  • Input: pink barrel cam
    The cam of helical grooves of two opposite hands and different
    pitches gives the yellow slider a reciprocal linear motion. The go speed is fast and the back one is slow.
    During fast stroke the pressure angle on the slider is large but the motion is possible thanks to the pushing forces of the springs.
    Use a larger diameter for the cam and add a ball bearing for the blue pin if you need a smooth movement of the slider.
    This mechanism has not been verified in practice.

    Hi great stuff. Do you have a model where you simply release the spring fully? Idea is that the end hits and object like a ping pong ball.

      Modify the video model to meet your requirement:
      Longer the barrel cam and longer the two guide rods.
      When the springs are not compressed, the blue pin reaches the furthest point of the cam groove.

      The groove is generated by the Coil tool in Autodesk Inventor.
