EXACTLY what I needed. I can use my own cardboard versions to show 4th graders how current electroromagnetism in coil of wire (moving magnetism, basically) uses rotational motion to create motion in other directions. Thank you!!! @racketman2u, you are right re: steam. Human ingenuity baffles and inspires me, as a teacher.

Disagree with crankshaft. Example shown converts linera motionn (piston) into rotational motion ( crankshaft) , not viceversa
Can also be for a compressor or pump
