I like that you show that sometimes you have work for what you want, not just when the puppy does it immediately. I know what I am doing with my new puppy tonight. LOL
It depends on your level of experience and the puppie's attitude. No set #, just observe how your puppy is responding, if they are getting confused or frustrated then you are doing to much.
Would you start with the "push" training on a small breed? Just trying to translate how I could transition from bending over for the dog to gave a proper chin rest to watching my hand at my side. Perhaps on another video?
I have no problem with it at all. I do have rules for tug in that when I say "out" they release, and that in itself can even help with bird work. When the dog is in a state of arousal they have learnt how to respond appropriately.
I have several of your DVDs that were obviously made prior to the AKC's command discrimination exercise. You've always stated that you don't train the down from a sit, or sit from a down, but now that it may be needed, how do you train for that?
yup. My first trainer in my first class taught us down from sit and now its soooo hard to untrain that to get correct form. If only I had known this earlier!
I believe you are one of the best educators of canine learning on the planet.
You are very kind!

Congratulations on your new puppy! He looks adorable and so smart.
Goodness !! He will be CDX at 1!!!!
When training a puppy how many commands would you teach at once?

How do you avoid him biting your hands too much? Any pre-training?
He is so engaged with his training that he is not interested in biting my hands.

What are your thoughts on playing tug with a dog that’s used for hunting and field trials?

Sure but I wait until my puppy understands and executes the down, sit and stand with ease, speed and technically correct first.
