It's pretty weird to hear it's weird for a restaurant to close on Sunday. In Scotland, shops in little towns close on Sundays (I believe it was because everyone would be going to their religious buildings to do a massive mass) and buildings would close halfday in big cities like Glasgow. Fun fact with this, some towns used to have all shops, restaurants, etc completely shut for the entire day on Wednesdays.
In Greece, where the guy who owns the restaurant comes from, it's also illegal for shops to be open on Sundays, with exception to pharmacies and some supermarkets (for obvious reasons), but only for specific Sundays for the latter.

Northern Ireland here and our shops aren't allowed to open until 1pm on a Sunday to allow staff to attend religious services if they are practicing. I think at one point nowhere opened on a Sunday and they changed it to allow opening hours of 1-6pm. Even Belfast city centre is open for shopping so it's not just supermarkets etc.

After the cameras left, the Zayna Flaming Grill continued with Gordon’s menu and fresh food incentive, and also kept the new decor. Their reviews, though not entirely negative before the appearance on the show, were mostly positive after the changes. Unfortunately, not all these changes stuck, and Fay was unable to give up her micromanaging attitude. Though the food changes were kept, communication broke down again, and Fay returned to her critical ways. As a result, some of the staff featured in the show left, which may have created further tension, as the business was family run. It does seem that Brenda was able to maintain some leadership, and keep the diners generally impressed with the restaurants food. Though the restaurant has bucked the ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ trend by staying open, it has changed ownership since the series was filmed. The new owner, named Ray, still runs the Zayna Flaming Grill as a family restaurant, and the business is active on social media, posting on both Facebook, where they have a 4.8 star rating, and Twitter. Reviews are still overall positive, with diners enjoying the food, and the friendly service, often from the new owner himself.

Couldn't be more god damn right
i like how gordon is always so polite to the waiters and then talks absolut shit about the chefs
From now on we should call Chef Gordon Ramsay Doctor Gordon Ramsay instead...
When you've watched enough episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, you realize he is not only trying to fix a restaurant, he is also trying to fix a dysfunctional family...
Agreed
Now THIS is a pleasant vibe to start the day with. Restaurants that are STILL open! ❤️

I don't think the first guy understands what "experience" means. He does NOT have more experience than Gordon because he has been a chef longer. He has been in the same place, doing the same thing since the 1980s. That is NOT building experience.
THIS! That was killing me 😭
Man really said "I started cooking before ramsey was born, so i should know more than him" 😂😂
Fay can't even see she's the biggest problem. Her overly controlling and overbearing attitude makes her unable to trust anyone to do anything and being overly critical just because it may slightly differ from the way she does it, she automatically assumes they will fail. No one wants to be around her cos she's so authoritative, condescending, controlling, critical and negative. She doesn't know how to ask for help and doesn't accepts it when offered cos she has trust issues and keeps running herself into a cycle of burnout. It's a major shitstorm
At the start of the episode I thought they're both the problem (her and Brenda) but through out she just got worse and worse jesus christ
Nino would never make any of these mistakes. He'd even take photos to prove that he didn't!

Aye at least some people are into "dropping the soap". Closing your Restaurant on Sundays is stupid no matter what you're into

that poor waitress. I would loose my mind with a narcissistic boss like that. she's so conceded and "I can't be wrong". GROSS. I hope that poor girl (& others) found somewhere else to work; their work ethic seems 10/10 and they deserve the best.
Faye and Brenda were against each other a lot but Faye never said a single thing that wasn't a dunk on someone else.
She insists on doing everything than complains she's doing everything.

Yes yes‼️ This one thank you thank you. I was thinking the same and couldn’t find a single comment on it till this one.

@@xFukairix there have been accusations but that was quite some time ago and he's still together with his wife. Idk if it's true, maybe he learned from his mistakes and that's why he's so big on family yk

Zanya Flaming Grill is technically still open but it has been taken over by a different owner since 2015. The previous one had gone back to her old habits, which may have something to do with that.
Thank god, they dont deserve that restaurant at all.

I just started watching kitchen nightmares and man my view of Gordon Ramsay completely changed I have so much respect for him now, I admire him.
When these shows were new on TV I never watched them. From the commercials I thought GR was a loudmouth boor 😅 Now that I’m older and wiser I quite enjoy him. If your business is failing and you have GR to help you why wouldn’t you listen to him? His approach is a little abrasive but I too, have respect and admiration for him.
Hands down Pantalones is the greatest episode on kitchen nightmares, yes the story is tragic but the family eventually got their sh*t together and got better.
I am gonna disagree with you. The best episode on kitchen nightmares is Mama Maria's. The fact that the owner John has treated the restaurant not like an owner but like an employee is quiet sad, because he was afraid to change the ways that his late parents dealed the restaurant as he was a child. That episode touched my heart so much because John's personality & past is as same as mine and that treated me in a way that made me a better person than I am already.

Coptics are a unique christian group in the Middle East.
They have an own Pope, whose resident as well as The Coptic Church is located in Egypt.
Now you know.
In Greece, where the guy who owns the restaurant comes from, it's also illegal for shops to be open on Sundays, with exception to pharmacies and some supermarkets (for obvious reasons), but only for specific Sundays for the latter.
where in scotland you live? here (also in scotland) the weekends are far and away the busiest time of the week for cafe/ restraunts and your average church has 2 people attending and they are in their 90's - i'm not even talking about city centers but small village cafe's and at most on sundays the shops go from opening at 9am to 10am
@@john345ish I live near Glasgow, the church is half full on weekdays but on Sundays it's fully packed. Catholicism is still the majority religion in my area so that's why
I remember Sunday and half-day Wednesday closing. I'm glad we live in a 7-day world now! Nothing worse than working Monday-Friday, having to do everything else on Saturday, and being bored as f on Sunday.
