Absolutely! He's very smart. I too have believed for years now that no 2 individuals are equal. When feminists talk about man & woman needing to be equal I wonder if there are even 2 women who are equal to each other. Of course, the only real equality that can exist is legal equality i.e. making laws that are applicable to every individual regardless of the categories they may belong to.

True, he got nothing to do with old dusty nationalists from the far right, and I can suppose a book from Martin Sellner, Alain de Benoiste as well, and Sellner grounded his ideas on Gandhi and Hannah Arendt. We call them all the new rightwings. You can be a patriot as well without being a chauvinist nationalist, he grounded the idea of ethnopluralism. Unfortunately he and others get persecuated by our regime of Merkel, as these are forbidden informations.(mainly bc he found out they let IS-fighters in and they do nothing at all and want to force Austria to open all borders again. It´s dangerous now in Germany to be an opponent of the regime, no critics! Or to critisize the mad gender mainstream-politics (it´s a show, Kindergarten. @Giles Baron He might be literate and intelligent but that is by far an overstatement. From his own words "He's not gay is he?" insinuating there's something wrong with being gay. I do think he has some great points such as putting less focus on our differences, but I do also think he can verge on the side of narcissistic bigot from time to time.

I totally agree with the Greta Thomburg point. I mentioned to someone that some of the things Thomburg has said is factually not so, but then I was told "She's such a nice person, though." Well, sure, but I had a problem with what she was saying and not her existence.
People find this hard to grasp I swear. You can criticize someones ideas and actions without it being personal, making it personal or taking it personally just creates a barrier between the exchange of ideas
I've watched lots of Douglas's interviews about the new book, he looks far more relaxed than the rest and you really got a great interview from him in this podcast. He really is a very funny guy when he goes off topic.

Try the 'london real' interview - you have to watch most of it on their stupid website after giving them an email address for it, but it's two hours and he's highly relaxed and forthcoming, I'm covering all of his post-Madness interviews and that's been the best one.

I am a woman and have often thought just like Douglas how ridiculous and dangerous a path we are going down. I SO related to so much of what he said and had a good laugh along with you both. Keep asking those great questions and you were a pleasure to listen to. I could actually understand every word you both said lol and NOBODY interrupted anyone which was an absolute pleasure in of itself.
I've been a Douglas Murray fan since he wrote "Neoconservatism, and why we need it" and having binge-watched him these days because of his new book, I find this the most satisfying recent conversation, since the (gorgeous) interviewer explores with him new paths which others haven't. What a wonderful conversation!! Just to give some feedback to the value of this , 57 yr. old nurse mother grandmother from the u.s.. i am so greatfull to you both for examining these things!! I so agree !! These are the concerns and utter absurd stupid agendas that are present today..and as an adult i am responsible to educate myself , listening and learning is an action, i do not want this utter crap affecting my granchilderen. Gives me hope!!

I'm feeling pretty intelligent right now because I listen to this very intelligent man - Douglas Murray, who has obviously read many books and written some too, and I agree with everything he says! Good on you to hit the many nails on the head. You conversation about Nicki Minaj. I am a straight white female who waited till I was 54 to get married. I struggled a lot growing up and into my 20's and 30's with my relationships. I came to the realization that what I was going through was a result of my influences and experiences up to that point and I started to understand that if I wanted the outcomes of my relationships to change then I had to change to course I was on, even if that course had been set by extraneous circumstances set forth by the environment I grew up in. Now, it was up to me to change that course and I did. When I see women flaunting their "stuff" in ways similar to Nicki Minaj, I think to myself, "what message are you sending and why are you doing this?" I learned that, in most cases, you reap what you sow. Having said that doesn't mean that men get to do whatever they want but the woman has to take her fair share of the responsibility for the outcome of the interaction.
My Dad said it well about correcting wrongs versus Affirmative Action:
"If a Black man applied for the same job I applied for 20 years ago and was denied the job because he was Black, they should hire him and give him the same seniority I have and the same pay I have because he was denied the chance to accumulate them. But that doesn't mean that the next ten Black applicants have to be hired just because that other man got shafted 20 years ago."
Did he though? The concession your father made is pure thoughtless sympathy and god knows what else. Has he no concept of history? Give a man 'owed' seniority along that criteria and you must for every man in the world! It's life - it fucks you and has fucked your grandfathers! Give all Armenians seniority immediately!
I discovered Douglas many years ago when Ayaan Hirsi Ali and him debated the topic, Is Islam a religion of Peace? He was brilliant as always, I have followed him since and am deeply impressed with his brilliance. I love his books.

Oh Douglas! You are right! I have been saying it to so many friends because it's freakin neurotic..today every other "friend" of mine claims to be - " Bi-polar, OCD, Schizophrenic, clinically depressed, clinically suffering with anxiety, I am dyslexic, I have ADHD, and Migraine..(coz it cannot be low class headache or non clinical migraine anymore) and blah blah"...and I so often tap my friends and say "why is everyone in a race to have the latest in trend diagnosis as soon as Hollywood/Bollywood celeb makes it trendy" and they nod in agreement not realizing they are doing it themselves! I keep asking..."Can you not be depressed, just as a normal human being without getting a clinical certificate anymore?". Today as soon as you say to anyone, I am not feeling good..or I feel low, suddenly everyone frantically, automatically asks "Have you been clinically diagnosed? I have been you know"....and its as if its a competition and stage to act dramatic a bit. It is ridiculous! Glad a rational celebrity saw this and called it out!
I can listen to DM all day and must have watched a good ten hours already of him talking about his new book. Each time too he manages to come across as fresh (and not remotely peed off at regurgitating the same stuff!) but I'm so glad he brought up the mental health thing near the beginning of the talk. There's a holy trinity of mh disorders at the moment (aspergers, bipolar, and adhd) which many seem to be almost proud to be diagnosed with, because (i think) it marks them out as quirky, interesting, more sensitive - or that their suffering from the everyday slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, life etc, is somehow worse than that of the everyday person's. I do hope that Douglas takes this one further. Enjoyed the webchat!
In my opinion, the worst thing that could have happened is including aspergers into the autism spectrum. Classic autism is so far away from aspergers it is damaging the ability of those with classic autism to get the attention and services they desperately need. It puts an unrealistic expectation on their ability to move through life.

It's a shame there are so few public intellectuals who are as articulate and as well researched as Douglas Murray. In spite of the Madness of Crowds book, governments and corporations are still blindly walking into the abyss of I.D. politics as if nothing was ever written to counter it. Murray can't get enough air time on his own to make a real impact.

"You can reduce your risk of being mugged by avoiding using an ATM in a bad neighborhood. Don't walk alone in a bad neighborhood -- especially an unfamiliar neighborhood -- late at night. Don't flash large amounts of cash." Oh! Thank you for that good advice!
"You can reduce your risk of becoming a victim of burglary if you install an alarm system on your house. Keep your doors locked. Don't plant shrubs near windows. Install outdoor lighting. Don't leave the box for that brand new big-screen TV out by the curb." Oh! Thank you for that good advice!

You don't think there's the difference between these crimes and their intent?
tzi ling chew the point is that they are all crimes and they are all bad and they should be severely punished by law. But we have found ways to be reasonable and civil over how to reduce the risk on the first two but on the third one somehow half of the world’s population are the culprit (except the tiny minority of male feminists) and not a small percentage of people. That’s the equivalent of lumping the good neighborhoods with the bad ones for a theft that only happens in a bad neighborhood. I see all of them as bad crimes so not sure what the significant difference between them is.

Douglas Murray is a genius and gave me hope in society when I felt like quitting. He makes too much sense.
During the time I worked in the government upper management changed from men to women. It would seem that women would be more caring about the employees they managed but they were not. In fact they seemed less understanding of any personal issues that might show up in a workplace, more didactic, and in fact annoyed by turning to them to resolve any work issues. They mainly seemed to be concerned with their own career and could be quite brutal in taking over projects proposed and run by employess that seemed to serve their career goals. This might be a generalization, but it applied to the three women managers I had to work with.
I was a university lecturer until I was made redundant to make way for women. But while I was there 50% of the women working alongside me were vile machiavellian vipers. Never experienced anything quite like it before or since. Even though my career has gone, I'm still glad to be out of that cesspool of an environment
@@meirionowen5979 We seem to have forgotten some old well known facts about people in general and replaced them with ideals. If you watch old Perry Mason shows from the sixties you will see a completely different picture - both sides, the good and the bad, but somehow more informed about the things that move people to act and complexity of the motivations. People seem to have gotten a lot more stupid about these things since those days.
Excellent interviewer. Informed himself so he could ask really good questions. Murray able to be both brave enough to speak truth and confident enough to be relaxed when challenged.

The ending though really resonated, we need to be thinking big with what we as a species want to achieve, and beyond that we still have a load of problems that are more important like poverty, famine disease, everyone not in a first world country, people who are under actual dictators ect

I’m a psychiatrist and in my experience it’s PTSD at the top of the Mental Health list. Anyone who’s ever had to tolerate anything uncomfortable or distressing seems to claim “trauma”.
which has deluted the word completely and has made us unable to say that some discomfort is okay, has to be endured or might even be good for building resilience and stuff.

I watched a lot of Doug Murray videos today and this young interviewer is perhaps the most insightful and ingenious among his better known TH-cam peers, some of whom were clearly out of their depth when conversing with him. Great job putting Murray off of his basic script and navigating through some unexplored territory with a great relaxed wit. Well done!

Love the choice of guests, the way you seem to build a rapport with them, the knowing when to listen and when to ask intelligent questions and of course the sense of humour with which you cover some of these difficult topics. So glad I found this channel - a real breath of fresh air that I think so many lost people must be looking for right now.
To Douglas's point about over correction, I have heard it put:
We used to treat unequal people equally under the law. Now with the social justice ideology, we treat unequal people unequally to make them equal.

Douglas Murray is always worth a like and this interviewer is a pretty good guy he actually lets his guests talk.
I really hope Douglas Murray does write about the mental health issue eventually. I was diagnosed with a mental illness 14 years ago in my teens (there is a long history of it in my family) and it has been fascinating over recent years to watch people take on being mentally ill for oppression points. The same thing with autism, OCD, and anorexia. I’ve seen morbidity obese women discuss how they are anorexic. We live in really weird times.
I think “Fat” is a potential other chapter for him too
Been following Douglas Murray's intellectual courage, grace, eloquence and nuanced insights for years and his new book has brought me landing here. I really enjoyed this one. Glad to discover Modern Wisdom. Will follow.

This is a great episode and deserved a rewatch. To Douglas's point about women praying on men...a prime example is Trevor Bauer the baseball player more recently. It is quite remarkable...Trevor had to counter sue her for her texts to be released as evidence....and he had essentially dropped the charges once her texts were released...just to clear his name. He had just signed the largest contract in baseball at the time and he still isn't back playing baseball...costing him $220 million in salary i think it was.

I appreciate the straight talk. I couldn’t agree more with Douglass. We are confusing children with all the p.c. talk and teachings and especially with transgender issues. When I was kid I hated dolls, thought they were stupid and preferred making things and thought toys marketed to boys were much better - I’m glad my parents didn’t interpret that as something else.
This was so good I had to listen to it twice.

Excellent. I'd love to hear Douglas's examination of the MGTOW phenomenon that was briefly mentioned in the discussion where the young man was staying away from girls.
DOUGLAS: Brilliant, as usual. (Spoiler-alert: Identity Political statement!) As a 67 year-old Christian man, who has shared life with another (atheist) man for 36 years, we were once interviewed by EDDIE MAIR as to why I was so hostile to 'gay weddings'. I was unsure; but you have provided me with the answer. Whilst I was fighting just for my Human Right to live with another man, back in the 1970s, without fear of violence, that was ALL I wanted. I didn't want 'marriage'; because Heterosexuals need to sort out what THEY mean by 'marriage', to start with. For most of them it is certainly not ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN FOR LIFE! I see those who pursue 'gay weddings' as being just as shallow as many heterosexuals are: people who want a 'fuss' to be made of them.
I don’t even see gay rights as a concern any more, which is a testament to what your movement in the 70’s achieved I suppose. “You are fully integrated when you have to deal with the same shit as the rest of us”
@@ChrisWillx I agree with you entirely. Of course, as a Christian I should lament the virtual total collapse of the Church which has come about owing to its various sexual hypocrisies: but I don't! The Church of England stopped being of any use to God decades ago!

The 'overcorrection' point is an accurate description of many social issues, often the progress made on an issue isn't met with a relaxation of the lobby, only a larger cry for justice, inverse of the lone person shouting for justice to start a movement.

Your mention re: the double standard applied to club behavior, and the impossible ideas that we are forced to accept resonated. As well as the " hands off" MGTOW approach that more men are embracing rather than wrestle with the social justice threshing machine.

@@ChrisWillx it's as if the social contract between the sexes has been voided, and men are acting like they are in a minefield. Because we are. False accusations on the job, or at school now carry lifelong consequences regardless of what due process finds.
Interesting....In countries such as Canada, we don't tell people how to think. We let them think for themselves and then we sit back and listen. So interesting Douglas. Intelligent, articulate and balanced. So many of the qualities seemingly unavailable in mainstream politics and i have to ask why Douglas has never expressed a desire to enter that arena? He would get my vote and those of many others i'm certain of it. Imagine if he were your PM - what a different UK we would see.

At the end when you and Douglas were discussing statues the image of Rodin's "The Thinker" popped into my head. Except, instead of him sitting with head in hands he was bent double staring at his navel. That would so readily describe the era we are in. Great interview.
Douglas is one of very few public persons, that- I personally feel, truly represent gay men, inspire politically and whom I look up to. He’s a great thinker writer and speaker. An intellectual mind behind the fresh and informed perspective, clearly. Much appreciated 🙏🏻
