Been waiting for this one. I never realized how much I love sandalwood until I realized I was gravitating towards fragrances with a prominent sandalwood note. I especially love it paired with vanilla. 🤤
Me too! When I realized Gris Charnel, guidance were among my tops that I tend to get drawn to, then getting Santal 33 I realized it’s the sandalwood I’m so attracted to, great video!
Boucheron’s Santal de Kandy was a sandalwood fragrance I had an instant reaction to and had to buy immediately. It has a cozy and slightly creamy nuance…but I never hear anyone talk about it 🤷🏼♀️ Totally agree about Gris Charnel! ❤
I recently purchased Santal Vanille and before that I purchased Apres from Ellis Brooklyn based off of your reviews because I was interested in trying woody fragrances. I'm totally in love with them and can see Santal Vanille becoming a signature scent for me! I'm so glad I tried them out. Thanks for your great descriptions!
You are my favorite reviewer. I just adore how you explain things I almost binge watch you lol. Excited to try guidance. Ordered a sample :) I wear santal 33 but I’m craving a creamier s situation.
I am now obsessed with Santal Vanille. I am even considering a back up bottle during the Sephora sale (I have NEVER bought a back up bottle or a replacement of anything). I am curious if you have tried Chloe Atelier Santalum? I layered Santal Vanille with Italica by Casamorati. Really balanced that sweetness well. I am also obsessed with Necessarie Santal body lotion and wash. I thank you, though my wallet doesn't. 🤣🤣🤣
Above and beyond any other creator, your taste is sheer perfection- at least to my nose:) We have similar tastes in notes for sure, so I can pretty much bet on ANYTHING you recommend. Just bought Santal Vanille. LOVE. I would blind buy an Anne recommendation any day ❤️
Le labo Santal 33 is the only perfume my husband would wear and also loves on me and we had to buy the whole collection even we got the version of the hotel collection for the house. Lol
Just blind bought Guidance and Hundred Silent ways.. definitely a psychotic moment i just had lol but most of my fragrances are blind buys. If all else fails… MERCARI!
Really love G Water & Gris Charnel. Big loves. Love Guidance too. I noticed how nice the pear was, but I gotta pay more attention to the sandalwood next time.
I love sandalwood. I own milky musk (my favorite), Gris Charnel, Santal Vanille, and Book. I've either already sampled all the others or have them on my sample wishlist. I'm curious if you smelled and have opinions on any of the below fragrances. They are all on my sample wishlist and I would love to narrow it down Sandalwood Temple White Sandalwood - Goldfield Santal Blanc - Van Cleef Santal Blanc - Serge Lutens Santal Pao Rosa - Guerlain Santal Blond - Atelier Materi She was an anomaly - etat libre Hanami - Phlur Tam Dao - Diptyque
I'd be happy to give you my thoughts! - Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple (a simple fragrance. Powdery, creamy, buttery, sandalwood, vanilla. It also has a slight bit of a coconut vibe. That’s it. There’s beauty in its simplicity, this would also be great for layering. It’s soft and chic, calming. Cozy, understated. The vanilla note is soft and addicting, it keeps drawing me in. If the scent has a texture it would be cashmere. This is amazing for a your skin but better scent. Appropriate if you’re sensitive to fragrances, work in healthcare. Don’t expect anything wow factor or crazy because it is a simpler fragrance but it’s lovely. The reason I’m not pulling the trigger on a bottle is that I do detect a hint of that buttery quality which isn't for me.) - Goldfield & Banks White Sandalwood (smells mature. Powdery. Rose, sandalwood, thyme) - Van Cleef & Arpels Santal Blanc (nice! But not personally into the fig, which is a dominant note. Fig, sandalwood, musk. Powdery, soft. Doesn’t really project.) - Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa (very woody. I get a spicy dark rose even though it's not listed. Tinyy touch of fig) - Atelier Materi Santal Blond (I do smell a little resemblance to TF Santal Blush but I like this better, not so kitchen spice like. A dry, creamy sandalwood with hinoki bourbon and green cardamom. Not totally digging the spicy and deep dark aspect of the bourbon. Also detect a little bit of a dill smell. Unisex leaning a little masculine. It’s okay.) - Diptyque Tam Dao EDT (realistic, natural wood. Dry sandalwood, cedar, rosewood, cypress, spices. I want a smidge of vanilla or something. Too linear and simple for me.) These are of course my own opinions and tastes, you may have a different experience, but I hope it helped a little :)
@@AnneLauren I kept the sample card and put it in my backpack and you can still smell it two weeks later!! The dry down is so pretty…even my super picky mom liked it. The opening was very sharp and headache inducing (which never happens). So at that price….I’ll wait for a good sale then revisit. In the meantime, I’ll try spritzing one more time. 😍
I know I’m so late but I’m a new subscriber and I’m loving your channel. I adore sandalwood! I blind bought JHAG Sunny Side Up and I can’t smell it. :(. My next pick is definitely going to be Santal Vanille!
I agree on GC and GCE- I could have both. I find the Extrait even sweeter than the OG in the dry down- yet the opening is more opulent and spicy .. so beautiful 🖤
Hi! I loved this video because I love sandalwood ans have some of your list, like Guidance and Gris Charnel. Do you know Sandalwood Temple by Sana Jardin? I would like to know your thoughts about it. Greetings from Spain.
I love sandalwood and own both Santal 33 and Gris Charnel. Milky Musk I loved on the first spray but after some time it was too cloying and I couldn't stand it. Now I need to try all your other recommendations especially Guidance and Santal Vanille ❤ (I immediately bought Santal Vanille sample). Other sandalwood I own and love are Radio Bombay and Piano Santal
Those are all kinds dill pickles to me, well Santal 33, Santal Vanille and Book. I like those creamy ones and I have Santal Piano, Loewe 001 Woman, Santal Austral (which doesn't smell like sandalwood but it's savory in a good way. And someday I would like to get Santal Basmati..
I agree 100% with you on the Guidance. A total beast mode perfume with a strong sandalwood bomb base. When I tested it I thought the Santal 33 I tested a day or so earlier had remained, or resurfaced on my skin. It is a beautiful scent - but for me, one tiny spray is all I can take. And your Santal 33 description is so spot on. It reminds me of summer hikes on a sweltering day here in the west coast of Canada in a cedar forest. ❤ BTW I am wearing the new Kayali Yum Pistachio today, and I swear it has that sandalwood dry down similar to Guidance. ❤
Thank you! Oh how interesting! My nose doesn't pick up the similarity, but Yum Pistachio Gelato has slowly been growing on me, it's currently a like and I keep going back to sniff it from the bottle haha 🥰
I came for a solid Guidance review and yours is excellent...but I stayed for the Sunny side up. Why did your description of Sunny side up make me so emo? I love it so much and it's highly underrated. Thank you.
Your love for sandalwood is so apprarent and here I am as someone who doesn't vibe with sandalwood that much still watching the whole thing. I am hoping that gris charnel works for me. I also have the extrait and we will have to wait and see on both of them as I love tea and fig notes so fingers crossed.
Mmmm. I love so many of these. Haven’t smelled Guidance yet. Hard to get in Canada still I think. You inspired me to wear Santal Vanille to bed lol. I find it so grounding. I often wear it to sleep. 😴
I love santal vanille also but I have to be in the mood for it. It’s really well blended. Santal 33 I am still testing. It was not what I expected at first but on skin it’s interesting. I like it. I may be with you on it though, I’d probably prefer smelling it on someone else.
Love sandalwood fragrances most❤ GW, Gris charnel and Santal Austral (love the scent bubble) are my most worn. Too bad Henry Rose and 7 virtues are not available in the Netherlands for shipping. I Just feel like I would totally love them.
My favorite sandalwood is Atelier Cologne's Santal Carmin ( or the similar but ridiculously expensive Atelier Versace's Santa Boisé if I had money ) I love that interpretation. Have you tried them ? Greetings from Spain !
Weirdly, I've fallen for Serge Lutens's Chergui. Sure, there are lotsa other notes but this scent gets no props for being magical, like some others do. Layering it with Orientica's Amber Rouge is lovely.
Love and own both versions of Gris Charnel, just like you do. 😁. I’ve tested Guidance, and although people had commented that this is easier to wear compared to the other Amouages, and although it is beautiful, it was not for me. My decant is pretty substantial so I will revisit and try again in the future, I might change my mind. 🥰
Yeah, Guidance is getting some all over the place comparisons lol. But...I LOVE HER!!!! I get a lot of creaminess from the sandalwood and incense, rose, saffron and fruity notes.
I find Gris Charnel masculine when I wear it despite how beautiful and feminine it’s always described. I just got Ex Nihilo’s Santal Calling and find it lovely. I wonder what your take would be!
I definitely wouldn't describe it as feminine either .. unisex, but not for people who prefer their feminine fragrances! Santal Calling smells like sandalwood baby powder to me 😩 Bummed but I'm glad it was a hit for you! 🤍
Funny enough my nose either developed in a couple of months so quickly or I had a bad day - I did not like Santal 33 at first and the second time I tried it, it was an alluring experience. Not love at first sniff :) I am currently loving Piano Santal since it feels so cozy wearing it :)
Santal 33 is my signature scent I have loved it for years! It’s one that I will never get sick of and I always get compliments. It doesn’t smell too masculine on me and I love how dry it is. I think I want to try Gris charnel.
I’m definitely not as cool as you- couldn’t take the edge to Santal Vanille! I still have a notebook nearby when I watch your videos though! Now you make me want to try Guidance- love me a creamy scent!
If you haven’t, you must smell Providence Perfumes Vientiane! It’s a beautiful creamy slightly sweet sandalwood with a jasmine rice note. It’s to die for. Have you come across it before?
I have a candle from Kohls or Marshall's that's Sandalwood Myrrh with hints of musk infused oak.. OMG I wish I could find a perfume like it, with a little vanilla to make it feminine.
What a great and complete Sandalwood list ❤❤❤ I love sandalwood but it has to be sweet!! I fell in love with a bottle of Armani prive Santal Dan Sha and I purchase a Decant and not for me unfortunately but the bottle is gorgeous. I am obsessed with guidance definitely top 2 from the house. IMO 🥰
Thanks babe!! I wish that Santal Dan Sha was 100% me as well, those bottles are some of my favorites ;) And I agree! Guidance and Sunshine Woman are my top 2 personal favorites! 🤍
You forgot Bo by Liis. You recommended it and I have almost used it up. And i would add Eight & Bobs Egypt. Fabulously woody spicy and great and lasting. Love your vids…..
I have! I unfortunately don't get what everyone else seems to be getting from that fragrance. To my nose, it's sharp, and has this fizzy, piercing quality to it. It also smells sour when I put my nose up to my skin. I don’t experience creamy, amazing sandalwood like others. Such a bummer 😩😩 but I'm glad it was a hit for you!
Anna, I usually like your recommendations and have bought some based on that. Having said that, Iris Malakhan was a huge miss for me. It smells like bad medicine on me. 🙈🙈🙈
I like it, but I’ve noticed the note combo of sugar and herbal notes don’t agree with me. It’s not too loud, but that sugar/sage combo holds me back from loving it.
My two favorite sandalwood fragrances are Kilian sacred wood and Santal Noble Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier(this one is more masculine than sacred wood but I love it so much). Have you tried these and do you like them?
Love the list!!! Wondering your thoughts on the newish' Armani Prive Santal Dan Sha. I've heard it described as a female version of Santal 33. I haven't smelled it yet but it's on my list.
Thank you! It's definitely related to Santal 33, but not as harsh or aromatic. This is a more light, fresh take on the DNA. It has a bergamot note that definitely adds to the fresh quality, and it has bit of a cooling vibe in the opening, but gets warmer as it dries down. Dry, woody sandalwood and cedar, cardamom, elemi, and violet. I'd describe it as perfectly unisex :)
I think I've commented this on a few of your videos because I'm obsessed, but Santal Carmin by Atelier Cologne is another of my fave sandalwood fragrances! Has that Baccart-y vibe from the saffron. I've loved several of your sandalwood recommendations, including Gris Charnel, Queens & Monsters, and Sunny Side Up. Thanks for showing me that sandalwood doesn't always smell like pickles like when I first tried Santal 33. 😆
What are your thoughts on Santal Complet from Fragrance Du Bois in comparison to this list? ...personally I love the scent profile but find it's so faint I can barely smell it.
Been waiting for this one. I never realized how much I love sandalwood until I realized I was gravitating towards fragrances with a prominent sandalwood note. I especially love it paired with vanilla. 🤤
It's the best combo!! 🙌🏼
Me too! When I realized Gris Charnel, guidance were among my tops that I tend to get drawn to, then getting Santal 33 I realized it’s the sandalwood I’m so attracted to, great video!
You make me want to buy literally every perfume you describe.
That sillage from Amouage Guidance is truly breathtaking
Right?!
Do you consider this fragrance a safe blind buy for sandalwood-lover?
@@anik2451 I absolutely think it is! It is a mass pleasing scent to me. The bad reviews on Fragrantica baffles me.
Seven virtues finally listened and made the travel a spray instead of roller ball!!
Love this list! Sandalwood is one of my favorite notes as well.
Thank you!
You described Guidance perfectly. My goodness, it’s just stunning and quickly became a huge favorite. Worth every penny.
You are truly superb at describing fragrances! Love your enthusiasm! Thank you Anne.
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏼🤍
Boucheron’s Santal de Kandy was a sandalwood fragrance I had an instant reaction to and had to buy immediately. It has a cozy and slightly creamy nuance…but I never hear anyone talk about it 🤷🏼♀️ Totally agree about Gris Charnel! ❤

I'm totally in love with them and can see Santal Vanille becoming a signature scent for me! I'm so glad I tried them out. Thanks for your great descriptions!
Santal Vanille is my new favorite scent. It’s softer and cozier than Santal 33. Loved this video!
You are my favorite reviewer. I just adore how you explain things I almost binge watch you lol. Excited to try guidance. Ordered a sample :) I wear santal 33 but I’m craving a creamier s situation.

Great list! I love the This is Her from Zadig & Voltaire, sandalwood with sweet whipped cream
Thank you!
Anne Lauren Queens and Monsters smell so good I love the Sandalwood I can't stop smelling my self when I put it on 😊
It's so underrated!!
Just blind bought Guidance and Hundred Silent ways.. definitely a psychotic moment i just had lol but most of my fragrances are blind buys. If all else fails… MERCARI!
I love the pink color on the Guidence bottle, Very interesting in smelling it now.
the packaging is gorgeous!
Intrigued to check out Guidance! Personally my top pick in this category is TF Santal Blush, the formulation in the original clear bottle.
I’m getting Sunny Side Up in the mail today! Can’t wait 💃🏻
😍😍😍
Spot on description of Guidance! Such a stunning fragrance! Lots of love from Germany 🥰
Really love G Water & Gris Charnel. Big loves. Love Guidance too. I noticed how nice the pear was, but I gotta pay more attention to the sandalwood next time.
That pear melds so beautifully into the sandalwood! 🤍
I love sandalwood. I own milky musk (my favorite), Gris Charnel, Santal Vanille, and Book. I've either already sampled all the others or have them on my sample wishlist. so curious what you'll think!
Hi! I loved this video because I love sandalwood ans have some of your list, like Guidance and Gris Charnel. Do you know Sandalwood Temple by Sana Jardin? I would like to know your thoughts about it. Greetings from Spain.
Loved this videos! So many of my favs. The way you described Guidance was spot on! I actually picked up Santal Vanille during this Sephora sale 😍
Thank you!! Ahhh I'm excited for you!!
Guidance opening sort of reminds me of the taste of my favorite kalamata olive shortbread cookies . I think it may be the balsamic and frankincense
And the sandalwood!
I also find the vanilla in the dry down of Gris Charnel Extrait incredibly addictive. ❤️
that was the note that convinced me I "needed" the extrait 😉
I love sandalwood and own both Santal 33 and Gris Charnel. Milky Musk I loved on the first spray but after some time it was too cloying and I couldn't stand it. Bois des iles by Chanel?
Samsara by Guerlain?

I adore Gris charnel OG and Santal Gray. Book- is my favorite of the Book line, I love the musky note

Amazing video and recommendations, as always. My favourite sandalwood is Oh La La from Teo Cabanel. Have you tried that one?

I love Oh La La, one of my all time faves!
My favorite sandalwood is Atelier Cologne's Santal Carmin ( or the similar but ridiculously expensive Atelier Versace's Santa Boisé if I had money ) I love that interpretation. Have you tried them ? Greetings from Spain !

Sacred Wood is amazing!
Love the list!!! Wondering your thoughts on the newish' Armani Prive Santal Dan Sha. I've heard it described as a female version of Santal 33. I haven't smelled it yet but it's on my list.
I should've waited till' the end, lol. Thanks for your thoughts on it 🤗
I'm glad I could introduce some gems!
Love your descriptions! Great video!😊❤
Thanks so much! 😊
I really enjoyed watching your video 🤩
Thank you 🤗

Sadly, Guidance did not work out for me. It smells so bad on my skin, I can’t stand it. 😭😭 I tried my sample again today while watching this video.
It's not for everyone!
What are your thoughts on Santal Complet from Fragrance Du Bois in comparison to this list? ...personally I love the scent profile but find it's so faint I can barely smell it.
You described Guidance perfectly. My goodness, it’s just stunning and quickly became a huge favorite. Worth every penny.
It's a special one! 🤍
