I feel like the bond between Alfred and Bruce is the strongest thing in the entire DC universe. Alfred and Bruce are just perfectly paired. Alfred is Bruce's only real family, and the Batfamily is Alfred's family. Yes other characters have strong family bonds, but Alfred and Bruce, or Alfred at Batman technically, is just on a whole other level.
It is sincerely one of the most underrated aspects to all comic book breakdowns overlooked time and time again. I personally think that is why Batman is so persevering thru out the ages of comic books. Batman is easily the "king" of the DC universe, let us be real. Superman maybe the strongest, but he isn't the most popular amongst DC fans. The only other "coupling" of men in comics that comes close, is Xavier and Wolverine/Cyclops (depends on the era, early on it was Cyclops, then later as Wolverine gained popularity in his own comic - * way before* the movies- and eventually took over the X-men). But later it was mainly Xavier and Wolverine, they wrote off Scott Summers into a love story and self-identity issues, as Wolverine exited that love triangle - weird times - .... Anyways I digress massively. Alfred and Bruce are the best " Father-Son" duo ever. With the elders knowledge helping lead the younger virile ones aim, to bring about *actual* justice. Because that was one of the other aspects that is seriously overlooked, Alfred insight and advice, and how much it overflows, or as acknowledge even outside of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Alfred is a cornerstone to DC , and to the Comic universe as a whole really. He is ONE of the most important characters in all of comic book history.
Absolutely. Alfred and Bruce’s bond truly defines the heart of Batman’s story, making Alfred not just a father figure but Bruce’s real family. Unlike any other pairing in comics, their relationship isn’t just about guidance-it’s about unconditional love, grounding Bruce in a world of darkness and isolation. Alfred’s wisdom and devotion shape every victory, every choice, and every moral line Batman holds. Their connection is the emotional core of the DC universe, giving Bruce a heart beneath the armor and showing us that even the most driven heroes need someone who simply loves them unconditionally. Alfred’s influence transforms Bruce’s pain into a mission for justice, not vengeance, making their relationship the greatest father-son bond in comics. It’s this love that elevates Batman beyond just strength or courage. It’s what makes him whole. And that last scene where he takes Bruce in his arms… he is literally his son, and that love they let us see melts anyone. Alfred would do anything for his son, he is so loving and delicate after what he just did to Superman. This duo gives us a human connection, something real to hold onto in a world of masks and shadows. Even Batman’s heart is held together by love. I love them too much! DC would never be the same without them.
The amount of restraint that Alfred showed here was incredible. Had I been in his same shoes in the same situation, I may have given into my anger and beaten superman to death honestly. But good for Alfred for protecting his family and doing things the right way.
Do you mean the fact that Superman was an emotional wreck so therefore he wasn't thinking straight, so instead of full out going off on Alfred and killing him he wasn't a hundred percent himself. You were super powers couldn't even do anything with Superman

Because of that, Alfred is forever grateful to the Wayne family. It's just coincidentally convenient he was also a highly trained soldier before they met

Every hero in DC loves and respects Alfred. Hearing him say he's disappointed in you would be soul crushing. That's (SPOILERS) probably why later in the Injustice story Superman puts a hit out on Alfred.
Alfred only applied the necessary amount of punishment to demoralize Superman because he's a gentleman even with all the anger he had. Alfred is one of the most mentally stable characters in DC Comics.
Alfred does have one of the highest body counts among DC universe good guys. One of my favorite bits is when Alfred was kidnapped by a group of mercenaries, and while Batman is chasing after the truck it explodes and goes over a cliff. Batman is grieving Alfred's death, when Alfred comes into view walking along the road. Ex-SAS, and one of their best.
I like how even when out of anger nearly beats superman to death, Alfred, still holds back just enough so superman didn't die. Not only did he give the ass whooping he's been waiting to hand out but he also still upheld the beliefs of his bat family by not killing others especially out of anger even if they deserved it. Alongside with his son Bruce and all the young ones they took under their wing, Alfred, definitely showed the true restraint it takes to not cross over that line after given the chance to take it all out on the man that hurt his family he helped raised.

Never piss off the butler. That’s honestly a fictional staple at this point. Maybe getting close to a stereotype. I for one am here for it. Never piss off the butler. Awesome video.

Alfred seems to be responsible for Bruce's family finances and keeps him a billionaire since he was a child and still has the time to take care of the mansion and batcave. Alfred's abilities are borderline superhuman. Super Butler. He obviously graduated from the same academy as Mary Poppins.
Mary Poppins in the book was rather scary. There are a few scenes in the movie where you see that come out. She's really some kind of twisted narcissistic demigod. In the book I think there is a passage that mentions that the other magical creatures she introduces the children to are frightened of Mary Poppins. I still love the remix of the trailer where they turn it into a horror movie. :P
I've always loved Alfred, but seeing him go literal hulk on Super Man is..... beyond epic. Never piss off the ones who love their family. Never hurt Bruce and never hurt his boys. Alfred will F--K you up.
Gotta love Alfred's ability to read the moment, he wasnt nearby when this started but probably arrive in time to see them looking at the machine and pill and bruce explain it can be replicated and once they turned their attention to each other he swoops in like "guess I'll take this hostage then since bruce can make more." And steps in, sharpest tool in the shed, alfred.
Alfred with Superman’s strength, endurance, and durability is broken. The man was in the SAS, the SAS training is so tough it’s claimed lives. He’s probably extremely tenacious, and probably has soo much willpower that if he wasn’t disciplined from his training I’d say he would’ve easily buried Superman there and then.
I can just imagine a conversation like this later on: "Allright Clark, we know where the supervillain is hiding!" "Good. Where?" "Herefordshire, England" "Ummmm.... You go ahead." "What's up Supes?" "I... don't go there. There's more like... HIM... living there."
There was something I took a note of when Is looking at the last panel. Alfred said "There is nothing In here worth saving" as it showed Superman trying to pick himself up. This shows that even Alfred has Completely given up on Superman If the beating didn't make it clear. He would have killed him and probably would have if it weren't for Bruce's no killing code.
I feel something goes deeper then even that. Batman's code has been not to kill anyone, that he can contain and rehabilitate criminals, it's one of his greatest virtues and flaws, as someone like the joker cam never be redeemed, and in that sense its that code that let the joker keep living after his crimes that let him eventually perform the act that caused Clark to kill Lois. But in Alfred's case, who's been there all this time with Batman/Bruce as he upheld his no kill code, while Bruce believed everyone can be saved from themselves, Alfred saying "there's nothing worth saving here", is Alfred forgoing Bruce's beliefs, kinda showing how Alfred isn't flawed like Bruce, he doesn't have the inbuilt mental hangup about not killing. He could have killed superman, with the same force Doomsday did, he just decided Clark was beyond even trying to redeem. Let's not forget too, the joker was a psychopath and held no bonds with anyone, but superman made bonds with his fellow superheroes. He killed Green Arrow, someone who was his friend. That ultimately makes this superman more of a monster then the joker, because what monster kills someone they once cared for?
@@MrOrcshaman Well that was kind of the point I was making. Alfred follows Bruce's no kill rule not because he agrees with it but out of respect for Bruce. But you're also right that it's his biggest flaw, and what made it worst was he stopped others from killing joker snd even saved him from dying even though he had no real obligation too and criticized others for killing Regardless for their reasons. He even had the audacity to try and reprimand Clark for killing Joker even after what he did and didn't even try to comfort Clark after what happened. No one can argue that Clark Was justified in killing him and no judge would dare trial him for it, but that should have been where it ended. Also the fact of him being a bigger monster then Joker is debatable. Sure Joker had no Meaningful bonds while Superman did, he mostly killed in his fits of rage. Joker kills just for kicks he believed life had no meaning. So personally I think someone who kills with no emotion behind It are definitely bigger monsters.
@@michaelmurray8134 I guess its open for debate, who is the worst monster, someone who kills their friends they have bonds with without just cause, or someone who just kills anyone indiscriminately

Injustice is interesting because of how emotional it is. Just about every scene involving superman, you can find some way that it could all end. Some way that he could see the light and realize how far he's strayed. This was one of those moments, had Alfred not been so emotionally wounded. Superman had that moment of clarity. Repulsed by his own actions, torturing his best friend after murdering one of his closest friends. The calm voice of a common but wise man could have been the voice of reason and disappointment he needed to hear. Instead he got one of the worst beatings in the series. And you know what? It makes sense. All of these awful decisions are what happens when emotions rule your life. That's the point of injustice, in a way.
You are assuming that Alfred was wrong. I don't think he was. I think Alfred beat Supes arse because he realized nothing would get through to him. That Supes was so far gone in his own desire for self destruction he could and would justify anything. He might have a momentary pause when he realizes he crossed another line but he would keep crossing them. Supes was on a downward spiral. Maybe the only reason to keep him alive was so he could be brought to justice, not put down by vengeance.
No matter how rational and no matter how logical. At the end of the day we all make our decisions based off of emotion. The best we can do is temper those emotions with reason. Would super have realized his tyranny was wrong? The answer was he already knew it was, but he never had the strength to stop himself. It's the same as in the justice league when he breaks a device meant to provide power to the city of Metropolis that Lex Luther made, and his only reason is because Lex made it. He's always been an off the rails emotional time bomb, just this time he didn't have Lois to be his anchor.
Alfred raised him... he is frequently depicted patching him up after he's gotten seriously injured. Alfred is no stranger to being stronger or far more capable then his employer. He does it cause he cares about Bruce. He calls him sir cause that's the job title. He's his butler. No matter his strength capabilities or position as long as he wants to remain in the same position he will keep the same power dynamic. He calls him sir cause he wants to call him sir.
Alfred is the single greatest character in, not only in DC or comics, but in ALL of creative fiction. Everything about him defines perfection...and he was in plain sight yet no one was able to notice. That is the HIGHEST form of perfection, Unnoticable Perfection.
He's great, no doubt. But there are far too many fictional characters that exist to truly single out the greatest. Not to mention the subjectivity/objectivity of this matter.
Wait... unnoticeable... thinning hair... super strength... does that mean he's basically becoming British Saitama? And does that mean Superman was on the receiving end of his first "Normal Headbutt"?
My favorite part about injustice. Alfred got to take revenge against the man who was responsible for taking 2 of his grandchildren and tortured his son. Alfred has one of the saddest stories really. He knows the boy he loves like a son will never find happiness becoming Batman. But he lets his son make that choice anyway and helps the best he can. He watches his son descend ever deeper into darkness stopping just short of becoming the monsters hes fighting and he still cant help him so he just does the best he can. He watches his sons best friend turn on him and turn the world against him. Watches that dictator take his sons own son from him and murder his adoptive son. Sees the pain that causes his son and it nearely breaks him and STILL he keeps trying only to have his sons best friend attack and torture him. And FINALLY he gets to defend his son. And protect him. Instead of just having to watch it all happen. He deserves that

@@DevitticusBellmont22 For real.
Superman was the one fighting the strongest man on Earth.
Good point, but I think atleast in this scene Alfred was the strongest man on earth😅
BvS/Justice League was awful in the characterisations but made me smile whenever these 2 interacted; Specially when Batman says he works for Alfred
Never piss off the father. And never, never piss off the grandfather. And Clark just pissed off Alfred on both accounts.

Disappointed alfred :

@mavishenry8326 It isn't necessarily because lex made it imagine Hitler making a power source. Would anyone trust him to do that no.
"I am so disappointed in you." says a lot more than just Alfred being disappointed in someone.
The most impressive thing about alfred is that he is more powerful than Superman and still calls Bruce "sir"
Alfred raised him... he is frequently depicted patching him up after he's gotten seriously injured. Alfred is no stranger to being stronger or far more capable then his employer. No matter his strength capabilities or position as long as he wants to remain in the same position he will keep the same power dynamic. He calls him sir cause he wants to call him sir.

He says “ hopefully you don’t disappoint “
And everyone will remember this as the day Alfred used 1% of his power.
Trust me Alfred would do anything do Bruce. He loves him as a son
In One story he make himself the joker because all other villan are crap and he know the bat-persona was "healty" for master bruce
@@francescozanzottera3381 And in a cannon story, he executed every criminal on the planet and then killed the JLA for trying to stop him.
@@TheArcSet wait what how he do that

Honestly, It's believable. Alfred is the most principled character in all of DC and if you somehow make him an enemy...he WILL come out on top.

11:12 Never. EVER. Tick off. The Butler.
Harley: You ain't so tough Superman.
Superman: What gives you the idea?
Harley: Alfred knock your freakin ass out.
Alfred is the GOAT
I think the most painful blow Superman received was when Alfred told Bruce "there's nothing worth saving here..."
I seriously cannot get over how he kicked him so hard his shoes exploded
The Injustice series was epic. It was a slippery slope Clark started down, justifying heinous acts as being for the greater good. Eventually he became the very thing he once despised. What was surprising was how many of the former justice league followed him down this dark path. In the end, it was only fear that kept many at his side.
Fuck Injustice Superman, Alfred is the GOAT and reading him beat tf out of Supes was so amazing
It wasn't really much of a fight since captain atom just blew up in Superman's face about as few minutes ago and knocked out Diana
@@Bruh_memess And? It's still satisfying to see Alfred beat the fuck out of Injustice Superman, he's an asshole dictator who goes on to murder Captain Marvel, Billy Batson, who is a child
@@ChrisVillagomez it's not satisfying
This is like if aunt May from Sam Raimi's Spiderman can defend herself against Green Goblin.
I can’t stop myself from laughing when I think that Alfred A FREKING BUTLER was able to beat the shid of the man of steel
Alfred Pennyworth is no mere Butler. The Wayne family have enough money to pay for the best & their "butler" is so much more than an ordinary butler
Same
No one fucks with Alfred without balls of steel or a death wish. Batman believes in carrying out Justice through Vigilantism. Alfred believes in carrying out Justice through two things, Smith and Wesson.
Although listed as redacted, it's heavily implied that Alfred is a former SAS commando.
Superpill
8:39 - The video starts here.
One of my favorite DC moments of all time, and this video portrayed it extremely well. 10/10
The way he said "There's nothing worth saving here" was just cold🥶
Honestly "There's nothing worth saving here." Is such a badass line.
"There's nothing worth saving here"
Alfred be destroying Supes with more than just his fists and feet.
This was Alfred's Best and Badass Moment and a Moment to Shine. He is now The Butler of Steel.
"Master Bruce, I was also able to secure the pill for later use, if need be."
Alfred never ate the pill, he just took it. May god have mercy on Superman’s soul if Alfred actually ate it.
Superman:Out of my way
Alfred:”removes gloves”
Its time to pick up the trash
7:30 why does everyone love to break Batman’s back 😂
HOLY SMOKE, Alfred is THAT strong (or maybe I misread)? Wow, he is 100% proof that the nicest people are ALWAYS the scariest when they get angry, enough to cause Superman to drop his guard and took a beating even worse than that with Doomsday. Whis' words from Dragonball is so facts.
He took the pill that gave him that power
@@maybe339 he didn't
@@teramiller4922 He did. The pill Bruce was scanning was absent, and Alfred is a normal human being (sort of). He couldn't beat up Superman without the pill.
@@isaiaholaru5013 tell me you didn't read batman without telling you read batman

Let’s all have a moment of silence for Alfred, the singular greatest DC character. And the family he has lost.
The second most dangerous being on the planet 10:48
alfred isnt just bruces butler.
hes the closest thing to a father he has.
bruce is like a son to alfred.
and to the extended bat family, he's their grandfather.
this is entirely in character for alfred to snap like this given the hell his family was put through.
I think so highly of Alfred for letting Bruce solve shit in gotham every night wihout interfering, bc i think if it was per Alfred he would already killed Joker on the first shenanigan he pulled.
Ah yes my favorite scene in ALLLLL DC comic history
The time when Alfred completely bodied Superman without breaking a sweat
"Alfred doesn't work for me, I work for him"
-Batman
