The way that you can’t tell Douglas is gay because he doesn’t make it a defining part of his identity is the way I wish being black was. It matters so little to who I am. There are so many better things to build your identity around other than your race or sexuality.

He's basically implementing real equality in that he acts like straight people like myslef act about their sexuality. Like nobody cares. But the current obsession with sexual, racial and whatever minorities is just overcompensation after centuries of opression and most people will end up somewhere similar to Dougy, eventually. With colorful edge cases which is how things should be.

@@MatthewRao-ht4rp You think he might have been using some sarcasm there to make point bud? Also, since he is from England, maybe what's happening with those two ARE of much more importance to him and them as a country. Not for the tabloids like it is in the US, but perhaps it really does matter to him/them in a much more meaningful way. Did you think of it that way, or IF (don't think I'm pigeon-holing you now) you're from America, does everyone else just obviously think like you?

@@MatthewRao-ht4rp You just didn't see the importance of the point he made, as you were too busy celebrity gawking right past it. Nobody cares about Harry and Meghan. But people care about the renewal of traditional good behaviours in their cultural avatars.
Harry is going around claiming to be a British icon, whilst behaving like a person Britain thinks is human garbage and requesting the taxpayer foots the bill for this!! THAT is the thing the article was about, but you were too busy cooing to the MSM framework to see it.
Go and read it again. If you read it properly I guarantee you won't think it's concerned with menial bullshit like who Megan Markle is currently fucking with.

@@mikereilley5672 A) I'm not from America. B) Murray lives in America (New York specifically because of course he can't stand liberals), and as such, most of his columns are about the US scene. C) You can't contradict yourself that quickly - by saying "he was using sarcasm" and then in the next sentence say that it was a massive issue for him - and still consider yourself an intelligent person. D) Murray, and many others like him, go on about how "they dont have any more time to waste on LGBTQ nonsense", and yet they spend 90% of their time railing against it, and the rest of it shitting on immigrants or some non-issue like Prince Harry. The simple fact is, most sane people are just not that obsessed with trans people and think that at a time when the largest land war in Europe since WW2 is occuring, maybe a trans swimmer in Philly is not THE most important issue facing Western civilisation.

Whether it's discriminating against your political opponents or giving a protected class preferential treatment, the one thing that they don't stand for is a single standard of conduct that applies equally to everyone. Having power is more important to these people than fairness.

Also Douglas should know that it's mostly men of violence who come to the table and write the peace protocols. In reality I don't agree the ira were on its knees anymore than the violent murderous loyalists or the army who became a huge part of the problem. He seems to discount the years of being second class citizens in your own country by a system set up to ensure you get nothing ever. Its much more nuanced than the niche view

I asked ChatGPT to explain wokeism in the style of HP Lovecraft and this is what it gave me. Pretty much nailed it:
"Beware, dear reader, for I am about to recount the grim and ghastly tale of a movement so insidious and terrifying, that it threatens to unravel the very fabric of our society. I speak, of course, of the dark and eldritch force known as "Wokism."
This loathsome ideology creeps like a foul and shapeless horror, seeping into the minds of the unsuspecting and twisting them to its will. Its tendrils reach into every corner of our world, twisting language and perverting truth, until it becomes a mockery of all that is good and true.
Its acolytes, the "woke," are fanatics who worship at the altar of social justice, driven mad by a feverish and relentless pursuit of an ever-shifting moral code. They seek to destroy all that we hold dear, to tear down the pillars of civilization and replace them with a monstrous new order.
Their black rites are whispered in dark corners and secret gatherings, where they plot their next assault on our way of life. They demand the unthinking obedience of all who would dare to question their madness, and those who resist are cast into the abyss of the canceled, their names stricken from the annals of history.
Beware, I say, for the tendrils of Wokism stretch ever outward, threatening to snuff out the light of reason and hope in our world. Pray that you may never fall under its sway, lest you too be consumed by the abyssal horror that is Wokism."

As a grand child of holocaust survivors I have noticed that one of the greatest indicators of a trauma victim is the inability to see themselves as a victim since it is too difficult to process the emotions and still carry on. That would likely be a coping mechanism as you wonderfully illustrated. Good note and acknowledgment. I will be the devils advocate and say people can still be victims and self aware of their turmoil, you just tend to see it more rarely i think. Usually when you think you see it, it’s someone masquerading for attention.
I guess I say all that to say there are true victims who could technically fall under the self-victimization umbrella and abusers often use this as a stigma against them to maintain their victimization by getting them to distance from how bad things actually are. It can go from coping to control fairly quickly.

A teen Olympic contender. First time recipient of a Title IX award from the First Lady. I was in the band, an artist, a California State wide science award winner. But I could not cope with the trauma of my new Dad's lesbian daughter trying to force herself on me night after night. I became sleep deprived running out of my room at 2am because she would cone home high and drunk and force her way into my bedroom. I just didn't know what to say to my mother and my new Dad. They knew something was wrong. I asked my grandparents to live with them , but I didn't tell them about the sexual assaults. My parents were enraged, flipping out on me screaming at me, " ..you are not going to make me look like a bad parent by leaving.." I was strangled and slammed up against a stone wall. I was only interested in always being the very best person, athlete, scholar , daughter that I could be. I was only 14. When traumatized the last thing I ever wanted was to be seen as a victim, so you just get on with living.

Oh sure he does. Depends on what you mean by "left" and in what country you want to look for such a person. You do realize that in the USA, Douglas himself has a few talking points in common with the "right" at the moment, but he isn't exactly someone who would fit in at a MAGA rally. Apart from Muslim nations, nearly all countries are more 'left' than the US, whose "liberal democrats" are quaintly conservative by European and Asian standards, and likely some South American standards as well but I know too little about the political climate there to make any bold statements.

I understand when Douglas says he can't bear the murderers to be the men of peace. Northern Ireland was a civil war that should not have happened if civil rights had been given. Civil wars are extremely violent one on one as this was, no one escapes it. Wrong place wrong time could be deadly to all. Innocent people pay the price and 186 innocent children including babies were murdered in the troubles, republicans responsible for 43% and loyalist and British army responsible for 53%. Douglas seems to attribute most of it to the republicans and seems a little bitter about it. Maybe his friends are loyalists. All sides in that were to blame but it is usually the men of violence that come to the peace table and dictate terms. For the most part peace is there now of a kind anyway. In all conflicts its usually the men of violence who dictate terms and write the history. Once upon a time in Northern ireland, lost lives and lost voices are three programs from the peoples point of view with very little political overtones in them, and maybe a clearer view

But the future threat that the WEF, EU, UN, WHO are intent on imposing a life upon me, scares me at the age of 75, I fear my wish to be left alone will be refused, I will be forced to take medical treatments I don’t want nor need, I will be prevented from travel, eating healthy meats, eggs and fish that our dna prefers, and taxed and fined out of my ability to sustain my wish to be free and live my life as a free man !

I once heard a similar story to the woman who met her torturer in Eastern Europe (given that he ran when he saw her, I guess she was somewhere like Romania, where the regime was forcibly removed).
It reminded me of an interview I once saw with victims of the East German STASI. One of the men they interviewed was employed in a shopping centre (selling luxury goods), when his torturer came in as a customer.
Not only did he recognize him, but the former torturer clearly took pleasure in seeing his victim relive his memories and losing his composure (the guy didn't seem particularly strong-minded, the stereotypical effeminate gay type). And the worst thing was that he not only received no moral backing from his manager, but the former torturer started returning frequently when he was on shift, terrorising him regularly.
Only very few of the STASI criminals were held accountable, even most of the people who shot their countrymen for trying to escape the open-air prison that was socialist East Germany never faced charges. Some STASI offices were simply turned into HQs of fellowships/organisations of former STASI agents. This is what happens when you let criminals get away with their crimes for the sake of "peace". You'd think Germany, having done a reasonably good job confronting their WWII past, would know this and have taken it into account when writing the unification terms.
I bet there are similar stories throughout Northern Ireland, which simply won't get told. The British media is happy to cover up injustices if it serves their political ends, as seen with the grooming scandals.
