White dress: tailor into two separates or sell?
I'd sell it. Tailoring doesn't always end up working out and then you might be stuck with two pieces you still don't like and will be harder to sell.
It’s a nice dress, but I think you should let it go. I agree that you need to show more skin.
The white dress looks so good on you though!!! The muscle tank cut of the top looks great with your bare arms 💪🏻 but I agree, with the leather jacket theres not enough skin anymore. If you don't feel comfortable, sell it.
I think sell. I agree with someone above that it's not guaranteed that you'll like the two piece and it's better off to just let it go.
Don't sell it. The dress it's beautiful. But I do agree, you need to taylor it, but I would do it in a different way. It would look so nice if you made the dress shorter, that way it would show more skin as well and balanced the look
I’m really appreciating these styling > shopping videos! So many creators who talk about slow fashion end up buying so much (and encouraging so much consumption). It feels like you’re genuinely committed to being more intentional about your consumption while still loving and enjoying fashion. Thank you!
I’m not sure it’s true 😂 feels like since the end of her no/low buy she basically updated her entire wardrobe. A lot of new shoes, bags, bottoms and tops over the last year
If we just look at the shoes she acquired sambas, cowboy boots, several different ballet flats, some kitten heels and that’s just what I can remember off of the top of my head
@@svetlanadreher7190 I have to admit I don’t closely follow what’s in her wardrobe! But I do think she’s updated her style in the last few years, and there’s nothing wrong with them. If you love fashion, there’s a careful balance between intentionally updating your wardrobe vs over consuming. I have no idea where Christina really is on that spectrum since it’s her money to spend
But I do think compared to other creators who talk slow fashion then do ‘hauls’ or ‘how to update your wardrobe for ___’ or push lots of affiliate links, she’s trying to be more mindful
@@msleeeee sure, it’s ok, I just think she buys quite a lot for a slow fashion too. I don’t follow many content creators so I don’t know who you are referring to who buys more and does hauls etc. She doesn’t market it as hauls but then she can have a ‘styling’ video featuring a bunch of new KOTTN items (or whatever the brand is). So to me it’s tomato/to-mah-to. But she’s fun to watch and she needs to make money. I just don’t consider it not many for a slow fashion creator, just not many in terms of fashion in general.
The white dress fits nicely. I say just wear it as a casual summer dress with leather sandals and some bangles and don’t overthink it.
Take the scalloped top to a tailor and get another set of ties put on it. It will feel more secure and you will wear it more
My thoughts exactly! Then it won't hang so flat and square at the bottom as well.
Super good idea, would support it a lot.
The camo pants plus the first backless top and the heels would be an awesome look!
Agreed I've just said the same 😊
I had exactly the same thought.
Destiny's Child anyone?
Oh that’d be so cute!
The Love to buy & hate to wear category is so relatable. One of mine is a full skirt which doesn’t work with my body
Great video topic! My new mantra is going to be, "if I own it, I'm wearing it." If I'm honest I'm reaching past pieces often - not because they're bad or don't work - but out of a sort of mental laziness. I like other pieces better and I've already done the work of figuring out how to style them with what I own. The pieces I bought mainly because I wanted to have them - well once I got the conquests home they have tended to sit on the shelf or hanger for me to admire, but rarely to wear. No more. Thanks for the inspiration and kick in the butt Christina!
Love this so much!
Great video, Christina. I think the black halter, fish scale top would look great with your black silk maxi (or maybe it’s midi?) skirt…. you’d definitely need to go out somewhere! Love those black sling backs you wore with the denim outfit. Your vintage Levi’s look terrific on you!😍
Would love a strappy sandal with the camo pants - maybe with a top that has the same strappy vibe. Love the video concept!
And push the elastic ankles up a bit.
Your Monstera plant is gorgeous and keeps stealing the limelight :) I am watching your outfits but then also staring at your plant.
The “going out” top with the camo pants - I think would be cool. 😎
Agree that was my thought.
I agree with you on the white dress, too sweet and like you said , milkmaid! Sell it .
Yes, sell it to me
The first top could use another string in the waist area that could be sewn DIY. It would give you more shape and I was visioning it with a white elegant fitted cardigan
Turn the white dress around and wear the tie open at the neck!! Instant neck skin! And get it shortened. You need more skin at the ankle to balance out all that fabric. Definitely a keep!!
Uncertain about the keep for your personal style but definitely think it could do with shortening so it hits mid calf. Perhaps a waistcoat would work for a structured layering piece?
Going out top over a white button down would be a super cool alternative to a vest.
I like that idea!
This is such a great idea. I have so many pieces of clothes that I have bought over the years, and I haven't worn them yet. ❤
Would you consider wearing a sweater over the white dress for fall! You could still wear the boots, and all of the top of the dress would be covered by a crewneck sweater. Thanks for the video!❤
Your shoulders are looking absolutely incredible.. ❤ The muscles are popping!
Wear the first top over a tank or white button down and it would look great with the camo joggers
I think turning the white dress into a top and skirt would be such a cool project!
I can't tell you how much I love the boots❤❤❤❤!
Thank you for being so real about your challenges with clothes and I am so glad I am not alone in having things in my closet that haven’t been worn. Definitely going to do this and try styling some things and see how it goes.
The denim with the stripe poplin top would be a great casual outfit as well!
This is exatly what I thought 👍, and I would then tuck in only 1 half in front 😊
I say don’t get rid of any of your vintage Levi’s if they fit you and you look good in them. The jeans trends come and go-skinnies, cargo, barrel leg, wide leg, boot cut-but Levi’s 501s and similar are classic and are always cool. Put them in a trunk for now and pull them out when you’re feeling the vibe for them again vs selling them and then hunting for them and spending money on them all over again!!
Hi Christina! I love the white dress. You have a great idea of tailoring the dress into two separate pieces. I would have the tailor add a larger waist band on the skirt. Bamb! Game changer!
I would try it with the sambas you have first:) it will show ankles, so it could be a bit lighter but at the same time you will have a closed shoe so you wont be cold
You could even take the dress apart and make the top slightly cropped to show skin and still wear it with the skirt...a matching set
Thank you for this content & encouragement to try styling unworn items before passing them on. 😊❤️
You should totally wear the first top more. Both of the first two outfits, with the jeans and trousers, were cute. Plus, you’ve worked so hard and your back. Why not show it off?
the first backless top would be a GREAT "holiday" piece as well! Especially since so many events are temperature controlled ed once you're there. Paired with a statement bag, or statement earrings, or a red lip!
The camo pants with your black tube top and the silver ballet flats would be a great look.
The button down with shorts was my favorite. And sunglasses are a must with each outfit. I would like to try it with a plain white sneaker also.
Hi Christina, I would color the white dress in … black and combine it with black sneakers 😊
This is exactly the inspiration I needed to try to mix and match my current wardrobe to get the most out of my collection! Keep the inspo coming!
I think the camouflage nylon trousers need either a cropped blazer or a waist length jacket because of how baggy they are to balance it out a bit ❤ the white dress with the leather jacket in a British summer you would wear that outfit the summer we have had this year i might as well have not brought my summer wardrobe out and just left it in storage we're still waiting for dress weather and its mid July in 2024 im watching this and its getting to shops putting out autumn stuff already 😂
Could you maybe make a deep v-neck on the white dress? I dont know if it would work with the kind of ruffeled material, but if it does i think that would look really nice on you❤
You rock that backless top! Your back muscles are 🔥 🔥
I also really appreciate your word choices e.g. “gained mass” and “athletics legs”. Descriptive without any judgement. It encourages me to work with my body without picking it apart. ❤
I love your layering necklaces. It seems it was born to elevate any outfits.
When I saw the "milkmaid" dress, I can totally see you wearing a nonfussy leather harness to bring some edge to it.
Love this video and the outfits. Agree about seeing if the dress could become a top and a skirt to introduce skin at the midriff.
great Video. can you do a Part 2, where you Tell US how you integrated the pieces you kept and which Outfits you really wore out and about?
Love this idea!
What I enjoy doing with my dresses is tucking the top part inside, effectively folding the dress to transform it into a skirt. Another way to style the dress would be layering it with a shirt, tying the front of the shirt, and pairing the outfit with sneakers or ballet flats.
Could 1000% see the white dress with a tight leather corset on top!!! Hope that’s helpful!
Great idea.
Love this!!!! I need to do this with my own pieces I always skip over :D
The white dress: wear a long and light weight black vest over it with black sneakers. Or remove the sleeves from a button down shirt (even a man’s shirt) and maybe knot the bottom hem together. A pendant necklace will cut a V- neck shape over the top.
Omg you look AMAZING in those jeans. I know you literally say you prefer them looser but wow!!
Oh and I totally agree with you on the jean fit! My hips and thighs are bigger and once I started sizing up I just felt so much more comfortable, like “ahh, this is how jeans should feel” 😊
Those camp joggers look so good on you- seriously great silhouette on you!!!
I need to start doing this with the small section of clothing I have in my closet that I never wear but also didn’t want to declutter. Seeing how I feel in them out in the world and if I feel comfortable or not would definitely help with decision making!
he variety of textures in the DUPBAGY pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Great video. I think sometimes like for the white dress maybe hair, make up and jewelry would balance it out. No need for the jacket
Good experiment. But I did like the white dress on you with the biker jacket.
I know it’s not usually your style, but I think it looks really cute on you❤
I loved the blue and white button up one. I'd just wear that every day.
The first top, you can wear it casual with a button up shirt over it
Cool contrast!
This is a great idea! It help me realize how blind I’ve become to my problem children Lolol 😊👍🏻
I’d say belt the white dress and wear as is! It’s beautiful and doesn’t need to be so layered with jackets. It stands on its own! Also, love the jeans on you and how you tied it all together!
Those jeans look 10000000x better on you than the very baggy jeans! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Haha my thighs and bum are not used to them! 😆
The scalloped top is perfect for a date night.
I wouldnt cover it with a blazer or anything.
It really is perfect for summer.
Yes! An excellent exercise I should commit to doing. Too often I just buy, buy, buy without pausing to really examine my wardrobe and ensure I'm getting the most out of my closet --and money!
“I’m definitely a Miranda when it comes to style and cynicism.’ Yes!!!
I think wearing that dress backwards would be awesome. The keyhole back would look great open in the front and styled just as you did with those fab thrifted boots and jackets. It’s feeling windy cool summer night
And when I saw that super cool backless halter, I’d immediately thought of that late 90s look of layering a halter over a tiny shrunken baby tee. It would look great with those wide leg cuffed jeans or the trousers (or a long black skirt)
Great ideas Christina! As always! 😊👏🏻
Wow you're shoulders/decolletage looks amazing! 😍
I think wearing that dress backwards would be awesome. The keyhole back would look great open in the front and styled just as you did with those fab thrifted boots and jackets. It’s feeling windy cool summer night
You could also style it with a big crewneck over it as if it’s a skirt.
And when I saw that super cool backless halter, I’d immediately thought of that late 90s look of layering a halter over a tiny shrunken baby tee. It would look great with those wide leg cuffed jeans or the trousers (or a long black skirt)
Omg the going out top outfit is sooo cute!
I love the white dress, I didn’t see the back, I sometimes turn dresses round for a v neck front etc. Sometimes works. X
Maybe it’s a weird idea, but I would wear the white dress, with the back part on the front (if it’s possible…and if it’s not showing too much skin!)
Interesting video. I would try the white dress with a sweater (cropped) with ankle boots for fall. Or the striped shirt on top, but folded and tied at the waist. I see someone suggested, getting a second tie added to your scalloped top, you’ll feel more comfortable. Wear it with your camp pants and heels.
15:20 Those 501s still look great on you - you should keep them! Thanks for understanding!
This is so inspiring 😍 I so much loved how you styled Bevza top, looks really gorgeous on you ❤ I am going to try to style my tailored items for my completely changed lifestyle “from big city into a small town” 🙌🏻
I understand that feeling completely. Sometimes I feel like I completely overdress, then I think of Iris Appel and I want to be totally decadent! Lol ❤
Love this exercise
Love the denim on denim look. The shoes really elevate the look.
the leather and white dress with sandals works well in San Francisco in the summer =)
I loved the camo and white shirt outfit and the double denim outfit. The striped shirt outfit looked good too! Love how you can put things together. I used to think there was something wrong with me when outfits didn't look right but it really is a matter of playing with things sometimes to find the best look.
Great video!Like military pants with white button up very much!!The white dress doesn't feel like you imo.❤😊
What about a black corset over the white dress. Like the idea of shortening it. Could you put thicker straps (ribbon) on the fish scale top? Could you style the fishscale over the dress? Like the white top with camo. Love the levis that fit. Have you forced yourself to actually wear the styles outside and vlog how you feel in it? Then youd know for sure if its a yes or no.
All looks were gorgeous in styling and on you. Loved watching. Thanks for
I loved the Camo pants with the white shirt and light shoes. Very nice!
I would sell white dress. It doesn’t seem “you”. Jeans looked really good!
Great idea / inspiration to style pieces I don’t reach for. Thanks Christina!
Great video, love the inspiration to go back and try some of the things I love but don’t wear! And IMHO, the white dress would be perfect as a skirt!
I actually like the dress with leather jacket look. I often wear dresses with leather jacket during summer when I'm going out for drinks early evening and as the night progresses it gets a bit colder.
I loved this video. Perfect topic. I think lots of use have things we tend to skip wearing and need to try ! I appreciated hearing your thoughts about why you bought the items, why you haven’t worn them and what you think about them going forward.
The denim on denim got me CHOCKED! Looks sooo good, putting it in my inspo folder right now ⭐️ Also love the Oxford shirt outfit
12"02 omg Im in love with that outfit
Loved the first and the last outfit! ❤
..The camo not so much😊
Uufff the blue button up shirt❤❤❤ give it to me🥰😍🤣 and here i am, having to stop myself from not buying every button up shirt that i love, i love them😊 thats my look in summer, button up shirt, tank top/ tshirt and pants/jeans 😁 and i have a few than i am dying to wear when it gets colder😁 the jeans at the end look very nice on you,if you would like to bring casualness to the look, you can roll them 1-2 😊 xo
My favorite is the camo joggers. Loved the way you styled them. The shoes were so unexpected but worked wonderfully. This was a great video. I can't wait to go through my items that I hardly wear. Ditch the white dress and blue jeans.
The last outfit looks amazing.
love this so much! lots of good ideas here. looking forward to more of these videos! I'd get tid of the dress TBH
My nicest, fanciest clothing is my biggest challenge as they are pricier items I don't wear often. This means they last for years. I worry about them going out of style or stop fitting over time.
The first going out top would be good layered over the fitted tanks you wear. Or even over a fitted, thin, black long sleeve tee. I would just treat it as a vest. On jeans, I've found vintage Lee are a better fit for athletic legs/hips. Wrangler and Levi's are a slimmer cut.
I feel like the white dress would look awesome with a harness or under boob corset over it.
I have the "white dress" situation happen to me all the time. You see it on someone else and then buy it thinking it'll work for you. I'm really learning I can appreciate different styles on others without buying it for myself. That is what I think happened with the white dress. I say separate it to make a skirt that you will wear. Great video!
Everything looks great on you!!! 😊
That blue and white stripe button down--back in the early 2000s those were super in style, look up episodes of Will and Grace from that era, she did a fun look with a long string of pearls that I remember rocking, it was so fun and classy at the same time.
With slightly slimmer jeans, especially in the spring and summer, I often cuff them to bring in that bit of skin and a breezier feel. Something you might consider trying with your Levi’s as another option.
My favorite is the vintage Levi’s . They look good on you.
❤thanks for the mega dose of inspiration again, Christina as I was finishing up my weekly rack. With 2 pants and 2 tops that I have not worn this season or last. Some real floaters. And by golly, I’m starting to get the hang of this. My off 5th Ave snake skin joggers, black BR 90’s tank, soft pink thrifted men’s button down and thrifted BR linen trousers worked right in. You have my word that I will wear it and see 😊 if it’s a repeater or 😮
omg stitches 🥺 throw back! I love these videos I feel inspired
When you referenced Stitches I had such a flash back 😝
I loved this video - I just decided I will do that with some of my clothes & shoes.
The white dress I would tailor into 2 pieces.
The camo pants would look awesome with some black heels, a white tank and those cool large sharp line sunglasses. Bring the moto jacket for added cool :)
