I am a collector and fan of sandalwood, and I admit that with certain blind purchases I trust you, two specific cases... molecule 4 and indian sandalwood (I even bought 3 more to keep) and molecule 4 has a huge performance is incredible. Compliments from France
Incorporating fragrance education into your reviews seems like the next step for your content and was a surprisingly welcome addition in this video. Explaining what certain chemicals and notes actually are and how they interact was and is very engaging, as a lot of us are novice collectors. Helping us develop that vocabulary will build trust and loyalty in your reviews and your brand. Thanks.
Great list, Sebastian! I much prefer the creamier sandalwoods to the drier variety. Love Santal Complet and Guidance, need to check out Piano Santal! ❤
Finally a note that I enjoy! So much fruity, vanilla, oud and gourmand being hyped up at the moment…also so much “beast mode” reviews…I prefer more fresh, woody and light floral notes (or at least my skin chemistry does 🤔)…So this video really gave me some great recommendations! 🙏
I’m so glad you included Milky Musk! It’s so cozy, loving it now in the cold weather at home☺️ Also, Guidance is such a beauty, it took my breath away💕
Another great video, Sebastian! I L O V E Santal Basmati Affinessence, yet I never bought a bottle because it just doesn’t last on me 😢 can you recommend a close alternative? I love the rice note in it. Thx
I prefer creamy sandalwood, my favorites are: Dries Van Notten from FM, Santal Austral, Piano Santal, Santal Dan Sha, Samsara, Sandal Ruby and Gris Charnel 😍
Serge Lutens Santal Majascule is just the most perfect sandalwood perfume. If you like sandalwood with cacao and rose, it’s just 😋😘😘😘. Only problem is it doesn’t last all day. Is there a similar rose + sandalwood+cacao that’s very similar pls?
Lately my go to sandalwood has been Memo Inverness; it's mostly creamy sandalwood and orris, a bit similar to Piano Santal but I can justify having both.
My favourite sandalwood fragrances are : Dries Van Noten by Frederic Malle (discontinued), Trayee and Ashoka by Neela Vermeire, 24 rue de l'Université by YSL. I am really surprised that you did not mention any of the Neela Vermeire fragrances as the sandalwood is really dominant and it is one of the most qualitative sandalwood I have ever smelled.
Mine is also Dries Van Notten 😢I want it back 🙏🏻 I’m taking notes of your other sandalwood favorites. My top3 would be that, Piano Santal and Santal Austral.
I much prefer maison Louis Marie no. 4 Bois de balincourt to Santal 33, which it is supposedly a dupe of (but it is actually a dead ringer for le labo Santal 26) also, I wish I could love Tam Dao, but to me it smells like Thai peanut sauce would love to see a video on Andrea Maack! I find her fragrances very artistic and evocative
Hello Sebastian! I am considering getting a Sandalwood fragrance because I don’t have any woody fragrances in my lineup currently. Had been considering Sandalwood by Geo F Trumper because the boys from Wafts from the Loft are always talking it up. Have you had experience with that one? Also do you think Sandalwood scents could be a good option for Springtime as they are likely not too heavy. Thanks!
LOVE this video and these picks! I really am drawn to Sandalwood creamy woodiness...I have Santal Blanc and adore it. I really want to try Piano Santal and the Dunhill and UNE NUIT NOMADE. Thank you Sebastian.
Great list with some new ones to me. I would have Richwood at the top of my list. Both my wife and I love that one, which is rare! We have been to Mysore near where she grew up, and this frag is the most evocative of Mysore sandalwood.
Thank you Sebastian for these beautiful lists. Sandalwood is one of my all time favourite notes. Can you indulge us with only designer list of your top Sandalwood picks. Thanks once again for all your efforts !
I don't have any of these, although I have tried Tam Dao and Nothing But Sea And Sky. I remember liking Tam Dao. Nothing But Sea And Sky made no impression on me.
Sandalwood is one of my favorite notes in perfumes. Santal Soiree is a wonderful rich & creamy sandalwood from Anne Smith Fragrances, which tops my list of sandalwood juices
Bleu **parfum** is one of my favorite chanel fragrances with sandalwood. I really enjoy how it is both sparkling & fresh yet creamy and refreshing. I guess they planted sandalwood trees in New Caledonia that are grown exclusively for chanel fragrances too which I find to be really in line with the brand heritage
Nothing but sea and sky is such an incredible scent. Its my summer time signature scent. I cannot and dont want to imagine not having it in my collection:) i also love milky musk 39 and therefore feel like i need to try piano santal since its your number one:) When it comes to milky Sandalwood i also love Rosendo Mateu no. 6.
I’m wondering where/if Santal austral would have landed ln this list? I have or tested almost all of these.. why am I still searching for a sandalwood??!!! 😢😢😢😢 lol!
Yes def a fan. my favs are sandalwood and tobacco. I am not a fan of Santal33. I have been sampling Maison Louis Marie no4 and so far I like it. It does stays close to the skin though. My nr1 is also Piano santal, love this for fall and winter
Venenum 32 L'Artisan Parfumeur os a gorgeous cozy, and lactonic fragrance. Performance is not good but it smells so comforting Meander Amouage is also a good one too. Not sandlewood focused, but it is there
Tanx Sebastian, what a coincidence! I asked for a list of sandalwood fragrances in the comments under your last video (Rose+Oud)! I will get my nose on some of those asap!
My overwhelming favorite sandalwood, by far, is Creed’s now long discontinued, Bois de Santal. Once I smelled that one, it was hard for any others to be in the running. The only other one I really enjoy is another discontinued one…Crabtree & Evelyn’s Extract of Mysore Sandalwood.
I'm amazed Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood didn't find a spot here in the top 10! Such an underrated and understated house. This is clean, fresh, very British gentlemanly, very versatile - just a delightful sandalwood, very classy!
Great video, sandalwood is my No. 2 favorite note behind vanilla. Sandalwood in Oak by Scents of Wood, Santal Calling by Ex Nihilo, Initio Rehab/Blessed Baraka and 24 Rue by YSL are just a few of my favorites.
I really dislike Santal 33 and I love the note of sandalwood. I prefer creamy sandalwood too. Favorite sandalwoods are Piano Santal, Santal Blush, Santal Blond.
I was going to buy tabac Exqis from Caron, but then I sampled Santal Precieux and fell in love. It’s now my favorite of everything I have and has become my signature scent.
While this defies popular opinion, I do not like Santal 33, Delina or Guidance. I've tried to make them work, but can't wear. I will try a sample of Piano Santal. Your opinions matter, thank you
I'm glad you updated your Sandalwood video Sebastian; I love sandalwood, and it surprises me that many of the fragrances I've picked lately has some amount of sandalwood in them. Phlur's Somebody Wood is my favorite, but I would love to get my hands on Parle Moi's Milky Musk and Nothing but Sea and Sky. Thanks again for the recommendations! 🍂🪵💕
Glad there’s someone out there that isn’t a fan of Santal 33. Like, I don’t dislike it, I hate it lol. Zara had a similar scent a while ago, Tividen, which was sorta similar but it was much more creamy and milky. I still have a bottle that I use every so often in the colder months such as now. I layer it with my Mercedes Benz Black and the combination becomes the creamiest lactonic fragrance in my collection. If I could describe it, I would say it smells like if jewels had smells when broken. If an emerald had broken and the aroma started to fill the room, that’s what the layering smells like. It’s so beautiful. Thanks for another journey Sebastian!
Great list!! Piano Santal is definetely a sandalwood masterpiece, I really love it. Tam Dao is a sandalwood masterpiece to me too, but going into a very diferent direction. Nothing but Sea and Sky I also love, if only it lasted a bit longer…😢
I am just amazed about your knowledge and the selection you own. I love soft sandalwood but never had such a good list to be introduced to. Well done. I really like your series. Thx a bunch from 🇩🇪
What are the disadvantages of sandalwood oil? Special Precautions and Warnings There have been reports of kidney damage with prolonged use. White sandalwood can also cause itching, nausea, and stomach upset.
Amazing list, truly. Sandalwood is one of my favorite notes. Some of my favorites are in there, Santal-Basmati and Nothing but Sea and Sky (Une Nuit Nomade should be more known!). I would add Sandalo Nobile from Nobile 1942 (although a bit more floral) and although sandalwood isn't the main note Stephane Humbert Lucas's Sand Dance is a crazy gourmand with sandalwood as a dusty base.
It shouldn't be cause it's one note and an easy note to find and use. And Luckyscent who distributes Escentric Molecules still has it on their website?
@@ThePerfumeGuy Ah, I see. I haven't tried checking Luckyscent. I live in Indonesia. There's no stock here offline or online store. Thank you for responding! :)
Thank You for this gorgeous and informative video. Because of you I am in love with Santal complet and Basmati Santal, I thought I will love Piano santal, but it reminded me a little bit of Santal 33, I need some sweetness in my santal. Anyways you are doing a great job!!!
I find JHAG Sunny Side Up to be sooo addictive ! I recently got Phlur Somebody wood and I am still deciding what I think , it’s sorta fresh imo and I wasn’t expecting that - Now Santal Complet ❤❤❤!! So perfect
Just started following you, Sebastian. Great videos, selections and analyses. Thanks for these. For some reason I never liked santalwood in anything. Maybe I just never have crossed path with the One. My favourite notes are vetiver and neroli. Though yet to find the perfect parfume that combines these two in the way I like. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I have went off milky and sandalwood scents in last 3 years,DVN,remember me from jovoy, musc ravageur etc....other hates are BR540 and merc cashmere and trajan.
Personally, I've been enjoying Kilian's Sacred Wood and Cartier's Santal & Oud - both of which aren't on this list (maybe I'm a bit out of date) will have to check out Dunhill and "Nothing but Sea and Sky" though. - thanks Seb
Such a great list! I actually watched your older sandalwood video a month ago as I was diving into sandalwood. I would love to hear your take on Molinard's Santal Insolent, or "Scandalwood" by Heretic Parfum. I also love the creamy variety of sandalwood. It might actually be my top fragrance category. Cheers!

Find someone who hates you the way Sebestain hates Santal 33 😅
Lol
This fragrance is overused. And it’s not even the best sandalwood
😂😂😂😂
Haha.... no secret about which one it is! 😆😆😆
That fragrance is a disgrace PERIOD
I am a collector and fan of sandalwood, and I admit that with certain blind purchases I trust you, two specific cases... molecule 4 and indian sandalwood (I even bought 3 more to keep) and molecule 4 has a huge performance is incredible. Compliments from France
YES. Awesome. Happy Holidays!! :)

As well as more knowledge on the history, origins of the notes and bottles, noses and brand
Nice list. For Amouage, Meander has much more prominent note of sandalwood than Guidance has, imho.
Great list, Sebastian! I much prefer the creamier sandalwoods to the drier variety. Love Santal Complet and Guidance, need to check out Piano Santal! ❤
hands down Guerlain samsara is my favorite sandalwood perfume.

Great list. I still think sacred wood by killian is my fave out and out sandlewood
Just purchased Piano Santal today! It is something I wouldn’t normally go for but I love it!!
Great list. My personal favorite is Santal de Mysore by Serge Lutens. You must sample if you haven’t, it’s delicious!
I prefer creamy sandalwood, my favorites are: Dries Van Notten from FM, Santal Austral, Piano Santal, Santal Dan Sha, Samsara, Sandal Ruby and Gris Charnel 😍
Chanel's Bois des Iles is hands down my fave sandalwood.
Guerlain Santal Royal is wonderful as well.
And you can't go wrong with Tam Dao.

I’ve been wanting to try Inverness because the notes and city are loves but I haven’t really seen any reviews on it yet. Thanks for the info!
@@goodjeans7084 It doesn't make me think of Inverness but I like the fragrance!
How do you feel about Matiere Premiere’s Santal Austral? Haven’t heard many people discuss that one, interested to investigate that house further.
Hi Sebastian, Miller et Bertaux has some interesting sandalwood frags (indian study, a quite morning..) and they are also inexpensive😊
Great video and I enjoyed it and I like guerlain santel Royal and I'm going to try the other fragrances and have a blessed night
My favourite sandalwood fragrances are : Dries Van Noten by Frederic Malle (discontinued), Trayee and Ashoka by Neela Vermeire, 24 rue de l'Université by YSL. also, I wish I could love Tam Dao, but to me it smells like Thai peanut sauce
would love to see a video on Andrea Maack! I find her fragrances very artistic and evocative
I’ve heard Santal Vanille from 7 Virtues is wonderful. Have you tried it?
I’m surprised Santal Austral is missing
Santal Carmin by Atelier cologne is my favorite
Santal Austral it is for me:)
Sandalwood in Oak by The Scents of Wood is my favorite one. Sounds like you would like it too, since it is very milky and creamy.
I’d put Dior Santal Noir on that list, what do you think? Beautiful scent!
Sandalwood is one of my favourite notes & I think Santal Calling by Ex Nihilo would have been a good addition to your list! It’s beautiful!!
I prefer the more creamy sandalwood vs the woody sandalwood. I personally can't stand Santal 33, it gives me headaches
Have you tried Sogni by Meo Fusciuni? It’s a beautiful woody fragrance with an interesting rice note .
Hello Sebastian! I am considering getting a Sandalwood fragrance because I don’t have any woody fragrances in my lineup currently. Good list Sebastian! What about Santal Austral by Matiere Premiere?
Oh I liked it but didn't have it to feature it here sadly! :(
Thanks to You I tried Caron and I ended buing Santal Precieux from the brand. Now it’s one of my favourite sandalwood perfume
I need to try that one.
Wow I would like to try that too!
Nobile 1942 - Sandalo Nobile, Tom Ford - Santal Blush, Memo - Sherwood, Bon Parfumeur - 301
Missing tom ford's santal blush
Santal Noble is the most elegant, refined beautiful sandalwood par excellence ✨✨
Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule is amazing and so authentic
It's quite good yes. Don't own it sadly.
Thank You Thank You !! for this list. I was waiting for your updated list
One of the finest smelling after shaves: Proraso Red, which basically smells like sandalwood

You gotta get a bottle of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Amethyst- the best tobacco!
Venenum 32 L'Artisan Parfumeur os a gorgeous cozy, and lactonic fragrance. Performance is not good but it smells so comforting
Meander Amouage is also a good one too. Not sandlewood focused, but it is there
Thoughts on Sana jardins sandlewood temple ?? 🌸
Tanx Sebastian, what a coincidence! I asked for a list of sandalwood fragrances in the comments under your last video (Rose+Oud)! I will get my nose on some of those asap!
What about Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple?
Orange x Santal by Essential Parfums is another good one that really changed my perception about sandalwood as a fragrance note.
Sebastian should do a review of the best from Arabian Oud that niche middle eastern house 👌🏾 is top notch
I love Sandalwood! It's one of my favorite notes in fragrances. New York Sandalwood by Bond No. 9 comes to mind.
