Very cool and simple design. Ive been thinking about how to make something similar for quite some time now and always end up with something over-engineered. My only concern for this solution would be the reliability as the rubber grommet slowly wears out causing less resistance/shorter delay.

That's awesome I want to make a delay pull pin timer and also an impact trigger to set off a nail driver. 22 cartridge for an aîrsoft / Gelsoft sound grenade
This is basically what I need for the delay part

You can get a rubber grommet from a smoke shop for about 50 cents.

I know that feeling xD BUT! Dont clean it! I think a lot of charme of a workstation is lost if everything is shiny clean. I love workstations where you can see, that it is beeing used. Dirt is no problem, it just has to be tidy!

Agreed. Its a WORKstation, not a lab.

Can you make a parts list

If you can’t figure the parts list out, you really shouldn’t be making anything like this. First there are sharp edges/points with possible spring tension, you’ll poke your eye out. Secondly, with that 40 feet of wire you’ll definitely get it rapped around your neck and probably trip and fall. Please, stay away. Best of luck.

Sooo serendipitous! I wonder how I can use this to improve my spring airsoft grenade (I've been long time wanting to get thinking of a new impact trigger mechanism for it, but delay would work awesomely), the one I have now can only be used as a bomb trap tripped by wire because the spring is too heavy...nice work and sharing.

If a firing pin goes that slow after the delay, it stops on the primer cap unable to trigger the sulfer! you have to create a more powerfull spring tension after the delay in order to dent the fuse

If you are watching this and you are playing around with chemicals to make a DIY granade "just for fun" PLEASE DO NOT USE MECHANICAL TIME FUSE. What if "whateve" happens around you that inflicts strong vibrations is the "granade" and the pin slips while it's in your hand? Or you want to trow it Counter-Strike Style and want it to bounce off a wall? It becomes an Impact granade....tbh I just gave myself an Idea xddd
DON'T DO DRU- I mean EXPLOSIVES AT HOME
Only when there's no one around you to tell you anything/to be put in danger/to be able to call the cops.

Decent idea might try and copy it but 3d print it to make a airsoft flashbang with the ammo for cap guns

@@Preyhawk81 i got something to work but it was terrible tbh, it did work sometimes but did require some maintenance and i made it only use 1 cap, after it worked sometimes i kinda abandoned the project

@skop1219 why didn't yours work? Was the spring not hard enough to ignite caps?

You'd have to somehow connect the "shell" of the contraption to the body of whatever your wanting to use. You could use another connector & a threaded tube at the bottom of this. & it Could probly use a 209 primer even. Hope all that makes sense. Might have to make a video of my own to explain. I'd like to see.how he uses this tho.. We need a video update.

I saw a few over the years actually, but no delay on any of them. Which makes it kinds senseless.
