Excellent tutorial. HP did it a bit complex to remove those things compared to the previous Pavillion models, but you showed how to do this in a clear manner. I just have a WD black in my old Pavillion (WD was bought a few years ago, before I changed for TG01) so I'll install it soon. Thanks a lot. BTW, is power supply strong enough for 2HDD + additional SDD?
Really helpfull. I'm french and your video is complete, and perfect to me. I understand now I have to buy an additionnal sata cable. Thanks ^^ you're handsome
It's funny watching the videos on this computer, because I bought one and have upgraded a few things, and everybody does more than they have to. For example, all of the videos showing you where the ram is located on the motherboard, everybody removes the black grate and the hard drive holder, when you can simply just put the ram in without removing anything. Same goes for this Hard Drive. You don't have to remove anything, you can simply slide the hard drive in, plug it in, and put the two screws in the side that's not facing the case
Thanks s lot! Did this before but hard drive want screwed in completely so it was just mostly straight rattling noises for months. Finally got off my butt and fixed it and needed a reminder. 👍🏾
at 2:07 in the video, my panel is stuck in the same place yours got stuck but i can't make the right side budge, ive been pulling at it for an hour and it just doesn't move
You can actually install up to 3 hard drives on this machine. Two 3.5 and a 2.5 exactly. Of course you can interchange the 3.5 for 2.5 drives as well. For placement, as shown in the video you can mount one 3.5 inch drive on the silver cage, however you can also mount a 2.5 hard drive on the underside of that cage as well. If you look at 3:07 there are 3 screw holes spaced just right for a 2.5 drive. The 2nd 3.5 inch hard drive can be mounted behind the front panel on the chasis. It doesn't show it on the video, but after you remove the side panel, take a close look at where the torx screw that secures the silver cage is. Below that you should see holes that will allow you to mount a 3.5 inch hard drive perfectly. So you don't have to buy a bracket, you will however need a Y splitter cable for Sata power since there are only 2 sata power connectors and you'll need one more for 3 hard drives. Also if you really want to go overkill, you can buy a PCIe x1 NVMe M.2 expansion card. It will allow you to mount a M.2 NVMe drive. It'll only run at PCIe x1 speed, but if you're not using that PCIe slot, then that's a good option to go for.

After watching this video, which is exactly how the job should be done, I changed drives three times, rescuing old drives from a computer that I scrapped. Had three drives in the old computer, one was bad, the other two were good, and using the Sata connection made the job easier. Now, this video shows how to install one more drive in the supplied drive cage. And the video mentions that you can add a third drive, as the connections are there. But where do you get a drive cage that holds both the drives? Or is there another way to do it? I would like to have two additional drives in this computer. The UberGeeks comment below, I interpret as to meaning you can use the supplied drive for one more hard drive, but I want to have two more hard drives.
