rolex doesn't have except the Micro adjustment. Definitely more bang for the buck.
Nobody wants a watch you don’t have to debase yourself to purchase. If Cartier would just be more French and arrogant about it, I’d want one. Then again, I must be the only guy who bought their Calibre de Diver Blue. Enjoying your channel.
I dont think you've tried buying a santos recently.. but they're not as available as they used to be. but spot on with the comparison and ultimate decision
Great comparison gringa. I narrowed my choices down to a zenith el primero, a aqua terra bejing Winter Olympics edition and a santos. Santos won. I’ve had it for a week now and it’s so beautiful but simple. Keep up the good work.
Quick update. Santos is gone a while ago now. For all the technical advances in the bracelet there’s no adjustment or half links. I just couldn’t get the right fit. Loved the watch but no point keeping it if it’s uncomfortable
@@rodtaylor3190 Rolex has great branding but it has nothing to do with real luxury watchmaking. If i‘m really powerful i don’t need to show it with my watch.
"...you can't get it!" says it all. I like them both, and one day (who knows) perhaps I will have them both. They share a whittled down, no nonsense, wrist appeal. My medium Santos stands up across the room; unless you happen to have the eyes of a Venezuelan fruit bat the Rolex has too many similar and competitive 'black-dial' derivatives. A significant plus for the Santos de Cartier is the instantly interchangeable strap....mine is navy blue and transforms the look and the feel to something altogether more sophisticated.......which would I wear if I owned both? The one I can buy.
Just bought the Santos Large in two tone the AD gave me a blue band to switch out for free along with the free extra band it comes with plus I just ordered the black rubber strap too. I’m obsessed!!!! When I wear it I must look at it at least 25 times a day. Definitely a substitute for the OP you can wear it with a bathing suit or change the strap and wear it to a Black Tie wedding. Best timepiece ever.
RIGHT?!?! You nailed it with this comment! And that’s so brilliant you got a blue band too!!! 😱😱 it’s just so dang versatile isn’t it?! I freaking love the Santos!
I’m new to the hobby and not once did I ever look at the OP. The watch that got me into watches is the Tag Heuer Carrera 60th Anniversary, but I went with the Santos in large with the white dial as my first serious watch. This might be attributed to the fact that I’m a newbie, but the design language of the Rolex never truly spoke to me. Except for like the sub or the daytona.
Nice vlog great watches apart from OP being between £16,000 and £40,000 on the grey market now I think we have to go with the Cartier. Enjoy PS happy Sunday 🙏
Good morning guys! I have a Date Just II 41mm and a Santos 41mm blue dial. I love them both! Typically you can get 20% off at an AD for the Cartier. How do I send pictures of them?
Good morning good morning! Now this is how its done. just get both! 😂👏🏻 I’m the same! I love my OP! But I still want a Santos! I feel like they’re different enough to have both!!! ❤️❤️❤️
The Santos is such a beautiful watch. I feel like it would be a watch I would wear at the office & when dressed up…but not when I’m hiking & camping. That Rolex looks like it would be appropriate for everything!
Also, I thought the Santos has additional resistance to magnetism, more than the Milgauss. Cartier doesn't advertise this which I think is a shame, might get a bit more of the geek market.
It DOES!!! I said this in my first Santos video! But decided not to say it again, because I can’t find any official info on this. So I thought it might be best not to say again until I am sure ! 🙈
Shout out for the Canada cup!! Love the Santos but I think it is a completely different look then the Oyster Perpetual. Not sure I would wear it as an every day. Since you can't get an OP, I would jump to an Omega Aqua Terra to fill that every day void.
Gringa (of Gringaland). Lets talk about changing the date, or as you could call it breaking your watch. The El Primero "time/date" architecture is brilliant. On the first click you change the time, job done, the watch is not broken, only at the second click you change the date, when you can break your watch!! Omega is "date/time" architecture is fairly good, because at click one you change the time at one hour intervals, or at the second click you change time in an analogue fashion. Have you an opinion for a video?
Tudor 1926 is a good option that kinda sits between the two design wise, maintains 100m wr and screw down crown, lots of size and color options, amazing bracelet, and a fraction of the price. Sure it's a 'bargain' tudor, but I have the opaline (white) in 36mm and cherish it.
OUUUUUUU. YES. TOP TIER COMPARISON!!! I’m afraid I’ve done too many Rolex Vs Tudor videos and people would begin to unfollow if I did a video on this. 😜😂 but I think you are so right!
That’s the watch I ended up buying: 36mm white with blue hands. I tried to buy it in November,: walked into a WoS & they said it would be 6 months wait & I left my details, heard nothing from them yet after Christmas it was available to buy on their website 🤷♂️
Great video, as always! Your accent confuses me. Mine is an interesting mix too (I get "Are you Canadian? Irish? Scottish?!") because I've moved countries a few times; how has yours evolved?
Definitely. But, my Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000 is my Santos killer. Set it, forget it. Water resistance 200M. Can double as a self defense weapon and still keep on ticking. (good thing nobody will want to steal it anyway) :-P . Thanks for the thoughts, it did make me smile in agreement.
Coincedence to come on this channel, while i read monochrome. So much to say about the Santos, it is an iconic watch. I confess that i am no fan of the Dumont crown, but i like the simple screw form crown. I never tried a squared watch, and the opportunity to change a strap without a spring bar tool is interesting. Typical modern times sport steel watches have quick release and i want to try it. One day a bracelet, the other day leather, and in the weekends rubber.
Agree with you fully. I love the OP but with Rolex turning against its own real fans (or even newbies) by allowing the grey market to lead it by its nose, it has really become uncool. The fact that the grey market is selling it at 400% above value has made a classy Rolex look so vulgar now, like how the nouveau rich would pay anything just to grab an entry level watch, which simply is a turn off. On the other hand, Cartier maintains its class and prestige, walk into any AD or its boutique, you can still get a timeless Santos and have a very positive and pleasant purchasing process. OP is already dead in my eyes. Even when Rolex suddenly announces they have unlimited stock I won’t even bother getting one because I associate it with scalpers and vulgar street transactions.
I 100% agree Gringa, but then I'm not a fan of Rolex. I tried on the Santos in late November when after ordering the Tudor BB Pepsi GMT, was walking back to my car and passed a Cartier store, so had to go in. I tried on the large Santos and it fit better on my wrist than any watch I have ever tried on before. Instantly went to the top of my wish list. When bonus time comes in February, I'm buying it!!!
RIGHT?! I feel exactly the same!! I tried on the small Cartier Dumont. And it was just perfection. I have not been able to get the Santos off the mind since! 🙈
Brilliant video 👏😁. If the Santos is an OP killer, does that mean that Papi no longer needs the coral red OP? 🤔😂 I can hear @Watch Papi saying that is fighting talk where I come from 😂
Hi! Nice video. I think WSSA0029 (Steel Santos de Cartier medium size) is getting more and more popularity and will be the next impossible watch to get. I'm just speculating, but these are my thoughts for this watch. Maybe Cartier will do the same as Rolex, so only some models will be available to buy. Buy one while you can!
Hello, would like your opinion here. Thinking between Cartier Santos Medium Steel and Rolex Sub No Date Steel. Which one would be a good watch for a “one watch collection”. Thank You
Rolex Sub no date is probably the more all round “safer” choice but more expensive and more recognizable. The sub also seems more robust and less scratch prone though the Santos is tough enough. I’ve been asking myself the same question. I probably wouldn’t ever take the bracelet off the sub. Value retention wise the sub. If you would like to fly more under the radar the Santos although that bezel does shine/reflect light. Also the sub is chunkier. Probably a better comparison would be the OP (as in the video) or the Explorer I 36 mm.
@@linushyden7634 yeah. Is the 7k extra for the rolex sub no date worth it or is the santos good already. Santos i can do everything i need it since it has 10 bar water resistance and the bezel according to a cartier form can be replaced. Ive been wearing an apple watch for the longest time and like the square shape watch. something about the santos just calls my name, classy, tough, durable. one watch for any occasion and can be worn with different outfits. But with the sub and the brand rolex i just dont think i can pass that up.
@@bobmemer9062 can’t argue with that. If you are going to get the submariner no date anyway you might as well get it now and then see later if you still want the Santos. I am very lucky in that I have both, it took some effort in saving up (I started with the sub and consequently got the previous reference number). The Santos is much more elegant, more nimble. And less recognizable to the non watch enthusiasts. I think they will both age well as they are icons.
I have to buy a new watch, currently debating between these 2. Looks wise I love the Santos, it looks stunning. But then there is that rolex factor, I don’t have a watch from either of these brands. Kinda difficult to decide which one I should add to my collection right now. Cartier santos looks epic and cartier is a great brand, but in the watch world, rolex is rolex…
In interesting video Gringa. I really like the Santos (medium) and this has been on my list for quite some time. I was at an AD (not Cartier or Rolex) where one of the sales staff had a Santos (large) that looked incredible. You could not mistake it for anything else. You could argue that it's more bling in appearance compared to the OP and that for my pea size brain using both active brain cells that occasionally (actually quite rare) fire a neuron tells me they are too different to be compared. The Santos is definitely more dressy and stands out where the OP is more versatile. The OP can fly under most radars looking more like a regular watch. I would love to have both.
Spot on. Idk how Cartier is not more popular. Must have something to do with the jewelers aspect of the brand. The santos vs OP reminds me of the aquaterra vs DJ argument only instead of movement specs the santos wins in design.
I totally agree with this sentiment. I think the Cartier has more character than the Rolex. Ultimately I think this will be an emotional decision rather than any kind of comparison of price or specs or anything. If one style does it for you, you’re going to go that way I think. Both watches do sit in that same kinda area you describe, to my mind.
Cartier and Rolex shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Cartier's historical watch designs are timeless. The masses are only just realizing it.
@tomp123 A Rolex Submariner and a Santos are a better choice if you can only afford a 2 watch collection. The OP is the most underwhelming watch in the entire Rolex collection.
Cartier Santos so much value for the money. Get one now if you like it prices will definitely go up once people appreciate the value. You have history, asthetics, value and great technology.
This watch is so sexy and the history behind it is so amazing. This is very subtle and elegant. Much better than the over priced OP. Even at msrp I will pick this one over OP
You right. Santos has the juice. Rolex plays it really safe but that also means only some of their designs feel truly unique and exclusive to the brand. Don't get me wrong, I like simplicity but Santos got the juice, bro.
You’re back!!! Hey have you seen the new Brew Metric line of watches?? I got mine with the blue face yesterday. They sold out in minutes. My first semi expensive watch! ($400ish) cheers to you and Papi! 🍻
big fan of this watch too. I can't figure out between the steel and two tone HELP! I love the two tone, but wonder if it would look too dressy all the time. Then the all steel looks too monotone to me, but probably better all around-any event watch. Do you think the two tone is a great all around wear? Thanks
I own three OP39 and bought the Santos Medium 10 days ago. I’m with you 99% except the way it would be the OP killer is a difficult thing to say. Many (men) won’t go near a Santos because they’re not comfortable with their masculinity and have to have the Rolex traditional look. I don’t think a watch can be a killer of another unless they look similar and has enough of the same audience. As for me, it’s more exciting to wear. With the link system I had to choose too tight or a bit loose which I hate to do. The Santos is the only watch I still love when it slips a bit. It looks cool hanging so slightly, giving it that ‘laid back vibe’ and wrist presence is off the charts (although no one has said anything about it 😂). One of my most exciting purchases! Still love my OPs though even if they are more boring.
Ahhh it is so fair! And I think you said it perfectly! There is a whole different vibe to the Santos, and I guess it doesn’t have the same mass appeal through… it’s…. Hmmmmm how to say it nicely…. Generic-ness. But I think yoi absolutely nailed it. ❤️
Another interesting vid, Gringa Girl. OK I am NOT a Rolex fanboy, too safe and generic for my taste and worth nothing like the secondary market price. Santos by miles here - interesting, distinctive, charming. Close to pulling the trigger on one. The scratch-magnet bezel though...that said, the same is said of my 44GS-cased GS and so far not a mark on it. Yesterday however I had my hands on a Glashutte Original Sixties time-only that can be had for the same money as the Santos. Not as versatile perhaps but OMG it had me weak at the knees with how stunning it is in the metal. Quite the choice! Try to get your hands on one Brittany.
Gringa (of Gringaland). From the video shots that appear in your discussion piece, it would seem you now OWN a Santos (and watch Papi has lost it forever).🤣
Great comparison. Thank you. Do you think a Rolex OP would be a suitable 18th birthday gift for my niece (in lieu of the Santos, which I think is too dainty)? Cheers -
Britt,…fast forward to 2023/2024 and taking into consideration the Santos de Cartier Large Grey with ADLC bezel. I think that this model takes the Santos well past the OP. First, the ADLC bezel addresses the “scratch magnet” knock on the Santos. Second, there is luminance on the dial/hands. Third, the watch comes with a black rubber strap that can be easily changed our using the quick switch system. It’s like you get two watches for the price of one! Fourth,…the anti-magnetism rating of the Santos is amazing. The versatility of this model is amazing. The OP can’t hang with this model.
As an owner of both the Santos (Medium) and the 36mm OP Explorer, I daily the Santos as well. Even on days when I wear the Explorer, my wrist misses the feeling of the Santos and I look forward to when I can wear it again. I don't feel that the other way around lol. Don't get me wrong, I love the Rolex but idk my hand naturally just reaches for the Santos in the morning and I feel like I can take on whatever comes my way 😂 Btw Santos (medium) is currently listed at $6800 USD, where did you find that price at 6:29? Is it more expensive in the UK? Great video, Gringa!
Santos: Whether it is an "OP Killer" is not relevant (to me anyway) More - it is just a Nice Watch with a dressier (but classic) design language. Way strap works (and easy to "play" with leather and croc, etc.) adds to it. I have 2 issues with the Santos. It is a scratch magnet (as you note) and it is a just a tad too thick for my taste. Neither one of these issues is "deal killer". And otherwise - almost the perfect "one and done" mechanical watch. Good "review" Brit!
I love the Santos but I baby it too much for it to be an everyday watch. For that the OP is probably better as I wouldn't be so protective of it. That said I have a Seamaster 300 MC as my new daily and the old Explorer 36mm to switch with. My Santos is on a blue alligator strap looking cool right now!
Cartier over any Rolex any time. Cartier watches are just pure class, no exception, meanwhile Rolex are slowly becoming expensive tacky watches, bought by nouveaux riches to show off, such like Hublot. I'm a bit rude here, but the comments of the Rolex fans and grifters on internet, are not helping either...And I am a Cartier owner for the reasons enumerated earlier.
The tech in the Santos bracelet is simply a bonus. The ease of resizing or swapping bracelets is ingenious.
Largely agree, but people outside of the watch community definitely recognize a watch that says Cartier on the dial. It's a very household luxury brand.

YUP! 😂👏🏻 perfectly said my friend!
LIES!!!!
Hahaha the bitterness oozes from your reply.
What's the matter? Can't get a Rolex?
I wear my Submariner daily because my Santos deserves respect.
Agree 100%, the Cartier has an elegance the Rolex doesn't, plus, it's all the bullshit that comes with paying over list for an entry level watch!

I would agree. Cartier santos is probably the most underrated watch in the market right now.
Right?! I couldn’t agree more! But 2022 is going to be the year of Cartier I think!
its a nice watch, in fact very beautiful ; just like most beautiful girl doesn’t mean the best
I love love love my Santos!!!! Same as yours, but larger model.

Santos all day for me! In fact it was one of your videos that made me look at this watch deeper in the first place.

Gah! I love it. Perfectly said! I think the ultimate combination is BOTH! 😜
I’d like one now!;)
WHAAAAT!!! You know it’s good when the maddest collector of watches looks into it! 😱😱😱 this would really suit you Russ!!!!
I do like both, but you definitely convinced me Santos > OP.
Mainly on the point of unique vs boring.
Thanks for the vid Gringa, entertaining and spot on as usual! I am a Cartier fanboy (already own the Tank Française 😎) but the Santos is my fav. 👍🏽
Fellow Cartier fans UNITE! 😂❤️❤️❤️❤️ oh YASSS TO THE TANK FRANCAISE. classy as it gets!! 😍
GOSH, I'm convinced! The Santos is now in my wish list. 😍
I still think the medium looks great on your wrist. My next watch will either be this or the Grand Seiko Four Season Spring. Leaning toward the latter. The dial is just so amazing on the GS. Plus I already have the Santos Dumont No. 14 bis. Scratches the Cartier itch.
I have both the GS Four Seasons Spring and the Santos. Both are dope, but the Santos has grown on me to become my favorite.
@@sylinmino Thanks for the input. I just picked up the GS. The Santos might be in my future though
@@alfieakaronaldog This dial is amazing. Just got it yesterday. The titanium is super light. Wasn't sure how I'd feel about that but so comfortable
Yes Santos for me over the OP!! Thanks for the video 👍🏻😊
That makes no sense and perfect sense simultaneously 🤣
Woah woah woah. This comment….. took me on a journey and I understand completely! 😂👏🏻
I'm in the same boat as you and purchased both in 2021, and this comment hits me right in the feels. So true.
Helpless watch lovers (like me) seeking ease and clarity in the comments find the perfect answer they hoped not to find 😂
Great comparison. May we know what polishing cloth you are using? Your bezel looks great.
Just cape cod.
The Cartier Santos is a true icon like the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Not comparable with the Rolex OP.
I have to agree, from a design perspective they’re miles apart.
Ahhhh I can dig this! ❤️👏🏻
But Rolex as a brand is much bigger than any other brand. Cartier is more for someone who is rich but not necessarily powerful.
@@rodtaylor3190 Rolex has great branding but it has nothing to do with real luxury watchmaking. If i‘m really powerful i don’t need to show it with my watch.
@@jean-luckarli3506 indeed, luxury may means more than just a brand. But sadly powerful rulers favors Rolex; losers wear cartier.
Right?! I think you nailed it with this one! The Santos is absolutely class! 😍👏🏻
You wear a bathing suit but also dress in black tie attire??🤔
@@paulw4904 yes days at the beach night time at weddings.
I believe! This is my next watch. Thanks for the great content.
I'd take the Santos over an OP any day. Great video B!
THE GRINGA COMING IN WITH A BOLD STATEMENT!!! YES LADY! I actually think I agree, personally! The Santos is a strong, classy, versatile piece!🔥🔥🔥
Coming from a Rolex total fanboy, yes, agree with you 100% Gringa. :-) The Santos you are wearing is beautiful and makes the OP look very boring.
Nice vlog great watches apart from OP being between £16,000 and £40,000 on the grey market now I think we have to go with the Cartier.
Enjoy
PS happy Sunday 🙏
I agree with everything you say - because you have a TH-cam channel AND a Golden! Fun video and nicely done!
Great video and great homegrown mug.
Ahhh thank you so much babes! ❤️👏🏻
I totally agree! I’d rather have the Santos any day over the Rolex OP. Another super video.
hey Britanny ! Since ROLEX has become synonymous with Unobtainable - Yes !
With that being said, could the santos be a one watch collection? 🤔😃. I’d say yes!! Awesome video!
I completely agree! 😱❤️👏🏻
Oh I don’t think you can send photos on TH-cam! Do you have Instagram?! :) send them to watch__papi! ❤️
Yo Gringa! Great content (as always)! What's that awesome looking leather strap that keep flashing the Santos on?
The Santos is such a beautiful watch. I feel like it would be a watch I would wear at the office & when dressed up…but not when I’m hiking & camping. That Rolex looks like it would be appropriate for everything!
Check out the Santos de Cartier Large Grey with black ADLC bezel. It comes with a black rubber strap. Can definitely hike in that! All the best.
Great vid as always! Some do come with lume, and a extra strap.
You've convinced me, it does make the Rolex look boring. Loved the western clips 👍
I love the Santos. I REALLY wish Cartier offered the Large in time-only. Not a fan of the date at 6 o'clock. Great vid Gringa!
Ouuuu now that is such a fair one with the Aqua Terra! 😱😱 I love that! And HECK YES TO TJE CANADA CUP! 😜😂👏🏻
Compelling presentation and argument.. nicely done.
Ahhh thank you so much! ❤️👏🏻✨
Who the heck buys something from Cartier - thinking about price? Price is the absolute last consideration in luxury brand purchases.
OUUUUUUU.
I don’t have a Cartier. I have some Rolex watches. This is more beautiful. This is the one I’d like to get.
I have both a 34mm Datejust and Cartier Medium. Both are great daily wearers. But the Cartier is just different in a special way.
I finally got an OP 41 after almost two years of patiently waiting. DONT YOU DARE SHIT ON MY PARADE
LMAOOOO!!!! OHHHH BABES! Do what I would do: acquire both! 😜
You should have got a DJ41 or a Submariner.
@@rafaeloliva6425 I now also own an explorer II and a Starbucks submariner. The OP is the best watch in my opinion
Well said
@Ron Tan. Perfect observation. 👏👏👏
What polishing cloth did you use? Ive been looking for something to clean up my Santos a little
I 100% agree Gringa, but then I'm not a fan of Rolex.
Hi. The bottom line is Santos just have that classy Cartier style over 20 years ago . I bought the large size in which now is the medium size ,
Brilliant video 👏😁. If the Santos is an OP killer, does that mean that Papi no longer needs the coral red OP? 🤔😂 I can hear @Watch Papi saying that is fighting talk where I come from 😂
LOL. OH. HE WILL STILL WANT HIS CORAL OP! 😜 greedy wee shite!
Hi!
Submariner.
Right?! This is so well said. That’s exactly how I feel. I WANT BOTH! 🙈🙈
The Santos is looking great by the minute
Spot on. Idk how Cartier is not more popular. Must have something to do with the jewelers aspect of the brand. The santos vs OP reminds me of the aquaterra vs DJ argument only instead of movement specs the santos wins in design.
Right?!?! I so agree woth everything said here. ❤️👏🏻
39m explorer and santos - perfect two watch collection
Oh that is ACCURATE! 👏🏻
@@BrittPearceWatches I just need to stop buying other watches 🙃
@tomp123
A Rolex Submariner and a Santos are a better choice if you can only afford a 2 watch collection.
I’m obsessed with the Santos 2 tone in medium. Yes I know is a quartz and a significant price jump, but is sooo beautiful. Scratches and all😂
It’s an automatic in-house movement :)
You’re back!!! Hey have you seen the new Brew Metric line of watches?? I got mine with the blue face yesterday. They sold out in minutes. My first semi expensive watch! ($400ish) cheers to you and Papi! 🍻
I FREAKING LOVE BREW! You know! I would diiiiie to review a brew on the channel! 😱❤️
@@BrittPearceWatches I get mine tomorrow!!! At least that’s what FedEx says. 🤜🤛
big fan of this watch too. I can't figure out between the steel and two tone HELP! I love the two tone, but wonder if it would look too dressy all the time. Then the all steel looks too monotone to me, but probably better all around-any event watch. Do you think the two tone is a great all around wear? Thanks
Great video, been thinking about Cartier for a while.
Not that I buy watches as investment, what are the resale prices like?
Uhmmmmm I don’t think the resale is amazing! I think they resell for slightly less! X
Real men wear pink and real men would wear a snantos but for me the OP wins
Right?! I so agree! The Santos actually has something interesting about it! And omg I am getting so tempted by GS!
Gringa (of Gringaland). From the video shots that appear in your discussion piece, it would seem you now OWN a Santos (and watch Papi has lost it forever).🤣
LOLLL! 👏🏻 I mean! He did say he bought it for us! 😜😂😂
Great comparison. Thank you.
Do you think a Rolex OP would be a suitable 18th birthday gift for my niece (in lieu of the Santos, which I think is too dainty)?
Cheers -
Woooahhhh! That is a VERY suitable gift! Wow! She will be beyond blessed to receive an OP as a birthday gift! ❤️
Wonderful video. It’s great to see a real person doing this. You’re great!
Whaaaat! This is very kind and has officially made my day! Thank you so so much! ❤️
Don't get me wrong, I love the Rolex but idk my hand naturally just reaches for the Santos in the morning and I feel like I can take on whatever comes my way 😂
Btw Santos (medium) is currently listed at $6800 USD, where did you find that price at 6:29? Is it more expensive in the UK?
Great video, Gringa!
Love your background music.
Ahhh thank you! 🙈❤️
OUU HOOOO! The Santos has got to be looking CLASS on the blue alligator! 😱❤️❤️
@@BrittPearceWatches it is indeed! 😂 Had it made by a guy on Facebook called HD Straps. A lot cheaper than Cartier.
Great video. I’d have them both, but the OP is my choice as the more versatile daily.
This is such a fair one! ❤️👏🏻
