I like that in S1E1, The Mandalorian was introduced in an opening iris transition (saloon door opening), and S3E8, he (and Grogu) is shown in a closing iris transition.
Pedro Pascal has just become the go-to for “disgruntled, lonely grump tasked with taking charge of a special small child and learning to love them as his child”…and I’m not mad about it!
It's literally gotten to the point where whenever I'm watching the Mandalorian, if there's an emotional moment my first thought is always "oh my god Angela's gonna love this"
Since everyone seems to be missing it: Grogu's use of the force to save Bo and Din is the Chekov's Gun of the fight against Gideon back on Navarro, when the flamethrower trooper enters the building and Grogu redirects the flames, but quickly passes out. All of our characters have had growth this season, of one version or another: Bo grew into the confidence and leadership she lacked at the beginning; Din grew his family, from being an orphan to becoming a father of one, finally accepting in his heart the doubts and worries of what that would mean; Paz Visla grew from his mistrustful views over outsiders to standing beside Din and Bo, then willing to lay down his life for people he barely knew; R5 was able to overcome their fears and step up when the time called; even Axe grew, from someone seemingly jealous and resentful of Bo to following her orders without question, nearly laying down his own life in that duty. For Grogu, that growth came in both acting out his own agency (piloting a mech, performing dangerous tasks and actively shaping his destiny and the destiny of others around him) as well as growing in the force: where once even deflecting a small flamethrower was enough to force him into unconsciousness, he can now withstand the explosion of a dying light cruiser. I think it's also worth noting that Grogu's use of the force was ALL defensive: pushing people away or pulling weapons out of reach, which is in stark contrast to Luke's appearance at the end of Season Two, crushing and dismantling the Dark Troopers without a second's thought. Grogu even lets the frog go in the end.
Yes! Grogu drops the frog. This was super telling to me too. I think there's a lot of seeds here being planted and Grogu's direction is definitely one.
Forgebae would never betray us. Also The Spies was a reference to the 12 spies of Moses from the Bible. There were even 12 people with Bokatan on the scouting mission.
If Bo didn't know that Grogu can stop fire it means that she was willing to sacrifice herself to protect him because she had barely any protection. With Gideon... unless I see a body I don't believe he is gone.
I'm guessing Axe has a modified/upgraded jet pack or something, extended fuel tank. That's why he volunteered to warm the fleet (because he has a modified jet pack).
I got this from another channel but the spies are the mandalorians that went to the planet as the scout team. In the olden times scouts were sent out to spy on the enemy ahead of the main force so Bo, Din, and the rest were the scouts (spies) that the episode is named after.
I really wish I had picked up that either. Our group was despise or the empire guys were the spies… I felt a little silly. But damn, I’m glad none of our people were bad.
@@funnylilgalreacts I also didn't realize that until I watched the video that was referenced. So it was easy to miss. I'm not sure how intentional it was but another person noted that there were 12 "spies" or scouts that went to Mandalore, which is the same number of spies that Moses sent to scout out the Promised Land in the Bible. Might have been coincidental but it was interesting.
That seems like a real stretch to me. Filoni doesn't give me the feeling he'd be putting obscure biblical references in Star Wars. No doubt he or someone else involved will clarify the "Spies" thing in an interview soon.
@@StumpyTales "he'd be putting biblical references in star wars"...the shard that Din gave the Armorer in the first episode had a piece of text that, when translated was from the book of exodus. All the episode titles this season had religious contexts, and most people agree that the Mandalorians this season were the Star Wars version of the Jewish people. the 12 tribes of Egypt, differing beliefs of the same core religion etc. Even the term "Halakha" which is Hebrew translates to "the way". I'd say 99% that it was intentional.
Having adopted our son from being our Foster son to our son son, even though it was really just a "legal change" that moment that your son is given your family name is always going to make you tear up at that scene on the water' edge. 😍
Yep! Unlike a lot of people the sequel trilogy was saved for me by one fact. Rey Skywalker is taking the bloodline theme that Star Wars has always been about and introduces the concept of found family into that theme. They don't share blood, or midichlorian counts, but they are family. She's a Skywalker. She owns the name; it's definitely hers. And for reasons you mention and what seems so special about that moment with Din Grogu, I hope we get a "formalization" scene with Rey in some future content.
Not gonna lie... R5 is my hero. A lot of this is, of course, driven by nostalgia and a wonderful vindication of finally seeing the droid at his full potential. When I was a little kid, he was one of the first wave of action figures I had, hot on the heels of Star Wars' release. I mean, the first two I ever had were R2 and 3-PO... but later I had to have R5 because he fit in with the other droids so well. Ah, if only I still had them. Regardless, I sincerely hope that we see more of R5.
This episode felt like the ending of a feature film rather then a series finale its so epic! Mandalore shown to able to support plant life, the Mandalorians reigniting the ancient forges, Din officially adopts Grogu, Ig-11 is back, and a new adventure begins!
I look forward to seeing where all the seeds planted in this season grow. Also I would REALLY love another season with the Din family playing up the old style weekly serial western show.
The air fight reminds me of something Bo-Katan said to Ezra in Rebels when he said their weapons were down: "A Mandalorian with a jetpack IS a weapon".
a lot of people are saying The Spies (aside from Gideon and Kane) refers to the team of Mandos that initially went down with Bo-Katan to scout the planet - based on the biblical story of Moses sending 12 spies, 1 member of each tribe, to explore Canaan to see if it was safe and bountiful for the Israelites to settle there.
My favorite part was Bo-Katan vs Moff Gideon. I’m sad that she lost the dark saber, but she got to unleash her inner rage. I’m also hyped that we got IG-11 back and upgraded.
The spies refer to the 12 mandalorians that went to planet in episode 7 and that's taken from the bible as the 12 spies from the book of exodus, at least that's the theory I have read recently, I too was expecting the armored or Axe to be the spies but they are loyal Mandalorians. Love all your reactions and looking forward to the next one.
I just love watching the ships! How TIE fighters launch, the "stuck camera on TIE Interceptors" POV. The bombers! I really want a show about fighter pilots!
I loved this episode because it gives us one epic plot twit: their was no spy among the Mandalorian's. The creators of the series made us think there were spies and that they were leading the other Mandalorian's into a trap. But their weren't any spies at all. It was all of us just being suspicious of individual initiative and new behaviors, which people do develop naturally. Brilliantly done. Also, I really appreciate Din going full John Wick on the Dark Troopers and showing what he can really do.
IMO the title of episode 7 "The Spies" is a reference to the 12 spies that Moses sent out to scout the land just like Bo had 12 spies to scout Mandalore.
The real twist is there was no twist, just overexcited fans misconstruing the episode title and letting the theories get out of hand. The "spies" were the recon team spying out the planet of Mandalore. The theories of the Armorer being a traitor were so bewildering, it seemed like no-one was watching the same show I was.
The Mando fleet had exited space and gone into the upper atmosphere right above the storm, so Axe and the others didn't have to go into space. This is why there is no typical "reentry" flames as they are entering the atmosphere.
I totally did NOT notice Filoni's cameo at the bar there! Or perhaps it's because he was wearing a - *slightly different* hat. 😂 I mean, I've clearly seen him pilot the X-wing before, but not in the bar scene!
The spies were really just Kane and Gideon. The nanodroids will come back. Nothing is introduced for no reason, it just may take a little while to get there. This season had to wrap up this particular conflict, so that the Ahsoka series can start without questions about what's happening with Mandalor.
It is possible to might remake the darksaber but I'd be okay if it were gone. As you pointed out it generally caused more problems than it solved. I think the return of the mythosaur would be more significant than re-forging the darksaber. I'm sure that there is more Mandolarian coming but I feel they could have ended the series there. A mercenary that found a child and through this journey he adopted him as his son and helped restore his home in the process.
Thank you so much for your videos! After each episode of this season I was eagerly waiting for your reaction, and it was always a joy to watch. I love your analysis, before and after, and your genuine love of the universe. I’m always excited to have more star wars content, and I’m happy to see people enjoy it as much as I do. It wasn’t my favourite season either, but I still had a blast! Now I'm really looking forward to Ahsoka!
"The Spies" is likely a reference to the old testament where in which the Jews sending spies (in Hebrew) to ancient Israel so they will research the land and find if and where they can actually live there and what are the threats awaiting for them, which is pretty similar to most of the plot of this episode
Ive seen this in many social media comments. The term "Spies" they used here could be in the biblical sense, where as Moses chose one person from each of the 12 Tribes of Judah to scout ahead of the people to the Promised Land to make sure it was safe to inhabit. The scouts were often referred to as The 12 Spies or Moses' Spies. In the previous episode if Im not mistaken, 12 volunteers came forward to scout the surface of Mandalore with Bo Its very bittersweet to see the Darksaber go. Its one of my favorite weapons in the Star Wars universe. But its also a nice way for Mandalore to grow and let go of the past. Ive always seen their mentality of leadership being based on wielding the Darksaber alone as a weakness and set back. Din has expressed to Bo directly that the weapon means nothing to him and The Watch. And as it should be; leadership should be based on strength of character, not the ability to wield a legendary weapon If there is to be another Mandalorian lightsaber, Id love it to be one that Grogu builds. Either the crystal from the Darksaber is salvaged by the Armorer and given to him to construct and hilt around, or he somehow finds his way to Ilum before its turned into a death ray and destroyed in the events of The Force Awakens
Bo-Katan's song has been written. Like Djinn said in chapter 22 at the end, the more important thing is her Honorable deeds, mainly Returning Mandilore to the Mandalorians.
Great reaction as always, I loved this episode as well. You get bonus pernts for The Rocinante model in the background, I'm just noticing that if it's been there for a minute. I loved The Expanse.
The girl with Pershing was the only spy, along with Gideon. Everyone had their theories about a third spy, but it was clearly spelled out already. As for Mando and the newly named Din Grogu, I have no doubt we'll see both again, somewhere in the timeliness, because there's still a TON of unexplored years in the post-Return of the Jedi Era. I have spoken. Great reaction as always Angela. In my humble opinion, you would make wise and humble Mandalorian .... or Jedi Knight.
The reason why those nanobots aren't more widespread is mostly because those were originally battle droids that had been reprogrammed, and instead of reinforcing that new programming, the nepenthe had been spiked to restore their original aggressiveness. I suspect it only worked because the commissioner worked closely with the repurpose program and knew from his days as a Separatist how to exploit the programming weaknesses. While the same thing might work on other repurposed droids, they made clear that that wasn't a common practice across the galaxy. Not to mention, the degree of influence of the nanobots we saw made them incredibly impractical; they didn't take control of the droids, just unleased chaotic aggressiveness. It probably could be developed into something more insidious, but they're a far cry from being able to be a widespread threat.
@ 22:50 Mando says he'll adopt him. Before that point the Armor had said, "you are AS his father". Just meaning, he is to care for as a father. Even in a Galaxy Far Far Away, there has to be rules inlife and law.
I had to rewind and watch the scene of Bo and her squad launching from the garden, being joined by the orbital fleet, and leading them into battle, at least 5 times before I could move on with the story. I could probably watch an entire episode of Mando squads doing air drops, fro different angles.
I can't remember if anyone mentioned it on the last video, but "The Spies" might be a reference to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twelve_Spies. Short version, scouts sent by Moses to scout the land of Canaan as a future home. Which would mean that "The Spies" in question were Bo-Katan's landing party.
17:26- It wasn't poor planning, it was sheer stupidity, overconfidence and egotistical, a common trait among those in the Empire. 19:50- The only tool he's using is the Force, and that's far better than any weapon the Mandalorians have.
I never thought they meant anyone other than the spy for Moff that we already knew about. But then I get on twitter and see everyone talking about a Mando spy and I don't know what I missed in that episode.
I just thought "The Spies" title was fairly straight forward and self explanatory? We literally see the Shadow Council, many of those in the Shadow Council probably have prominent roles throughout the galaxy and are spies for the secretly rebuilding Empire? But maybe I misunderstood and there was a deeper meaning of spies we just didn't discover this season and it's meant to be a seed for future shows?
@@Halbam That is one of the theories by various people, and would fit with many of the biblical references that the show has made. However it could also very well be a double entendre, have duel meanings, and both my idea and that one could both be right. (It could also be neither). Either way I'm not too bothered, I'm just glad the last two episodes were amazing and looked more like a big budget movie, as well as feeling like peak Star Wars at least to me.
I heard another explanation for why last episode was called the spies. It’s referring to the story of the 12 spies. Explaination from google: The Twelve Spies, as recorded in the Book of Numbers, were a group of Israelite chieftains, one from each of the Twelve Tribes, who were dispatched by Moses to scout out the Land of Canaan for 40 days as a future home for the Israelite people. Which goes with what they were doing here, the small group of mandalorians, went to scout ahead but had found that the place they were looking for was already being occupied by a hostile force.
The Spies in last episode was apparently a Bible reference. Moses sent 12 spies ahead to the Holy land to scout before the rest of the Israelites arrived. Bo Katan's scouting team to Mandalore also had 12 members, and Bo Katan functioned as the Mandalorian Moses.
Tar Vizsla built the Darksaber to be a Jedi's weapon. It was made for a peacekeeper, not a warrior. It was his family which stole and used it to dominate and rule. The destruction of the Darksaber marked the end of this era of Mandalore. No more shall Mandalorians rule by the sword. From now on, they shall rule through unity. Satine was on to something. She found a way to rule without the Darksaber, and Mandalore was able to thrive. Now, Bo Katan finally sees what her sister saw, and hopefully this time she can do better. Mandalorians are invincible when they're together, for only their own divisions can destroy them.
The Spies was a word play/mislead. It was a reference to Moses and the 12 Spies, one member of each of the tribes sent ahead of the rest to scout their future settlement land.
'Ships & space shit!' I'm right there with you. This was peak Star Wars, fantastic end to a great season. I almost wish the last 2 episodes were a movie, would love to see it on a big screen!
I originally thought "Spies" was not referring to any one character, but to the scouting party in general. I changed my mind though, and really think the reference to "Spies" was of course, Elia Kane (Katy O'Brian), but also Koska Reeves played by Mercedes Varnado. She is observant and doesnt talk much, and has been right beside the Night Owl faction leader (Bo-Katan Kryze and then Axe Woves) for a long time, which put her in a good position to spy. Also, I'm pretty sure Moff Gideon isnt dead, because we didnt see a body. His new cutting edge armor probably protected him.
The Spy thing was contained to just that episode, Spy also means Scout, as in scouting land/terrain. Also the Mythosaur has WAY more meaning than the saber and I'm pretty certain Grogu is going to tame the Mythosaur!! The dark Saber being destroyed was a good thing for the Mandalorians!
This was a fun season. I always liked Bo and her arc was cool. Reclaiming mandolor and uniting the people. I look forward to seeing them in the future. The final battle was spectacular, and the triple battle reminded me of episode 6. Very well edited
11:39 Mandalorian armor can typically be pressurized and heated for outer space. Just, not for very long. Also, the cloth being flame resistant is normal. Normal people don't wear flamethrower resistant clothing, but, when it is a standard issue weapon as part of your religion, well, it kinda makes sense that you would have your clothing somewhat resistant to being burnt off. It just takes longer to burn through and heat up, but is also very distracting and unnerving to have done to you in the middle of a fight. 20:21 Gideon is tricked out with all the Mando tech, including Mandalorian crushgaunts. They are powered gloves, made of beskar, and do exactly what it sounds like they do. He broke all of her fingers and hand when he crushed the Darksaber. I'm also glad my man Skinny Pete survived.
I feel like this episode wrapped up the entire series, in a sense. Basically, if there wasnt going to be a season 4, then this would be a satisfying end point... That being said, it did feel like they just kinda tried to wrap everything up with a bow, in the easiest way possible. Its almost like while filming they were planning to film a much longer season, then after episode 7, someone told them that they only had 1 more episode to wrap everything up, so they did. I loved the episode at face value. It was action packed and had a happy ending. I feel like those that are just casual watchers of the series, will enjoy it much more than us die hard fans. I feel like we all had predictions that became expectations. I feel like the story itself was kinda all over the place and lacking in a few ways, but I did enjoy it and it was fun to watch. I'm excited for next season because I feel like it will focus more on Din and Grogu again, and the crystal in the dark saber is likely still good and might be used in Grogu's lightsaber. I also think next season, they will adapt the idea of removing their helmets, and I think Grogu will get his helmet then. I feel like we will experience a slight time jump next season as well. Mandalore will be more established, Grogu will have a little more experience and it makes it more believable that he will be at the point of saying his first words, therefore being able to take the creed. Also, Moff Gideon is not gone... He wasnt there when the flames cleared... They showed multiple times that those suits can handle fire easily. Anyway, I liked the season, but overall it lacked the grit and intensity of the first 2. Its still my favorite Star Wars series, to date. I'm happy where we ended it, just wish a little more would have been involved in getting us there. Love your reactions and may the force be with you.
Regarding the title of the previous Episode "The Spies", everyone got this wrong. It wasn't the Armorer, or someone else on the Mandolorian team betraying them, it was a reference to Moses and the Twelve Spies. Moses sent 12 "spies" into Canaan for 40 days to scout out the Promised Land before they took it over and turned it into Israel. There were 12 Mandalorians including Bo, Din, Grogu and the Armorer on the volunteer scouting party prior to them re-taking Mandalore. It was basically a biblical reference in the title with the parallels to retaking their ancestral home. Pretty obscure that no one seemed to get and led to a lot of fan theories that didn't pan out.
Season 4 of Mando has been confirmed. The Season 3 finale did feel like a goodbye, maybe just in case they weren't coming back? Jon Favreau said Season 4 will be much better than 3. I've read that Ashoka, Mando Season 4 and the Dave Filoni Boba Fett movie are supposed to be one big story arc. Also: Don't give up on the Darksaber. Regular Lightsabre's get repaired on the regular, why can't it? BAD GUY 101: 1-No monologuing. 2-Never leave your evil clones in the hallway. 😅
Chapter 20: Jetpacks run out of fuel after about a minute, Chapter 24: Axe Woves's jetpack gets him off planet, breaks atmosphere, gets to the cruiser and he still has enough for an escape. Maybe the Covert started near empty for some reason. Considering this was closer in time to RotJ than TFA I thought that the Praetorian Guards should have looked more like the Emperor's Royal Guards. It's good that the Darksaber is gone, it was never depicted as a positive symbol for them. In the Clone Wars it was held be a terrorist group, and has since represented the infighting of the clans.
Nanodroids were already used as a weapon back in The Clone Wars, when the Jedi Temple was bombed and Ahsoka was blamed, which ultimately led to her leaving the Order.
The Whistling Birds were strangely absent the whole season. I wonder if the bit about Grogu's parents was a hint that one of his parents might have been someone we already knew. I do kind of like how the whole cloning storyline was wrapped up to just be Gideon's quest rather than something connected to Snoke and the sequel trilogy, although that research could obviously be used for that.
Thought it was an interesting bit of symmetry when the Darth Vaderish Moff Gideon tells the trooper "ill take care of him myself' which reminded me of Vader in "A New Hope" when going to confront Obi Wan says almost the same thing to Grand Moff Tarken. Wonder if that was done on purpose..almost like they wanted to show history repeating itself
I loved this season...the world building snd the connection to the sequel trilogy...cause we got alot of connections for it. I think this season was the best. Having to watch all the canon series, canon movies, canon video games and read the canon books in chronological order...seasons like the third season is common. And yes the Dinn Djarin and Grogu story arch felt final...prediction, the next season might be another Mandalorian taking the helm.
No Darksaber anymore, but Satine Kryze never possessed the Darksaber when she was empress. They never truly needed the Darksaber, it was just a symbol for mandalorians to rally behind. Who needs a lightsaber when they have their homeworld to unite them again.
While the darksaber was crushed, if the crystal is intact, it could theoretically be put into a new saber. Given Grogu's ability to communicate with the mythosaur, it could be possible that in a future season (or movie) Grogu either is given or builds a smaller saber with the crystal from the darksaber. We've already seen that he can tame beasts and was able to commune with the mythosaur, so its possible that with a "new" darksaber, and officially being considered a mandolorian, he could be the modern version of Tar Visla and the future leader of Mandalore. We see little hints of him being a potential capable leader. While yes he's still young, he's learning lessons on the culture and had some training from the Jedi as well as Luke. He was also able to stop Paz and Axe from fighting, something no one else was able to do (we even see after that scene when the creature destroys the ship they're on, both Paz and Axe grab the IG-12 body to carry him to safety). We also know that his species is long lived, so he'll be around, presumably, long after Bo-Katan passes, so someone will have to take her place to lead Mandalore.
In the episode, The Spies, the more than one spy was the obvious Gideon spy, and the Mandalorians themselves, as they went to spy on the planet to see if it was safe to land in force.
Dave Filoni and Jon Faverau didn’t write all the episodes as they were spending time writing Ashoka and the early scripts for the movies. Rick Famuyiwa did an OK job filling in but this explains why it was rushed unfortunately.
There will definitely be more seasons of Mando. You can almost guarantee that there's a surviving Gideon clone with force powers. After all Gideon isn't just Mando's nemesis, he's Grogu's nemesis. And Grogu is going to ride that Mythasaur one day or they wouldn't have introduced it this season. Besides Favareu has said in an interview that he's already written season 4 and that we're only halfway through their story. This was the finale to the first Mando trilogy of seasons. Not the entire show. I don't think we'll hear Grogu talk until the show finale. That he doesn't talk is a big reason for his cuteness. They'll milk that for as long as they can. There will be plenty of time for Grogu to grow up later. They have another 850ish years they can use him after all. He's going to be around Star Wars related shows and movies for a very long time.
I would think, just conjecture on my part. I am no expert on Mandalorian lore, so I am extending my passion of fantasy, fiction and general contextual lores, along with some canon and non-canon (formerly canon) lores and information. The Armorer doesn't necessarily need a large amount of the Living Waters to make the helmet. Much as blessed water would be considered "holy water" by some faiths, it would not be hard to imagine that an armorer of the Children of The Watch, would have a small amount of the Living Waters, and a single drop of the Living Waters would effectively consecrate a container of water to be used for such purposes, creating a change in the other water, that it could be used for such a purpose. But this trace of the Living Waters would react to the sample brought back by Din Jarin to affirm that it is of the Living Waters to her satisfaction. [As I am unfamiliar with the animated series, on some elements you may be more aware of lores I am not aware of. I don't currently have the time to binge through them. My work schedule has become exhausting, and I can't even take the time to try to catch the other shows that are currently being made] As for who placed the tracking device on the Razorcrest. Remember Gideon was ISB (think cold war, KGB / CIA for the Russian and USA versions), they dealt in intelligence, information, and black operations. It's no stretch of the imagination to think the person who placed the tracking device on the Razorcrest had been an informant or agent for the ISB, HOW many stories are there (in fiction) of deep cover operatives of the CIA or KGB surfacing decades later with ties and allegiances to their "former masters"? :Rebellion is a term from the Imperial Age. It's the New Republic (building from the ashes of the Empire, attempting to become what the Old Republic was intended to be) [Now, on to the episode reaction, as we've put the "previously on" review behind us.] Fighting with the "Beskar stormtroopers" the whole "He's got a flamethrower too? If they have Whistling Birds..." I'm going to point out that the stormtroopers are wearing a "Beskar Alloy" based on the fragment found on the transport Gideon had been on. Beskar Steel isn't necessarily the same. An alloy is likely easier to work with, incorporating many but not all the traits of the metal it's made from. And Whistling Birds are not a commonly used implement, I'm thinking that's a secret Gideon has not learned. 10:00-10:02 I love your passion about "Space sh!t" missed that since you reached the end of "The Expanse" 11:10-11:12 "He can go into space with that?" Not sure if this is canon anymore, but the standard Imperial Stormtrooper armor (assuming they thought to seal their helmets) would keep a trooper alive in space for about half an hour. They just didn't have thrust capacity. There were also Imperial Troops who operated heavier armor used for boarding actions, which actually had thrust capabilities and could survive in space for multiple hours of vacuum engagements. [this is all from before the Special Edition of the original trilogy, and well before the Prequel Trilogy came out, probably no longer canon] Mandalorian armor is superior in so many ways. The range of the pack's fuel supply might be in question, but that wasn't the source of your surprise. R5 lets first MOUS droid pass , cautiously moves to com port unseen. Gets found by MOUS droid, gives it a scorching "GTFO" message. Finishes the task. MOUS shows up with buddies to alert others to the intruding R5. R5 says "Peace out" and leaves. Though you didn't include the specific shot I remember very strongly, in case you missed it, seconds before the cruiser crashed into the base and burned Gideon. Notice where Bo Katan slid into and where she was positioning her shield. Not to protect Din Jarin, not to protect herself. But to protect Grogu. The Darksaber being destroyed, means it is the symbol no more. Simply an artifact lost to history. 24:45-24:54 When I watched this episode, I was thinking "Do not eat the frog. Do _not_ eat the frog. Please, Do *not* eat the frog."
My only thought about "The Spies" is that maybe Elia Kane is a clone, and there are multiple copies of her spying on different planets within the New Republic. Possibly, this will come up again next season.
@omni1 does a good explanation of why it's called the spies.. scout teams a long time ago used to be called spies, there's a famous story of Moses and the 12 spies.. the same amount Boka had
Side notes: Gideon himself is a spy, thrawn might use the nanites, the Rey movie happens to occur at about the same point in Din Grugu's life that Master Yoda became a Jewish knight... though our kid is a knight of plazir already, so.
It's funny how the Spies name of the last one really threw everyone off. It could be a biblical reference for the scouting party that went to Mandalore. Also I know the Light Cruiser was what finally killed Gideon, but the Mandos could always repurpose what's left of the base into their own base...
Maybe Gideon did the Mandalorians a favor by trashing the Darksaber. That weapon has been nothing but trouble for them.
Like Din, it is not darksaber that defined leader. It was honor and loyalty that made Bo Ka Tan the one to lead Mandalore
now it can be remade Grogo sized lol
Mandalorians - when they commit to something, they give 110% without question. Great fun to watch.
I liked that the re-taking of their planet was up the Mandalorians and no one came to their rescue. It was on them to do it.
This is the way.
It's literally gotten to the point where whenever I'm watching the Mandalorian, if there's an emotional moment my first thought is always "oh my god Angela's gonna love this"
@@jamesmorales4735 oh for God's sake, I'm pretty sure she can speak for herself. Leave the guy alone would ya?
She loved the comment, so yeah ... acknowledged.
Don't be mean.
Wish I could send you a tip and a hundred likes.
Forgebae would never betray us. Also The Spies was a reference to the 12 spies of Moses from the Bible. There were even 12 people with Bokatan on the scouting mission.
Ax woves and the armorer deserve a huge apology from the internet
especially the armorer...come one, the armorer?
If Bo didn't know that Grogu can stop fire it means that she was willing to sacrifice herself to protect him because she had barely any protection. With Gideon... unless I see a body I don't believe he is gone.
i LOVE the angry look on Grogus face when Mando is being attacked by the three red guys.... he is FURIOUS.... and still so damn cute
Beat me to it.
23:05 One of my favorite parts of this chapter was Axe leading the "for Mandalore" chant!
He also has Ragnar at his side who could be his ward niw
All the people that thought he was a spy owe him an apology, Dude is a G
And Ragnar right beside Axe. We are seeing them again.
We will!!! He's apart of clan mudhorn now!!! He's mandos second child lol
This episode felt like the ending of a feature film rather then a series finale its so epic! Mandalore shown to able to support plant life, the Mandalorians reigniting the ancient forges, Din officially adopts Grogu, Ig-11 is back, and a new adventure begins!
Also notice Ragnar said nothing about not taking his helmet off.
I look forward to seeing where all the seeds planted in this season grow. Also I would REALLY love another season with the Din family playing up the old style weekly serial western show.
Yes, Din Jarin has been Grogu's dad for a while but.... It's the validation and public acknowledgment from Clan Mando, that hits you in the feels.
The air fight reminds me of something Bo-Katan said to Ezra in Rebels when he said their weapons were down:
"A Mandalorian with a jetpack IS a weapon".
Bo Katan is one of my favorites in Star Wars, so I loved this season. Filoni never does anything accidentally.
“I LOVE SHIPS AND SPACE SHIT! 😤” haha damn right! love you for that!
This feels like the perfect point for a big time jump.
a lot of people are saying The Spies (aside from Gideon and Kane) refers to the team of Mandos that initially went down with Bo-Katan to scout the planet - based on the biblical story of Moses sending 12 spies, 1 member of each tribe, to explore Canaan to see if it was safe and bountiful for the Israelites to settle there.
My favorite part was Bo-Katan vs Moff Gideon. I’m sad that she lost the dark saber, but she got to unleash her inner rage. I’m also hyped that we got IG-11 back and upgraded.
I'm ok with the dark saber being gone, it's like a new beginning for them all.
Tho as long as the kyber crystal isn't destroyed the dark saber can be fixed tho.
@@TheRubberDuck77 it would take a Jedi to do that wouldn't it? Grogu's future blade crystal?
So all he needs is that young widow woman from the sanctuary planet in Season 1 to complete the picture.
Finally, another person that got it right you’re absolutely right about the spies 👍
That is an interesting theory. I never knew about that
I just love watching the ships!
@@heteroclitusThis head canon is amazing to me and no wonder the fan base is so divided.
Oh when Grogu saved mando and Bo by using the force, reminded me when Kanan saved Hera the same way❤️🤗
The Mando fleet had exited space and gone into the upper atmosphere right above the storm, so Axe and the others didn't have to go into space. This is why there is no typical "reentry" flames as they are entering the atmosphere.
The ships can "hover" like a landspeeder. So they're only like 30 or 40 miles up from the surface.
Grogu said "yall think im trapped in here with you!? NO YALL TRAPPED IN HERE WITH ME!"
When you jumped when Gideon’s clone’s eyes opened that was priceless!!!
Grogu jumping up on the bar eating pork rinds.
Congrats on hitting 50 k subs!
Darts, that's the most overlooked opportunity in this episode!
Now THIS is the reaction I’ve been waiting for. Totally loved your video. Great job!
I totally did NOT notice Filoni's cameo at the bar there! Or perhaps it's because he was wearing a - *slightly different* hat. 😂
I mean, I've clearly seen him pilot the X-wing before, but not in the bar scene!
The action in this episode was mind blowing, love the reaction
In the previous episode if Im not mistaken, 12 volunteers came forward to scout the surface of Mandalore with Bo
Its very bittersweet to see the Darksaber go. And as it should be; leadership should be based on strength of character, not the ability to wield a legendary weapon
If there is to be another Mandalorian lightsaber, Id love it to be one that Grogu builds. Either the crystal from the Darksaber is salvaged by the Armorer and given to him to construct and hilt around, or he somehow finds his way to Ilum before its turned into a death ray and destroyed in the events of The Force Awakens
I love your glee for this series Angela. 😊
Actually the total love for the Star Wars franchise hehe.
Wish you well!
I love how excited you are just seeing the Tie fighters drop and launch.
Bo-Katan's song has been written. Like Djinn said in chapter 22 at the end, the more important thing is her Honorable deeds, mainly Returning Mandilore to the Mandalorians.
Looking at the comments, the old saying is still true: No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans
@ 22:50
Mando says he'll adopt him.
In the clone Wars we saw clones fighting in Space with their armor so it makes sense that mandalorian also can survive in Space with their armor
@@darkwyve "Spies" was meant as another word for "Scouts". The strike team that went ahead onto Mandalore.
Another beautiful, genuine reaction. Thank you! Can't wait to see your reactions for the Ahsoka series!
The Dark Saber was always a curse.
They’ve already finished the scripts and are set to start filming in October
The Spies was a word play/mislead. It was a reference to Moses and the 12 Spies, one member of each of the tribes sent ahead of the rest to scout their future settlement land.
'Ships & space shit!' I'm right there with you. This was peak Star Wars, fantastic end to a great season. I almost wish the last 2 episodes were a movie, would love to see it on a big screen!
Legit so happy the Dark Saber is gone so all Mandalorians can move forward without it. It sucks that it's gone, but it makes total sense.
OMG the spy was officially confirmed as Elia Kane. She was spying for Gideon in the beginning of the the episode the spy. No one else is a spy.
This Is The Way!
Amazing how one little extra "S" has caused so much havoc amongst the fan community - and apparently it was all a misdirection (or even an accident?)
What a frenzy
The spies were they secret group that Gideon met with in the episode 7. They were spies for the Empire.
11:39
Mandalorian armor can typically be pressurized and heated for outer space.
20:21
Gideon is tricked out with all the Mando tech, including Mandalorian crushgaunts.
The second spy element that makes for the plural is a biblical parallel between the Mandalorian scouts and the story of the 12 Hebrew spies…
Joshua sent a meme er of each tribe into the promised land before letting everyone cross over. Those 12 are called Joshua’s Spies
Axe wasn't flying to space, the fleet was inside the atmosphere, just above the weather.
Would have been great if the darktroopers were escorting Mando through a hallway, and at a T-junction he would ask "which way?"
And they all lived happily ever after...
In the episode, The Spies, the more than one spy was the obvious Gideon spy, and the Mandalorians themselves, as they went to spy on the planet to see if it was safe to land in force.
don't forget R-5; technically a spy
My work schedule has become exhausting, and I can't even take the time to try to catch the other shows that are currently being made]
As for who placed the tracking device on the Razorcrest.
It's the New Republic (building from the ashes of the Empire, attempting to become what the Old Republic was intended to be)
[Now, on to the episode reaction, as we've put the "previously on" review behind us.]
Fighting with the "Beskar stormtroopers" the whole "He's got a flamethrower too? If they have Whistling Birds..."
I'm going to point out that the stormtroopers are wearing a "Beskar Alloy" based on the fragment found on the transport Gideon had been on. Beskar Steel isn't necessarily the same. An alloy is likely easier to work with, incorporating many but not all the traits of the metal it's made from. And Whistling Birds are not a commonly used implement, I'm thinking that's a secret Gideon has not learned.
10:00-10:02 I love your passion about "Space sh!t" missed that since you reached the end of "The Expanse"
11:10-11:12 "He can go into space with that?"
Not sure if this is canon anymore, but the standard Imperial Stormtrooper armor (assuming they thought to seal their helmets) would keep a trooper alive in space for about half an hour.
Now we shall wait for Ahsoka Series I’m so excited I hope we will meet Mando and Grogu and other Mandalorians
My only thought about "The Spies" is that maybe Elia Kane is a clone, and there are multiple copies of her spying on different planets within the New Republic. Possibly, this will come up again next season.
I loved this amazing episode so much and definitely the best this season !!!
@omni1 does a good explanation of why it's called the spies.. scout teams a long time ago used to be called spies, there's a famous story of Moses and the 12 spies.. the same amount Boka had
I believe spies is an old biblical term that refers to scouts/recon. So the spies are not spies as we think.
21:24- saving man-dad and mom-d'alor; this is the way.
