    For anyone wondering how he duplicated/mirrored the ears/eyes/body parts. There's a modifier called "Mirror". He used only the X-Axis and under "Object Mode" clicked "Object" -> "Set Origin" -> "Origin to 3D Cursor" so that everything would spawn in it's mirrored location. Took me like 20 mins to figure out, so I'm leaving this comment in case I forget again lol.

      @Opiis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      It's physically impossible to create this character in 5 minutes, maybe 20-30 providing you follow every single exact step. That's if you're already an expert at each individual step specifically to this character. This means you'd have to have practiced this same model who knows how many times in order to get it to under 300 seconds, which is just pure insanity. (I'm nowhere close to a professional on this matter, there's a good chance it would be much longer than 30 minutes. Maybe more, maybe less. I'm just trying to use common sense here) He clearly meant the length of the video, which is sped up to 4x or 5x speed.
      Sorry for the long comment, im just bored

I get everything you're saying, and see how you're doing what you're doing. I'm really excited that one day I might have done enough practice to be this confident in working on characters! Right now I'm focused on backgrounds, but this is definitely an avenue I want to go down.

  • @matthewlloyd3255

    That looks so much easier to do than how I used to have to make models 10-20 years ago - we used to have to create individual vertices everywhere, triangulate them, split edges, and work at the individual triangle level. Obviously a lot lower polygon than what you're doing. But I always hated having to try and get the eyes, nose and lips working from merely building up a mesh vertex/triangle by triangle.

    • @raven75257

      Most people don't realize just how important lightning is. If you make the most beautiful landscape with ton of the tiniest details, but your lightning is badly set up, all that detail will be lost, and your landscape will look ugly. And vice-versa
      Good or bad lightning can change everything

Also, if Blender had a fully featured VR mode, or if Medium had a feature set more like Blender, I think I'd be in heaven.

      I struggle with this too, and honestly I think the key is to have fun. Sure we want to show people, but what if we just do it for fun and maybe show nobody? If you WANT to do still lives, cool, practice a few. But if that sounds like a chore, it's gonna be hard to kick your own butt into doing it. • @brokenboat9655
      @brokenboat9655 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm pretty sure with shorter ones like these, he doesn't worry about it too much. If you really want one with nice topology, which may be useful if you want to import it into a game or similar and need better performance, the process used is called retopology which is effectively where you go over the whole model with a new mesh. This gives you a lot more control over which areas have what sort of resolution but it is a really long, repetitive process. Take a look at YanSculpts' tutorial he did a couple of years ago.
