No hate on CE, but the 90 minute video by Mullet Man Comics is still worth watching for a better understanding of WHAT The Maker has been through and done (called Marvel's Ultimate Villain).
I swear. Having Miles Teller reprise his role as reed but as the maker variant would be such an easy win for Marvel. You get the fan service, serves the story with a really interesting character and you know Teller could really deliver that.
The signs were there the whole time. Socially awkward, Father wanted a son like Ben. Sue liked him.... but hes emotionally unavailable & obsessed with his work. What a huge disservice to his origin. Ultimates disassembled is not Maker “doing bad for the sake of bad” Its revealed in Ultimates Disassembled that the entire time since Reed faked his own death, he was following the plans of Kang, aka future Susan Storm, who strings him along promising them to be reunited as lovers if he follows her specific plan to save the world from a cataclysm described as far worse than ultimatum. Reed goes so, so far and betrays so many people and loses his humanity along the way to achieve this plan, only for Susan to arbitrarily say that the key moment has passed and the future is lost. Susan leaves, abandoning Reed again and leaving everyone in the unknown as to wether she was lying or if Reed really was going to save the world. Incredible origin. Butchered video.
The way it's communicated seems to depict that The Maker came to be fucked up after ultimate doom and that cang simply put him on the path to becoming that villain so he would help achieve her goals. Hence why she doesnt just tell him to invent the city. She needs him to gain the drive to do so by losing.
@saulgoodmanskin from my understanding (basically what I’ve pieced together from the video and other comments) Reed had a gradual descent into complete villainy as opposed to the sudden dive the video makes it out to be. Ultimate Reed is seemingly more socially awkward and less well adjusted than Regular 616 Reed, he’s basically the stereotypical quiet kid in school, but Reed actually manages to hold on to his morality at first, and has the same desire to fix the world as his other counterpart. I don’t have a ton of knowledge on the Ultimate universe in general, but to my understanding, a big part of it seems to be about dialing up the worst/most flawed aspects of the Marvel characters and going off from there. One of Reed’s greatest flaws is his single minded approach to that desire to fix the world, even if he ends up neglecting his family in the process, and the Ultimate version of these characters dialed up this conflict until it broke up that version of the Fantastic 4. Just from the snippets in the video, it seems as though it wasn’t just that Susan herself was in danger, but she became endangered while trying to save her brother from Dormamu, so it’s also not like Reed abandoned Susan or anything, but he chose to go and save the world when Sue really needed his help and I guess that was the last straw. Coupled with everything else, these events ultimately broke up the team. To me, Susan’s actions were slightly selfish but also understandable. It makes sense why her Ben and Johnny would leave, because Reed had shown that he would always put his dream of fixing the world before any of them, but I can only imagine the effect these events would have had on Ultimate Reed. He lost the only family he cared about, the woman he loved, his only real support group, doing what he believed to be the right thing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he felt somewhat betrayed by them because of that. Another important thing that was only slightly touched upon in the video was how Ultimate Reed contemplated dealing with his version of Doom. There is a comic snippet about it in the video where Reed realized that in order to solve the problem of Doom for the greater good he would have to get rid of Doom permanently even though Reed doesn’t believe he’s capable of doing that. Why this is important is because it marks a point where Reed shows some willingness to making cold, logical decision in his pursuit of fixing the world regardless of the morality or brutality of said decision, which I think displays the makings of his eventual descent to the Maker. It is also somewhat inline with even 616 Reed who has been shown to make difficult, even cold decisions in the name of protecting his world and his family. Now this all comes to a head with Ultimate Kang (Sue Storm) who took advantage of Reed and all of his flaws by convincing him to help her save the world, and get back those he loved in the process. Like the other comment said, Kang strung him along, bringing out and encouraging the worst parts of him while she used him to enact some mysterious plan to save the world. Eventually, she abandoned him again for circumstances known only to herself, but the damage had already been done, she’d warped Reed from the person he was into a cold machine-like individual blinded by his singleminded desire to fix the world, and that to me was what ultimately led to the Maker. The other stuff were just the final nails in the coffin, but I think at this point Reed was already well on his way to becoming the Maker.

I blame ultimate Sue storm aka Kang she messed up that timeline and made him the maker. Also that break up did not help. Reed premaker didn’t mess up other than proposing at a funeral
Rob butchered this episode. Ultimates Disassembled revealed EVERYTHING since him faking his death was because she was stringing him along to save the world on the promise they would get back together because of it. She literally made him destroy his own life, she gave him the clear push to do what he may have considered in the back of his head, but she made it SOUND LOGICAL. But yeah rob just glosses over that, then, in one of the darkest moments, she just states “the moment has passed” and disappears forever, abandoning Reed again
well he was focusing on his work more than her + her father's death made her feel distant atm so understandable but i agree like at least in the context of ultimatum, reed did nothing wrong. He made sure sue was fine then went to try and stop magento which was important. He definitely should have made the effort tho to put importance on her tho which would have been a cool distinction between him and 616 as well as character development for a reed that was sorta not so attached but alas ultimate universe was mishandled
To be fair, he did scratch dr doom's face out of pure pettiness and he always seemed to be disappointed with his own progress and discovery. He even let ben down by completely ignoring that he promised to find a cure. He unceremoniously killed dr doom after realizing that he simply can't let him live. He was already showing his darker side for quite some time at that point.

god I love the maker so much, he's the perfect example of turning a hero evil. and even though he's taken awhile to build up, I'm happy it's starting to pay off massively.
I think you skipped over a key part. We don't know why he faked his death and why he started attacking super heroes. You left off by saying their engagement got called off and Kang told him the world is ending, then he faked his death and started killing superheroes? That seems like a major watershed moment for him but his true motivations weren't covered, are we to assume he is the way he is because of the breakup and his childhood? I don't mean to sound harsh when I say this, just that I've been looking forward to this video for about a year 😅.
No , he explained this already, ever since ultimate reed saw how his life could be with his 616 counterpart, all that with lack of empathy towards humans and what not, he wants to create a perfect world, hence the name “the maker” hence the new ultimate Spider-Man run. He knew things wouldn’t end well for his universe, so he manipulated events to get what he wants, and he succeeded, I trust Hickman will do right with the new ultimate universe.
Miles Teller, who played Reed Richards in the F4 reboot bears an uncanny resemblance to Pedro Pascal when he was much younger. It’d be a really intriguing and fitting idea if they used Miles Teller for a future Maker casting, alongside Pedro Pascal.
I have been waiting for the maker to get into the MCU for so long and now that the F4 is coming we are one step closer. He is one of my favorite villians which is interesting because I find Reed Richards boring
In Ultimate Fantastic Four, there was a brief subplot where Doom switched bodies with Reed. I always thought that he was never fully switched back and that is what led to the Maker
Donny Cates got in a bad car accident and suffers from amnesia of like 6 or 8 months of his life prior to the crash, apparently he genuinely can’t remember what he came up with and was genuinely shocked by some of his own work when he reread them so Hickman was asked to take over, we can assume he’s working from whatever notes Cates may have made pre-crash.

Uhm, I’m lost. Even so, it seems extremely out of character and not sufficient enough context to explain how Ultimate Reed could become so evil
@saulgoodmanskin from my understanding (basically what I’ve pieced together from the video and other comments) Reed had a gradual descent into complete villainy as opposed to the sudden dive the video makes it out to be.

Mullet Man Comics made a FANTASTIC video covering The Maker.
There's a distinct lack of "It's AWESOME" in this video. Not saying that's bad.
Great video man, I never knew about any of this.
I just want to clarify, I really like the tone of this video.
Anytime The Inhumans are mentioned, I love his reaction everytime. Always takes time to take a proper shyt on them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Appreciate this video bro ‼️🗣️
A video like this but with visual timelines so I can keep track of all the multiverse jumping next please
At this point I just show up for the Black Bolt slander. Lol
I think that you meant SECOND fiddle 😂
Anyways great video brother.. looking forward to more of your Marvel Comics videos 👑
Thank you for this!
a guy named Derek Martinez on youtube and ig made me discover your channel amd ive loved it ever since
Some people came here to learn about the maker since he’s in marvel rivals lol
Damn you made this video quick
The maker is such an insane villain and freaking crazy and a monster in my opinion.
blackbolt catching strays never gets old 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for this 😊
Miles Teller, who played Reed Richards in the F4 reboot bears an uncanny resemblance to Pedro Pascal when he was much younger.
Same, I appreciate and respect the Fantastic Four, but never found them THAT interesting, but The Maker is one of my favorite villains.
In Ultimate Fantastic Four, there was a brief subplot where Doom switched bodies with Reed. I always thought that he was never fully switched back and that is what led to the Maker
Again; you've got to do a breakdown of Warren Ellis' Planetary. ESPECIALLY now that John Cassaday has passed away.
13:23 rob takes an inevitable shot at black bolt.... predictable but still fukkn funny! Inhumans always catch a stray!!😂😂
I've always loved Maker. Glad his profile is rising.
If I’m playing rivals and sue is on my team I’m using default skin if she’s not using the maker
That thumbnail is a real eyesore.
You got farmed that bad on there huh?
Oooo I've wanted this for awhile
I just realize Rick and Morty took this storyline 💀
Donny Cates got in a bad car accident and suffers from amnesia of like 6 or 8 months of his life prior to the crash, apparently he genuinely can’t remember what he came up with and was genuinely shocked by some of his own work when he reread them so Hickman was asked to take over, we can assume he’s working from whatever notes Cates may have made pre-crash.
"Well... Isnt this fascinating."
~ Maker (3 or 4 [similar] times during video)
👍
I die every time you bust on Blackbolt or bust on preptime. So funny.
Thank you for this I’m am somewhat up to speed now 👍🏻
Need a collage video of you saying that black bolt sucks and then a breakdown on why you have this distain for this character😂😂😂
Marvel rivals made me interested in the marvel universe I didnt think marvel has this depth anyone know how to start?
Rob has lots of great playlists
Rob has a ton Benny at comicstorian had a ton before he passed and mullet man comics is one of my favorites for short stories
This skin was an instant buy for me when it dropped. The Maker was dope!
Never miss an opportunity to take shots at Black Botl😂
13:24 had me dying laughing 🤣
Oh, how far Ultimate Reed Richards has fallen…………
