Thank you! And gotchya covered 😉 I honestly didn't realize how similar the two videos were until I watched the Necron one again 😅 th-cam.com/video/N2oDcrHh7gU/w-d-xo.html
@@DarcyBonoCreations Ooo, great! Thanks! Loved the tip in that one about starting from the base rim first. Just used that on a base this morning and it works great, expecially once you paint in the base rim.
I'm getting the most expressive, inquisitive looks as a 40 year old male buying makeup brushes almost in bulk. Like "ok, you practice drag, but how furiously do you apply makeup that you cycle brushes this often?". Great tutorial, as always. Loving the end result.
Love this! Definitely doing this when my box Tomb King box arrives. Also gonna follow your other Tomb King painting guide. Thanks so much and keep up the excellent work. You are super talented!!
Been scratching my head over how to get this look for the upcoming Tomb Kings perfect timing thank you! What would you recommend for a warm Egyptian rich gold like you have there? I currently paint custodes and use retributor armor and liberator gold which can look a little colder and more metallic as appose to that warm Egyptian gold…
Really good vid. I'm going to try this with some of my Reaper stone giants and demons, and mix up the colors a bit for some other stuff. Thanks for the idea!!!
I am totally going to use this scheme for all of my tomb kings skeletons. It reminds me a lot of Amonkhet zombies, and it will break the monotony of painting another hundreds of skeletons (as I did for my VC army). Thanks for posting!
What a fantastic effect! You have a unique perspective it’s amazing!! I learn something new with every video you post !!! I hope you’re feeling better keep up the great work and have a great new year !!!!
This looks so good and doable! Am definitely going to give this a go when my Bonedragon comes in, Thanks! How would this method fare on the warsphinx with all the flat surfaces? 🤔
Thank you! I actually have a similar video on doing this technique on flat surfaces with Necron black stone bases: th-cam.com/video/N2oDcrHh7gU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nu9JLN-39fg1bxgt
Thanks! Definitely Aeldari Emerald. I do something similar in my Necron Bases video. th-cam.com/video/N2oDcrHh7gU/w-d-xo.html If you want a brighter more Jade color I'd do exactly like in the Necron video, but with one additional step. After the Emerald Contrast dries, do another stipple highlight and then apply Warp Lightning Green Contrast, but only over that 2nd layer of highlight, not over the whole base.
I'd recommend Flesh Tearers Red Contrast, but you'll need to change the undershading a little as black will seriously desaturate a red glaze. You'll want the base surface to be either a mahogany or purple as both have red in them and will ensure the red stays saturated. So you could do black primer, heavy stippling/drybrush in mahogany or purple, then go into the usual drybrush with either white or ivory, then glaze with Flesh Tearers Red, fine edge highlight in a bright red like PRO ACRYL Pyrole Red or even Troll Slayer Orange.
Gonna use this on my gothizzar harvester gonna look soooo nice with the contrast of normal bones in his back Edit: I even have all the paints to hand YIPPIE
Yes, a major a one! Black Legion is very opaque and is a very brown black (it's like motor oil when thinned). That being said, I wouldn't recommend it in this case.
I actually used a bright silver (Vallejo Game Air Silver) then contrast paint over top. It's the same as the gold effect at the 8:11 mark in my Tomb Kings video th-cam.com/video/52IFhllB3Ec/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sGsJEDEFlgMkPxrt
@@DarcyBonoCreationsWould you prime the Sphinx black, then dry brush white. To allow you to add the silver and contrast to the metal parts and blue/green contrast over the marble parts?
Yes but you'll want to use warmer colors like starting with a dark mahogany base color or dark brown and stippling with ivory or even a very light yellow.
would love to see the whole dragon painted.
Looks amazing! I think I might try it on my necrons for all the blackstone elements.

thanks, i was desperately looking for something to do on my necro knights and this is exactly what I was looking for!

🤣 This is why I only buy them online!
Awesome, it gives me a good starting point for the Mindstealer Sphiranxes'fur 😊
Love how this turned out! Great recipe!
Just amazing work! You're consistently one of the best painters I see, just the best tutorials!
Wow, thank you! 🥰

Aw well thanks that's very kind of you. Glad you enjoyed the guides!
Amazing 😮
Wow such a nice and easy job that looks like you spent a long time working on it. Thanks for the ideas
Yes it is amazing what can be achieved with simple make-up brushes. Thanks Darcy for sharing.
Wow that’s come up really nice. Cant wait to see the rest of the bone dragon
Nice one, I might try this to see how it looks on my TK army when it arrives, subbed 👍🏻
Hey thanks! Much appreciated!
Wow this is exactly how this should have been! Great work
holy cow.... this is the way to do this lol, this is rad. Cannot wait for the rest of the body!
Great job! I'll be using this scheme for my sphinxes!
Outrageous. 🥰
Looks cool 🐲

There's actually two versions of rich gold, starting at 8:10 in the following video:

really great work this looks so good cant wait to see you finish the model really looking forward toit

Yaaay Sabaton! 🤘

Well thank you very much! And to you as well 🤗
Thank you so much!! You just broke the 2-year block I've had on my Thousand Sons project...I'd all but given up.
please please do more videos, i need these so bad :D
Thats some sick lookn bone yo. Nekrons? Hey, maybe a red for Khorne. Great process for a striking final product.
Oooooo holy crap I love the idea of a brooding red version for Khorne 😈. And thank you!

will you be doing the rest of the dragon.. be cool to see how it turns out great work xx
Yep! Just gotta finish scheduled commissions and my stuff for Adepticon first :)
@@DarcyBonoCreations cool look forward to seeing it
Freaking beautiful
I did the same thing except only on the claws/horns/teeth of the dragon. :)
Great vid!! What paints would you suggest to get a slightly more green or jade color?

Yeah I'm doing this
This is excellent! I have one question though. Which paints would you suggest if you want the stone to have a reddish tint rather than blueish?
I'd recommend Flesh Tearers Red Contrast, but you'll need to change the undershading a little as black will seriously desaturate a red glaze. You'll want the base surface to be either a mahogany or purple as both have red in them and will ensure the red stays saturated. Edit: I even have all the paints to hand YIPPIE
Maybe this is splitting hairs... but would black legion instead of black templar have any impact on this?
Yes, a major a one! Black Legion is very opaque and is a very brown black (it's like motor oil when thinned). That being said, I wouldn't recommend it in this case.
@@DarcyBonoCreations Thank you much... and off to the store I go.. swoosh!
Did you use a gold on the head or paint over white with contrast to get a gold effect?

Do you think it would be feasible to attempt this scheme/ method on the Necrosphinx?
Yep! That's actually what I based it on.
