for inspiration, i totally recommend using other forms of media instead of just pinterest primarily! old movies, music videos, picture books, magazines/catalogs from other eras, etc etc. it really helps :) love the video
yesss my recent style inspiration is Sharona from the ‘00s tv show Monk, it’s so random but her style is kinda like Lorelai in Gilmore Girls but slightly more grown and slightly more Jersey Girl lol
The old school inspiration. Previous generations went through most of their trends, fads, and crazes after everyone saw the same movie, tv show, or music video.
😊Yes! Find media inspiration that speaks directly to you & is applicable to your current wardobe. ❤Love Ali McGraw in the film 🎞Love Story. Adored her high/low contrast. How they mixed working class items (like tees, Henleys, knit beanie caps, sneakers, leather jackets, etc.) w/Sarah Lawrence old money classic preppy items (lots of a-line skirts, some plaid pleated skirts, & even some pencil skirts). Her style was always highly feminine, but it contrasted pleasantly w/boyish, blue collar edge. She often borrowed sporty 🧣Harvard gear from her beau too. Also like how comfy, casual, & feminine that they often styled Monica on 📺Friends. They frequently put her in shorter above the knee pencil & a-line skirts. ☀️In Summer w/tees & sneakers as well as in slouchy cropped jumpers w/matching tights & booties in Winter❄️. 😉Collected a lot of quality suits from my corporate days that I still love, but need a way to fit them into my considerably more casual lifestyle. In my extreme hot climate🥵, blazers are restricted to inside bldgs that blast AC🥶 or when the🌡mercury drops to low 70s or lower outside ⬇️. Otherwise, even lightweight blazers are tough to tolerate in LA. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
i actually really love the second stylist. i love that she tried to go back to fundamentals and help you build an outfit from the bottom up. my own style is very basic and understated- i don’t tend to layer or wear patterns together but i do pay a lot of attention to making sure a basic outfit is cohesive and put together, and i feel like she’s given me a lot of inspo !
This must have been so much work! First putting all your cloths into the app and then trying on 20 outfits in front of the camera. Totally worth it and appreciated, had so much fun watching! Would totally love to see more of these videos where you get styled by someone else through the app (now that your wardrobe is already uploaded it should be easier!)
Sometimes I feel like the outfits don't look that good compared to how they look on the app but damn this time it was the complete opposite they slayed honesty
I actually loved the mary janes with the long skirt! When you were standing still, it was a perfect slightly quirky, classy look and every time you moved, you had the flash of the mary jane that makes it seem that much more interesting. The hat and sunglasses were such a perfect choice!
Both stylists did a great job of putting outfits together for you! I am really excited to see how you use what they supplied to you for future outfits.
I love seeing a personal stylist video where you are using clothes you already have! It is so easy to basically rebuy your whole wardrobe every season, but these outfits feel personal, charming, and lived in!
The first stylist was so on point, but I especially love the birthday cake shirt and Hawaiian shirt outfit so much. If that wasn't in the thumbnail I probably wouldn't have watched this specific video.
I think they both did really well, the first one leaned more playful and the second more minimal but I really liked most of the outfits and it just depends on your mood which way you lean.
alexa i would love to see a video where you reference your old style and do an updated “what i would wear” using the same or similar pieces but styling them in your current fashion sense
the first stylist's fits were so fresh, creative and unique! my fave were 1. the red leather jacket with the black mini skirt 2. the overalls with the open button down 3. the red bandana with the graphic tee and fruit button down. the second stylist created simpler, more basic outfits that felt like they were trying to be too trendy imo.
I was waaaaiting for you to do an Indyx video. I've fallen down the rabbit hole ever since I saw Beepworld's video 😂 I haven't even catalogued all of my clothes yet because I'm doing it in stages as to not get overwhelmed and I'm already seeing my wardrobe in a different light
I let my bestie make outfits for me all the time on there! Good luck with the cataloging though, I took pictures non-stop for an entire month and it definitely took a toll on my back.
this was fun! i thought both stylists did well considering they don't follow u at all. aimee's work felt more aligned with ur personal style tho :) i'm also in the process of digitising my wardrobe, but it is overwhelming. lol.
Yesss these outfits were so good and such a fun video!!! Would love to see your friends / other fashion TH-camrs style you like Lani, Liz, and Carrie!! ❤
I absolutely loved this video, my favorite types of videos are styling videos. It's interesting when someone else raids your closet (especially since your closet is very colorful. print heavy, versatile, and it's pretty big) because other people put things together in a way you wouldn't think which is helpful for getting out of your rut or routine with your clothes. One way I get inspired is through people watching and seeing people who are fashionable out in public at coffee shops, social events, or just on the street. I like that method because they're just normal people and it helps curb that desire to buy more things because of pinterest, it also helps me appreciate personal style a lot more rather than just being like trendy.
I love that you’re talking about this because I’ve felt the same way recently. It’s definitely partially because summer is just more difficult to style for, but I also think it’s just kind of fashion fatigue? It’s definitely related to the microtrends and stuff.
I adored this video! It's so fun to have other people play with your wardrobe to see what they come up with :) I've also been using a digital clothing app for a bit now to just track my outfits every day and that's also very insightful to me. I love creating ideas in the app too because it gets you out of your normal routine a little. I could keep watching video's like this one so if you're up for it, please do more 🖤
I love this video. I feel you could do more like this, maybe your followers could style you? I know I´d love to style you as I really like some of your clothes but have a very different style being from another country.
My style is neutral, chic, small pops of color… But wow, I actually love the sandal/jean/cake baby tee look. It’s so fun and whimsical!! I’m rlly happy u kept an open mind, this was such a fun vid
The first stylist ate with every outfit !! Honestly no shade but I feel like the outfits of the second one were too simple for me to feel like it’s worth it
I have not seen the part of 2nd stylist yet and I got to the comment section because I couldn’t stop my self from commenting how the stylist 1 has created beautiful outfits for you and I am already inspired from it. You really look stunning in all those beautiful outfits she created. ❤ I hope you take those elements and experiment in future outfit videos 😊
The first stylist really nailed the 90s. I loved through them the first time and I was like that’s exactly what everyone was wearing. AND I think they all really matched you.
I loved this video! I'm going to try to get my friends to style some of my stuff by sending them photos of my stuff laid out on my bed and on hangers from the wardrobe. Ballin' on a budget but also a nice way for me and my 42 year old besties to live our Cher dreams. Iconic film! Ah, Alexa, what a great idea. I'm packing to go to Glasgow, UK on a city break this week and I've just swapped out a few bits cos I've had better outfit ideas. ❤🎉
I love the second stylists looks! I lean very monochrome and classic, while still playing with fun pieces. I will 100% be keeping an eye out for something similar to that green cardigan.
LEOPARD PANT AND HELLO KITTY SOCKS IS 11/10! The gingham shorts/converse/oversized denim jacket outfit is so good, looks great with the glasses. Those are my two faves from Aimee!
I LOVED the outfit with the red jacket, graphic tee, and the skirt! I think they took your normal style and elevated it (no offense!) The dress with the animal print pants was probably the only look I wasn't a fan of and I think the outfit right after, which you didn't love, works better together.
This was a fun video with some really cute ideas! Can you do a what I wear in a week video/vlog and do some fun activities. I love your personal style.
Amazing video!! I would love more of these especially for us plebians who cannot afford a stylist. I'm going through a "I hate everything in my wardrobe" phase and videos like these always make me appreciate the clothes I DO have and to look at them in a new light. Also, the first stylist was STYLING.
I liked the 2nd stylist's outfits a lot! I think the first stylist has more of a maximalist vibe, and the 2nd stylist wasn't exactly minimalist but a little more balanced between those two spectrums. The 2nd stylists outfits were generally more practical and while the 1st stylist focused more on the eccentric. For every day wear, I totally loved the 2nd stylists choices and the direction she took them in.
Feel the first stylist outfits were great! Complimented your style but with her style in mind. Pushed your normal boundaries. Really liked the floral dress with the dark vest. Think that outfit was my favorite one for your first stylist. 10 out of 10. The second stylist I liked that she provided multiple options. I liked the plaid green with jeans the best. Think she has more comfy casual style. Overall 10 out of 10. Think both complimented your style, in different ways, but gave you some ideas to play around with your wardrobe.
You could put the bows on your hair on the straps of your dresses/tops! I think that would spice up summer fits frr, also the stylists did such a good job, especially the 1st one
Loved this video so much!! I completely relate to how you’re feeling, I’ve been in the same pattern with just continually being on Pinterest and thinking my closet needs something new and different instead of figuring out how to style the amazing pieces I already have. This was so much fun to watch and so inspiring! And the stylists crusheddddd it
One of my fave videos of yours all year! I appreciate how you try different things and keep it fresh. I also appreciated the relateability of feeling pressured to buy/consume more when being on pinterest too much ❤i feel like that on insta and it made me seriously purge people i followed that made me feel like my closet wasnt enough ❤❤❤
i loved every outfit that Amy put together, i was only iffy about the dress with the black/brown vest and mary jane’s and then the sporty outfit! every other outfit she did was AMAZING
I though the first stylist nailed it except the maxi skirt. Good price $120. The second was expensive I thought would not have paid that match for ten outfits. Like the leopard outfits though especially the red top with leopard & the green plaid jacket. The green plaid jacket I would have thought she'd put it with your gorgeous green cowboy boots with a denim or black pleated skirt.❤
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this experience! I loved how 90s all of the first stylists' looks were - they all seemed so Buffy the Vampire Slayer appropriate to me - but also the more back-to-the-basics stripped-down styles from the second stylist seemed so cool and classic. This really got my wheels spinning about how to style my own clothes.
