One thing you can do is purchase a Polaris Ranger with a utility bed. That way you can drive in from where you parked your van and have something to haul supplies.

That was my first thought too. I bought about 30 acres of forested land with an old logging trail. Hiked everything in for 2 years until I finally decided I needed at least a four wheeler to get my gear in and out quickly.

I completely get why you did it without having seen any other video of yours and based on one statement: "I hope the old pieces of me start showing themself again". The doubt, and moments of regret, the trials, and the struggles, are what you need to find yourself again. I have no idea what caused you to lose yourself but I do know what caused me to lose mine. I wish you the best on this journey of self discovery. Congrats on setting out to get yourself back. That's huge in itself.

Well done Tyler! I am a 74 yr gran watching your adventures from South Australia, and I can remember our own start was similar. You will have a lovely place if you just keep focussed and grow it. Get your big trees in first that you need to create a micro climate, then you can build while they grow. I am so encouraged to see you creating something beautiful and a hug for your little dog

Love this comment Heather! That's exactly what we're doing with our property in NE VIC. We've been establishing trees the last few years , especially in our front paddock to try to get the micro climate established first. It's so rewarding when you see some of your trees are FINALLY giving off some shade too 🤗

I’ll second Ann Butler’s recommendation on buying a Polaris. I’ve owned a standard 4-wheeled Polaris (570 EFI) for 9 years, using it to pull a mower, and to tow a heavy duty dump cart that I fill with all manner of things around the farm. My Polaris has been extremely reliable (just like their snow machines). Remember, you have a huge community to turn to for advice. Best wishes on fulfilling your dream.

So glad you started the video with such direct honesty of self doubt and being a novice at everything you’re still running toward. Honestly…I’m finally able to do things I’ve wanted for so long. Granted, they’re just the things I can, conceivably do with what I have so, not an “American Dream”/ridiculous set of goals so many are programmed into thinking are available to them when they’re being rung out of all their energies & means to entities that will keep them trapped from those dreams for the foreseeable future. -But its a freedom, still, I’ve never had and my children have never seen. Having my youngest makes everything even more scary. But we have to do something and we have to achieve freedom. -Thank you for that honesty. You’re not alone…and this is how we change the world. This is where that starts, IMO. 🌸

One thing I can say as you start your long journey. Have faith in everything. Do what you can at a pace never rush things. Look after your mental and physical health nothing in this world is easy we take everything for granted and expect to much. I myself have climbed that ladder only to be knocked down I started again it took me 17 years to get my life on track to be knocked back again with cancer. But slowly I'm rebuilding again only at a smaller pace. Good luck stay strong and live a wonderful life.

So many people are lost these days, but i think you may be one of the lucky ones, you have the balls to try something new rather than sit on your butt and dwell in self-pity, so many do not have what it takes to turn their miserable lives around and that's sad, where's there's a spark of ambition there's hope, and where there's hope it means you can still see a future for your self, i wish you well with your new venture and have subscribed to watch your progress, i'm a sucker for a success story so don't let yourself or us down, you have chosen a hard path, but one that can and no doubt will teach you many lessons, i luck forward to your next video,

Love it! A sure cure for optical rectitis! Consult an attorney regarding the access issues. Was the lack of access disclosed in the contract? The Seller and/or the Agent may have a certain amount of liability in a lack of disclosure. Of course, Canadian law may be different. The RE Agent may just settle out of court to avoid bad publicit and a court case. The adjacent owner(s) may be willing to negotiate an easement suitable to your needs. Best of luck!

    • @tyleranddobby
      @tyleranddobby  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Hey! Yes, this has been part of the behind the scenes. My realtor and the lawyer who did the closing both said I need to go the litigation route. No mention of water running through the access, they were very clear they were able to get their truck in(this turned out to be false by them), photos of the main road are from 30 minutes away, all photos of the access are the flat clear areas. I later checked the deeds access and discovered it’s located in a different spot that goes directly to the Brook in front where there is no road remotely close by. Both would go through different property lines(mine starts half way down that rocky hill). Locals have told me there might be an old washed out road they used to use to get trucks in many years ago but ATVers couldn’t find it and I couldn’t by foot so Im just weighing all the options to be honest. I didn’t really want to make a video complaining about this, yea know? Just a bit stressful but my legs work well for now haha.

Bro, you are living a life that I have always craved. This is fantastic. I mean, city life has spoilt me, I don't know if I can ever do this where I live (even though I have 10-15 acres of farm land and I can easily build a small cabin on it) but I've been hesitating on this, maybe some of your videos will inspire me to make the move eventually. Living in nature is the ultimate dream for me.

      @davidrussell8795 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Getting things can be a task in winter!
Theres a lot of older ppl out east, and most wont pickup hitchhikers!
Also, the east coast gets buried in up to 5 to 6 feet of snow and in 2013,two snow storms back to back, buried Miramichi new Brunswick in 6 feet on first day then 4 the next! They were shut down for a week!
Lucky me,I was in Calgary at the time!
So,if you buy out there, be forewarned ! And buy your snow blower in southern Ontario because we have big box stores with less expensive priced equipment due to competition, while out there, it's 35% more! Or buy an old 4x4 with a plow,or a tractor with a plow to clear your road asap!
If you buy a quad in Miramichi,I hear they charge 4k more than Moncton!
Moncton,a village that calls itself a city!
5 minute drive from end to end!
      They have McDonald's!!!
Like shopping malls, they don't have them!
Miramichi has a strip mall plaza.
Ppl,still a lot of : who are you,Whos your father, and sticky cklicky and prickey!
The old Scottish way,if your introduced then we might like you, oherwise not so!
And if they dont like you,the bullshit starts!
I will say,Newcastle nb,has the best food bank out of a lot,Vancouver should be ashamed of its! Twice a year in Vancouver, you can go to it!
The expression: we'll run you off your land,is real, or harass the shit out of you!
They've never heard of your constitutional rights! And ppl are paid to rat on you!
I was told by someone that the MPP's gave the phones to little old ladies to pacify ppl that have complaints, they're called " multiple listening assholes!"
      Or MLAs!
So,just cuz you see cheap land out there,no this, and don't expect to make too many freinds, out in bumfyck new Brunswick as most left in the 70s for Windsor Detroit autoplants, and beyond and Irving gave( 2010 ish) up their timber claims back to Nova scotia!
Also, although some helped me,it's a cousin to cousin situation out there!
Is u my cousin...no,then iz not given you a job!
And just around mid November, or sooner, winter arrives! And stays till it starts to thaw in April, but may 1 is when it's over!
It's not too bad till around Xmas, but one Xmas it was raining at midnight, then it turned to snow!
Just after Xmas, the temperature starts dropping in the minus 30,but I had -43 farenheight! One winter, and this lasts for about a month till mid February!
Better have 10 cord of wood stacked up,or find a warm room in town if u can for the winter!
There are very few homeless shelters ,and the salvation army in Moncton does not have beds, like the Drop in shelter in Calgary!
Snowshoes don't have any? Get 2 pair, why, cuz the snow comes down and builds up like a layer cake! The first foot, then a quick rain or thaw, creates a sheet of ice, which can support wolves, and coyotes, buy not always humans, this cake layering continues for every foot till it reaches 4 yo 6 feet!or more!!!
It collapses under your weight,if your a big man,so walking on it ,is possible, but I crashed through it up to my mid waste!
Running through it without snow shows, and coyotes after you, is a death sentence! Because you can't get through it,without constantly breaking through!
Snow machine..if your that far back in the bush, better have one also, old cattle fence from 50 years ago is still all over, even though you see a lot of trees Pierre Trudeau stoped supporting the nb farmers back in 74,so the farms grew pine tres ,where cow pastures used to be,so be careful on a snowmobile.
Enjoy the bush, but be prepared for that lifestyle!
I will say,I've had help from ppl out there, but there's always a hidden agenda!
      Let's talk about property taxes!
Not very expensive, but if you're late, look out, they're quick to sell your land at auction!

Something that would cost less money than buying a big hefty 4WD utility vehicle would be to buy a durable 4-wheeler that can easily climb over very rough terrrain. You can build or buy a durable carrier for it. They also make indestructible wagons for these (I've got one).
Mine's got a winch in the front, so I can drag fallen trees out of the path. I've taken mine over big rocks and through swamps with no problems. It's my right-hand-man for working out on my rural farm.

We had a custom built home completed on our property in a very mountainous area of north central Washington state. We’re 5 miles from a small town and 25 miles from a small city.
We love mountain living, so I can identify with your desire to be in the wilderness.
I’m happy that you found a place that is just right for you.
I retired early a year or so before I met my wife. She still has another 15 years to work before she reaches the age of retirement.
At that time we’ll sell our home and relocate to Montana on our private property there. A couple of years before her retirement we’ll build a 2 bedroom 2 bath log house (single story), as our current home is a 2 story.
We enjoy living remotely away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I must admit that you have bigger balls than me to buy a home that land locked and you have to hike into your house. But then again, you’re quite a bit younger than we are. I would have jumped at the chance like you have if I were 30 years younger.

Excellent videography. The drone shots made me wish I were a bird. Canada has almost limitless natural beauty in a vast land. Well done.

Was hoping to see more of cabin life than out on the road life ..cabin living would be a better life than town living .. ya could do a garden and can food and see nature at its finest ..just take a lot of off spray and off candles to keep bugs away .... Would have been nice to see more of new place and what you had to work with on building or making a starter home or even the walk on ur land saying this is home now yet knowing ur at piece is all that matters .. adopt me as ur pet would be nice to live in country see life the way it was meant to be

Not everyone in the world sucks. Most of them do but not all. I’m so glad a came across your channel. I’m looking forward to being on the adventure with you. Life is not easy but it is your only option. Hang tough it’s not always where you go to find yourself but how well you get to enjoy yourself. Truly enjoy being yourself. Be happy by yourself and you can be happy anywhere with anyone or by yourself. Good luck my friend. You have got this my friend. You ever just want to talk hit me up anytime.

You will do fine. It won’t be easy, but nothing really worth it is. You have the remanents of a road that wil take you some time to work on so you can get your van back there. Maybe a couple culverts for the small stream running across the drive. And you will have to wheelbarrow some fill dirt for the low and rocky portions. But you can do it. I envy you. You can do a lot more than you think you can. Take it from an old man, I know. From experience.

Logically a small tractor with a bucket and a road grader would do you quite well, however, you can get by with an older tractor and a three point hitch and lift rocks out-of-the-way, and then smooth out the roads, depending upon how much of a handyman you are on keeping an older tractor running

I live alone with my dog named Max, a black cocker spaniel. I would not have it any other way. People can be cruel, thoughtless and stupid but dogs are nothing but ❤️ LOVE! Be protective of such a small dog. Animals and snakes! Protect him! You too did you do research on the dangers?
