Omg I finally finished the subtitles! Sorry it took so long, but 2hrs of of a video is hard to get done quickly ahaha Hope this helps those of you who need subtitles on!
What went wrong? Everything. Nothing connects it to Winx Club accept for title and the fact that girls have magic based on elements like fire, water etc..
Fate was the biggest example of how predominantly female led properties are not taken seriously by cast or creators. Properties such as Marvel are taken so seriously and accuracy is almost demanded but when it’s things enjoyed by women we get stuff like Sabrina and Riverdale
Yeah, it’s such a stark difference it’s crazy! I genuinely don’t get how they don’t see how ppl treat things that were made for kids BUT boys and things that were made for little girls super differently, and that they really shouldn’t be doing that
I don't even think it's about bringing down female leads to be honest, sure we can speculate here that it's about discrimination or pushing some harmful ideas but I'm pretty sure it just comes down to money. Bad adaptations and reheating of old franchises are a plague of recent years. They are just cash grabs based on nostalgy nothing more. You can clearly see that the writers and producers didn't care about this story, world or characters. You were just supposed to watch it because it has "Winx" in the title and you watched Winx as a kid. It's really disappointing.
Yes, the male comic book bros would have a fit if they saw the actors speak so flippantly about the original IP. They get mad at basically all the women heroes anyways but that's just another reflection of them rejecting female led comics anyways and of course the characters come off differently when you only see them in books where they aren't centered.
It's for me kinda sad, since in cartoon media we got great female leads that make great characters, and are taken seriously by writers and artists, and yet there doesn't seem to be as many is live action Like for example, compraing Sabrina and Luz (they're both in witch universe, that's why I chose these two). When it comes to Luz I can see how much the whole story affected her mentally, her motivation is clear (to become a witch), and interactions even with villans are interesting, because we know villans are way stronger than her, and she has to use more than her powers to defeat them Sabrina however, changed her hair colour, and seemed to sort off... lost her kindness ig? she became bit darker. and her crosses with enemies were just to show hiw powerfull she can be, and how she defeats the bad guys so easly. ALSO DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE RELATIONSHIP STUFF CAUSE BOY- WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? Anyways Owl House is a top tier show and Sabrina was just a mess
For me it was more noticeable after watching Dylan's video where he talks about Fate and he said something about how often female oriented series don't show much action scenes, like real and long fights. And it's specially infuriating since that was one of the coolest thing about the cartoon (in the first seasons), how much care went into making entertaining fights and action sequences. But no, we can't have nice things in adaptions around here.
@@anpatman ? Maybe I was reading too much into it but I got the impression that Morticias and Wensdays relation was a fairly accurate teen daughter doting if slightly overbearing mother relationship, with an angry teen wanting to define herself in opposition to her mother? But then they slightly reconcile in the, false murder accusations episode, that Wensday is not a copy of her mother and she doesnt want to follow her footsteps but that doesnt make it inherintly bad to be similar to the woman who raised her. @@dalriada7554 The demographic they were going for was probably the same imaginary "modern audience" that most shows these days tend to aim for. The "modern audience" that supposedly exists and we keep hearing about in interviews for damn-near every show released in recent years, yet never seems to show up to save the failing shows. They'll use the existing fans as a stepping stone to reach that "modern audience", but that's all the fans are to them.
@@dalriada7554 same like why would you talk about sodomy, weed and threesome in these kinds of show ?? A show about magic and powers ? Especially when the characters are TEENS not freaking thirty years olds adults
So I wasn’t the only one who kind of rolled my eyes when they heard that the show was going to be “mature” and “adult”. It seems like most of the time, that means writers are going to take an almost high school mentality of “adult = sex/drugs/gore” and use that to paper over other more fundamental writing issues.
Bloom is a very headstrong and stubborn character in the animated series but ig the live action only focused on that aspect of her personality and made her so arrogant and egotistical. They completely skipped bloom’s kindness and selflessness for her friends and people she cares about
remember when in one of the first episodes of season one of og winx Bloom told off EVERYONE for being unsupportive of Flora studying really hard for her exam and accidentally causing trouble in the suite bc of her plants being invasive? Yeah, that bloom would rip riven a new one or fight with Sky, but she would be the sweetest to her girls(unless they were going too far and were being inconsiderate of each other)
the cast not knowing shit about Winx club was the most disrespectful thing ever. These people got the part for ICONIC characters in what is now one of the biggest shows of 2022 and 2021 and they didn't even bother to watch ONE SEASON of Winx club???
@@125loopy iirc it was a special for when nickelodeon got the show and did a soft reboot, so that people who only knew the show from nickelodeon would be caught up to speed
Tbh, it kinda reminds me of how the team (including the VAs) talked shit about og She Ra (make that as you will). Stop giving rolls and rights to people who clearly don’t care about the source material at all, regardless of the turned out good/became super popular) or not. How hard is it for Hollywood to understand this?
@@Dave102693 Sadly, it kinda makes sense in a very... egotistical way. It's a reboot, so it really doesn't matter how the older show went, it's "their version" now.
Not to sound too prideful, but when it comes to writing for me I make so many friendships yet I suck at making like villains or bad friendships and relationships like how do I write villains it’s so impossible for me. Heck how do you do enemies to lovers?
I just had this conversation with my husband! I see so many female "friendships" with insane jealousy and no real friendship. They don't even try! It's like they don't even have friends.
Realistically, if she can hear and feel everyone's thoughts and emotions 24/7 Wouldn't she be lost as to who she herself is? What are your own feelings and thoughts, if they're being drowned in an ocean of other people's feelings and thoughts. To experience someone's emotions AND thoughts would come scarily close to experiencing someone's perception of reality, and I doubt anyone can live that 24/7 with their sense of self intact. Basically young Musa would either have grown up in isolation during her formative years, or she should have everyone's PTSD, trauma's, phobia's, some dissociative personality disorder, untreatable depression because she cant trust her own personality to not be the influence of all people she's ever met, well, SOMETHING other than 'I squint and get migraines from intense emotions. But other than that I'm a functioning individual.' Just thinking of having Musa's power makes me incredibly anxious. Yknow how ppl try to influence you? Congrats, now EVERYONE influences you without any intention of doing so. Also. Why do mind fairies even exist? Helloooo, they can make countries go to war by making the monarchy feel paranoid or slighted or angry or 😖
i feel like 90% of this shows failures are due to pure arrogance. the actors not bothering to at least watch the first episodes of the show, the writer thinking he can just whip up a story as he goes, the costume designers thinking they are able to dress for a show that has cute young 2000s fashion at its core after only doing costumes for middle aged mums. just a bunch of people who lied on their application (and probably know somebody who knows somebody honestly)
I feel the og winx club had the dark story lines they wanted and could have dug deeper. •Bloom’s parents( I know they use it in the show but I feel part of the mystery is lost like where is daphne.) •Bloom being one of the last of the girls to transform. •The techno magic ( justice for techna) •BRANDON!!!!! Like come on Sky hiding his identity as prince from bloom and Stella not knowing Brandon wasn’t a prince! It writes itself! •Stella being the sun and moon fairy dealing with her parents rocky relationship. •Aisha’s love interest dying…. Anyway I can go on and on about how the template was laid out before them and they ruined it. 😢
@@LisaFevral he wasn’t even being rude or shading them….. it’s so was such a low move… idk I’m sorry if I’m hyper focused on it but it really rubbed me the wrong way.
All in all, say it with me people: no matter what continuation or adaption, Aisha is not allowed to have nice things. It's despicable, it's EVIL. ELECTRIC CHAIR😭I am so tired of seeing my black girlies suffer unnecessarily * Bonnie flashbacks intensify *
Thank you for calling out the actors, they genuinely pissed me off how they were asked in interviews and livestreams and didn’t know A SINGLE THING. How do you get cast in a live adaptation and not care enough to watch the source material like I cannot fathom that.
I was personally offended by the interview were Brian critised the winx's hair by saying they're unrealistic and a bad model for young girls. Yes they're super long but Tecna and S1-2 Musa had short hair. And s1 Bloom had her stop at her waist, some people do have hair that stop there, I'm one of them.
How is having long hair a bad model for young girls?? I can understand saying the body proportions set unrealistic beauty standards for children, but long hair, really?? What was he on oh my god
@@pixxie643 Basically he said the character designs were problematic "(stuff about the body proportions I forgot) and long disney princess hair. Nobody looks like that !". Then he literally contradicted himself by talking about how it's a cartoon and not supposed to be accurate. And after that he concluded on how he wanted "real people" to play the characters (He said while whitewashing the characters. Guess asians and south americans aren't real people 🤡). His interview makes no sense 😭
Wow that's really disappointing to hear about the actors. Like every other month we hear some celebrity share what crazy thing they did to method prepare for a role, and these actors couldn't be bothered to watch at least one season to get a feel for their characters? Maybe it was also a lack of good direction from their executives who also clearly picked Winx out of an algorithm hat not bothering to research the IP before adapting it.
So true! I mean look at the contrast between Netflix' Wednesday and Fate. Jenna Ortega researched her chara prior and has stolen the show with her acting. I think if the actors at least cared enough to do their research it could have been a slightly better show.
I hate how winx sarga starts with bloom almost killing her parents and going to the school and winx club original starts with a girl obsessed with fairytales and draws them on her wall and finds one in the park one day and protects it with magic.
Fate is a big example on how execs really care less for the source material they are adapting from. Especially if the source material was made with a female audience in mind. Considering Brian Young made The Vampire Diaries, I’m not surprised by the racism, fake wokeness, jerk main characters, and shallowness.
Yeah that’s the key here - the source material was for girls, so everyone involved is acting embarrassed of it, which is so disrespectful if you are going to be profiting off of this intellectual property
@@LisaFevral so true. Bloom is literally giving me not like other girls energy throughout my experience in watching this show. Also, the friendship between the the main girls was really shallow and only mattered when Bloom was the center of attention.
Loved everything you said about Aisha (55:00) .As a black girl when Aisha first come on to the original animation I was ecstatic . They made her a princess and EVERYTHING and represented her RIGHT. So when I watched the live adaptation thinking things would atleast be similar, I was disappointed on how she was represented. Because it seemed like she was mostly there to help bloom with HER problems.🤷🏿♀️
the first season she literally had NO storyline even though she was one of the main characters, it's genuinely insane! and taking away her princess status should be illegal
@@LisaFevralit makes enough sense why she wouldn't be a princess anymore other than the r word if you get my drift. I'm so over and at this point I can't even be mad I just want to sit down and cry.
Late to the party but if Jacob Elordi can read The Kissing Booth books to prepare for his role, these actors could've watched one season of Winx at the very least
I get the feeling the actors felt weird and cheesy watching such a kiddish cartoon like Winx let alone one made for little girls.. the producers should provide them with a casette or licensed copy of season 1 at least or something if they fear watching it pirated online.
@@gpodjoe9179 Well this excuse is stupid anyway because winx club, along with many other “kid shows” aren't actually dumb or cheesy at all. Winx club especially handled darker and more mature topics in a much better way than most “adult” shows if you ask me.
I think Terra was transitioning to the mineral magic, so we would't have two plant fairies in the main cast. This started when they first used convergence crystal, that's why she has "crystal" wings
@@Dave102693 exactly! Whenever I think of Tecna's technological magic boiled down to an element, I think of minerals and metals of which technology is mostly made.
Because I saw so many people talk about Wednesday recently, all I have to say is I wish people would just write their own shows with fairy magic or a little goth teen. A lot of stuff lately has had no reason to actually be related to the characters or shows its remaking other than to make money off of old fans. It makes me sad.
Spot on analysis! I can tell you put in a lot of research and even brought in points I never considered before. To add onto the art direction, as someone who grew up in Ireland, I think Brian Young used the location as a crutch to sell the whole 'fairy' vibes. I understand to him as an American the Irish landscape is "unusual" and "magical" in the same vein as me watching anime and thinking the sailor school uniforms and places like Tokyo or Kyoto are "anime". Places like the village at Alfea or the landscape where Bloom and Sky have their horse ride are like less than an hour drive from any city. Idk, if it's the same for people outside of Ireland, but Fate just looks extra mundane and less fantastical to me and just comes off as lazy. No work was put into the worldbuilding or art direction to actually make it fantastical. Also, your criticisms of Flora really hit the nail on why Fate fails at being mature. Dark topics such as character deaths, war, child-soldiers and genocide aren't treated with the level of nuance and focus and depth required. A big issue I had with season 2 was how the show glosses over character deaths. Sky kills his father, something so traumatic for anyone to experience, let alone a teenager and the show brushes it off. Bloom kills Rosalind and they make it about how dangerous and out of control Bloom is and not on the fact that she just murdered someone. Beatrix losing her father and becoming an orphan and Gray losing his brother in a genocide are glossed over and are used to paint them as villains rather than add some nuance. Worse all, Bloom is supposed to be a normal 16 year old from California and she's taken away from the safety and mundane of earth to a world of dangerous monsters, wars, deaths, killing with her at the epicentre of it all and she's just so unfazed and unbothered about it all. The darkness is just the aesthetic of maturity, and if you take away the aesthetic the writing is on par with the writing past season 4 of the Winx club. Incredibly childish.
Yeah see, that's the thing. The scenery looks similar to what I see just outside of Vancouver, and as much as I like it, it is QUINTESSENTIAL Earth look and even just adding cultural quirks would do wonders to elevate the setting to something that feels somewhat different. Exactly, I genuinely feel like the writing is on the same level as 5+ seasons of winx, and that is just ridiculous for a show that claimed to be winx for adults
I agree with everything you said but I will say her killing Rosalind is in fact treated with weight, to me? It’s not acted with any nuance, like most of the show- but she does see it as deeply horrible and goes into a shock depressive episode. The rest of it moving quickly on os just what i expect i guess lmal
it’s just occurred to me that if they wanted to do grungy or modern or dark or whatever it is they were going for type of fairies, they had an entire grunge fairy core/goblin core aesthetic trending in front of them. it was right there, with dark and earth tones, jeans and fairy wings, electronic music etc. ofc it has nothing in common with the original aesthetic but at least it would’ve been something fun and new to watch while retaining the overall vibe they themselves were aiming for
I think part of the costuming is part of just poor competence, mixed with a desire for originality. Because nowhere in the inspirations they site has that bad costuming, except Marvel, but at least Marvel characters wear normal clothes when not fighting villains. All of these actors look quite good in real life, so at that point, getting the actors to wear their own casual clothes would be a great improvement.
Honestly, we have to acknowledge the character development they gave to Diaspro and Darcy was really nice to see. Same for Stormy's. Sad we didn't get to know why they made themselves pass as Stella and Musa or why Stormy changed her name. That was the biggest mystery of the show.
This show feels like the person responsible for research was watching the original show while browsing instagram, eating dinner and talking on the phone. The plot is literally mix and match of random plot points of the original show.
Yeah key word "responsible" those performance obsessed dumb sheep cant do shit its like counter intuitive instead of behaving humans that have numbers they choose to resort to being cowardly crabs in a bucket
I imagined the same about Tecna, it would have been great to see her controls air and mind powers (and maybe light too) The missed opportunities of Fate are frustrating I swear :(
The design of Alfea in Fate could've been the bees knees. Something similar to Winx Club Alfea that's bright, cosy, and full of wonder on the outside. And contrast it with darker interiors. Maybe not a full on Cloud Tower aesthetics, but with deeper and darker colours. Could have been a very visual representation of the duality of characters.
Live action transformations are difficult, but if the Power Rangers can pull it off then so could this show! We don't need much, but give us something! P.S. I freaking love your videos so much!
Also transformation sequences are part of pretty much every superhero movie or series.. Surely cgi is advanced enough by now to make some sort of transformation. Also they don't have to do much to look as good or better than the cartoon - the animation is pretty outdated.
If we're talking about live action magical girl transformations specifically, then pgsm did it better two decades ago. Is the cg kinda janky? Yeah, it was 2003, but on a conceptual level they understood what people loved about Sailor Moon's transformation sequences in animation and translated it pretty well to the new medium. Perhaps unsurprising since the show poached a bunch of Sentai directors, but y'know. The blueprint was there, Fate just didn't care.
@@mushroomshrubTo be fair it seems that Toei used whatever leftover budget they had from Karen Ryder Ryuki and Hurricanger to make it. Yet it somehow works hundreds of times better than Fate
If something's marketed as a dark and gritty or more "adult" adaption of an existing show, I find it's generally best to assume that what you'll be getting is probably more likely to be juvenile than mature.
First time I’ve seen this youtuber. She’s so good at articulating her critiques in a calm intelligent way. I don’t know what her background is but she seems to have an expansive knowledge of all aspects of film production
there’s so many channels out there that “analyze” shows but just go over the plot and i’m so glad to have found this channel that actually analyzes the show
Lisa you just made my day not just with the thoughtful criticism and hilarious commentary but because I had *no idea* it got canceled and now I'm over the moon god fucking bless
can we please appreciate the amount of work and detailing Lisa put into this? like, girl you deserve a thousand likes/views just for having to rewatch this ridiculous show to make such a DEEP deep dive
the green lighting on Flora is just.. uncreative. "It's a plant faerie so, lets just do green" personally I would have liked to see very warm sunlight. This just makes her look pale and ill.
Aisha was my favorite Winx too! Her personality and her powers were so cool. I would love a legit adult adaptation of Winx. Like Aisha was blinded! A whole planet was thought to be dead! Like come on the darkness is there!
So many of your notes are what I thought while watching the show. My thoughts were short, fleeting and not well thought-out like how you're explaining it. But I love how deep you went with this. Especially the part where Flora talks about love instead of rushing to do their task, and 1:17:00. And Stella not seeing Beatrix on the floor. And Bloom not being likeable, selfish. And the girl group not actually being friends... It's weird
Yeah all of these things bothered me so much, ESPECIALLY the fact that no one was bringing it up! Even within the story no one seemed to mind any of it
when you said they were thinking to focus on the guys instead I was out the door ... why does this always happen with girl shows, they are so desperate to change them as if they are "flawed" by just being fun and feminine, like what ?? It's seen as an undesirable tone for a series unless it's meant to be stirical and it's so sad. And not to mention the whole situation where poc, lgbtq or most minorities in general have to have their "struggle moment" where we are reminded yet again that we are just a social case and can't just exist like regular human beings ... literally you're so right, why can't there be one show where we just live in peace and have fun ? I see a lot of people keep pushing the petition to bring fate back and I just find it disrespectful when the creator of the show has expressed how he doesn't like this version basically and that he is making a proper one, and they are still out there being like nah let's continue this hot mes ... girlfriend stop (no offense to anyone liking it but I would be upset if my art got changed beyond recognition and my fans would actually support it instead when I announced that I want to remake it properly).
exactly! creators of SO MANY shows change the original story from female led to male led, and for what??? like why tf would we need that? can't we have a female protagonist?? ugh and yeah, this is a whole different world, why make the same societal issues like homophobia or racism or misogyny a thing???
I miss the days where the only Winx I know is the fun show that's just as much about friendship as it is about family dynamic. The show that gently introduce kid me to what family issues are and someway to overcome it, through cool and pretty fairy besties.. so much lost potential :"(
9:15 sorry if i’m petty for this but i hope at least one of the actors from fate sees this video and feels ashamed of how they treated their roles with such disregard. like i really want them to be more embarrassed than they are lmao
@magicalashh yeah because you would know everything about every single person who criticised Fate, including their acting skills. Also, I'm not a chef, but I'm able to tell if the food I'm eating taste horrible. Your logic makes literally zero sense.
They could have just made Techna a lighting fairy similar to Beatrix but just made her really adept with technology, I mean they completely changed Musa's magic sooo. But we'll never really know now will we lmao
I gotta say, I’m LOVING these deep dive videos; your view points are so interesting and you put it in a way that makes it so easy to watch a 2 hr long video all at once, I already watched your deep dive video about winx at least three times, honestly you are so great at this (a podcast from you would be a chefs kiss) anyway love the content Lisa, great work 👌🏻
I think a live action winx would always be hard to pull off, since the medium is far more limiting than animation. however there were so many other artistic options that would have created a better show than what fate was.
I am loved so much you including K-pop memes of Zimbalazim and Anti-ti-ti-ti fragile will always be iconic. Thank you so much for this Deep Dive into Fate: The Winx Saga! I agree so many characters like Flora and Aisha were so underutilized in the show.

I remember when Icy wanted "CHRISTMAS POWERS" when bloom mentioned it in the original show I think in Season 1 and no one knew what the heck A Christmas
1:56:48 i think this could have been a good opportunity for sky (or anyone else) to go "i have no idea where that is" in a very deadpan manner. it couldve been a little comedic moment, but also would serve to further alienate Bloom in this new world and to show that yeah, things really are different now. nobody knows anything l about bloom or her culture, and she doesnt know theirs.
And that's the main problem with it for me. Its clear they just slapped Winx on this for nostalgia crashgrabbing didn't care about the source material. If they wanted to change the source material so much,it should been advertised as an original IP,not as adaptation.
Finally someone who speaks the truth about stellatrix 🙈 people romanticize that “you had me” so much that they fail to realise that no, stella wasnt there for beatrix when she really needed her and also a person you have only known for a few months cant replace family...

I had not even realized this before, but the last part of Solaria being big caught me off guard so badly. Had it not been said in this video I wouldn't even have realized that was what they were going for. I really thought it was a small country based on the vibe, they also felt weak despite them telling us they're strong because the burnt ones were few but they reacted like an army pulled up. But NOTHING can compare to the fact they REMOVED the red fointain and witch tower academies! They had so much to work with from the original, the different realms were literally shown and we got small amounts of lore from them. They just had to use it, but they didn't! The world building is so lacking the kids show literally did it better. I can't say I'm surprised because at least the original had self respect unlike this empty husk of a series. (No offense if you liked it but I did not)
The male fairies denial is pissing me off for some reason, like MEN cant have shiny wings and pastel colored clothing ? They gave us the oversexualized, already tired bisexual twist for the represantation I guess? Bye 😭😭Also, I'm saying this as someone who has grown attached to the show + was excited to see season 3 after the finale
If I knew nothing about the original Winx I would not be able to tell you why the girls like each other at all, or anything about the plot, like really I have no idea what Fate was even going for as their end goal it seemed like just a lot of teenage angst bs and fake feminism.
Bloom literally was horribly written, she’s meant to be the strong glue between the girls. The person that takes care of everyone and leads them like this bloom is too selfish to be bloom
O we know why Aisha wasn’t a princess…. And before anyone points it out…Bloom was clearly gonna be told she was a princess in season 3 or after. To me the writer showed no growth from writing Bonnie from the vampire diaries. In fact,Aisha and Bonnie are lowkey parallels.
yeah Aisha and Bonnie have SO MANY parallels it's insane. and I think they probably would've pulled the whole bloom is a princess thing for sure, if they wouldn't stick to the most honoured soldier bullshit. they are so obsessed with the military in this show, I wouldn't be surprised if they were like "You're the next dragon fire general" or some nonsense like that

Thank you Lisa for these 2 great hours! ✨ I literally watched it with more enthusiasm than the series itself. You really exposed the series’ issues from an objective point of view (as always), entertaining us with your cute outfits ❤️! I have to say that my favorite moment in each episode is the opening (lasting only 5 seconds though). I like the wings effects, the colours, the animation, the music. I am glad you talked about the structure of how shows are released nowdays on Netflix😮💨. Since there was more time each season before streaming, you could focus alot more on character development and have just fun filler episodes. Nowdays you can't have that. The story needs to me more tight with only 8 episodes. I think If fate season 2 had more episodes, they could have moved the bonding moments and the random moments where Flora askes about peoples dating lives, into the time between the story episodes😟 and actually make them feel like a group. Adding a 6th girl was a mistake, becauese we barely have time to develop her. Flora steals time from the others. Also the writing in season 2 wasn't that bad, I just think with more bugdet or if it was animated, they could have had more locations. The world feels so small and unintersting. It just doesn't make sense. Sebastian could have been more threatening if he had a better outfit and if they showed how powerful he is visually.
I really love another TH-camr called the Unicorn of War who did a rewrite of S5 of Nick Winx and is working on a S6 rewrite rn as well, I was inspired by the to try to rewrite Fate just as some personal fun since I love writing and I gave up cause I basically have to come up with an entire story and actually make the characters 3D and shit instead of glorified plot devices, it's so hard to adapt a show that has no idea where it was going and I would rather focus that effort on my own story lol. I love your videos
What went wrong? Someone deciding to make a new winx series and forgetting to add their whole STYLE, and stripped away the concept of the world and the winx girls themselves. They literally took away what made them memorable, stylish, and what made them…winx.
first video i watched from you and as someone who grew up watching the original winx show, i wholeheartedly agree with you. amazing analysis!! def got my sub :)
Tecna being excluded from this still bothers me so much, but maybe its better lol considering what they done to other characters especially Aisha Also i'm so glad I found this channel. I love the way you present your points and analysis in such a professional, for lack of a better word, way, but at the same time with a good dose of humor and dynamic to make the content boring to watch.
4:11 Female Specialists also existed, it's hinted at in the S1 episode where Darcy disguises as one. Edit : oh wait she talked about it XD Well, I'll leave the comment for the algorithm
I have heard this « oh yeah it’s not like the real story but it’s a good serie » type of argument so many times with Netflix series and I m so tired of it 😭 it’s the case for Fate ofc but it was also the case recently with Wednesday for example. They forget everything about the original show (the friendship between winx, the family relationship in Addams Family) and made a completly different story and background and atmosphere and then they just put a name that everyone already know because it will bring existing fandom. At the end all the series look the same and the themes are unoriginal 😢 Btw those deep dive video are also so well constructed Thank you Lisa ❤
Yeah I really don’t get what the point of taking an existing story and stripping it of it’s defining qualities is! Just make a new show entirely if you wanna do that😭
I actually found Flora one of the least unlikable characters in s2, purely because Terra was like. SO unbelievably awful to her, for literally no reason? Like, the thing with the Risky Magic Drug Injection was definitely irresponsible and stupid, but when she tried to talk about it earlier on Terra was SO dismissive and rude and, frankly, really irresponsible herself. Like, if you care about saving this guy so much, and you respect your cousin, why won't you let her get a single word in edgewise? The only unironically well-written scene in the entire show imo was Riven telling Musa off for how disrespectful it was to think she could just Be A Specialist without any real training. It also made sense for her character, since she's very literally never had to Try for her powers to work
Omg I finally finished the subtitles! Sorry it took so long, but 2hrs of of a video is hard to get done quickly ahaha
Hope this helps those of you who need subtitles on!
Thank you for even caring enough to make accurate subtitles!

What went wrong? Everything. Nothing connects it to Winx Club accept for title and the fact that girls have magic based on elements like fire, water etc..
@@karolinakuc4783Jesus just knowing that this will have little to nothing with the original
It's for me kinda sad, since in cartoon media we got great female leads that make great characters, and are taken seriously by writers and artists, and yet there doesn't seem to be as many is live action
Like for example, compraing Sabrina and Luz (they're both in witch universe, that's why I chose these two).
When it comes to Luz I can see how much the whole story affected her mentally, her motivation is clear (to become a witch), and interactions even with villans are interesting, because we know villans are way stronger than her, and she has to use more than her powers to defeat them
Sabrina however, changed her hair colour, and seemed to sort off... lost her kindness ig? she became bit darker. and her crosses with enemies were just to show hiw powerfull she can be, and how she defeats the bad guys so easly.
Bloom mother was so kind in the original, why can’t we have loving parents. Anyone else missed her adoptive mother Vanessa
Her dad was great in the original too, it’s just sad
Netflix execs just have mommy issues and project that into Netflix originals like Wednesday and Winx saga
@@anpatman ? HAHA
Me, an empath: "There is a shitload of corpses right next to us."
Realistically, if she can hear and feel everyone's thoughts and emotions 24/7
Wouldn't she be lost as to who she herself is?
But other than that I'm a functioning individual.'
Just thinking of having Musa's power makes me incredibly anxious. Yknow how ppl try to influence you? Congrats, now EVERYONE influences you without any intention of doing so.

i feel like 90% of this shows failures are due to pure arrogance. the actors not bothering to at least watch the first episodes of the show, the writer thinking he can just whip up a story as he goes, the costume designers thinking they are able to dress for a show that has cute young 2000s fashion at its core after only doing costumes for middle aged mums. just a bunch of people who lied on their application (and probably know somebody who knows somebody honestly)
Also writers thinking that throwing in a couple #girlboss moments counts as being progressive 🙄
I feel the og winx club had the dark story lines they wanted and could have dug deeper.
•Bloom’s parents( I know they use it in the show but I feel part of the mystery is lost like where is daphne.)
•Bloom being one of the last of the girls to transform.
•The techno magic ( justice for techna)

I was personally offended by the interview were Brian critised the winx's hair by saying they're unrealistic and a bad model for young girls. Yes they're super long but Tecna and S1-2 Musa had short hair. And s1 Bloom had her stop at her waist, some people do have hair that stop there, I'm one of them.
The funniest thing is that Abigail’s hair is literally that long ahah (gorgeous too)

@@LisaFevral Exactly!
an original feature-length film: _i sleep._
lisa's 2 hour long deep dive on fate the winx saga: _REAL SHIT?_
The rest of it moving quickly on os just what i expect i guess lmal
it’s just occurred to me that if they wanted to do grungy or modern or dark or whatever it is they were going for type of fairies, they had an entire grunge fairy core/goblin core aesthetic trending in front of them. it was right there, with dark and earth tones, jeans and fairy wings, electronic music etc. ofc it has nothing in common with the original aesthetic but at least it would’ve been something fun and new to watch while retaining the overall vibe they themselves were aiming for
yeah, they could've literally done ANYTHING they wanted, as long as it would've had a beautiful art direction with a strong sense of style
Omg I got so confused at first reading this ahahhaha but omfg you’re so right ahah

@@Dave102693 doesnt exist/possibly Belatrix (cos shes the Trix, haha geddit? (Seething.))
I imagined the same about Tecna, it would have been great to see her controls air and mind powers (and maybe light too)
The missed opportunities of Fate are frustrating I swear :(
The design of Alfea in Fate could've been the bees knees.
Yeah I feel like it’s definitely possible, and the special effects were not bad, just not utilized well
Also transformation sequences are part of pretty much every superhero movie or series.. Surely cgi is advanced enough by now to make some sort of transformation. Also they don't have to do much to look as good or better than the cartoon - the animation is pretty outdated.
plus power rangers doesnt even have the highest budgets and the transformations still look decent lmao

And not to mention the whole situation where poc, lgbtq or most minorities in general have to have their "struggle moment" where we are reminded yet again that we are just a social case and can't just exist like regular human beings ... literally you're so right, why can't there be one show where we just live in peace and have fun ? I see a lot of people keep pushing the petition to bring fate back and I just find it disrespectful when the creator of the show has expressed how he doesn't like this version basically and that he is making a proper one, and they are still out there being like nah let's continue this hot mes ... girlfriend stop (no offense to anyone liking it but I would be upset if my art got changed beyond recognition and my fans would actually support it instead when I announced that I want to remake it properly).
exactly! creators of SO MANY shows change the original story from female led to male led, and for what??? like why tf would we need that? can't we have a female protagonist?? ugh
and yeah, this is a whole different world, why make the same societal issues like homophobia or racism or misogyny a thing???
considering how much this video gave you a headache, and it's 2 hours long, im proud of you for getting it out 👏👏
thank you😭😭
I miss the days where the only Winx I know is the fun show that's just as much about friendship as it is about family dynamic. The show that gently introduce kid me to what family issues are and someway to overcome it, through cool and pretty fairy besties.. so much lost potential :"(
Aisha being the "token black girl" and the "black best friend" was infuriating.
9:15 sorry if i’m petty for this but i hope at least one of the actors from fate sees this video and feels ashamed of how they treated their roles with such disregard. like i really want them to be more embarrassed than they are lmao
yeah... it unfortunately looks like they are proud of it omfg
@doogieland3585 I disagree but yk 🤪 whateva 🤪
@Periodslayeditzaccording to this logic, a mute person can't give feedback on singing 🤔
Me too lol
@magicalashh yeah because you would know everything about every single person who criticised Fate, including their acting skills.
Also, I'm not a chef, but I'm able to tell if the food I'm eating taste horrible.
Your logic makes literally zero sense.
This show I honestly think could’ve been handled sooo much better than what it is
Yeah, such a missed opportunity!
They could have just made Techna a lighting fairy similar to Beatrix but just made her really adept with technology, I mean they completely changed Musa's magic sooo. But we'll never really know now will we lmao
That’s the thing!! She would be a good air fairy that has a connection to electricity and technology bc of that
@@LisaFevral Fr! Because we see Beatrix (and maybe some others?) messing with other characters phones and whatnot so it’s not a massive leap
The prequel book mentioned technology magic, I think they were preparing to introduce Tecna
I gotta say, I’m LOVING these deep dive videos; your view points are so interesting and you put it in a way that makes it so easy to watch a 2 hr long video all at once, I already watched your deep dive video about winx at least three times, honestly you are so great at this (a podcast from you would be a chefs kiss) anyway love the content Lisa, great work 👌🏻
omg thank you!! Also I do have a podcast, it's about fine art and pop culture mix haha it's linked in my channel header, and called "Ugh, As If!"
@@LisaFevral omg thank you for letting me know I will definitely check it out 🤩
I think a live action winx would always be hard to pull off, since the medium is far more limiting than animation. however there were so many other artistic options that would have created a better show than what fate was.
it is hard to pull off, but so many fantasy shows/movies manage to do it
I am loved so much you including K-pop memes of Zimbalazim and Anti-ti-ti-ti fragile will always be iconic.
Thank you so much for this Deep Dive into Fate: The Winx Saga! I agree so many characters like Flora and Aisha were so underutilized in the show.
thank you for talking about the show in such an eloquent & detailed way - i had so many thoughts and you perfectly worded it!
after all, i was still sad to see the show being cancelled, especially seeing the success it had & i will forever be mad at the missing 3rd season..
Yeah, cancelling on a cliffhanger is always terrible for the fans of the show
"a contest of who can get the most emotional"
💀💀💀 I am so dead
The wait is over ! So excited to watch this Lisa , your takes on Winx are always a joy :)
since I haven't watched Fate and don't intend to, I'm here just to praise the looks you're serving, thx 💖
Yeah there’s no reason for you to watch the show haha it’s nothing special
Your analysis has deepened and matured spectacularly. This video deserves over a million views for the research and care you've put it into it.
thank you😭😭 it's really nice to hear, especially when it doesn't have those views for the sake of encouragement ahaha
Finally got to sit down to watch this and oh MY god... if only the writers had done a fraction of the Research you did with this Video 🥲 incredible work as always💞
Thank you😭 I’m glad you liked it🥰🥰
Haven’t seen the show but at Anti-ti-ti-ti fragile, fragile i lost it, you really are a genius at editing (and the guy just chilling was hilarious)
he was just STANDING THERE PLS why are they like this😭😭😭😭
Your Analysis of shows are always so entertaining ! No matter the length of the video i just have so much fun watching it , and it always give me ideas to create my own things , thank you so much for your videos , they are really inspiring! About Fate i didnt even watched it , but i saw all the analysis on youtube , it was such a missed opportunity , and i just hope that the series can get a good adaptation in the future , that can respect the original while being creative .
I’m glad you like them🥰🤍 and I hope so too!
ah my favourite youtuber is back with a new video just when I was dying of boredom - thank you Lisa for making my evening so much better!
I remember when Icy wanted "CHRISTMAS POWERS" when bloom mentioned it in the original show I think in Season 1 and no one knew what the heck A Christmas
I think if fate had just a few things that were culturally special to the other world or solaria it would already do wonders
Wasn’t it season 5?
1:56:48 i think this could have been a good opportunity for sky (or anyone else) to go "i have no idea where that is" in a very deadpan manner. it couldve been a little comedic moment, but also would serve to further alienate Bloom in this new world and to show that yeah, things really are different now. nobody knows anything l about bloom or her culture, and she doesnt know theirs.
it would genuinely already add so much and make it feel like we ARE in a different world from earth
Fate the winx saga is definitely not a live action of winx club but instead it's own Fairy Fantasy show
Yeah, that's why I decided to do a deep dive talking about it as a separate entity
And that's the main problem with it for me. Its clear they just slapped Winx on this for nostalgia crashgrabbing didn't care about the source material. If they wanted to change the source material so much,it should been advertised as an original IP,not as adaptation.
Finally someone who speaks the truth about stellatrix 🙈 people romanticize that “you had me” so much that they fail to realise that no, stella wasnt there for beatrix when she really needed her and also a person you have only known for a few months cant replace family...
exactly!! I hated that so much! like she didn't even support her after bea's DAD died.
@@LisaFevral that’s the problem when you force a couple for the sole purpose of fan service, it’s so fake!!!
Wait…Stella and Beatrix dated? Lol 😂
The show had to do a “Bury your gays”. 🙄
the hair
girl
im screaming
your fits in each videos always got me on such a chokehold pffff
💖 we love a queen that go out of her way to experiment with different styles
Omg thank you😭😭😭
I have been following you for a couple months now and as someone who is interested in becoming a Creative Director for movies, I feel like I have learned so much from you. You are actually one of my favorite film critics. Keep up the good work girlie. 💖
(No offense if you liked it but I did not)
Yeah it felt like it wasn’t a country at all!!
Everyone sit down, the contemporary art queen posted
🤘🏻🥹🤘🏻
The male fairies denial is pissing me off for some reason, like MEN cant have shiny wings and pastel colored clothing ? They gave us the oversexualized, already tired bisexual twist for the represantation I guess? Bye 😭😭Also, I'm saying this as someone who has grown attached to the show + was excited to see season 3 after the finale
the show runner thought he was being progressive by having male fairies, and like?? they existed in the og too
Lisa I can't stress ebough how much more effort and research you put into Fate than any of the writers and producers of this series
I’d love to get paid as much as they do for giving as little of a damn as they do ahaha
If I knew nothing about the original Winx I would not be able to tell you why the girls like each other at all, or anything about the plot, like really I have no idea what Fate was even going for as their end goal it seemed like just a lot of teenage angst bs and fake feminism.
Just everyone is an ass to each other and for what😭
Bloom literally was horribly written, she’s meant to be the strong glue between the girls. The person that takes care of everyone and leads them like this bloom is too selfish to be bloom
She’s a keeper of a power that’s supposed to be giving life, so this makes no sense😭
O we know why Aisha wasn’t a princess…. And before anyone points it out…Bloom was clearly gonna be told she was a princess in season 3 or after.
To me the writer showed no growth from writing Bonnie from the vampire diaries.
In fact,Aisha and Bonnie are lowkey parallels.
yeah Aisha and Bonnie have SO MANY parallels it's insane. and I think they probably would've pulled the whole bloom is a princess thing for sure, if they wouldn't stick to the most honoured soldier bullshit. they are so obsessed with the military in this show, I wouldn't be surprised if they were like "You're the next dragon fire general" or some nonsense like that
@@LisaFevral like I laugh everytime I look at the specialist visibly alone, because you mean to tell me they’re going into actual battle looking like that? No actual body protection just vibes I guess.💀
Honestly I only watched this show for precious mustapha.
Hopefully Iginio actually does right by the next live action, because if he gets it right i honestly believe he could change the way magic/fantasy/sci-fi/teen drama shows are made.
And as much as I can’t stand bloom most times he could have his own Wanda/Jean grey.
(Even tho I still think Aisha and the water stars should’ve bonded elevating her magic to bloom and also giving her an actual weakness.)🥴
@@StormTheeOmega no fr, just vibes😭 ugh I found it so hard take them seriously……
Thank you Lisa for these 2 great hours! ✨
I literally watched it with more enthusiasm than the series itself.
You really exposed the series’ issues from an objective point of view (as always), entertaining us with your cute outfits ❤️!
I have to say that my favorite moment in each episode is the opening (lasting only 5 seconds though). I like the wings effects, the colours, the animation, the music. It’s literally the only thing that reminds me about the Winx Club and since it was the first thing we saw before Fate came out, it got me sooo excited 😁… but then sooo disappointed 😒 when I watched it.
Thank you again, love your Winx videos and your points of view, you’re perfect! 🥹❤️
I’m really glad you like the deep dive! And yeah the opening wings sequence is my favourite too ahaha
New Lisa Fevral video, deep dive even of Winx, day automatically improved. Amazing as always!
glad to see you excited about it haha🥰🥰
@@LisaFevral Always lovely to see your videos 💕
Ahh im so excited, this bout to be the best video u ever made... gurl few seconds in and u already slayed with that outfit. If only you were part of the shows production and had a say in these stuff, the show would've been a million times better and wouldve probably made so much more money too
Omg thank you😭😭 honestly, all they needed to do was care and not be ashamed of the source material to truly pull things from it!
I can’t understand how if Beatrix parents were assumedly blood witches then howwwww is she a fairy not a blood witch 😭
And even if her parents were fairies whyyy were they at the blood witch village😭 I have many questions 😭
yeah, it's so weird that Sebastian didn't tell Beatrix anything about it either, like wth was she doing at their village
@@LisaFevral and now we will never know 🤦♂️ at least the abomination is over
Your editing is so good and fun, I was laughing a lot :)
Omg I’m always so glad to hear that ppl found the edits entertaining😭
I've finished watching this deep dive yesterday and I want to let you know that I admire your dedication and appreciate all the effort you put into your videos ❤️ Sometimes I even watch the ones that are about shows that I've never watched. Heck, I watched only a few episodes of Fate, I was too bored to continue since it's too disappointing but I love listening to people discussing the show (or more like roasting it) 🔥
Omg I totally get that, I watch videos on shows I’ve never seen too ahaha especially if it’s by Jenny Nicholson
IVE BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS ONE
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR MY ENTIRE LIFEEE
LETS GOOOOO
Yeah the structure is too different to pull this old writing style out of the bag and expect it to feel organic!
I love UoW content! 🥰
What went wrong? Someone deciding to make a new winx series and forgetting to add their whole STYLE, and stripped away the concept of the world and the winx girls themselves. They literally took away what made them memorable, stylish, and what made them…winx.
Friendly reminder that Beatrix's actress was 17 when S1 was shot.
Yeah that’s like super weird considering the whole threesome thing omg
But she’s super talented
@@LisaFevral unfortunately it’s probably because the age of consent in the uk is 16
first video i watched from you and as someone who grew up watching the original winx show, i wholeheartedly agree with you. amazing analysis!! def got my sub :)
I'm glad you liked it🥰
Tecna being excluded from this still bothers me so much, but maybe its better lol considering what they done to other characters especially Aisha
Also i'm so glad I found this channel. I love the way you present your points and analysis in such a professional, for lack of a better word, way, but at the same time with a good dose of humor and dynamic to make the content boring to watch.
4:11 Female Specialists also existed, it's hinted at in the S1 episode where Darcy disguises as one.
Edit : oh wait she talked about it XD Well, I'll leave the comment for the algorithm
all of your looks in this are so gorg by the way the orange puff sleeve w the purple shimmer eye 😭😭so beautiful
thank you😭😭
Love me some of your winx deep dives 🙏🏾
I have heard this « oh yeah it’s not like the real story but it’s a good serie » type of argument so many times with Netflix series and I m so tired of it 😭 it’s the case for Fate ofc but it was also the case recently with Wednesday for example. They forget everything about the original show (the friendship between winx, the family relationship in Addams Family) and made a completly different story and background and atmosphere and then they just put a name that everyone already know because it will bring existing fandom. At the end all the series look the same and the themes are unoriginal 😢
Btw those deep dive video are also so well constructed Thank you Lisa ❤
Yeah I really don’t get what the point of taking an existing story and stripping it of it’s defining qualities is! Just make a new show entirely if you wanna do that😭
@@LisaFevral Boomers be lazy lol
