Something that really stuck out to me from the beginning with this show is how Stella and Bloom didn't meet first. In the cartoon Stella and Bloom met first, their friendship was important. The friendship of all the girls is the main focus. But here Bloom met Sky first which was very telling about where they were taking this.
For sure, they went more in the romance direction
yea they destroyed bloom and stella friendship with that awful love triangle. Stella always had brandon and never went for sky in the cartoon. Stella and bloom first encounter is how bloom found out she was a fairy and adopted. Stella got her into the magic school. They were besties. Another thing they changed is that tecna & flora were in season 1 of the cartoon. Aisha came in on season 2.
They also completely destroyed the Stella and Bloom friendship by making Stella the stereotypical mean girl towards Bloom. She was meant to be a subversion of that trope
@@carriel9954 Not to mention the Brandon felt really bad for lying about being a Prince, but Stella even says in the end of season one that they celebrate that he isn't a Prince and that doesn't care one bit about that! Stella was a genuinely loving girl and a great friend. A little impulsive and clumsy, yes, but still a lovely person!
@@CrystalGoddess90 yea they completely changed stella's personality and fashion sense. I wish they would have kept her personality like the original. Because honestly making the rich white girl with blonde hair the "mean girl" is a tired stereotype.
In regards of costumes-they did terra dirty. It makes me so so mad, because plus size doesn’t mean you can’t have style.

Oh I got incredible sad when Terra didn't had the chance of using a beautiful prom dress on the ball when all the other girls did, I just don't understand

I feel like they made Terra rude and snappy towards Flora for no reason, acting all jealous. Bloom was stupid the whole season, extremely annoying. The worst part: Beatrix! I find her character interesting and I really hope she’ll be in season 3!
From what I read you obviously didn't pay attention to the show.
I feel like they made Terra gay to almost say "Yeah she's too fat for any of the guys to be interested in her so let's just make her into girls." Had it been fleshed out more than I could've seen it better but it was SUPER rushed and out of nowhere.
What I hate most about Fate is that all the winx are rude and unlikable. I couldn’t stand Terra in season one and she was even worse during season 2, her coming out does not make up for her attitude and behavior. Bloom is cocky and self centered and Musa struggling with her magic got old incredibly fast.
Terra is such a Karen, then instead of making her more interesting and giving her a better storyline, they just made her gay and called it a day. Like that’s not how sexuality works Netflix, you don’t just wake up and decide your gay. Jesus
I’d argue Terra was the most friendly in the first season. Everyone else aside Aisha are so rude and Musa half the time completely ignored Terra. I don’t care her powers are more sensitive and give her headaches, Musa felt so antisocial around Terra but not with the other girls.
I was SO mad about Stella. She always was such an original character, she was a blonde, rich, pretty princess and back in the day most shows would go for the spoiled, bratty, mean girl trope (surprise surprise, what Netflix did) BUT Winx gave her an actual personality and despite her flaws she was a ride or die friend, kind, funny and brave fairy, despite being feminine and fashionable. Her stereotypically girly interests didn't make her less strong or less capable, so much for women empowerment and they literally failed at the most basic elements. Not even commenting on the Musa and Flora casting, I don't know what is most offensive really, the blatant whitewashing or the clear damage control by bringing in the 'actual' Flora later on, still pretending like Musa was not supposed to be asian.
Overall the second season gets better, but it still looks like a sloppy caricature of the OG thing.
Exactly. I loved Stella, she was so amazing in the cartoon, she was my favorite character next to Musa and Techna (I don't even wanna talk about Techna not being on the show 😠😡) and together with the specialists those 3 couples were my favorite. So you can imagine how pissed I was with season 1 with Stella's attitude and the love triangle (stupid love triangle) I couldn't even watch the full season. I did watch S2 and I liked it, it is better, but I watched it as a show based on the cartoon, not as an adaptation, because it's not.

similarly to how daphne Blake from Scooby do is , rich and feminine but uses her femininity to help them out of situations like having a Bobby pin to pick the lock of something along those lines .
If I'm being honest I don't care for any of the girls casted for fate except bloom. They completely ruined stella character and her friendship with bloom. Stella is the reason bloom got into the magic school. Bloom meeting stella is how she found out about magic and that she was adopted. The actress for musa really irks me because she looks nothing like her. She doesn't even look asian imo. Flora and aisha looks nothing like the original either. Aisha in fate is too serious and has a chip on her shoulder. The fashion in fate is horrible. It's hard for me to picture the actresses in fate as the characters on of my favorite shows as a kid.
Exactly! Stella was basically the Elle Woods of the group and like her, is why we loved Stella! Instead they made her a typical Regina George caricature. I hate it 🙄
@I have no personality outside my sexuality stella was never the mean girl. She might have been bratty but she was kind to everyone.
One of the biggest annoyances I have is that when the YA genre writes fairies, there's rarely ever any massive cultural, societal, and aesthetic differences. Fairies are just humans with magic and wings (and in Fate 99% of the population doesn't have wings).The Otherworld is literally one of the most unmagical fantasy realms I've ever seen. It just looks like some random little village in Europe. Certainly beautiful but in no way fantastical and magical. Fate's fairies makes references they absolutely shouldn't know, instead of from their own cultures, which is very jarring and world-breaking. There's no societal or foundational differences whatsoever to make Bloom, and the viewers, truly feel like she's in a whole new dimension. If someone was to do another live action version of Winx I will need them to go all in with the high fantasy (and scifi elements). I need genuine creativity and some truly stunning visuals because this could be a phenomenal series if done properly.

@@ginowin3762 I know a lot of choices were probably due to budget constraints but the lack of creativity really bothers me. It's frustrating to see something you know could be amazing not be at its full potential. I wish they got someone who appreciated the world of Winx for what it was, someone who could rise up to the challenge and produce something iconic even if a limited budget was the main issue.
@@dejajade6726 right! But it just feels like they didn’t even try to keep the fantasy aesthetic😭 idk if you’ve seen the Netflix movie Do Revenge, but even while I was watching that I wished the aesthetic of that movie was something that was seen in Fates instead of Riverdale 2.0
@@ginowin3762 I literally just did and I had the exact same thought. Movies like Do Revenge, Promising Young Woman, and Jawbreaker all had insanely colorful aesthetics and fashion while addressing serious and mature topics. I mean Euphoria was right there! It's sad that Fate fell victim to the Riverdaleification trend and I really hope it dies out soon. The world needs to heal.
I always die when they start up those trucks... Why is Alfea in another realm if people are just going to drive BMWs and Range Rovers? How is it at all different when people still use instagram, netflix and airbnb? It's cringe
Flora was my favorite from the cartoons and I was devastated that she wasn’t in season 1 so I was already turned off by watching it. Love your reviews!
Flora seemed to try to help but failed
I hate how they presented sky and bloom as some kind of soulmates at the end and like they were deeply in love, yet the only thing I saw was a stupid high school relationship that was way to over dramatic. Like we only ever saw them make out, fight or be snappy towards each other. There were no gentle touches, loving glances or the pure love that we had in the cartoon. In the cartoon sky always helped bloom when she needed help or felt bad. In the series sky is way to busy with his own business and comes of as stand off ish.
I just would have liked to see more casual scenes, like them going to class, going shopping, actually developing relationships
My biggest problem with Terra is that she was already stereotyped and treated terribly in the narrative when she was just the “fat” friend, now she’s also queer which doesn’t bode well considering how they’ve treated Dane and his relationships as well as how they treated Riven’s sexuality so I can only see her being pushed to the side even more.
The writers don’t seem to understand that people like Terra they just don’t like how she was used to replace Flora. If anything Terra could’ve been Tecna and this could’ve all been resolved OR the white woman running around as Musa could’ve been Tecna and Terra could’ve been Roxy or even Mirta.

This show is excruciating.
I can tell it’s damage control with Terra/ Flora because they said in the show that they aren’t actually blood related. They are second cousins by marriage. So this paved way for Terra to be white and Flora to remain Latina. That part seemed really dodgy to me. I did love Flora’s character and thought they did well with Terra and love interest. Although it was unclear as to whether she was cheating on her girlfriend with Terra at the end, or is she broke up with her gf for Terra. That was confusing.
Just a minor correction though…Musa’s actress Elisha Applebaum isn’t actually white. She’s Jewish so we shouldn’t refer to her as white, even if she is white passing. Personally I never saw her as white because I know she’s Jewish and the Jewish people in my linage don’t see themselves as white. Her looks are really similar to my grandmother’s actually (white passing but Jewish). Musa’s actress still should have been East Asian though.

They need to up the CGI budget. The wings should have looked so much better. I agree, they should have given them a different look when they transformed.
While this season suffered from many of the same issues as the first, I appreciated how well they handled Terra's coming out, with the other girls being nothing but supportive of her. Also, Bloom is kinder and more willing to protect others, which makes her sacrifice towards the end all the more poignant.
Honestly... They didn't do that coming out scene justice. The one with Flora was extremely cute... But when she came out to the rest of the characters... It wasn't it, that wasn't a time for coming out, like they were literally about to restore Musa's power and Terra is just like... I'm not going to make this about me and it won't last for too long but I'll still make it about me. Like if it was before they thought of using the convergence crystal then it would have been way cuter. This just feels forced.
@@kawaiimika7974 Agreed. Her entire g@y storyline, including her coming out, was token diversity. Out of all of the love interests in the show, I don't know the name of Terra's love interest because it was so little screen time compared to what Bloom/Skye, Musa/Riven and Aisha/Grey got. They could have had so much screen time if they decided to scrap Stella's residual bitchyy behavior scenes.
Also, don't like how obvious it was that the writers decided to make Terra g@y after the season 1 ended. They have never even kissed on screen or had any chemistry.
Everything lacked subtlety and was rushed. I have already penned an outline of how they could have incorporated Terra and love interest's "just friends" to "connection to the main plot" to "conflict" to "emotional self-realization and coming out to herself" to "coming out to friends" storyline and I am sending my first draft to Netflix in an angry notes app tweet.
Personally I would have loved that Terra was already a lesbian and didn't need a coming out story. Make LGBT characters be already normalize in the otherworld because I expect that magical beings in the magical dimension to be romantically and sexually fluid and its seen like another Tuesday.

I also found it absurd that bloom blindly walked into the dark realm baring in mind she didn’t even know this of world until a couple months ago the writers should’ve at least had her read up on it before running off

The Winx always do everything together, even if it gets dangerous. The only time bloom goes alone is when she goes home to her earth parents and everything goes wrong

I am still so disappointed by the first season especially when it comes to style😢 And I think that they had a fair chance to bring back really cool Y2K style😅 I think that darker tone doesn’t suit Well to this kind of show …. Especially the season 1 style of Stella looks like the wand robe of my mother😅 not very youthful and stylish
As a kid, I didn't have access to foreign TV channels in my country, and I had no internet, but there was this place which sold winx club episodes(Turkish dub) on CD(two episodes in one CD) and it was pricy, but I would BEG my mom for those CDs, even though I couldn't even understand the language LOL.
It was a big part of my childhood, despite the fact that I was only able to watch 10 episodes which were not even in order. I'd watch them over and over again, It was so colorful and bright and fun and the girls were so beautiful and strong and I LOVED Flora.
This? Well I don't know what it is but I don't think it's winx club🤷♀️
Bloom is so annoying in this show. It's painful to watch and hear her lines being so self absorbed and egocentric. Like you came to this world yesterday you barely know anything about it and you think you can just fix everything by yourself, it's dumb. I hate this remake I hope they make a better one someday

They are already thinking about a possible live action movie with some big company and famous producers. Hopefully, it'll have a higher budget and better writing.

Bloom blindly going after Sky without thinking of the consequences filled me with so much rage, nobody is that stupid just why 😑😑
Season two is a definite improvement over the first in many ways like character building, the friendship dynamic, actually making characters likeable, action scenes, a decent storyline, making specialist useful, just so much things they did better
But and this a big but overall it’s still a bad show for everything they did better I wouldn’t say it’s good, cause I can list more things they did bad or worse, it’s improving though and has me excited for the future

Honestly, the more I think about season two the more I realize that I didn't like it as much as I thought at first.
Had a huge problem with the plot. Like I liked the idea of the blood witches but it feels like they didn't know how to properly work it out. It doesn't feel like we know much about the witches and their motives.
Just like you, I liked the rescue mission in the first episode, it felt like a good start and they were finally working together as a team. But after that, it keep on frustrating me that they would talk about how important stuff is and that they have to find out who is the enemy etc. but then randomly do something else.
For example, I get it that they want to show more of the relationship between Sky and Bloom but they can do that without cutting the flow. They made it feel like it's so important to get the book but then they do everything else the whole day. Or when Flora and Aisha go to get evidence on Rosalind. They tell us how they have to be careful and fast so they won't get caught but then they just stop in the middle of their mission to talk about Grey. It just felt like they hit the break button of the story to add these moments without being able to properly work them into the plot.
Also, I hated the last episode. It was just like the last one, Bloom doing everything on her own, not caring for anybody else just to safe Sky. (Okay, maybe I don't like it because I thought Sky was just useless this season. It felt like he did nothing for the story besides whining about his dads and being Blooms boyfriend. And then to end up captured by the bad guys.)
I'm so sad that Beatrix died. She grew on me and I wanted to see more of her being friends with Stella.
Maybe it's just me but I thought Musa was extremely selfish when she gave up her power. I get it that it's hard to live with them but they put so much highlight on how important she would be in the fight against the bloom witches that it just felt wrong.
When the former headmistress returned as a ghost, I was thinking the same as you. All she did was giving Bloom a preptalk. At the same time, I wondered how all these super strong fairies die so easily?
Her, Rosalind even the evil guy, they all die so easily without a real fight.
Overall, I'm just disappointed. It has potential but feels like the people working on the show don't know how to properly use it.
(I have to add: When they ruled that Bloom must be frozen or whoever it's called, I wondered what are they going to tell her parents? Or do they just don't tell them at all?)
Off to the positive: Your haircolor is gorgeous. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me but the color highlights the color of your eyes.

I liked season 2 better, it's mediocre, but decent if you detach from Winx Club, it's absolutely faaaaaar from perfect but it isn't worthless like season 1 is. I just wish the showrunners will keep on listenint to the people's opinion and improve the show even more for season 3 (which, i ain't gon lie, i am kinda looking forward to)
However i do think Stella had a lot of interesting plotlines this season: her back gem thingy, her relationship with Beatrix, her conflict with her mom... i enjoyed Stella very much she's probably my favourite character with Beatrix. But I gotta say her plotlines were dreadfully underused and underdevelopped !
I'm obsessed with Winx Club, Stella being my favourite character, and yet i feel like Fate is much more enjoyable when you completely detach yourself from it (especilly since, like you said, stella's just soooo different TT)
Yes I completely agree with you, 100%. As a fan of the cartoon, you have to watch it as a separate Fantasy show based on Winx, not as an adaptation. I really hope they will introduce Brandon in the next season. They were my favorite couple in the cartoon.
I just watched the last episode, bc I was curious. When I saw the "Transformation" I was like: " what in Jesus is this?" The transformation was so mediocre, as well as the final battle situation. This was so bad 🙈

Hi! Thank you for reviewing Fate:the Winx Saga season 2. I appreciate that Aisha had somewhat of a storyline and love interest. One of my favorite Winx character is Flora and I was excited how the writers would introduce her in season 2. Flora should have been in first season since I felt like Flora was kind of sidelined throughout the second season. I know it’s understandable since there are so many characters… but I agree Flora should have more scenes with the rest of the main girls.

Honestly, Ayesha’s storey line was pretty lack lustre. Ended up skipping through most of Ayesha and Greys scenes as it felt as though Ayesha was downgraded to just a love interest when she seems to be the most well read and powerful.
They messed up season 1 so bad that they just cant fix it in further seasons. Stella and Brandon's relationship was so strong and inspiring in the animation, i hate what they did with the live action. And with the mean mother, they couldve used Cassandra instead of Luna for that role, that would've made more sense like the mean stepmother favoring her own daughter Chimera over Stella.
It also didn't make sense that they had Instagram and Snapchat but they dont know about blooms home world lol (as on earth).
Oh oh ánd i thought: well maybe if you dont know the animation then you could like the series. BUT it is litteraly made for the fans because they dont explain anything in the live action and assume the viewers to know what they are talking about. Like they dont explain the dragon flame. And they used the valtor name?
Bloom's "heroism" reminds me of Elena Gilbert from TVD.

I found this season way more boring, because even though season 1 had many many issues, we had fairies fighting evil zombie creatures. It was so cool, the blood witches feel a little tame ngl.
Beatrix is my fave, she has the best outfits tho. Actually she and bllom are just the same, she also just wanted to find out the truth from her past the only difference is bloom has her friends and other people to help her while beatrix have no one. So i get why her actions are like that, she also wants to prove something but we saw how she's truly protective and soft to the people she cares about especially andreas, who she treats like a dad. I hope they will bring her next season.
when I watched Euphoria I'm like "this is more like a winx club costume and make up than the actual adaptation".
I feel like not many people know the fever dream that was House of Anubis so hearing you mention it at the end made this video even more awesome 😂
The winx in the show they’re not even friends, theyre basically just in war so they work together
While I did enjoy this season more than last season, there were some things that just didn't make sense to me. Didn't it imply last season that Rosalind mind controlled Riven and Dane? Where did that go? Riven seems to have gone through a bunch of character development, which is great because he's a more enjoyable character now, but when did that development happen? When did he and sky work out their problems from season 1? What was the point of showing Andreas grab the picture of him and baby sky before burning down the house since Sky didn't see it and he never mentions it? There was no actual development of their father-son relationship, not even to further sky and silva's connection. Stella gets mad that Bloom thinks she doesn't care to actually go out and help, instead just staying in the school, but she didn't tell the others about the control gem so OF COURSE that's what Bloom thinks. That's literally how she's acting. Beatrix tells Sky she won't let him off the hook for killing Andreas, but she never does anything to him until the finale and her reason wasn't related to Andreas. These things were just weird to me.
The only thing I think you bring up that i can actually understand from the show is Beatrix letting Sebastian in but then not wanting him to get Bloom's power after. I don't think she realized what would happen if he got the Dragon Flame until after she'd already helped him. But that just brings up the question of, why would you not think about figuring that out before you helped the literal enemy who stole your powers?
Some of their wardrobe choices made my head hurt loke CRAZY only flora and bloom(to an extent ) had good choices
I didn’t like Bloom “I can do everything by myself” energy and I wish all the boys would come back and the trix. Oh yea everyone powers names needs to come back. I do feel they think the audience who watched the cartoon want to see something dark and gloomy because we are older we still like color so of us don’t want to see these old tropes we are talking about fairies give us little color, give Tecna, give us real transformation, give us the real power names for the FAIRIES make believe creatures. They really need to give back all the girls their titles back (I had forgot all the girls were princesses). Just so gloomy but i did like s2 way more than s1. I loved this review

@@Darkmisty100 no that’s wrong because in the original tv show it’s mentioned multiple times that only bloom, Stella, and Layla are royalty. There’s even an episode where musa tells Stella that she needs to be grateful as a princess. In the comics Tecna is a princess but not in the show. And musa is only a princess in the 4kids American dub not the original European storyline. Hope that helps 😅

Very well-balanced review, great video. Something I think people forget, is that early on, before Season 1 was released, Terra was going to be Flora, according to the press releases. I think they changed the name/character after the inital fan backlash. The whitewashing and the weird, dark atmosphere overall are just disappointing.
My favourite Winx since childhood has always been Musa and I'm SO mad with what they done to her in this show. First, the whitewashing. Second, the change of powers (in mi opinion, for the worst because they didn't even explore them in a cool way). And third, her relationship with Sam and Riven. I actually liked the idea of her being with Sam in the first season, because Sam was cute, nice and understanding, in a way Riven never was to her in the cartoon. So for them to break Musa and Sam's relationship this season IN THE FIRST TWO EPISODES and then tried to create a bond with Riven got me so mad. I hated it. Because Riven and Musa in the cartoon are by far the rockiest of the girls' relationships, and they had such a great opportunity here with the introduction of Sam, but they wasted it.
Nah but one of the most iconic things in the original is Riven and Musa. It's more true to the source material, entertaining, and realistic to a lot of relationships. So I would love for that to be showcased in Fate as well. Not everything is happy and perfect with sweet men.

So pleased you reviewed this. I watched season 1 and was horrified. Stella was my fav character in Winx Club when I was younger and they absolutely butchered her in the show, like you said she's unrecognizable. If that wasn't bad enough there were missing characters and all the issues you mentioned and I just felt so detached from the original that I couldn't even bear to go into season 2. So thanks for doing that for us because I am curious about how it turned out but really can't put myself through watching it 😅

The thing that pisses me off the most about Fate is how small and pathetic it's scale is. Like, if this were on the CW, I would understand, but this is NETFLIX. They have the money to give the girls fairy transformations, and they have the money to give the Specialists their capes and lightsabers, ad they DEFINITELY could afford to have THREE Trix sisters, but they chose NOT to.

This season was slightly better than the first, but the bar was on the floor. Bloom and Riven were a liiittle less intolerable. I honestly liked Musa's storyline and her becoming friends with Riven. Still hate that Terra exists, especially when Flora was added to the show after all. Should have just done that from the beginning. Her character is so stupid, she makes me so mad. This whole Andreas thing... so pointless. Also, I'm still salty that there's no Brandon.
When i was a kid, around when the time of the original Winx Club, I used to design fashions for my characters ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME!! But during the 2010s, I just...stopped. seeing these fashion choices made my inner fashion designer awaken after years of hibernation. We need these fashions back, they are full of personality!
On the flora topic they did talk about her during season 1 for a brief second so she wasn't really new just mentioned.
I'm sure they did plan to bring her in season 2 but It would've made sense to bring in flora and if they wanted to still do Terra then they could.

I had so many issues with this season (the show in general) BUT the ending OMG THE ENDING. It felt like they wrapped up the show, finished it all and suddenly 'oh shit we need to set up for season 3 QUICK WRITE THAT SEBASTIAN WON ANYWAY AAA' like seriously what the hell; it means they just murdered a man for no reason. He won already. BLOOM KNEW HE WON.
I will say the show had some very stunning cinematography at times. It was the only thing I could really see had vision for the show. Someone was clearly thinking about the shots they were using.

It was hard for to fully finish it. I didn’t watch the Winx Club when I was younger, but I keep hearing that everyone wanted Flora to be on the Fate, like the original. So, I tried to pay attention to her when she came. But she (assumably) loses her power, and I did not care about her enough to truly care. At all 🙃
I've just finished watching season 2 and I actually really like it. I know there still are many issues with season 2, like you said the same issues that were in season 1 (I can get on a full rant on that 😂) however I watched it as a Fantasy show based on Winx club. I looked at it like this, Season 1 they had an idea that fans didn't really like and then they actually listen to the fans and Season 2 is the result. The show has the potential to become really good if the creators just listen to what the fans want. I liked every reference of the cartoon and the characters and story similarities with the cartoon, I hope there will be more, but I watch it as a separate show based on the cartoon rather than an adaptation. I think that main problem is budget... and people who look at series at copy paste of the cartoon... nobody can live action cartoon characters and their costumes... it would cost millions...

I was really hoping for references of the cartoons second season, that the blood witch (functioning as Darkar) convinces bloom to come over to the dark side and become the shadow phoenix. The others then would have to combine their powers and demonstrate their friendship to convince bloom to come back but nope instead the fight scene and final fight was really fucking lame.
Same as the girls transformation like they not even change clothes, they just get wings that ‘kind of’ look like their element

Couple of things: they never did anything with the info that the burned ones were human once?? What?? Also, why didn't they just make Alfea a college equivalent rather than high school? It would make way more sense. And they changed so many other things...
I did like Stella's blue dress near the end. Though it felt more like OG Bloom's style. I could see them using her clothes to express a character shift. Frumpy at the start of the season to brighter as she gains confidence in herself and not her mother's shadow.

The visuals in terms of the bright colors were nice But i still have my grips on Bloom Since they changed her origins VERY Fast Like wha?! lol and The whole "hero Complex" with Bloom was annoying Like Im surprised she still has friends!!

Imagine if a season of Fate the Winx Saga began with something similar to KDA - More (League of legends).Musa (Akali), Stella (Evelyn), Aisha (Kai Sa) and Flora (Seraphine) bringing in the new year in Alfea with a mix of Scifi & Fantasy!! The winx preforming on campus & broadcasting through out Magix!! Everything that KDA is is what I expected from Fate. Is it so hard to ask for that kind of imagination??! I'm not asking for a carbon copy of the original, I'm asking for a broader imagination and originality for such an expansive project.

As someone who knows about the old cartoons but never really watched it i really enjoyed the netflix series. But i understand frustration for people who watched the original. I also think it's harder vor newer shows to get good character developement when they only have 6-10 episodes. Older series have like 20 episodes so of course there is more time for everything. Old winxclub had 73 episodes in 3 seasons. So lots of time for character developement. I agree with the fashion. Lol crocs. Like your videos though especially pll

Their treatment of anyone but cishet white characters in general is so problematic. Musa, Riven and Terra/Flora were whitewashed, Terra was suddenly queer with no season 1 build up/hints and immediately after started bullying Flora for no real reason and they put her, the plus sized girl, in the worst outfits. The only SE asian character (Grey) turns out to be a traitor and a spy, the only other two queer characters (Dane and Riven) treat multiple different characters like shit. Tecna whose neurodivergent coded is non-existent. Aisha seems to be the only poc that remains relatively unscathed. It really just feels like they don't give a shit about any minorities or how they can represent them without doing damage
I think stella and sky dating is a reference/easter egg from the first season of Winx club (the cartoon) where Sky and Brandon pretended to be each other (BRANDON was sky and SKY was brandon)

Good thing Netflix got the hint that we (the fans of the original cartoon) hated this abomination of a show and cancelled the series. Now, there’s only one thing for us fans to do now, go back and watch the original series (whichever dub you prefer, 4kids, RAI, Nick) and forget this show ever existed.
I hated ALL of Musas outfits and floras personality is bland and unlikeable. Also wtf is up with musa deciding to be a specialist?! Also the scene in the final episode (I think it’s the final episode) where all the specialists line up and then run to fight was the most cringy and forced scene I have every watched. The fact that Beatrix is the most likeable character (and had the best outfits) should really say something.

Recasting is done because of inconveniences with the actor/actress’s.
In this case the former actress of Rosalind had to narrate a documentary and was not going to be available for filming which is why she was recast.
Whenever characters are recast the story
treats it like they look the same. This happened multiple times in game of thrones and in many other shows that recasting has ever been done.
It’s not poor storytelling, you just don’t knots what recasting is.
to me it comes as no surprise that terra is only there for representation. she's the only character in the main cast that didn't exist in the original cartoon so the viewers aren't emotionally attached to her. at all. and if we've learned anything from the little mermaid live action, the general public hates it when their fav childhood characters change, especially if those changes remove characters' whiteness/thinness/straightness, etc. so i think the majority of viewers watching the show are more comfortable with a totally new character representing the minorities (even though she was written as whitewashed flora originally lol) rather than their childhood faves becoming a part of said minorities. you feel me?
now, to be fair, riven is also there and he has some scenes with dane but riven is the bad guy 😈😈😈he does threesomes and constantly talks about sex 🥵how edgy! wow! /s
so considering the awful representation and fetishization of bisexuality in the mainstream media for many many years, i'm not surprised he was chosen to have that arc. and in the end, he says he wasn't interested in dane at all and now he's bonding with musa. it's like "here are some gay scenes with a character you know from your childhood but don't worry, he's just a spicy straightie 😜"

Your video has the exact same thoughts I´ve had when I watched the latest season. I feel like the writers just googled the original Winx saga, looked at the pictures and names and then wrote a completely different story. I was really really disappointed, because the original Winx has such a good story and world building, and sure, its childish (because the story was meant for kids), but it felt like it still had a moral. That friendship and will-power could defeat any evil out there. But the whole new saga just felt empty. I couldn't connect to any of these people. If any of them died, I couldn't care less (except of Flora, I really liked her in this season). But otherwise, none of them were relatable to me. ALSO I REALLY REALLY WANTED TO SEE ICY FROM THE TRIX, because I had the BIGGEST crush on her when I was a kid and I wanted to see her in real life, but NO, the trix weren't apparent at all :( which is a shame tbh, because they were the main villains in season two???? I really hope there will be some good Winx real life adaptation in the future :/

The costumes weren’t amazing but definitely better this time round. HOWEVER Terra’s outfits were so bad, you can tell they just didn’t care with her, especially in episode 3 when they go to a ball and Bloom is in a satin dress with a slit and trendy neckline while Terra is in baggy bottoms, an old print top and something that resembles a blazer but isn’t. It’s really annoying because throughout the show it feels like they’re saying slim feminine is attractive while plus size should be frumpy and hidden, when anyone can look amazing when they find a silhouette that suits them; it’s very hard to show someone is gaining confidence and identity when you put them in muted colours and clothes that don’t flatter them. That aside, I did appreciate that they used more crop tops and spaghetti straps, and (for the most part) I did really like Flora’s outfits, it felt like an urban outfitters vibe, although I wish they’d be more bold on the colours. Beatrix is also fairly well dressed although some of her clothes don’t quite fit her. One of my favourite changes was Stella’s hair, they still all (apart from Beatrix) look older but the short curly hair made her look a lot younger. If there is a third season, I hope they improve more.

Netflix should just avoid adapting anything if they can't respect and appreciate the source material and take elements from it for a faithful, yet entertaining adaption. They also shat on The Witcher series (another fantasy show) by removing crucial context and characters, which they've been criticised for!

RAI English dub of Winx is the only dubbed version of Winx I acknowledge, because it doesn't stray away from the original source material.
Since I'm from Croatia, and didn't have access to the RAI English version of Winx for several years, I pretty much had to make do with the horrible Croatian dub of Winx. And of course, I also ended up stumbling upon the 4Kids dub of Winx and Nick dub many years later, which aren't really that good.

I feel like the writers wanted to create that sort of relationship that starts with everyone disliking eachother and then having an experience that just makes them extra close despite their differences but they missed the mark. The points where that coulve happend instead became Blooms shining moment or unexpected plot twist, and now I still dont understand why they would like eachother, and I don't really believe that they do. But they go around saying it sort of?
I feel like I rather compare it to Twilight, because it seems to want to be this fantasy magic in the modern world. But then why even be in another realm? And with high fantasy having a massive swing in popularity it feels really unsmart to not lean into it.
My biggest issue with the characters; styling, casting and script, is that they look like 30 year olds, acting like 30 year olds that wants to go back in time and act like teenagers. And I'm in my 30's, so I can relate to that, but I just don't belive that they are young students.
Is Riven actually Asian in the cartoon, I thought he was white.
