That's just how Joker gets it done, lol. Joker is crazy but, also crazy intelligent. He's able to get the drop on the JL, Batman, and the Bat family.
That is what makes him such a great adversary to Batman. He is his prefect counterpart and what makes the Batman who laughs much more of a threat.

Woah, it's literally like Iron-man using his Hulk-buster armour to stop the raged Hulk on rampage, but the slight difference here is that, it's not about "anger & destruction", it's about "killing & having fun", it somehow is more intimidating than the Batman who laughs himself.
Only difference is that little to non of the "BUSTERS" Tony stark builds ever defeat the intended person (i.e Thor, Hulk)
The Batman who laughs seeks to end existence, but Superman who laughs thrives in chaos. As physically strong as BWL is, his mindgames are his greatest strength.
SWL however, isn't a manchild like Homelander and is hundred times more dangerous.

I normally hate seeing Batman get wins over multiple Justice league members. I think it demeans them to service Batman in often ungraceful ways...but if you're going to do it then THIS story is how you do it. It was made clear that the heroes were not under their own control, made clear that they were off their optimal speed/efficiency, we saw the actual COST of what it took to make this somewhat acceptable, Batman was on the edge of survival the whole time and not just looking cool and casual, and every member was taken out of the fight in a somewhat plausible way that was explained at length. This is the only instance in comic history (in my opinion) where this hypothetical actually was pretty cool to read.

(not a comic reader, just a TH-cam surfer) Reminds me of one portrayal where batman preps all these as countermeasures if the disproportionately strong powers that defend justice/etc went rebel. Batman who laughs, and the batman here, represent using those countermeasures as a weapon for either bad or good, like how violence could either harm or defend (as a basic level of difference)
Otherwise, if other portrayals do not address the story or the nuances behind the batman and the prep, it's basically rock paper scissors with extra steps.

Batman caught off guard, he's toast. Him, without gadgets, special armor, and enhanced abilities, he's done. But, with all his wonderful toys, he doesn't need special abilities. That's why he's feared by even characters who god like abilities.
Batman will bring anyone down without casualties. TBWL will do it, with many. The only difference is restraint.

They made it clear how dead Bats would have been if the heroes were operating at full mental capacity. Sure I like him having the prep thing, it makes sense since he's only human. But end of the day if he's much more than human the point of him is lost.

This isnt a "Superman Who Laughs" this is Superman infected by Joker venom, huge difference between this Superman and a full on Dark Multiverse not holding back thing. This is during the Endgame event, which results in Batman and Joker killing each other in the finale.
But they basically die in a pit of the stuff that revives Ras Al Ghul (or something like that) so they both end up revived, amnesiac and with low key superpowers. Batman still is enhanced by this and has low level super human strength, speed, processing strength and regeneration. Basically he got super low level basic powers added onto his already insane natural skills. Not too big a difference but he said his body felt/acted like it was 20 years younger and he was better than ever. He eventually becomes Batman and gets his memories back, but this also prompts Joker's memories to return.
Huh! That might actually explain the face getting slammed through concrete thing! And How joker knows how to boost his toxins power.

@@teleportedbreadfor3days Naw this is several years before that (and maybe a different continuity). This is one of the final stories in New 52 I think before Rebirth happens (I forgot exactly what merges the two continuities, either Wally West or Dr. Manhattan or Mxyzptlk restoring Superman to being 'full') and N52 and the old universe merge.
Batman is out for like a year(?) after this and Gordon takes over as Batman using a specialized war suit. Basically they needed a Batman so Gordon took over the roll using the suit for like a year. Batman actually returning kinda marks the end of N52. There was still a few stories left (like Darkseid War where the League becomes Gods for a bit) but this is pretty much the BIG finale to Bruce Wayne stories in N52. Pretty much he and Joker have just both been escalating at each other and not holding back as much. Basically Joker decides to stop screwing around and REALLY showcase everything he can do in one big final attempt to kill Batman. No more just playing with Batman for games, its the Endgame (which is the name of the arc lol). There were times in the past Batman could really trick or break Joker (like Joker was willing to throw himself off a waterfall rather than acknowledge Batman was Bruce Wayne earlier) but now Joker is like actively showing up to his house and targeting his family/"real" life. He's beyond caring, he wants to end it.
Then Rebirth happens and all these events... kinda happened kinda didnt. Like each hero has had several timelines of history they remember. Like Hal Jordan was/wasnt Parallax, Batman did/didnt die to Darkseid, Superman did/didnt found New Krypton and so on. Even major events like Blackest Night and Final Crisis are like weird happened/didnt happen memories to the heroes. So while Endgame did happen, in this new continuity the events were different.

He only wants to take him down, not to kill. He did the same thing on the other DC issue when the league of doom went against the justice league by using batman's protocol.

speaking as an outside observer who's never really gotten into comic books, this "X who laughs"/omniverse arc strikes me as suffering from many of the same problems that the Heroes tv series did after time travel was introduced - fascinating, epic world building ruined because all stakes have been removed; nothing matters because anyone can be resurrected and no tragedies are permanent

Power creep is not a problem if done well.
Sure, Omniverse busting seems overpowered, but when you read Sandman and Lucifer stories, it comes very naturally.

The thing that kind of annoys me about the Superman vs Batman thing is that, If Superman in his right mind decided he wanted to kill Batman he could easily. He could literally just fly into orbit, wait till Batman goes outside and fly through his body at Mach seven. But Superman would never do that or even attack Batman. So writers have to come up with these convoluted reasons why Superman goes crazy or whatever which makes the whole thing unsatisfying because at that point Batman isn’t fighting superman he’s fighting a person with Superman’s powers. And the other thing is that they always make Superman kind of stupid in these story lines. Why would Superman play by Batman’s rules? IE So Batman has kryptonite, okay why go any where near him? For goodness sake just throw 50 ton steel beams at him from a thousand yards away. Or just drop them on his ass from orbit rods of God style. The writers from what I’ve seen anyway in these Batman vs Superman stories railroad Superman into being really stupid and cocky while also conveniently forgetting about which ever sections of his powers would be hard to deal with at any given momemt.
If anyone asks me how I think Batman can defeat the Justice League or at least Superman, I feel like this is the most likely way he’d do it, suit, gum and all. This almost feels perfectly written

Why does Batman have this suit to fight superman but not to fight any of the dozens of super villains with super strength and durability? Also, if the suit was anywhere near tough enough to battle Superman, dropping a building on it would do nothing... its just a hollow box of brick and steel, if you collapsed a building on any decent large safe it would come out with maybe a few scratches on it. You need concentrated power to get through armor.

Actually the suit had already taken a good amount of damage from Wonder Woman and Flash( who had their speed nerfed sure, but were bloodlusted and weren't pulling back their punches). And then it took two more hits from Superman, one was a speedblitz through a building, and another was being ramped by a giant pillar straight through the floor down to the sewers. It was after taking all that damage did it finally got toppled by a building.
Why the hell would he hit Superman out of the underground into the sun? Just keep pummeling him with the red suns depowering him.
Why did that collapsing building do anything? If the suit was designed to fight Superman wtf is a falling building going to do?
The suit can't take a Superman lunch. The red suns drain his strength making his hits weaker. The suit was designed to stall and maybe incapacitate. Not beat. The building hit harder then a depowered supes from the red sun radiation
Think, carefully, Batman. He *KNOWS* you will try to send them some place safe. Might actually have a contingency plan for if they try to come to your aid.
Best to keep them as close to harm as you can, without being in the blast radius.....
Stories like this one make you wonder if the Justice League is just Batman's personal hero outsourcing company. Somehow even when everyone else is out of commission, Batman has some random set of exacting backup plans. DC will never convince me that his superpower is anything but being hyper rich 😆

If you read the comic for yourself you can see in the begining he did not have prep time.he was already prepared before hand. the fight started with WW ramming into him bloodlusted (all of the JL members present were bloodlusted with killing intent) and all Bruce wayne was wearing was a T-shirt and Pants and yet he still managed to suit up. thats why i always say Batmans character is that hes always prepared. at least Modern Batman is.
I hope DC balances this fight out one day with Superman having to take on a mind-controlled/corrupted version of Batman (yes, with full prep-time). That's exactly what should have happened at the end of DARK NIGHTS: DEATH METAL, in my opinion.

If I were in that universe I’d want to build myself a new body using kryptonian dna as a starting point. But take the body to the watchman universe and recreate the dr. Manhattan accident. Then as a dr. Super Manhattan I would simply divide my body into trillions of copies, and send each copy to absorb solar radiation from all of the most powerful yellow suns in the multiverse. And I’d also go around and just touch everything and instantly understand it and everything about it. Magic, power rings, etc.

That's gotta be the laziest batman vs superman fight I've seen since the live action movie. Superman with "killing intent", in the eyes of a speedster" lays himself in front of batman to get hit. I mean come on, red sun fists? How about kryptonite fists and then use red sun panels to keep him in one spot, and just keep pumping kryptonite gas or beating him with kryptonite fists. Batman doesn't want to kill superman, got it, but you're not gonna at least try to disable him? Break his legs? Or cover his eyes? Nope just throw him into the open street where your fists are useless since the regular sun is on top of superman.
The ending message "who wins in a fight? The answer is always the same. Neither of us." Like bruh, can you be any more condescending? It's not our fault you're too lazy to come up with a good excuse to have batman be outwitted by superman. Instead you rely on the fact that BATMAN is too unprepared to fight Superman without restriction, as if they are different characters.

Depends on the version, batman with the Final suit could see into anyone's mind and hearts and rewrite them cell by cell. It allows batman to take on some god level characters.

What I didn't understand is how superman escaped when bruce had him pinned with the red giants, the red suns should've absorbed into his skin and completely disabled his powers, and yet he just jumps out like its fine? And how did he get snuck up on if the suit was designed to react to speedsters?
Also Bruce seriously didn't think to put any sort of kryptonite weaponry in the suit? no kryptonite bullets, blasters, swords, nothing?
Maybe it’s like humans with adrenaline when Superman is on the fear-toxin. He doesn’t feel the pain or weakness as quickly so he can push through the red-giants enough to make a play
If I'm not mistaken, red sun energy doesn't work exactly like kryptonite, where it doesn't make him completely powerless, it just keeps him from constantly absorbing yellow sun energy, but he still has his powers from the yellow sun energy he absorbed before the encounter.
For the kryptonite weapons, I'm sure the writers only wanted batman to use kryptonite in the least possible way and as a last resort which only makes sense considering Clark is Bruce's closest friend and any prolonged exposure could lead to death

As much as I enjoyed Snyder's run on batman, i always hated his joker stories. Joker is at his best when he's causing chaos, this is just too much of an intricate planning he had to do to pull off. joker might as well be just as resourceful as Batman considering how he bioengineered each toxin and got to each member. Come on man.

He doesn't keep it in his mouth. He kept a tablet inside the helmet of the mech suit, to use as a last resort when the suit fails

Lex had the kryptonite ring for years and he never went without it. Batman kept it in the suit probably behind lead so he was safe. You can touch radioactive stuff in small quantities and be fine (below a certain level obviously)
