Awesome. Very concise example of speedsculpt possibilities in the current Blender setup. I've watched seemingly a few hundred of these sort of videos and I know ZBrush and 3DCoat.. yet I walked away from this video having entirely new ideas. The way you added eyelids and the simple mask and shift ear cavity setup is SO simple. Blender really unlocks some great options for efficient and manageable sculpting. The hair drop in is also pretty great. Kudos!
I did on the Blender Cloud: cloud.blender.org/p/speed-sculpting/5ca2363f001f6b3852dee5c8 The files are also available for free if you want to look at the lighting setup in more detail. I also go more in detail on many other topics on the Cloud :)
I never use the elastic deform brush ;) This timelapse came out before that brush existed. I am using a modified version of the snake hook brush that I named "Elastic Hook".
I can only say: A fairly high resolution. I dont start out with the multires modifier so there's no point in naming sub levels. Since I mostly sculpt with the voxel remesher and the detail size is based on the world scale it's impossible to say a voxel size that means anything. If you use dyntopo then I suggest to keep it on 5-8 px on relative detail at first.
It's part of the experimental sculpting features branch and now also officially implemented in the latest builds of Blender 2.81: - blender.community/c/graphicall/Tdbbbc/ - builder.blender.org/download/
It's basically just because of perspective distortion. I am also constantly toggling persp & ortho for that reason. If I would sculpt with dyntopo it would also help for a more consistent resolution when using relative detail.
I use the new remesher from the experimental sculpting branch: blender.community/c/graphicall/Tdbbbc/ It's way faster and powerful than dyntopo for blocking you sculpts but I am occasionally still using dyntopo for resulution differences and using the snake hook brush :)
Sadly no but I am giving tutorials about this on the Blender Cloud that are step by step lessons to follow along: cloud.blender.org/p/stylized-character-workflow
@@JulienKaspart Most workflows i see use Dyntopo, may i re-think my intro to sculpting basics if you use the same technique in Rain's tutorial? Is it me or no retopo is needed?
It's actually the sculpt-mode-features branch for Blender 2.80. It;s still experimental but you can download the latest builds here: blender.community/c/graphicall/Tdbbbc/ The new features will likely be included in the next Blender version of 2.81 :)

Very inspiring!!! Thanks for sharing this with us! : )
Enjoyable sculpting and reallying music for it! Thanks a lot!
this is truly wonderful, I have watched it twice, once at slower speed to get a better Idea of how you are using the Tools. you have a great talent.
dope looking character.
OMG Pablo Dobarro is a BOSS
I remember you being interested in art. I'm glad that you are still going forward with it.
TY for sharing Mr Kasper... Beautiful speed sculpt 👏👏
OMG! you actually doing this speedsculpt! Thank you
Wonderful character and great video process : )
So good! great workflow, please do more!
C'est une belle interprétation, on reconnait très bien le conteur du film “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” It"s beautiful ! ;)
You have true talent
Very interesting see your workflow. Thank you so much
Really awesome
Very nice!!!
Thanks for this video, I learned a lot!
Awesome video!
Can you also show how do you set up your light next time?

@@JulienKaspart Thanks!
Great job.thank you.thank you very much
Hey, awesome video! But I'm just curious as to what Art Tablet you use, If you use any, if so then which do you recommend?
Great work! Harry Melling played Harry's cousin Dudley though, not Neville Longbottom.
I was stuck on making ears (make and inner and an outer ...nice) ...thanks bro ..liked the video..is that Roddy McDowall ??
Very good
How do you keep the entire ball to keep from moving when you're using the elastic deform to pull out the chin? The entire sculpt moves in mine.
I never use the elastic deform brush ;)
This timelapse came out before that brush existed. I am using a modified version of the snake hook brush that I named "Elastic Hook".
@@JulienKaspart ahhh, nice!
how many sub- levels do you start your sphere with?

how do you enable the remesh tool in blender? the one on the right - up corner
It's part of the experimental sculpting features branch and now also officially implemented in the latest builds of Blender 2.81:

thank you :D
i see you start with focal length 80 then go back to the default 50, is there a reason why besides persp distortion?
It's basically just because of perspective distortion. I am also constantly toggling persp & ortho for that reason.
If I would sculpt with dyntopo it would also help for a more consistent resolution when using relative detail.
I want to know how the eye lids were created
Never mind, already got it. Great video, BTW
Noticed you don't use the dynamic topology is it better that way ? :D

@@JulienKaspart sorry but I'm confused about how to install this. I'd love to try it out
@@SiGrossArt You don't install it. Just double click the blender.exe in the folder and it will run :)
@@JulienKaspart see now, it's always what you know you need to do but don't flipping try. Thanks
What’s that brush you used on hair and clothing? It has no icon...
Some brushes were still new new and didn't have an icon. The name of the brush should be in the header though.
와 진짜 조지게 잘만드시네요
Ficou muito bom
How many years of practice did it take to get to this skill level?
Do you have a non timelapse version of this video im updating my blender and i would like to follow along
Sadly no but I am giving tutorials about this on the Blender Cloud that are step by step lessons to follow along:
cloud.blender.org/p/stylized-character-workflow
@@JulienKaspart alright thanks ; )
Hit the options menu in the video and slowdown the playback speed to .25x
Do you use multiresolution, or just increase remesh density?
I increased the density
@@JulienKaspart Most workflows i see use Dyntopo, may i re-think my intro to sculpting basics if you use the same technique in Rain's tutorial? Is it me or no retopo is needed?
@@DavidBoura For the stylised character course I'll use dyntopo since these new features are in no official release yet.
@@JulienKaspart Thank you Julien, seeing this technique here is very interesting btw.
Julien Kaspar hi, what is the remedy actually used for?
nice
О боже, мне нужны твои уроки....Ты бесподобен...
where can i find this new sculpting system ?
It's Blender 2.8. :)

👌
same as zbrush. I need basic sculpting tutorial in blender.
What tools are you using Julien, pad etc
With this one: A cheap Wacom Intuos M BT actually. You don't need super expensive hardware to create something good.
@@JulienKaspart Thanks.
now imagine if he forgot to click on the record button
How do you do so fast? you're really fast!
